Some simple grind-RPG with a loot, stats and artifacts.

This has the ingredients of everything I love in a grid-based strategy game, with one major exception: due to the shallow mechanics, player skill is almost non-existent.
Too much of the game is simply opening blocks and then making the most obvious choice which is usually attack or cast a spell. And then you pray that you get favorable random drops.
You can play with starting stats and gear and make it to level two of the dungeon with no hope of success. then you can start another game with the exact same stats and gear in the exact same dungeon and you'll make it to level 15 which completes the main goal in the optional goal.
Decision making is very simplistic and limited. Due to the lack of skill required by the player, the game compensates with an upgradable loot system. but the loot system is frustrating because you have a percentage chance to upgrade but if you fail it will actually downgrade your gear. So you have lack of skill and insane grind built on top of one another.
If you want a good grid-based game where player skill is heavy, I strongly recommend Dungelot or Runestone Keeper. in each of those games, every move you make requires consideration and a balancing of consequences. In this game you just click and hope.
The game is skinner-boxed to be addictive enough, but it's lacking ambiance and good art. The cards' art is okay but the main screen looks like it was drawn by a child, and rarely changes.
The gameplay is pretty much a RPG-ified version of Windows' minesweeper. It's okay if you have a few hours to kill on a bus trip or something, so it's probably more adapted to mobile gaming than PC. You spend hours and hours just grinding to be able to beat the level and move on to the next.
No procedural content or anything memorable. Can't imagine this being a keeper in a PC environment, especially when so many good games exist on steam.
This is a close call: The gameplay offers only little strategic challanges and is really grindy. But it plays pretty smooth and is kinda relaxing on the other hand. So it is kinda 6/10 good for my taste ;-). I would not recommend it, if it came with a higher price tag.
A very reasonably priced fantasy spin on the minesweeper formula.
If the words rogue-lite, indie, and puzzle tickle your fancy go grab this game.

It's fun light game. I play this game while listening to audio books or documentary.
Saw this game on new and trending page and it is quite good. It's kinda really old school. Price is low and it runs smooth on my Mac that's also a pros.
Pro tips:
- Boost your weapon and armor in inventory. It helps a lot.
- Click on card and hold left mouse button / trackpad to see its description. No more stupid deaths.
- Get to the 10th floor in first adventure to unlock mage. Now you can cast spells a lot.
Cool game to play! For RPG lovers, some mechanics remind me about DnD. Good balance, gameplay is dope.
Even priced at $5 I feel that Crossroads Roguelike RPG is too much... much like its buzzword loaded title. This seems like a browser based game that delivers fifteen minutes of distraction or a really well done student project for a coding class.
Gameplay is essentially just flipping over cards like a vaguely fantasy version of Minesweeper. Your primary goal is to uncover both the key card and the lock card so that you can go to the next level and do exactly the same thing all over again.
Of course, there are also some very samey monsters (all I saw in my play time was different portraits, health scores and damage dealt... maybe later in the game some of the foes have actual abilities of some kind). Also there's gold, gems, mana, health, traps and spells to uncover, most of which are mechanically very simple. However, most of the spaces on any given map contain nothing.
That's right: lots of empty clicking.
If I did not have a spell or class ability that would reveal a special resource or hazard, I'd just click from the entry square in a pattern until I either got the lock and key or died. Occasionally I'd uncover a spell that I could actually use, but most of the ones I found did only one very specific thing (reveal traps, do some damage to a single foe, heal) for a rather high cost.
Crossroads Roguelike RPG (I can't believe that clunky name made it past alpha testing) promises the style of a trading card game, but only the odd pieces of loot (I generally got one per play) resemble any kind of card that you're going to collect. Spells are in rectangular boxes, so you could call them cards, but they are not retained from play-through to play-through. I'm surprised that didn't just go ahead and call it Crossroads Roguelike RPG Collectible Trading Card Game.
Strangely, whatever initial character race, gender, or class you select, you're stuck with. Sure, you can spend gems to change each of these things, along with resetting the three character stats; but, if I'm dying again and again (as is often the nature of roguelikes), I'd like to be able to easily switch to a different build after I've died, but keep whatever resources, points, etc that I've earned, like many roguelikes do, creating the lose-to-win model. This just feels like lose-to-lose-more.
Though all three races are available from the start, I'm not convinced they're any more than window dressing. Honestly, I got bored with the game so fast, and the gem cost for swapping race between runs seemed punitive, that I didn't bother trying orc or human.
The classes seem more interesting, but only two of those are available from the start. I've no idea how to unlock the others, but in a game so spare, so minimal, gating away the wizard seems like a poor design decision. Too many wannabe roguelikes hide their limited variety behind far too much grind. I'm okay with having unlocks for more advanced, unusual, or exceptional classes in a game, but having the majority of options grayed out from the start is disheartening.
In this one you can start as either a warrior or a rogue, neither of which are specifically fantasy types. Frankly, I never bothered with the warrior because of the gem cost, but it didn't look any more interesting than the dull rogue. If it's fantasy I want to be a wizard. Give me spells from the get-go.
I don't think Crossroads Roguelike Dark Souls Survival Crafting RPG Collectible Trading Card Game (I can't help it...) is a terrible game, but I lost interest in it so fast that I've no desire to spend any more time finding out if there's actually something good between all those blank spaces... seriously, there's just nothing... pure blackness... nada... nil... zilch.
I can't recommend anyone spend any money on this one.
Find the exit and try to escape alive
Crossroads: Roguelike RPG Dungeon Crawler is a nice addition to the minesweeper + dungeon crawler subgenre, if I may call it that way. If you ever played Runestone Keeper, you know what to expect, since the gameplay is heavily inspired by it. For those who are not familiar, the gameplay consists in revealing tiles until you find the exit that leads to the next dungeon, and it’s not a simple task as it may sound – enemies, curses and traps are waiting for you.
There’s grinding, but it’s fun
Your first runs will end fast, but it’s not your fault - you’ll need to find some gear to progress beyond floor 1. After that, your future runs will be easier, until you hit another wall, so you'll need to keep levelling up, forge and enchant your equipment to get better stats and progress further - rinse and repeat. As you might have noticed, it’s needed to grind to reach deeper floors and eventually beat the game – but fear not, the grinding here doesn’t feel like a chore, as every floor is pretty quick to complete, so you never feel like you’re wasting time. Also, the game is procedurally generated, so even when you repeat the same dungeons, they're unique each time you play.
Choose your side
For now you can play as a Warrior or Rogue, and you’ll be able to choose between six religion types that will provide different bonuses according to god shrine you’ll find in your journey. You can even choose Atheism and depend exclusively on your skills and luck, which I think it’s a nice feature – both gameplay wise and ideology wise. There are four more classes that can be unlocked. When it comes to patches, the developers are very responsive and even fixed the problem I had in less than a day, so kudos for that.
The inevitable question / Closing notes
How does Crossroads compares to Runestone Keeper? Well, Crossroads is pretty much a simpler version of Runestone Keeper, but this doesn’t take away its merits – it’s a quite fun game, especially considering the low price. Overall, Crossroads is a nice entry in the minesweeper meets dungeon crawler subgenre and it’s a fun title if you love games with a good balance between strategy and luck. The dev team is pretty responsive, and I guess we can even expect future content patches.
