i purchased Creatures Inc. on December 14th, 2019 and last played it February 28th, 2020.
The reason i only have 1.8 hours is because that's about the extent of the game. There were either no updates, or no significant content updates, effectively making the game seem abandoned. after reading some forum posts, apparently the developer had another Early Access game that they were working on instead of Creature's Inc. - you can click on the dev / publisher link to see that game, and to see that its still in early access / in a non-acceptable state.
The developer has released a lot of 'dev log' style updates - basically words and no content. Granted, i have this game uninstalled, so maybe there have been updates, but there doesn't seem to be any patches occurring for this game in form of patch notes or released content notations.
So, from what i can tell, you have a game that's 'actively being worked on' yet no patches in four or so years, while also being developed by a...person? group? that has another, early access game that's 'in development.'
Either wait until its released, or until theres actually enough / any content that you feel is the correct amount to justify purchasing Creatures Inc.
Or, better yet, just go to the nearest trash can and toss in fifteen bones - that trash can has done a lot more for you than today's asset flippers...i mean game developers
It's awful. Bought it a long time ago, thought I'd try it out a second time. Uninstalled it then, and again I am going to uninstall it. Couldn't even chop a tree with the axe I found at the motel. Can't jump and too little to interact with. I have nothing to fight with and anywhere there might be some loot, it is overrun with creatures. Just too little polish for me. Thought it might have improved some since last time but I don't see it. I have no idea what I paid for it, but anything is too much.
Seems to be dead to the devs apparently. No updates in over a year and the dev is working on another game instead. Don't buy this prime example of why EA on Steam really is a double edged sword. You get your good and your bad, unfortunately this falls into the BAD.
Love the idea behind the game, but it just plays like crap and has no real content.
If you paid money for this, just flog yourself. And I'm not talking the good flog either. This game is THAT bad.
0 content 0 updates
Bunch of assets dropped in an empty world with some creatures and base building.
Devs have another game they are working on which is just as bad and empty.

Do NOT give them your money. PLEASE!
Do not buy.
At first it seemed like a genuine early access title and I played it for quite a bit.
But now after almost 10 months since the last update i can confirm that this is dead rubber. it may have been a quick cash grab or the dev's just couldnt support it anymore.
Whatever the case, stay away.
progression of the game has been very slow. not much new in the year i have been hopping in and out of the game.
it's pretty rough. and with no multi-player it's a very uneventful game.
i hope to see more added soon...
Okay so I've played for a little over half an hour so far and this is my personal thoughts so far:
1. The title screen music is annoying. To me it doesn't fit the eerieness of monsters, survival, etc. I would imagine it would be more of a dark/sinister song. This may not be what the devs are going for though so if that's the case I'll shut up on this.
2. Gameplay - very basic. Graphics are cool.
3. Harvesting is okay. You gather resources decent enough. The animation of harvesting is very basic and some of the trees you're unable to harvest...
4. Monsters - I love the idea of the monsters, however some of them don't even attack you. The spiders ran up to me and just aggressively bumped into me...the ogres or whatever they are, just stood there and let me shoot them.
5. Vehicle - Also basic, driving is okay. Camera angle feels backwards to me, but again maybe that's just me. I will say thank you for adding a "flip" option :D
6. Weapons - I don't see a reason to put the 9mm shells in a box. I buy 6-8 boxes and have to open all of them just to reload my weapon. I don't feel that it adds much...it's just more tedious. Reloading is fast which is a plus when you start to get swarmed.
7. Eventually more weapons and gear would be cool.
8. Building is cool but would like to see a more intricate build screen...maybe level ups, learning new things etc.
This game has a lot of potential and the idea of taming monsters or creating a little monster army is definitely a cool concept...Almost a cross of Ark / Overlord but darker. I'm excited to see how the game continues to develop. Please don't turn this into a dead game. For those of you who enjoy seeing games grow I would definitely recommend. If you're looking for a finished copy I would hold off before purchasing.
Once the dev stated he was helping with Invasion 2037 (by the trailer, it looks like a clone of this game), I figured this game would fall by the wayside without updates and such. It feels to me now that it was a bait and switch.
This game needs work, plain and simple. The first few times trying to get on this game, I had to force shutdown. Apparently, there is a movie/trailer that is supposed to play, but all I kept getting was a black screen. Once I finally got into the game (by deleting that movie file, per the player recommendation on forums), I had to reset my screen resolution. The last time I set the game to my screen's native res, the play and settings buttons disappeared off the bottom of the screen. Talking with the dev about this on forums seemed pointless, as he said it must be something on my end or something I was doing wrong. Odd that quite a few others had the same problem.
Gameplay itself is okay. Keeping an eye on food and water is a must, which is understandable in a survival game. There's fresh water sources to drink from, and bottles of water and food can be found in the various buildings or bought from a vendor.
Money is earned by killing mobs - if a creature you tamed kills the mob, you usually don't get the money for the kill.
Inventory management is a must. Expect to travel back to your base or the safe zone frequently as you're out looting the buildings, as most items only stack to five.
Multiplayer is good, and comes in handy when you get to the area where mobs literally seem to fly at you and one shot you. Only problem is that multiplayer gets taken out to be fixed every other month or so.
At this point in time, I'm regretting not asking for a refund after speaking with the dev about the problems mentioned above. Maybe one day he'll work on this game again, once he's learned what to do from Invasion.
When this first came out, there were 3 of us that could connect and play together. Somewhere down the road, the developers took that option away. The game then became dependant upon the developers' server, which was also short lived. In single game (only thing available now), it started me out with $52. There USED to be axes and bats laying around to be picked up and used. . . . now they cost $100 to $150. Soooooo if a player is starting out with only $52, there are no weapons to be picked up, no way to melee fight, how can he/she survive a creature attack in order to earn money or gather resources. It the major bugs (maybe lack of interest from the Developers for Creatures Inc) to pix this game, makes me not to even want to go near their other games. When the game came out I bought 3 at $9.95 + taxes.
Interesting, I am sure a lot is coming with this game. Some audio issues with vehicles and astroid showers which aren't changeable with the audio settings. Good balance between traveling on foot and how many creatures you run into. Some instructions needed for his to load your gun. While streaming, a friend in chat looked it up and learned that you had to open an ammo box before bullets could be used. Didn't know what to do with survivors when found, they need something that indicates what they want. I guessed and got it right. Vehicles don't get damaged when hitting threes and/or creatures. Creatures aren't hurt the. Running into them with a vehicle. I don't know how to pick up building pieces when they don't place right. Not sure how to even break a piece if not wanted. Hope that there will be more interaction with searching for loot like, rummaging through cars, desks, cabinets. Map looks good but lake is shallow and can't swim. I would love to see one of my creatures in game ;) if not, maybe something more girly at least. This would be fun as multiplayer. I have played a few early access games recently and this one is more balanced as fighting/exploring goes.
Great solid game for an Early Access. they keep us updated with fixes and new content. I have the feeling it's gonna be better by time
The first contact with the game is great, i like the creatures but the world is empty. I know its an Early Access, but i need more content to appreciate the game. I really like the concept and hope that in a few months the game will have a lot of more content,
A great concept, but a lot of work need to be done. In this game, you can build things, you can shoot things and run over creatures with a car. For now its a thumbs up!
I first purchased this game in march. It was only a couple of quid and i wasn't really interested in the game that was on offer back then. I bought the game simply because the concept is much to my liking but if done horribly it can be appalling.
I didn't want to play the game when i bought it, i wanted to wait hoping i had made an investment.
Today I played for the first time since the new update, which as far as I can tell, has switched it to Singleplayer with contracts and XP.
This game is definitely on the up and to purchase this game now at the low price it is, is an absolute steal!
Really hope this game meets my expectations but for now the Dev's are perfectly consistent IMHO and I'm loving it so far.
(Actual Gameplay Review)
It has a lot of work needed, but overall it's addictively fluent. It's easy to pick up and play, grab loot bits to sell them and buy gear or, invest in building with a satisfactory crafting system. I'm not an expert but i have 600+ hours on DayZ and 200+ on SCUM. I can see many hours being spent on this game, perhaps wait for a few more creatures that are tamable or until Multiplayer gets reinstated.
I'm quite a Zeek so I'd love it if this game would introduce slow walking zombies as just cannon fodder or for XP farming, the current creatures can be killed but you need to get them stuck (in a doorway) to kill them with melee, the cash gain be it a couple of dollars per Zed and XP be low as well but I think it will fill what is currently a big but somewhat vacant map and make starting out more fun.
This game has such promise, I hope to see it progress and become something great. I like that the game at this stage is not too challenging. It is nice to see so many updates from the developers.
It seems like a great game. I really want to play it but it is too laggy even when I put all the graphics on low. I can run games that look way better than this and for some reason, I can't run this game.
This game has a lot of things to do (tame creatures, save survivors, explore a really big map, buy new weapons, play with friends, build your own house.... well, a lot of things, but the best part is the community and the devs, the community is so respectful and friendly and the devs are constantly fixing bugs, patching the game with new features, helping players that are having problems to understand something (how to upgrade walls, for example), hearing the players about bugs they had and fixing them up.
Remember that this game is on early acces and u might not like some things, but I already told you, the devs are constantly fixing and patching the game, also they have a suggestion channel on the Creatures Inc. discord where you can suggest some ideas and if they like it they will maybe put it into the game.
Hope you liked the review, see you in the cavern! (if you find it hehe)
First impression after 4h of playing in early alph version: 7/10
Pros:
- Nice graphic
- nice gameplay
- Interesting concept
- Frequent updates
- Building system seems to be well designed (easy but effective)
- It has HUGE potential
Cons:
I know it's still "under construction" but at the moment:
- Small content (only few weapons, only few monster, only few not very intresting locations + few already interesting location which need to be polished)
- some cosmetic problems with sounds on multiplayer
- till now no quests or ideas what to do after few h of playing
- system of car driving similar to a simulator of eight-wheel bathpool driving
- not very challenging opponents (even band of werewolves can be beaten with simple makarov pistol)
Summary:
I think it's good to have this game. It can be very good title in few more months of updates.
To Devs:
I hope you will succeed with Creaures Inc, it's a good start - I keep my fingers crossed for you.
Loving it so far. Great practice for any pubg type games. Building needs to be worked on a bit. IE Trying to make a garage and made it two stories high but can't put a wall up top and leave bottom open for a car. Need a garage door would help. Can't jump on certain things like cars. You should be able to jump on top of a car. No idea how to demolish a building piece yet.. Will update as I play.
So the basis of this game is that you spawn at a little outpost/safezone. There you find your starter weapons, bounty signs for your creatures, and a trader that you BUY from (no selling in this game) gear, taming equipment, guns, etc. Outside of that area is just a vast world for you to explore, loot, and build in. Kill creatures and escort trapped citizens to gain money and buy more gear. Use that gear to kill more things, get more money, buy better gear. IT IS EARLY ACCESS. Some of the content is not available yet. I would say that at it's current price of under $10 USD, and if you are willing to be patient while they add new content and fix things, it is a worthy cheap game to go mess around and kill shit with friends.
THE GOOD:
-Runs VERY smooth, no issues in that department.
- I enjoy the combat and damage of the guns thus far. It took almost a full mag from the pistol to take down a werewolf.
-The melee weapon damage is a bit op considering it stops them when they get hit...But who doesnt love smashing monsters with a club?
-YES, YOU CAN tame the creatures in the game, it is fairly simple to accomplish and doesnt take 20+ years like ARK does. They tend to mostly just serve as a temporary meatshield so no hard taming requirements makes sense
-You WILL get swarmed when you run into one of the towns, my heart actually skipped a beat when i ran into the first city and got swarmed by 20ish werewolves at once.
-Food and water meters actually work
-The building system is very straightforward and easy to master
-They do have a save system, so if you decide to close your P2P session with your buddy, the host can just save and you guys can hop back in whenever.
THE BAD:
-To start this off, there are no servers for this game. If you want to play, you have to set up your own server and HOPE your friends can join your session. If you join a server someone else started, prepare for them to randomly close the lobby and lose everything in your inventory. (Solo servers are a thing but are boring AF)
-Tier 1 player built houses can be broken into with the starter axe in about 30 seconds
-Half of the weapons at the tradepost are unavailable.
-You can outrun every single creature ive encountered at walking speed because they stop in place to attack.
-There is no open/close door mechanic on the pregenerated structures, they are just swinging doors and animals will follow you inside and kill you.
-There is no PVP as of yet, or looting of bodies.
-When you die, it resets your character skin (though this isnt a huge deal because you can change your preset back and forth during the game with no side effects)
Nice game, nice graphics.
This game need a bit more additions but the Dev's are very present and listening to their players.
They update often, add content and take care of bug fixes.
I looked all over for an early access game i thought would be good, and while creatures inc is currently not mind blowing i think it has potential to be, i love the concept combined with the open world.
i cant wait to see what the future updates will bring to this game that has some kickass potential
