One of best games by my opinion. Awesome artstyle, character designs, my beloved soundtrack and still interesting gameplay.
Not just a game, but a piece of art!
There's so much heart and soul put into this game, and the art style is very cool and unique.
I also adore the atmosphere and character designs, they're so memorable.
The puzzles are quite tricky and intricate, which is great if you want to play something with puzzles that are well-thought out and not "dumbed down."
A short, but sweet experience that warms your heart.
A brilliant and beautifully drawn puzzle game with an excellent soundtrack. Some of the puzzles I found a bit demanding mainly because it wasn't obvious to me what the point of the puzzle was. (Youtube walkthroughs are your friend!) High;y recommended.
Collecting childhood games on steam. Definitely love and recommend this one.
I’ve known about Machinarium since I was a kid(10 years) — I was always fascinated by its art and world, but the puzzles were too hard for me back then. Now, years later, I finally came back to it and finished it. And honestly, it was worth the wait. The hand-drawn visuals are still beautiful, the music is atmospheric, and the puzzles feel so satisfying to solve. It’s a nostalgic, charming experience that holds up incredibly well.

A great point-and-click with unique art and atmosphere, plus a simple but heartfelt story. Perfect if you're tired of AAA games and just want to relax. Just a heads-up, some of the puzzles can be pretty tricky, even if you’ve played it before.
Absolutely gorgeous game. Everything that was put into it was just sublime. The art style, puzzles, story, music, there wasn't a single thing I didn't like. I definitely got super stuck at some parts but that's how you know it's a wonderful puzzle game. (either that, or I'm just not too bright lol) but I highly recommend this beautiful game!!!
I liked the art work and style of game. Relaxing and felt like an escape room.
I wish it had a little more guidance at times as I ran around for an hour trying to understand what I needed to complete. I guess that is part of the game but it goes from only one or two areas to four quickly.
Game is short, only took me 6 hours to complete. If I didn't waste 1 hour running between areas it would have been 5. I like the idea. Wish it was longer.
Dystopian game with beautiful visuals. I used to play this with my father on the playstation 3 many years ago, so much nostalgia from this game.
idk if iam dumb or those puzzles are harvard level.
overall ,this game has a very immersive art direction with a classic story goal( saving you wife or gf as usual ),
well, this game is old enough, but its still out there standing in the point and click genre,i recommend.
This game's art style is very beautiful and full with passion. Good puzzle game
谜题很有趣,有一定难度又不至于做不出来!
As soon as I finished the game, I had to play it again w/o any in-game guides or hints cause it was that much fun:)
Highly recommend for those who like collecting clues throughout the game to use later, playing mini-games within games, giggling at cute little robots, or solving puzzles to relax!
Very beautiful game.
I got stuck a few times but that happens with this game.
7/10
Not many games out there that I would describe as flawless, but I loved everything about this. Beautiful artwork scene for scene. A good balance of varied puzzles, ranging from simple to really quite sneaky and clever. Just enough plot. Quirky wonderful music. WAY more game length then I was expecting going in to the thing. What a gem.
Pure entertainment and puzzle solving chaos during the full almost 5 hours it took me to complete it! I was completely involved with the story and cute characters. If I would get stuck I kept trying until I needed help, but the game has it covered and you wont need to google anything ^^ 10/10
cool game great art and music. A nice challenge
9/10
Another game, another masterpiece.
I loved every aspect of this game! It was pretty challenging at times, but with a bit of help from walkthroughs, I managed to complete it. :D
People still playing this game in 2025 warms my heart. From the music, atmosphere, and artistic direction, and the (relatively) well designed puzzles....you get quickly integrated into this world. There are some head-scratchers in this game, so don't feel too bad if you get stumped, but if you saw the game and thought "this looks neat", you won't be disappointed, and it's worth playing. If you're an older sort, and want another take on a game like "Oddworld: Abe's Odyssey", this did scratch that itch too.
A cute puzzle game that doesn't last too long.
1 game hay khác của Amanita
This is a beautiful game about an adorable robot solving puzzles and the like in order to save the day
I highly recommend it, even if you need help, it has a secret hint function but fortunately, the puzzles aren't overtly complex
Did I mention the art is beautiful? Because it is
GRATE ANIMATION , SOUNDS , ART AND PUZZLE. BETTER THAN GTA 6
great soundtrack and graphics, but incredibly challenging puzzles, spent hours on them and still needed walkthrough. good game overall. i would say worth the price if you buy it on a sale.
This game can be very satisfying when you solve the problems, but some of the in-game games can be extremely difficult for those of us who don't have the dexterity in our fingers anymore.
# Machinarium: A Masterpiece of Mechanical Imagination
Machinarium stands as one of the most distinctive and charming point-and-click adventure games ever created. Developed by Amanita Design, this beautiful indie title transports players to a world of rusted metal, whirring gears, and endearing robot characters brought to life through gorgeous hand-drawn art.
The game follows Josef, a small robot who's been unfairly exiled from his home city. Your journey takes you through a meticulously crafted world of mechanical landscapes as you solve puzzles, overcome obstacles, and ultimately save your robot girlfriend and the city from the nefarious Black Cap Brotherhood.
## Visuals That Speak Volumes
What immediately strikes you about Machinarium is its stunning art direction. Each screen is a hand-drawn work of art filled with intricate details that bring this mechanical world to life. From the dilapidated outskirts to the bustling center of the city, every environment feels alive with personality. The animation, while minimal, conveys surprising emotion through simple gestures and movements.
## Puzzles with Purpose
The gameplay centers around environmental puzzles that range from clever to genuinely challenging. What makes Machinarium's puzzle design special is how organically they're integrated into the world. You're not just solving puzzles for the sake of it—you're helping Josef navigate a world that wasn't built for him, using his extending body and mechanical abilities in creative ways.
The game includes a progressive hint system that provides sketched clues rather than direct solutions, allowing players to remain engaged with puzzles even when stuck.
## A Story Without Words
Perhaps most remarkably, Machinarium tells its story without a single word of dialogue. Characters communicate through animated thought bubbles, gestures, and expressions, creating a universally accessible narrative that transcends language barriers. This minimalist approach to storytelling forces the game to rely on visual storytelling, which it accomplishes brilliantly.
## Soundtrack That Resonates
Tomáš Dvořák's (aka Floex) soundtrack deserves special mention, blending electronic beats with jazz elements to create a soundscape that perfectly complements the game's unique aesthetic. The music shifts seamlessly between playful, melancholic, and mysterious, enhancing the emotional impact of Josef's journey.
## Minor Criticisms
The game isn't without flaws. Some puzzles can be obtuse, requiring pixel-hunting or leaps of logic that may frustrate less patient players. The game's brevity—roughly 5-6 hours—leaves you wanting more of this captivating world. Additionally, some players might find the lack of explicit direction occasionally disorienting.
## Final Verdict
Machinarium is a true artistic achievement that demonstrates how games can tell compelling stories through visual design, music, and intuitive gameplay rather than relying on dialogue or text. Years after its release, it remains a testament to the creative possibilities of the adventure game genre and stands as one of the most distinctive indie titles ever created.
For anyone who appreciates artistic games, clever puzzles, or simply wants to experience something uniquely charming, Machinarium is an essential experience that will leave a lasting impression.
**Rating: 9/10**
By far, the best puzzle game i have ever played, i loved it 10 years ago as a child, and i love it now. The aesthetic is unmatched, i have yet to find anything that even resembles this melancholic, post apo world that is so catching and beautiful for some reason
When I was very little, my dad had come across this game. He bought the game, off the original page of Amanita Design. I remember those late nights, when my dad would play the game. And the music would be playing, i'd watch him also play it as well.
Now I am going to finish the game, and I love the game due to nostalgia. Also the environments, and art are so pretty. Even the music hits different than any other game.
Delightful animation and storyline. Great for old fashioned point and click fans like me.
Machinarium is a beautifully crafted point-and-click adventure that combines a unique art style with clever puzzles and an emotionally engaging story. Set in a world populated by robots, the game follows a small robot named Josef as he attempts to rescue his kidnapped companion and save the city. The hand-drawn, steampunk-inspired environments are visually stunning, creating a rich and immersive world full of detail. The puzzles are well-designed, often requiring creative solutions and keen observation, though some can be quite challenging. The lack of dialogue is replaced by expressive animations and a captivating soundtrack, which adds emotional depth to the narrative. The game’s pacing is well-balanced, allowing for a satisfying mix of puzzle-solving and exploration. Machinarium excels in its ability to tell a heartfelt story without the use of words, and its atmospheric world and intriguing puzzles make it a standout in the genre. It’s a must-play for fans of adventure games and those looking for an immersive, thoughtful experience.
Oh my God! My brain just got fried after playing this game! Like the graphics and the challenge! YES
Really well done Point and Click adventure. The art-style, music, and cute little bots make a fantastic story to play through. Highly recommend experiencing this game!
great
This game is attractive for many reasons. It has a unique art, level design, and music that perfectly matches the occasion.
If you are idle while thinking of ways to get the puzzle solved, you may see some of the robot's cute memories about him and his friend Berta. It sort of creates an emotional bond with the character. The world here actually feels alive, even if these robots are doing simple things.
The game is quite short, but I enjoyed it a lot.

Windows 10
The Steam version of this completely fails to function using XBox One controller. I tried all the fixes I could find on the internet. None worked. Creaks works fine as do all other games using my controller. I would love to try it, but I am a 68 year old disabled Veteran, and don't have the patience to try. I am losing a lot of game time on Creaks by refunding my bundle purchase. Stay away if you have the XBox One controller.
best 2d game ever!!!
good music
good lore
good looking animations
Machinarium is a game I remember from my childhood — I still recall the buzz when it first came out. Recently, I decided to revisit it and bought it again on Steam, and honestly, I’m so glad I did.
The art style is absolutely iconic. It’s one of the most beautifully hand-drawn games I’ve ever seen, and even after all these years, the visuals still hold up as something truly special. The animations are smooth and charming, giving real personality to the characters despite the lack of dialogue.
The story is intriguing, told purely through visuals and symbols, which makes the experience feel even more artistic. And the world? It’s unique and atmospheric, filled with strange, rusty charm and clever puzzles that feel perfectly placed in this robotic universe.
Machinarium is one of those rare games that stays with you — both because of its beauty and its creativity.
Great game! Great plot and great idea. The game is very well made considering the year it was released.
The game is great. Unique atmosphere. Unforgettable music. But some puzzles are a brain fryer.
The game is flawed but amazing, the puzzles are fun to solve and it feels extremely satisfying once you solve them. The game looks gorgeous and the artstyle fits into the world nicely. The music is beatiful and accompanies the world beatifully, and also the story is nice and simple. The game is really imersive. However, the game isn't perfect. Starting off with the least horrible feature... the guide. Machinarium includes a guide wich ruins the fun of solving puzzles, while it isn't for free, it still exists, and it sucks. My worst issue with the game is the lack of replayabilty, after you beat it once, the novelty wears off. The achievements might as well won't exist, because they are pointless, the game has a linear structure even if you were to beat all the achievments, wich removes the replayebality.
Got this and all the Somorost on sale. Think this one is the most fun of all four. The design is really top notch and lot of fun to play. Would certainly get a sequel, if see it. Great causal game to play.
This is not my normal type of game but I am happy I bought. The puzzles are well, puzzling and a couple of times I had to look at the walk through for a hint, but I really enjoyed it. The graphic style is lovely and the music is very good.
I finished it and kinda likes it, but after much thought I decided to put a negative review due to:
- last puzzle is the worst I've ever seen (it requires unique action with very obfuscated solution by "noisy background")
- 5-in-a-row game is waaay to hard
- all of pixel-hunting games (this included) suffer from non-intuitive solutions which require you to click in specific place in the specific order which you either are lucky to find yourself or will be pissed after reading walkthrough (but to be fair, for me there were only few places like that in this game)
- very short
From all the problems, last puzzle was the main reason I decided to put a negative review. If not for that one, it would most probably be either a good (somewhat mixed) review, or no review at all.
Other than that it's great:
- music is atmosperic
- art is unique
- voicing and character's "no" are adorable
Finally bought and replayed this game — I still love it just as much as I did when I first played it in 2010.
Very cool and atmospheric game. Amazing soundtrack!
Got this game back when I was a kid, it was a bit too tricky for my feeble mind so my memories of it were more about frustration then anything. Revisiting it over 10 years later, the devs still create compatibility patches, with a surprising directx12 patch recently allowing me to run it using my much larger more powerful mind.
The music and cartoony design (reminiscent of old CN stuff like Chowder and Flapjack) gives this game a charming and nostalgic feel - I'm absolutely obssessed and drawn into the beauty of this world. The puzzles are about discovery and patience, there's some backtracking and slow moments that at first frustrated me but eventually grew on me and are key part in the games atmosphere.
It's relatively short and sweet but has great charm, and I love that the developers never abondoned it. However, I wish in all these recent years we had some more games in this whimiscal, dilapidated artstyle. Who knows...
Beautiful short game!
Great for all ages even if you want to play with your young ones! (they might need help with a few puzzles lol)
The artwork, music, vibe; everything was fantastic!
Machinarium is a breathtaking gem in the world of indie gaming that truly stands out for its unique art style, engaging puzzles, and heartwarming story. From the moment you enter the beautifully crafted world of robots, you are immersed in a visually stunning environment filled with intricate details and charming animations.
The hand-drawn graphics are nothing short of spectacular, creating a whimsical yet melancholic atmosphere that perfectly complements the narrative. Each scene is a work of art, inviting players to explore every nook and cranny. The soundtrack beautifully enhances the experience, adding an emotional depth that resonates throughout the game.
The puzzles are cleverly designed, offering a satisfying challenge without being overly frustrating. They encourage creative thinking and exploration, making each solved puzzle feel like a rewarding achievement. The game’s mechanics are intuitive, allowing players to easily grasp the gameplay while still providing enough complexity to keep them engaged.
What truly sets apart is its storytelling. Without relying on dialogue, the game conveys a touching narrative about friendship, resilience, and the quest for belonging. The main character, a little robot named Josef, captures players' hearts as he navigates through a world filled with obstacles and adversaries.
Overall, Machinarium is a masterpiece that combines stunning visuals, clever puzzles, and a heartfelt story into an unforgettable gaming experience. It’s a must-play for anyone who appreciates artistry in games and seeks an adventure that lingers long after the credits roll. Highly recommended!
OMG! I absolutely loved this game. The story, the music, the art, it was all such an experience. I completed this game and I usually have issues completing things! I love it! : )
this will forever be my favorite game, it brings me so much nostalgia, i've played this game back when i was a kid and it still is the best game ever<3
