All games supposedly supposed to be delisted, but havent yet. It would be stupid as hell if they did, so i'm going to leave a negative review for the time being.

After i heard the news that SEGA has the nerve to delisting classic games such as genesis collection and dreamcast collection to be removed from all store front all because of licensing has been expired
SEGA what you did is a complete d_ck move and making dumbest decision you ever done and pushing anti consumer practices just like idiots at rockstar games delisting original gta trilogy from steam is a real crime

Shame on you Sega for delisting these games! I grew up with Sega games, lots of childhood memories... We need more ways to legally access retro games, not less!!

I am puzzled that SEGA is delisting this. This collection was the gold standard for keeping old games playable, and I honestly think SEGA could have taken this approach for their other systems too. It was cheaper than buying physical copies and also made it fairly easy for consumers to legally access the ROMs for use in other emulators. Whether playing for nostalgia or just discovering these games in 2024, this collection had merit.
Instead, SEGA removed most Sonic games here (orphaning the related achievements) at the release of Sonic Origins, and is delisting all of their Genesis and Dreamcast games today (except for Sonic Adventure) ahead of a few upcoming remakes.
Many of the games in this collection were designed for the arcades, so they make balance choices that feel tedeous. Other games properly designed for the home market (Dynamite Headdy, Ristar, Vectorman, Sonic, etc) hold up better to modern standards. That makes it all the more crushing that only two of the Sonic games remain in the collection as of this writing. I would have appreciated bringing them back for the collection's final weeks...
The collection focuses heavily on first-party SEGA titles; Licensed games with properties like Disney's are notably absent. I was also very surprised that Virtua Racing didn't make the cut. The broader Genesis library isn't well represented, in my opinion.
There is an immersive bedroom interface and a simple 2d menu interface, with the same keyboard bindings. I recommend playing with a Retro-Bit SEGA Genesis controller, with Steam Input bindings for keyboard, in simple mode. Also works well on the Steam Deck.
Great game but I'm sad that soon this amazing piece of history is getting delisted from Store Pages.
SEGA removed Sonic games from this collection because of Sonic Origins and on top of that their delisting their other games on the 6th. People buy these older games instead of emulating them to support the companies and also because its the legal way of doing so. People are willing to buy older games again but when you take that away from them it only encourages piracy. Companies like SEGA do things like this and wonder why people emulate games. Sailing the seven seas is never wrong.
For 14 years, Sega sold its classics on Steam, and in 2016, it expanded upon them by creating an all-in-one bundle featuring a cozy UI along with new titles. This has always been a legal way to purchase old Sega games on Steam and actually have the direct game ROMs included in the files for archival or emulation reasons. You own everything, and very few game devs have done this.
The delisting of certain titles (announced for 12/06/24), is a significant blow—especially when many of these games don't even have remakes out. Now, people will purchase these older games out of FOMO, and new buyers will never be able to 100% the bundle without the removed og titles. They already removed Sonic 1-3 a few years ago due to having the Sonic Origins "remakes".
I only purchased what was missing essentially because 'FOMO'. There is little to no reason to de-list these games. While this collection is not my preferred way to play (the input and sound latency is not great) others prefer to stick to their guns and play the otherwise only legal method to play some of these games; and taking away those choices is never a good thing.

If you are thinking about getting this DON'T Sega are going to be delisting most of the games on December 6th with no reason for it you are better of just emulating the games

Perhaps the whole "Sega does what Nintendon't" thing isn't as good as we thought it was
They delisted the good Sonic Games, plus when I tried to get one game out of this I had to install the entire thing - such a waste of space
I can't run Sonic Origins, so I'm completely out of a way to play the original games without getting a second hand Mega Drive and copies of the games (way more expensive and SEGA isn't making any money off that)

This is a great collection and method to preserve amazing classics.
If you're planning to delist these games only to re-release it in some other way, then please inform people about it at the same time as you announce the delisting.
These games can easily be played for free. Do it. It's morally justified. You keep the ROMs. Back then this was a nod to gaming preservation as you could get the ROMs from these collections. As the US government just denied the rights of millions from preserving their own games, SEGA simply has rugpulled their fans and customers from doing the same in the future. They hate you, they will always hate you. Pirate their games, pirate the newest Sonic games. It's very easy and will always be a possibility, we will make sure of it. Even when SEGA is dead and buried, all their games will be free, Denuvo be damned.
Sega how bout you change your mind with delisting the games. Treat these old gems the same way you would treat old classic movies and do not let them be lost to time.

sega forced my hand in buying the whole collection. seriously pisses me off that they would de-list their own legacy.
Removing the Sonic trilogy from the bundle was a terrible move by Sega, which was followed by the release of Origins, a worse, more expensive version of the same games. And now they doubled down by delisting their entire Genesis catalogue. Awful choices all around.

Unless Sega is planning on making updated versions and collections of these Genesis and Dreamcast games, it is pure greed and a blind business decision to delist all of these games.
Get this as soon as possible. Some games are only 0.99 cents. There are also extensive mods that you can download from the workshop that range from quality improvements to entirely new experiences. You still have time to cop a bunch of these games for cheap before December 6th.

Not gonna lie, finding out that this title will be delisted soon is kinda sad. Sure, I can still redownload my copy, but it's still not very fun. Is there going to be some kind of subscription service? Are all of the games on here gonna go onto the Nintendo Switch Online sub? Why are we delisting this, I wanna know. :(
Is there any valid reason for why this amazing Mega Drive/Genesis collection is being delisted? See folks, this is why digital games isn't true ownership. Do yourself a favor and either get this bundle before it's gone, get a physical copy, or go the emulation route.
SEGA are complete toss pots, delisting these games and no reason has been mentioned why. Probably trying to sell these again as a subscription based service.......YOU WILL OWN NOTHING AND BE HAPPY!
It was a good collection, it is now not. Sega had delisted Sonic games games cynically in advance of Sonic Origins and now they're planning on delisting far more games.
I regret buying this and I'd recommend against buying this or any future SEGA releases or collections, as they'll likely repeat the process once more.
Yanno, I had been meaning to pick up a few more of the titles on this for a while, but since it's going to be delisted and they don't actually want my money, I guess they don't need it. I paid for these when they were new originally anyway, often at $30 apiece, and I would have been fine getting more than I had at these prices as they were a good deal, but they apparently want people to pirate them so... I guess here we are. So be it.

Sega has recently made the baffling decision to unlist nearly all of their Mega Drive and Dreamcast titles from the Steam store. Probably to sell them to us AGAIN later at a higher price in some crappy collection. Although I already own these games and will be ablo to still access them, I cannot, in any way, condone this choice.
At a time when game preservation is more critical than ever, this move feels like a slap in the face to consumers and fans alike. Removing access to these iconic titles restricts new players and longtime fans from experiencing an essential part of gaming history.
For shame, Sega—this blatant disregard for preservation and accessibility is deeply disappointing and concerning.
Really SEGA? Stop delisting all of your games. I really REALLY hope you make a newer sega genesis collection, because this is just unnecessary.
I have every game including the sonic ones, And its a shame future customers will never have this experience. Stop killing games. This is all so they can relist later at a higher price with no way to play the original soon.
Making your consumers pirate your games after you delist them and get rid any chance to purchase them is a terrible move by a company that should know by now the only reason they live is through their fanbase and the whales that pay into them.

Sega, why are you delisting this collection? All you're doing is preventing people from enjoying you're older games whilst also increasing the likelihood people will pirate them. Its a lose-lose scenario.
I would give this a great rating that you could obtain on a mega-deal through Steam. However, not only are there issues with the emulation here in some of the games but Sega is now removing this collection.

I have these games (some of them being hard copies) on multiple systems, so even if they discontinue all of these games I will always have a backup. The RPGs are some of my all-time favorites.

- yeah, there are a good chunk that didn't seem to age well
- also yeah, it sucks to see this delisted cuz (rf: game preservation)
Why discontinue this? When you remove legal ways to access content, that's when people turn to piracy. It's throwing away both money and the respect of your customers.
Great collection of Mega Drive games with Steam Workshop support and VR. Sadly It's getting delisted on the 6th of December so last chance to buy.
Its cool but they are taking it down and so you wont be able to download workshop content. Just emulate and pirate your stuff.

Playing this game after so many years brings back so many great memories. and the nastalgia is priceless. :) I've got all of the series except for the first phantasy star. And I'm checking out the online game that I got lucky finding, to see if it holds true to the story line of these older games. Phantasy Star 2 Online New genesis is it's name. Plus there is a Phantasy Star 3 comeing out some time this year or next as well that I'm going to play when it comes out. XD I Can't wait! :) I have always LOVED this game ever since I played it when I was 10 years old.
Decent emulator features and a cool hubworld type thing
NONE of the Sonic the Hedgehog games are included or are sold as DLC for this "game". That is Sonic 1, 2, 3, or Sonic and Knuckles. So there are 3 achievements that CAN NOT be attained. When you buy this it has ONE game and you have to buy the other 57 games as DLC for around $30.
I'm guessing that when Sonic Mania or some other "definitive" bundle released they delisted the OG Sonic games. For FUCKS sakes Sonic is THE TITLE SEGA character and is even the game they show you when you load this game up. That alone means I can not in good conscience recommend this.

it works great as an emulator in desktop,but the vr functionality doesent exist despite advetising itself as such,you cannot select anytihng to get past the main menu as it does not register inputs
idk why this age restricted smh. n e ways, love sonic 3 mj on the track. work pretty good, rewind feature literally hacks smh.
Love the effort they've put into this, down to simulating room noise to capture those late nights in the 90's rinsing Sonic 2.

This collection of Sega Genesis games is pretty good, some odd game choices in there, but not overall bad.
Game stopped working for me, and while checking why I found many people on the same boat, but no solution. Thank you SEGA.
