I never played sims 3 in my life before apart from the Wii and Xbox i enjoy the main version of the game it's got a cool neighbourhood lets you go anyway you like even if Shamack is still at home watching TV i love how much sims get outside on bikes and cars the driving is my favouite part of the game watching shamack going to work or community area and also being able to visit other houses i made him visit gary and both had pizza for tea This is a great game to buy for your PC and Laptop i do like Sims 2 and 4 more but the more i come on this game it's like a new story awaits so i would reccomend buying this game if you love games like sims
I mean, what can I say really? It's a classic! I've been playing the Sims games ever since I was a kid, I've played all of the Sims games and I've also played good chunk of their expansion packs for games 2-4. Well lately I've been playing Sims 4, which has never quite scratched the Sims itch in the way that Sims 3 does. So I decided to buy it since my CD no longer worked and man I forgot just how perfect this game was haha. I missed the color wheel so much! And being able to buy my own car was something I didn't even realize I missed. It's all the little things that add up with this game, totally worth it. If you've been missing this classic, fear not, it is the same as it once was. :)
I think the sims 3 is far superior than the sims 2 and sims 4, kind of an unpopular opinion at times. What I love about this game is the open world, the cars, and of course the color wheel. I don't really like how easily the game can stop working properly, resulting in you as the user to have to uninstall and reinstall the game, but beside that the game is perfect to me.
One of my favorite sims games (2 is a bit better) but 3 is probably the last sims game with a soul and love behind it, def check it out if you're thinking about it! (And play 2!!!.. 1 if adventurous,)
Click to open the game which opens the launcher. Press open game from there and the launcher closes, with something loading for a few seconds, and then....nothing. The game just doesn't open. I'm sure there are mods that can fix this, but from I looked around, they seem like too much of a headache to be worth it.
At bare minimum a game, especially one that costs money, should at least be able to be opened and played, this is unacceptable.
Do not buy this, it is a waste of money.
I love this game. It reminds me of the good old days!! I love putting my Sims into the pool then surrounding them with a fence, and slowly drowning them as they get more and more exasperated.
EA still charging full price for TS3 is pretty wild (but on brand for them). BUT the Sims 3 is still, in my opinion, WAY better than the Sims 4.
The best sims game in the franchise low-key; very iconic, very demure.
The Sims 3 represents a golden era in life simulation gaming that holds a special place in many players' hearts. The open-world design was revolutionary, allowing Sims to seamlessly travel throughout their neighborhood without loading screens - something that feels sorely missed in The Sims 4.
The depth of customization in The Sims 3 was remarkable, especially with the Create-a-Style tool that let players modify colors and patterns of virtually every object. This level of personalization made each home and Sim truly unique, creating more meaningful and personal gameplay experiences.
The Sims 3's gameplay mechanics offered richer storytelling possibilities through features like:
- Traits that genuinely affected Sim behavior
- More complex relationships and social interactions
- The ability to follow Sims to work
- Deeper hobby and skill systems
- More meaningful career progressions
While The Sims 4 excels in its Sim creation and emotional systems, it lacks the seamless open world and deep customization that made The Sims 3 so immersive. The nostalgia factor of watching your Sims drive around town, visit neighbors without loading screens, and discover random events throughout the neighborhood remains unmatched.
The expansion packs for The Sims 3 also felt more complete and substantial, adding significant gameplay elements rather than smaller features. Seasons, University Life, and Generations particularly stand out as transformative additions that enhanced the base game experience tremendously.
The Sims 3 continues to demonstrate how a life simulation game can be both ambitious and detailed, setting a standard that even modern iterations struggle to match. Its blend of freedom, depth, and creativity makes it a timeless classic that many players still return to today.
The Sims 3 is a delightful sandbox experience that lets your creativity shine. With a vast array of customization options, you can create unique characters and build dream homes. The open-world environment adds a new layer of exploration, making every neighborhood feel alive. The gameplay is engaging and offers endless possibilities, whether you’re focusing on careers, relationships, or just enjoying everyday life. It’s a charming and addictive experience that keeps you coming back for more!

I am a bit peeved. Personally, it's a good game but I recently got a new pc and the game refuses to launch properly. Like it literally won't go to where to play the screen. It just gets to the part you press play and it closes the game completely for me. It's inconvenient, especially with the fact I bought this game with a few dlcs.
my favorite sims game i have ever played and so much better than the sims 4
The game has a memory leak and crashes because it's only 32 bit. Otherwise it's addictive and fun. It's the only life simulator with Create-a-Style and Create-a-World. If only it was remade 64 bit without a memory leak, it would be perfect. I wouldn't buy this full price but I got the complete collection (minus store content) on a hefty Steam sale, though I haven't seen Sims 3 go on sale since.
first of all THE GAME DOESN'T WORK ON MY ASUS TUF
My childhood video game. I remember playing it for 7-8 hours a day and never getting bored. Funny, because it’s such a boring game. My favorite thing was making the Sims have sex, have kids, and then make the spouses cheat on each other. What a healthy childhood I had. Of course, I never had the original game. I’d go to the CD shop, buy a CD, and my dad would crack it and install the game for me. The game used to work on my Lenovo Ideapad, but now it won’t run on my Asus TUF. Steam, give me my $20 back. I'm a poor turk pls.
I've been an avid Sims player since Sims 2 when I was just 5 years old. I always come back to this game and love it every time. I bought all the packs with steam's deal within the past year and have been having the time of my life exploring everything.
This is the best life sim currently on the market.
The seamless open world makes the game feel truly alive. Having the option to go to work, stop by your friends house and hit the gym before heading home all without any cutscenes or loading screens is nothing short of incredible. The base game has so many options to explore, and the DLC adds even more. University, seasons, pets, clubs, you name it. While the DLC is ridiculously expensive (wait for it to be on sale when it's reasonably priced), it does add an incredible variety to an already well rounded experience.
Occasional performance issues aside, it's hard to find anything bad to say about Sims 3. It has thousands of hours of gameplay to offer, and for it's current price tag, it's honestly a steal for what you can get out of it.
I've been playing the sims 4 for YEARS,and let me tell you, aside from graphics, this game outdoes it by ten fold. You get five personality traits that actually affect game play, not just "evil sims are happy when evil" or "childish sims get the silly mood more often". It has a much more open world, so you don't go to a loading screen every time you want to go to a new lot, which was a massive issue i had with the sims 4. The character customization isn't terrible either, the sims 4 obviously has the most in depth and varied character customization, but if you aren't super particular about how your sims look, this game definitely has options. Overall, i like this game a lot just on game play alone, and would say its a good start for any newer simmers.
Very great game to play. I wish they could add the other expansion packs of Sims 3. I enjoy playing the game and the expansion packs I already bought. I have not played or experienced the other expansions that were released. I think Steam will not make a mistake to release the other expansions. Just to add more fun or experimenting in the game. I have never seen the Dragon Valley expansion. I have only seen the trailer of the expansion. I do not know if that is an online purchase within the game.
its fun to play and great for stress relief when I no longer want to be nice to people after a long day of customer service
The open worlds without lots of loading screens, unlike sims 4.more gameplays without needing to buy a lot of packs and how you could edit the worlds too
This is great! I enjoy the game much more than the sims 4. Get it!
Probably the best Sims experience currently available.
There is so much content and freedom in this game that it's actually insane.
Sure, there are many bugs and performance issues, but that can mostly be solved by installing a few essential mods and clearing your cache/save file from time to time.
The open world in this game is exactly why it feels so amazing and alive. It's so nice being able to spend time outside your home and seamlessly go to the gym, go out for a coffee, go to the movie theater, go horse riding, grocery shopping, take part in eating contests, local festivals, etc... The Sims 4 has some of that but it's plagued with a tedious loading system and lacks the aforementioned open world system. This system is the reason why it's so easy to juggle a large family in The Sims 3. There is also simply more content in this game and there are more things to do gameplay-wise. The Sims 3 is a great life simulator, whereas the Sims 4 just has a great character creator and is a great house building sim.
Sadly as we already know, there won't be a new Sims game any time soon, so for the time being, I recommend you skip The Sims 4, and just play this old but amazing masterpiece.
I can't recommend this game right now because it is broken for anyone with a 12th or 13th gen intel processor. Modders have fixed the issue, but it is inexcusable that EA will continue to sell this and the DLC without ensuring it will work out of the box.
lets just say i love the sims 3 so much that after 1000+ hours on the EA app I bought all the dlc on steam, its an addiction. you have been warned.. its 100% worth your time and money :)
Great version of The Sims, probably my favorite. Especially love the customization tools available for most articles of clothing, pieces of furniture, and building decor. Also, the fact that it has a more manageable amount of DLC means that actually having what feels like a full experience is way easier than Sims 4.
Sims 3 is my childhood, this is when the sims actually had life and excitment compared to the new, stale and bland sims 4
graphics are bad and thats what makes it awesome
sound game tbf spend too much time on it but modding it is funny as shi
You're probably coming here debating whether you'd rather play the Sims 3 over Sims 4. Is this game still relevant in 2024? I give an overwhelming yes. I bought this game back in 2009, when it originally released. I own all available DLC. Let me tell you what makes this the best entry in the series.
Releasing originally in 2009 and having an expansion release lifetime lasting all the way until late 2013, the Sims 3 was a massive breath of fresh air for gamers during its lifetime, and all of that magic is still captured perfectly in 2024. I cannot give a higher recommendation for a game I have played. I love this game and every bit of DLC available for it.
The Sims 3 introduces a lot of new mechanics into the game. For one, Lifetime Happiness Points, the Wish system, and Lifetime Wishes feed into a massive rewards system offering unique additional perks for your Sim. You can utilize the Wish system to grant Lifetime Happiness points to your Sim, enriching your experience over time by purchasing Lifetime Reward Perks, and this gives a rather unique way to influence the kind of Sim you can make. Perks range from enhancing work and home life, making certain tasks easier, granting new types of in-person and object interactions, or even eliminating specific Needs entirely. This Lifetime Happiness Rewards system alone makes this game worth playing.
I highly recommend any person coming into The Sims 3 to AT LEAST grab the Ambitions and Generations DLC Expansions. I cannot imagine playing Sims 3 without all of the self employment career paths from Ambitions, for sure. Don't like the 9-5 grind? Your Sim can stay at home and profit off of their novel royalties, or paint brilliant paintings and wow the town. Ambitions also adds other career paths for your sims to follow, such as Ghost Hunter, Firefighter, and Investigator.
Mood is a huge factor in keeping your Sims happy - a high enough mood automatically generates bonus Lifetime Happiness Points over time. You will learn ways to optimize the system. Keeping your Sims happy soon becomes just as routine as managing their Needs. Balancing a comfortable environment into this factors in a whole new way to generate those much-needed Happiness points for the next Reward Perk you aim for. Aim for that 8-hour maxed "Having a Blast" moodlet often and keep those Happiness Points pouring in!
After giving The Sims 4 a genuine and honest effort, both on PC and console, I was disappointed at the seemingly dumbed-down systems in 4 as opposed to the engaging ones in 3. After giving 4 the old college try, it felt so refreshing to go back to 3 and start all over again there. Please don't let this game's age influence your decision - I still pick it up, time and time again, and have an absolute blast with it. It is a classic that has stood the test of time in my regular library.
Yes, this game has microtransactions. No, you do not need to invest in them - the game ((especially with all Expansions and Stuff Packs)) has well more items and options than you will ever possibly make use of without spending any further money past DLC. I have owned this game since it released, and I have never spent a single cent on the in-game shop. Due to this, I do not factor in the addition of microtransactions into my review - but I felt it would be negligent of me not to mention the fact they exist within the game.
TL;DR I will put all of my available votes towards Sims 3 over Sims 4 every day. Unique and interesting systems help you build the Sim and home of your dreams while leaving your options open for developing your own challenges and goals to attain. Highly recommend both Ambitions and Generations DLC Expansions for the most complete experience. Am not ashamed to recommend all DLC should you enjoy the fuller experience. 10/10 game. Loved it since 2009, still playing in 2024.
The lack of controller support and the overabundance of DLC ($379 worth) killed my desire to play this game after having had a blast with it at a friend's house.
luv the sims great game i control my sims life better than my own LOL i reconmend for anyone who wants try a new life
It's a fun game. I personally enjoy building the houses. That's the main reason I play this game, honestly.
The Sims 3 is disappointing because it's just a game,
but also a relief because it's just a game.
:p
게임이라서 아쉽고, 게임이라서 다행일지도.
This thing came out.. in 2012, 13 something like that.. It's 20o25 now and still runs like burnt eggs. I just spent damn near an hour trying to JUST make on FUCKING guy.. I had to ditch my previous save that was doing great foir some retardedly stupid reason. I really onyt have words for this thing other then why is this stupid thing still being updated? they still charge 20 bucks for anything that resembles an addition loading times for it are abysmal as fuck. glitches, and crashes are all over the fucking olace..
If i had to rate this thing in 2024, Im gonna give it 2 thumbs down, and a fart. NO game should be this bad while still charging you for content like it just came out. It's really bad smelling trash that soulkd NOT take up any space on your hard drives to run.
rather mod this to work than play sims 4
The peak of the Sims franchise. I love setting my house on fire while attempting to make mac & cheese.
Overall Rating: 4.5/5 Stars
Pros:
Open-World Gameplay: The Sims 3 introduces a seamless open-world experience, allowing players to explore the neighborhood without loading screens. This freedom enhances immersion and encourages exploration of the various lots and locations.
Character Customization: The game offers extensive customization options for creating Sims. Players can adjust physical features, clothing, and personality traits, resulting in diverse and unique characters that reflect individual playstyles.
Dynamic Life Stages: The life simulation aspect is robust, with Sims progressing through various life stages, from childhood to old age. Each stage comes with unique interactions, aspirations, and opportunities, keeping gameplay fresh and engaging.
Rich Storytelling: The game encourages storytelling, allowing players to create complex narratives through their Sims’ relationships, careers, and experiences. The social dynamics and interactions add depth to the gameplay.
Expansion Packs: The Sims 3 has a variety of expansion packs that introduce new features, careers, and gameplay mechanics. These expansions add significant content, extending the game's longevity and replayability.
Cons:
Performance Issues: Depending on the player’s hardware, The Sims 3 can experience performance issues, particularly in larger neighborhoods or with numerous Sims. Frame rate drops and lag can detract from the overall experience.
AI Limitations: While the game features a lively world, some AI behaviors can feel repetitive or unrealistic. Sims may occasionally behave in ways that break immersion, such as ignoring logical actions or getting stuck.
Limited Control Over Relationships: While the game offers various interactions, the relationship mechanics can feel somewhat limited. Players might find it challenging to influence relationships as intricately as they would like.
Learning Curve: New players might experience a steep learning curve due to the extensive features and systems. It can take time to fully understand all the mechanics and options available.
Recommendation: I highly recommend The Sims™ 3 to fans of life simulation games and those who enjoy creative gameplay. Its open-world design, extensive customization options, and dynamic life stages offer a compelling and immersive experience. Despite some performance issues and AI limitations, the game remains a classic in the simulation genre. If you enjoy storytelling, character building, and managing the lives of your Sims, The Sims 3 is a must-play title that provides endless hours of entertainment.
Its old with lots of problem as support had stopped after the release of the sims 4. But compared to sims 4, sims 3 base game seems more of a complete game.
9 hours in, haven't played since I was like 7, even with no dlc can confirm it's more in depth than sims 4 with all dlc
Great game! This game came out over 10 years ago and I am still playing it. This game never gets boring for me and I could play this game for hours. This game has a lot of replay value.
Game is amazing, a little stressful when you're used to playing sims 4 as there is much more to do and a lot more happening, very enjoyable though. Only problem is with steam itself, every time I leave the game I have to manually click "stop" myself, it then says "stopping" indefinitely, I have to shut down my computer so that I am able to click play again. When I try to start up my game, the same sort of problem arises and the game often doesn't show up, meaning I have to shut my computer down and try again. First time this has ever happened, I heard that this has happened to some other people too, hopefully it gets fixed.
i have loved sims 3 since a child. it was one of the first official sims editions i got to play. obsessed obviously. but that goes with all the sims games. yet sims 3 has a lot for things that cant be done in sims 4 which i miss along with the lore of bella goth ughhh how could you not love the sims!!!
have not played in years, been playing sims 4. got tired of sims 4 for awhile and now back to sims 3 for a time. love the open world and cars. good game play. just had to work out a few bugs that came with a newer computer.
I have played Sims 3 on PS3 since I was a kid, and yet when I spent nearly 20 euros on this, it did not open at all, only the launcher, and then it said I had finished playing it. I have tried everything to even get into the actual game, but nothing!
i feel as a veteran sims player, this is the strongest game within the franchise. having played it on the xbox 360 till now, despite the setup that's needed to make it work on modern devices it still holds stronger than the sims 4. the storytelling possibilities, open world simulation, in-depth traits that actually impact your gameplay and, in my opinion, charming oldschool graphics genuinely create a game that you can pour your time into.
i have over 800 hours in the sims 4 yet i still find myself coming back to this game regularly. it's a completely different experience, one that feels more fufilling and immersive than most other life sims. if you're somebody who never played the sims 3, yet only played the sims 4, you'll be in for a hell of a surprise and feel way more disappointed with that the sims 4 became.
A solid game, but I cannot recommend it. It has so many DLC, you'll need to mortgage your house to play the full game.
Then again, at least it's better about DLC than the Sims 4.
this game raised me, incredible, impeccable, terrific, outstanding, superb, and all the other good words. love u forever <3
Never link your sims 3 game from Steam to the EA app, I made that mistake and I have not been able to play or access my Sims 3 game for about 6 months now. I have to wait until unlink expires which is November 10th. it sucks not being able to play a game you enjoy.
constant crashes. ea app has never been working when i play any ea game. more microtransactions than any other developer ive ever dealt with.
