Creaks is an amazing hand-drawn puzzle-platformer that immerses players in a surreal and mysterious world. The game’s art style is nothing short of stunning, with every scene crafted like a living illustration. Its rich visuals create an atmosphere that’s both eerie and enchanting, inviting you to explore every corner of its intricately designed environments.
What truly sets Creaks apart is its ability to tell a story without a single word and its evolutive musical ambiance. Through subtle environmental cues and evocative animations, the game keeps you curious and invested, encouraging you to uncover its secrets at your own pace while rewarding attention to detail.
The puzzles are striking a perfect balance between challenge and accessibility. They’re intuitive yet inventive, seamlessly blending into the game’s world and mechanics. Whether you’re drawn to the art, the mystery, or the satisfaction of solving clever puzzles, Creaks delivers a memorable and atmospheric experience that stays with you long after you’ve finished.
Faultless, and masterfully crafted from start to finish – Creaks is now one of my all-time favourite games.
The story was really cute. The art style was stunning. The puzzles were intuitive and immensely satisfying to solve, and I LOVED the way the music kept building as I gradually pieced together the solution for each level. Seriously, I don't have enough good things to say about this game – just play it. You'll love it.
Good puzzles and interesting visuals. Wood recommend.
Very cute game, clever riddles, exciting scenes, 10/10 for creativity.
I promised myself that I wouldn't give up on games before reaching 2 hrs gameplay so I played for nearly two hours but I don't think I will ever continue.
If you've never played an Amanita game before and you just like logic puzzles - you will probably enjoy it. If you are spoiled by such masterpieces as Machinarium, you might be disappointed.
I really enjoyed the minigames in paintings but it's like 1% of the game. The soundtrack and graphics are great. But they get boring after a while and also the gameplay is lacking in my opinion. Quite repetitive, there is basically no interaction with the world. Mixed feelings. Sadly, I don't feel I can really recommend this game.
fun puzzles!!
Fantastic game!!! Incredibly beautiful, puzzles are entertaining and well thought through. One of the best games I've played in a long time! If you enjoy puzzle games, indie games and aren't afraid of using your brain to solve interesting puzzles buy this game!
Amazing art style.
beautiful game. the quaint visual style is what originally drew me in and did not disappoint. sound and music are interestingly original and fit the mood, storyline is nothing to brag about but still so sweet, and the puzzles are perfectly balanced in difficulty. finished in 6-7 hours with a little bit of help. the secret rooms were such a joy to find and the interactive paintings hereby receive my 10/10 seal of approval. the coat hangers were just such silly little guys omg
only negative feedback i can think of is the puzzles can get repetitive (but they bring new characters as game is progressed so there is variety) and the game is not replayable. i bought this on sale and creaks was definitely worth the money!
Artful puzzle romp through an eldritch cabinet of curiosities. a steal at any price, not too short and leaves you wishing it went on longer.
Deserves a few sequels - Croaks might be a good one.
I am yet to play a bad Amanita Design's game.
Visually appealing, nice music (though I often prefered to play with sound off as it helps me think better), but most of all, the puzzles — they are super fun to solve. I felt absolutely miserable a couple of times when I couldn't find the solution, but apart from that, I loved every room and painting. The only problem is that the levels with the goats are all quite easy. I was expecting something more challenging since it was almost the end of the game.
I absolutely loved this game. The puzzles are very fun. The transitions between gameplay and cut-scenes are very smooth. Overall this game is very immersive, the artstyle is enchanting. I want everyone I know to play this game.
I got this game on sale on a whim and to my surprise, i really enjoyed it thoroughly! Its a puzzle base game and it really got me using my brain juice to solve the levels. Art is beautiful and i found this game very therapeutic tbh. I wish there were more levels!
I was nervous about this one but pleasantly surprised. The puzzles play fair, there's a good amount of variety and length, and you can't say know to that charming art style. Amanita proves here that it can tackle different genres with the same attention to detail and creativity.
Beautifully crafted puzzle game.
As always, 10/10 music, 10/10 design. It was a great adventure puzzle game and I recommend to all machinarium players and everyone else!
i really like this game .. the art is fantastic
Fun puzzle game, and i enjoyed the story.
One of the Best puzzle game.
I love playing Machinarium when I was a kid, and finding out that there's this game made by the same developer made me excited! I actually enjoyed this game. The graphics were great as well. It's just chill and finding the paintings was really a fun side quest. I kinda expected more, but other than that, it was great. I am looking forward to more puzzle games in the future :))
Relaxing, smart and intuitive puzzle game full of Amanita's signature charm. Had a genuine smile on my face throughout and the music is absolutely amazing as always. Just an atmospheric and gorgeous experience all around, as per usual for Amanita.
Really nice puzzle game. Sweet story, fun puzzles and a great short game. Difficulty scales very well and the puzzles were engaging throughout.
If you feel you are not good at puzzles but still want to try a puzzle game this game is for you. The puzzles were challenging yet never felt cheap, the challenge is just right for people who are bad at puzzles. The artstyle is cool. The story is really strange but goes hard, doesn't have a spectacular ending or final boss fight but I didn't feel it needed either of those. An awesome journey, 8/10 wish it was longer and had more enemies.
It’s a really good 2D spacial puzzler where your guy has to big brain his way through enemy-infested puzzle screens, but unlike, for example, in Timelie, where you mostly ever avoided enemies, and unlike in Lara Croft GO, where you mostly ever killed them, here your chief goal will be to trick them into stepping into the light. Unlike in both of those, here stages are multi-floor 2D, rather than 3D chessboards.
The game was to be called Pareidolia originally, and uses this concept extensively. It means that ordinary objects look like monsters in some circumstances. In this game they indeed become monsters, until lights are back on. To us, it means traversing through several zones full of puzzles as the game’s adding more monsters to the roster, each with their own move pattern you have to learn to work around.
You will be avoiding them sometimes, sure, but most of the time making them trigger path openings instead, making them block each other, lastly turning them back into inanimate objects or, more often, pitting them against themselves. There’s some degree of timing to a number of puzzles, but not to the point of needing twitch reflexes. Even so, be warned – it’s not turn-based.
There’s around 50 individual puzzles in this game, all of them bite-sized, which makes it so addicting to play even for a dozen minutes at a time. It’s probably even more demoralizing on a portable device. The game sorely lacks some satisfying final puzzle, though. It has a final walking sequence instead. However much cute, it’s just not the same.
The game is cute, yes. It’s the one modern Amanita game to resemble Machinarium the most, which was much to my liking. The game’s really good soundtrack also adds to the experience, further hyping up as a reward for progressing through any puzzle – giving you that one last nudge, telling you that you’re on the right track.
As it’s probably around 6-8h long and doesn’t seem replayable in the slightest, consider buying it on sale.
Creaks is an awesome puzzle game!
One of the best puzzle adventure games out there to be honest, but that's not surprising coming from THE KING OF ALL INDIE GAMES = AMANITA DESIGN. Really recommend this game, its really atmospheric, and actually has a decent story! Took me about 7.6 to beat (but still taking in all the beauty that this game has to offer. Well?? buy it already!!!!! This is a indie lover's DREAM!
Excellent platform puzzler with a unique, creepy aesthetic. Very surreal at times. I took about 7 hours to finish the story and found the puzzles to be challenging enough to be fun.
Incredible world-building and such amazing, beautiful art. I was continuously impressed by the love and care that went not just into the design of every oh-so detailed room and hallway, but especially into even the collectible oil paintings hidden throughout the game - many of which are singularly unique mini games as well.
The puzzles are the perfect level of challenging - take a couple minutes to sit back and think through the puzzle backwards kind of challenging. This eccentric family of humanoid birds with their long lineage of interesting ancestors (among whom include a water divining musician, a scientist training fish to jump, and a naturalist who carries a bookshelf on his back) is not something I knew I needed.
Creaks is the most charming game I have played all year.
.
I had hopes that this beautifully hand-drawn game would eclipse my distaste for 2D, puzzles, and platformers, that a curious story told without words would activate my heart as has happened before (INSIDE; FAR), but no such thing occurred. I cannot suggest this to gamers like me who require a bit more intensity and immersion to feel full, but if you find yourself satisfied by empty problem-solving, then this may be for you.
Fun game with a variety of challenging puzzles. I would have liked more, but well worth it.
Another beautiful game from Amanita Design. I liked the puzzles in this one although I think they could have switched between "archetypes" a little bit quicker. The last one or two puzzles in each archetype got really tedious and overly specific, like the doppelganger enemies, the puzzles involving them often require you to stand on exactly one specific tile with mathematic precision to finish them. It can get a bit annoying after a while.
It's still a fun game to play, and I'd recommend it to fans of Amanita Design. If you aren't a huge puzzle game fan, and neither an Amanita Design fan, I'd say simply play their other games such as Botanicula. I think they're better overall.
Love the game. Puzzles are not too difficult and not too easy to solve.
Great puzzles, unique art style and nice music. Overall great game by Amanita Design.
Great game, puzzle solving and adventure, highly recommend
i think amanita can do no wrong. creaks is the spookiest of their offerings. i had no idea what to expect and enjoyed the puzzle mechanics. the illustration and soundtrack have exquisite detail and suck you into the world from minute one.
I love it this game. The hand-drawn style is charming, and a current trend I am really into. It has the puzzle style of Limbo, the scribbly, sketched art style and color palette of Don't Starve, and quirkiness of Roald Dahl's humor and artwork wrapped up into one solid puzzle game. The audio is crisp, pronounced, and enhances the visuals beautifully...as it should with the name "Creaks." I love the timidness of the main character, the comedic elements of furniture monsters, and the little gems like interactive, musical art pieces on the walls of the mysterious, dilapidated, crumbling structure the character is trapped in. I think it's a very unique take on this style of game. The puzzles are somehow simple and challenging at the same time, which is just what I needed when looking for a casual but thoughtful puzzle game. I'd pay much more than $4.99 for it (though I won't complain about a good sale on games.) I'm absolutely going to check out other games by Amanita Design. Bravo!
Edit: How did I forget to mention the music? The music is fantastic. Very quirky and fun instrumentation.
Another Amanita Design banger
Feel like Alice in Wonderland but Bird
Love it
eastern european closet simulator
Another quality Amanita puzzle adventure
I wanna preface with that if you like this game you might like Iconoclasts too.
Anyway, this game was so good. I really didn't think I'd like it, it didn't seem like my thing. But then I started the game and it just got better and better and better and better and fack that one puzzle and better and better! It's been a long time since a game has made me feel like I was on an adventure. And what an adventure it was! One time, I actually felt like slamming my desk because of how great it was (like 5-6 hours in). Ugh, I wish there was more of this kind of stuff.
Thank you Amanita Design, you guys are the best <3 I can't wait for Phonopolis to come out
A lot of different puzzles in a really beautiful game
Way too many ladders and robo doggies. Terrible optimization as well. Liked visuals and audio though
The art style of this is just... *chef's kiss*. So, so pretty. Reminiscent of Edward Gorey. Worth playing for the art alone, but also some challenging puzzles that really stumped me at times.
great game
Very nice art, cute story, and a real brain teaser.
great art, fun enough!
Great art and atmosphere. Get real pleasure of a game. Way to short.
