I love this game. It's brutal. Maybe someday I'll manage to beat it.
This game is a pretty simple game that comes at a cheap price but is very entertaining and provides ample enjoyment for those looking for a simple and relaxing gameplay. The replay value is pretty high as well due to it simplicity making it something someone can keep coming back to without having to sink in hours upon hours to fully complete the game.
It's fun for what it is. Quite simple and easy to play. I collected 3 pieces of the map on my second attempt. The pieces of the map move each time and the situations can change a little too. You have no location indicator on the map so you have to read it by the island shape... like a real map.
The only issue I had so far was that I ended up glitch stuck, trapped between another ship and an Island and couldn't continue and had to restart. Despite this still think the majority of the game functions well and it is enjoyable to try and survive and collect the map.
Don't expect a masterpiece, expect a few restarts due to permadeath, play it for what it is and you will enjoy it.
PS: Shoot with the up and down arrows.
fun mechanics, pretty easy once you figure it out. i got 40 points, my dude.
This is the best game I have ever played in my life

Quick Review:
Makes being a pirate fun and also is no cakewalk with its permadeath and dangerous battles. Fun and frantic ship vs ship engagements, interesting take on swashbuckling combat, and neat exploration in a randomized world. Recommended!
In-Depth Review:
I had a great time playing this game. You set sail in a randomly generated world to find 4 pieces of a treasure map -- thankfully you have a map of your own that shows you their locations, but you still have to fight to take each piece from whoever has it. This can take the form of walking onto a land mass and fighting someone, or having to first disable their ship and THEN fight them, cutlass to cutlass.
Sea battles are generally fun and remind me of what Binding of Isaac (or games like it) might be like if it all happened on boats. Boat handling is not at all realistic and that's totally okay, allowing you to change direction quickly in order to have more intense battles with other ships as you lob cannon balls at each other.
Person to person combat is an interesting system and creates some noticeable tension and has also been the cause of many deaths for me. Basically you and your opponent have limited attack power and you choose how much of it you want to try to use on your opponent, and they're doing the same. Whoever chooses a higher number wins that round and deals damage. The caveat being you only have so much attack power, so if you have 100 total and use all 100 at once, on your next turn you won't have much -- or any -- to use on an attack.
This is where defending comes in. In addition to reducing any blow you take to 1 damage (instead of a potentially fatal 4-5 damage), you can opt to defend instead of attack which will partially recharge your attack power. Defending multiple times in a row will fully replenish your attack power at the expense of potentially having to absorb several attacks.
Ultimately I think it works well, though there is definitely an element of chance that at times feels unavoidable.
The game also features permadeath so if you lose one of these engagements, you're dead, and you have to start all over. Thankfully since all you're doing is trying to collect 4 pieces of a treasure map, if you die in the process it's pretty quick to get on the high seas and try again.
Beyond the combat, exploration is pretty fun. You can dock at any island and you'll run into random denizens and buildings including a dueling pit, repair shop, tavern, and more. Talking to people may allow you to recruit them to your ship which raises morale, may sell you fruit to replenish your HP, or may be pivotal to recovering a map piece (by way of killing them and taking it).
You also have to manage your HP, ship health, and crew morale. Crew morale is kept high by paying your crew well, which means you need to get money, which means you need to attack other ships and take it by force. This adds a nice layer of danger to what might otherwise be (pardon the pun) smooth sailing without knowing crew rebellion is just right around the corner.
Graphically, the game has its charm. Looking at the game's screenshots can help determine if you'll be okay with the graphical style or not.
Ultimately I was really impressed with this game. If the above sounds fun, I definitely say give it a shot.
