Honestly the vanilla game is meh and I'd rather play session if this game wasn't mod compatible. But with mods, this game is actually insane. Thank god I finally got a pc and decided to put time into modding because this is literally the only game I can just shut my mind off, play, and just chill. I would 1000% recommend getting this game if you intend on modding it.

Broken, controller support broken. Not playable. Avoid. My game time was a long time ago but the devs have abandoned game.

Honestly imo, with mods this game is really incredible tons of maps and custom gear along with pretty realistic gravity settings. The set up process is lowk cancer so watch a milky video if you ever need help.

Yeah don't buy it, I bought this game a long freaking time ago, not long after it released and the last major update was 2 years ago, the rest of it relies on user content in their god awful mod menu. They took away all the good realism mods, they don't have a scoring system which feels like one of the most basic parts of a skate boarding game. Emulate Skate 3 and/or wait for the new Skate to come out, don't give these dudes your money

I recently spent 18 hours playing Skater XL, and I have to say, I thoroughly enjoyed it! The realistic physics and smooth controls make it a skateboarding game like no other. Pulling off tricks feels incredibly satisfying, and the attention to detail in the skate mechanics is impressive.

I love this game so much. I got it in early and it worked great. One day I could no longer play and no matter what controller i use i can not get it to play. I play sessions and ive never had this problem. I just want to play my favorite game again

Best Skateboarding Game Ever

Played Skate 3 from release date until this game dropped during LockDowns, haven't bothered playing Session Or Skate 3 since. The vanilla version gets your feet wet, then when you get the mods installed you open pandoras box.

Think of a spot in real life or that you saw in a skate video and it''s more than likely available to skate, same goes for any gear or so on. The possibilities are endless, the Devs more or less gave up but the community carrying it strong.

Can't say the game is good or poor. What i will say is the game is friendly for new players to dual stick skating but the game is buggy. Would give this game a positive vote but the devs gave up on this game long time ago and continue to rely on mods to keep it relevant. Mods can and will make this game shine especially the stats menu to make the physics feel less 'moon floaty'.

Buy the game on sale and for christ sakes dont expect anything from the dev team. Only from dedicated mod creators.

Same flaws + a too complicated gameplay : "huge" ollie, switch inverted, 2 colors for foots...

Doing a trick flip is much easier than doing an Ollie !
You have to be very precise between the top and bottom of the stick, otherwise it flips every time.
Same, doing a very technical grind or slide is easier than doing a simple 50-50.

In fact, you can land insane tricks doing anything, especially on flats and jumping over stairs or gaps.
On the other hand, doing Ollie manuals is much harder than in real life, which is a shame.

I think this game is not suitable for the Steam Deck controller :
Either it's the controller that is not precise, or the inputs are poorly programmed...

Its good but honestly just get an emulator and get skate 3 for the 360.

Buggy, poor performance, ENTIRELY reliant on user created mods for a playable or enjoyable experience. Controls are sloppy, switch stance doesn't make sense. Devs have long since left the building. ABSOLUTELY NOT worth the asking price, I wouldn't consider buying this game unless it was $10 or under and even then I wouldn't jump for it.
You will spend more time trying to mod and configure this game than actually playing it. Absolutely worthless in vanilla.

Its fun for a few hours but like other reviewers have said, its boring. Devs really dgaf. Its been in the same state since 2020. Dont reccommend

Fairly shallow skating mechanics imo, not a ton of tricks, not many maps. Feels like it exists in an uncanny valley between all the arcade-y skating games and the more grounded/realistic Session.

Easy Day Studios is a scam company.
The devs don't care about the community or the game and never really did.
Game has been in constant state of being nearly unplayable for years now - really sad for day one supporters.
Dead multiplayer lobbies, every official map is lacking or too tiny, new content only trickles in through mods that get broken after the devs decide to update the game by adding useless stuff that no one needs or wants - they are simply out of touch and want to make it seem like the game is still being worked on.
Would not recommend spending money on this because the devs certainly don't deserve it

If you are a skater this game is for you just like real skating it is a little difficult to get use to at first but once you get it down your gonna be getting the same feeling you do when you land a trick in real life

i think this actually has the best controls of any skating game out there, although it does definitely take some learning. it is insanely satisfying to hit tricks in this, but there are a lot of downsides. the normal price of this game is $40 which is way too much, it should be $10 or $15. also, mods are basically a necessity imo. i do think its worth buying, but only if you already enjoy skating games, and/or, if its on sale

Not good if product is not displaying in game. I've looked up on youtube and google for a result but nothing came up. Spent 10 bucks for nothing.

Wanted to see if SXL had improved over the years, I remember this game when it just was a tech demo. Booted the game up, couldn't use my Xbox controller even though in Big Picture mode. Checked the forums, people experiencing same issues, tried for 20 min to get it to work trying every solution mentioned including UNPLUGGING ALL MY PERIPHERALS and it still didn't work. Game hasn't been updated since July. Just play Session. What a waste

best game going once you've modded it added maps that community made and fixed the majority of the bugs its great worth the money just a shame the money goes to developers who dont care
