Real good classic game. Honestly, the best in the series by a mile.
The original Plants vs Zombies was my favorite pc game as a kid. It was the one game I'd play after coming home from school each day, and it was exactly what I needed after a rough day. I used to play it for hours and try to 100% it over and over again. It's not until returning to it years later that I remembered how much this game meant to me and I'm glad it holds up so well to this day. It's still an amazing tower defense game with lots of content and replayability. Even though I don't play it as obsessively as I used to, it still holds a special place in my heart. An absolute classic, and remains as PopCap's greatest achievement.
10/10 What is there to say about this game at this point? About a timeless classic which is by far the BEST game in popcap's entire library of games, about a pioneer of not just tower defence games but video game soundtracks entirely. There isn't one thing to hate about this game because it's perfected everything about this game you would and wouldn't expect and lives on 18 years later. 10/10 This game rules!
It's a classic, just as enjoyable as I remember it to be, Would be great if EA were to release a "modernize" version of this (mainly for widescreen resolution), but it's EA, they don't care... well, at least they don't do anything stupid to this re-release and just release it as is.
I hope they won't ruin the franchise by releasing a sequel with fuck load of micro-transactions... right? Oh wait-
Nice and funny game but unfortunately there's allot repetition in the game-play. and the tree of wisdom get me sick for reaching it to 100 feet tall for the achievement. but i can say surely u gonna like it . you should give it a try
One of the best childhood games. This game is worthy of 100%'ing, then continuing to play because it's just so nostalgic and fun. Please, if you haven't played this game, do yourself a favour. 👍👍👍

This game is still amazing to this day, with endless game play, with the mini games, puzzles, survival and of course the main adventure itself, there's a lot to do!! Not to mention the amazing soundtrack, and art style, so in summary, this game is amazing!
This is the best version of Plants vs Zombies, created before whoever bought the series and filled it up with microtransactions (this version does not have real money microtransactions of any kind). This game is worth every single penny (even without sale) and it truly is a classic. It is silly, Punny, and overall fun. 10/10 game

A simplistic tower defense game that does its job amazingly well. The gameplay is always kept fresh because they keep introducing new plants for you to use almost EVERY LEVEL. (there are 50 levels by the way.) And don't even get me started on the music. It is AMAZING. Do yourself a favor and buy this game. It is well worth the price.

this game was my childhood its hard fun cool and great animations one of my favs is the coffee bean animation i love to get the achievements but some of them like the yeti one or the grow 100 feet of the wisdom tree are just really one that was annoying was NO FUNGUS AMONG US that was hard but fun i really recomend this game.

Plants vs. Zombies brings to mind the brilliant designers of the classic arcade games of the early 80's. Designers who, with access to scarily primitive hardware, scant complex controls, and often the singular player-controlled verb of "move," created iconic, immortal and wonderfully fun video games. Plants vs. Zombies is a game played with the mouse, and there are no exceptions made to this premise. There are no hotkeys, or alternate control schemes. It is a game your grandma could play, and I bet she'd like it. Also just like those old arcade games, Plants vs. Zombies, in its genius birthed of simplicity, comes to mind rapidly when considering what games are prime examples of art. Rest in Peace PopCap.
A masterpiece of a game. That is how I would put it, it is quite sad what EA has done to this franchise. Back in the early to mid 2010's this was my favorite game franchise, but the state of it now is just sad. EA please make a new game, I beg you. PVZ 3 has been in development for ever. But back to this game, it's just stupid fun. The game play loop is addicting, and it's always fun getting new plants. I have played this game for multiple more hours on my phone, and it just never gets old. You also get all of this for only $5, one of the best deals in gaming ever if you ask me. Please do yourself a favor and pick up this game, you will not regret it. 10/10

Basically game good
I'm honestly unsure how I sunk 260 hours into this but I did. Cute, fun and tactical. I don't generally play zombie games or tower defense games, but somehow this hit all the right buttons to be fun and addictive.
The game itself is great. No new improvements (and from other reviews apparently it breaks sometimes?) and as we all know EA is a greedy company.
I still recommend it if you haven't played it.

What a timeless classic. If you haven't played Plants vs. Zombies, you absolutely need to at some point. It's a very simple game that sucks out so much of your time but in a good way. It's a basic game that progressively gets faster throughout each level all the way to when you finish the game. It's a very replayable game, with very lovable characters, music, levels, and much more!

It is what it is - one of the most classic tower defence-like games made. The theming and gameplay is fun. The game is not well optimised for modern systems but is definitely playable without major issues. Lots of side modes and missions to enjoy and provide variety while you're at it.
nostalgic like you dont know how good the credits are the songs and mucic are nostalgic af if played this game back in day play its so fun
This is a great game! It is my favourite tower defense game! I used to play Plants vs. Zombies on my iPad 24/7, so it was only natural to pick this up!
I love the lane mechanic that Plants vs. Zombies introduced versus the regular path enemies just walk on. There are also a whole lot of plants to choose from, and there are many ways to play. I can mix and match my arsenal, along with play fun mini games and challenges, or even great challenges of my own!
Overall, I really recommend this game! It's easy to learn but hard to master! And it's a game that will let you play your way! Get it!

Likely my first video game ever, one of the best of all time for sure
One of my favorite games that I keep coming back to. Very easy to get started. New features/challenges are introduced one by one so you won't get overwhelmed. Played it on several platforms and 100% completed it at least once.

It's Plants vs Zombies! It's GOTY edition! What's not to like! It periodically goes on sale dirt cheap, but 5 bucks regular price ain't bad. Kids can have fun with it as well - I know, it involves killing Zombies, but Zombies are bad and aren't they dead already anyway?
I am well versed with this game even before making a Steam account and I still think that this game has aged very well despite some of its more antiquated mechanics not seen in some chinese exclusive versions of PvZ or in the console releases.
Far far better than that crappy mobile version that deprives you of lawn mowers of all things.

I love this game, I got it for my kid and his PS2 back in the day and we had many many fun hours playing it. Bought it recently on sale and very much worth the money. Still very enjoyable play - besides the main adventure, there are mini-games and puzzles and upgrades to gear to buy. Best $5 I have spent for a while!

Holy moly. This is the best game I have ever played. If you haven't picked this game up, what are you waiting for? This game has some of the best, marvelous, and delicious animation and artwork I have EVER seen.
If you are going to buy this game and have the intention to play it on MACOS, DONT. Apple has since disabled bit-32 software to be executed on modern versions of MacOs for a long time, and this gem of a game is bit-32. The only work around causes immense lag and frame drops after a pea hits a zombie and EA owned PopCap doesn't seem to be keen on updating the game to be bit-64 or modern MacOs compatible.
TLDR: don't buy if you intend to play on mac.

While this port is a bit rough this is still such a fun tower defense game.
Still charming and engaging to this day, with enough depth to keep you on your toes.
Just wish the port would get the HD treatment, or we would get a proper PvZ2 that wasn't a mobile game.

One of the best games I ever played. Good and clean cartoony graphics, godly soundtrack, plenty of plants to choose from, plenty of different zombie types, so many plant build options, a lot of extra content like minigames, endless modes and puzzle modes with things like playing as the Zombies. This game is just a lot of fun and I would recommend it to just about anyone.
it's a classic, extremely cheap and super fun. there's all kinds of challenges, you can replay in a new game+ type way where you have everything unlocked already and once you've done everything you wanted to there's a garden you can take care of afterwards. i'd heavily recommend buying it
anyway time for the sentimental stuff
i grew up with this, i had it on a CD full with other popcap games back when we had a family computer. i'm pretty sure back then i overlooked this version of the game because i was too young to understand. when they released, i much preferred garden warfare and it's sequel since those captured my attention better. after turning 18 i felt like returning to this game for whatever reason and i've been neck deep in the franchise ever since. this game and franchise as a whole has had such a big impact on my life, both when i was younger and even now
i know this part of this review is more so just me being appreciative and sappy but i'd genuinely recommend at least TRYING if you've never played this game before. it might not be as important as it is to me for you, but even then it's a fun little time sink if you like strategy and TD games. there's a demo since this is an older game and if you don't have enough money there's a mobile port with ads (though, i haven't played that so i don't know how different it is)
when I beat the game the song said that there are zombies on my lawn and when I looked out of my window there were zombies on my lawn! Please send help!
This game has good music, gameplay, and graphics. It has provided me and many others a plentiful amount of fun, even after beating the adventure mode! So overall, it just does everything amazingly, replayability and everything else. So, what're you doing? Go ahead and play this game now!
