If you chose to take this job, it will involve helping those in your community though completing their various requests of potions, ingredients, and tinctures. Sometimes the client won't know what they want and you will need to use your knowledge from the various almanacs to decipher what they are looking for. Water and grow plants, combine items and make sure you give the correct pigeon the item in order to fulfill the clients requests.

Dear Apothecary is a short single player, casual, simulator-esque game with puzzle elements. You will take on the role of the community Apothecary while you raise the funds necessary for medical school. Clients within the community will send their requests by pigeon courier and pick up their request with the same pigeon. Send the remedy to the wrong person, or not at all, and you aren't getting paid. Although, not everyone should have the correct item sent to them if they aren't trustworthy. You can learn about the clientele, ingredients and learn the recipes through the various almanacs within your place of work and it is encouraged that you do so.
Many hours of time period research has went into this game as I wanted all of the remedies to be based off of medical knowledge in the time period either by using actual recipes or a rendition of them. You can even play the early English dice game "Hazard" or read period accurate poems while you wait for a pigeon courier to come. Dear Apothecary is made by a solo developer.

Unfortunately, I also experienced the camera sensitivity issue. I tried moving my mouse in the smallest gestures possible, I tried changing the mouse sensitivity in game as well as on the laptop itself, and finally I switched to a controller. The controller made it almost playable, but not quite.
I really really want to be able to play this, as the concept is something I’ve been looking for, for years. I’ll keep an eye out for future projects from this developer, because their ideas have great potential. However, I can’t play this, which is disappointing.
It's a game that's relatively easy enough to learn and play. Grab ingredients, combine, complete quest orders. The quest hint is too vague. Maybe you can make it that you can pay in gold for the right answers/ingredient needed? So there won't be a need for a tongue twister in the quest and quest hint itself. About the display settings itself, my hardware is definitely not the best so my settings are usually low. Initially it didn't do anything but when I restarted the game, then the settings kicked in. So sometimes, when you change a setting from the main menu, the settings that you chose didn't register, so i have to redo. So glitchyness is still a work in progress. The game play itself is super great for those who like easy crafting games.
This game has a great concept and the foundations of a great future game. It took a bit to understand how the mechanics work, but that's just like any other game. I enjoyed playing this although I wish the mention of the hint book was placed earlier in the game. A few things bothered me such as the motion blur and the dark corner near the stairway making it difficult to view. Outside of the house into the backyard was extremely laggy although this may be caused by my personal laptop. The mechanics of picking up and placings objects could be brushed up a bit as well. But if you're looking for a game to waste hours on, I highly recommend.
Dear Apothecary is a really fun little game. I really enjoy it, and I enjoy the challenge of figuring out what clients are requesting. A really good way to pass the time!
If you want the experience of being locked inside a Daggerfall House with nothing to do but create potions, this is amazing.
5/5 because there's not much out there to fill this need. While other apothecary games exist, I haven't come across anything quite with this unique feel.
This game has a lot of potential! Gives you a ton of stuff to work with!
But I run into an issue where after some point, the game stopped giving me requests. I would have to quit the game to the title screen and go back in a lot, which is alright most of the time! ...Except for when I get back into the game and some of the requests.. break.. in which they do nothing and I end up standing around doing nothing.
Game is good! Just has a lot of stuff that still needs fixing!
I found this game by accident when I was looking for the famous 'Dear Esther' and decided to give it a try.
I just had a short look at it but I could instantly see how much love and work is behind all this. I really liked the creative idea of the game and the beautiful graphics with lots of attention for details.
Yes, there are still some bugs and my old computer had some trouble with the grapics, but after all it seems so be a well-made game that needs more attention! I hope more people end up here and play it!
Poorly optimized and terrible performance especially given how crude and rudimentary the graphics are. After a lengthy loading screen, you'll have a 50% chance of being put into the game environment which is incredibly difficult to move around in, much less even look around. Camera sensivity is insanely high, unusably so. Even with the in-game sensitivity set at the lowest, you'll need to drop your mouse dpi greatly to look around normally.
I would suggest waiting until the devs post an update to clean some of this up.

Review:
Dear Apothecary has a pretty fun and relaxing premise combined with soothing medieval music/visuals and a decent game hook. That is, provided the idea of a virtual job as a reclusive apothecary sounds enticing.
The basic gist is you're an apothecary aiming to raise money for medical school that you'll be attending in 40 days. You also have to take your entry exam which sits on your desk, staring back at you until you take it, and you have to get that done within 15 days. It's kind of a funny idea to know that there's a virtual test in a virtual job that you can totally still procastinate on taking.
To prepare you for the test as well as help you fulfill orders, you've got several books to guide you on recipes, growing things, and also information on people in your town so that you can suss out who you should sell your goods to and presumably who to avoid. The whole setup is pretty well laid out and once you understand how to grow and combine ingredients (it took us a little while), it all works out fluidly. After your order is ready, you hand it off to a carrier pigeon and off it goes to (hopefully) help your faithful clients.
There's also a dice game in there, though we took one look at the massive rule sheet and acknowledged it's probably fun but fled so that we could finish studying for our entrance exam. Gotta get into that med school after all!
So if you're down to be a virtual apothecary out to help the local denizens, this may be the game for you! We definitely don't regret it for under $5.
