One of my favorite games of all time. For a game made in 2009, the art and design of the game is gorgeous. I cannot imagine Amanita design without this really unique and sketch-like vibe to each area of the games they make. Wouldn't trade this game for any other; absolutely amazing.
I love funny robot game
Such a pretty game, cute story line and good puzzles! Love the band the music they played was awesome i chilled alot of minutes seeing my little bot jamming to the band. the sounds scapes in general are amazing.
I absolutely adore the artstyle from Amanita Design. Machinarium looks pretty detailed and very atmospheric. The puzzles were a little difficult for a dunce like me but I did manage to finish the game thanks to the guide manuel (I don't know what the book for the solutions is called). The best part for me were the variety of puzzles and minigames. My personal favourite is the one were you need to get five screws in a row. The story is pretty straightforward and doesn't have much depth to it. Overall a good adventure puzzle game.
This game is actually great and I recommend it, but this steam version is not in an acceptable state. Performance is really bad unless you lower your refresh rate and disable Vsync, and some puzzles are actually unbeatable unless you play in windowed mode. If you're fine with that, definitely recommended, but I'm quite shocked that the game is in the state that it is.
Incredible little game. Art is beautiful and the puzzles strike a perfect balance between difficult but not obtuse.
The only bit I didn’t enjoy was the 2D maze where you shoot enemies. That bit was very boring, but it only lasts 5 minutes.
Great adventure game with fun puzzles and lovely art style. Sadly the creators kind of lost it after this one.
One of the best puzzle games with a great atmosphere.
The Glasshouse With Butterfly is top 5 video game soundtracks of all time idc.
I just had to rebuy this for the nostalgia, still the best puzzle game ever made
⭐ 8/10 - A Handcrafted Masterpiece
Machinarium is an absolute gem of a point-and-click adventure! From its beautifully hand-drawn art style to its atmospheric soundtrack, every moment feels like stepping into a living, breathing world full of charm and mystery.
The story follows a little robot named Josef on a quest to save his kidnapped girlfriend and thwart the plans of a gang of troublemaking bots. The puzzles are brilliantly designed—challenging yet fair—and they make you feel genuinely clever when you solve them. There's no dialogue, yet the game tells its story masterfully through expressive animations and visual storytelling.
The soundtrack by Tomáš Dvořák (Floex) is a work of art on its own, setting the perfect mood for this melancholic yet heartwarming adventure.
If you love indie games, point-and-click adventures, or just beautifully crafted experiences, Machinarium is a must-play. It’s an unforgettable journey that will stay with you long after the credits roll.
✅ Pros:
✔ Stunning hand-drawn visuals
✔ Clever and rewarding puzzles
✔ Immersive, atmospheric soundtrack
✔ No dialogue, yet an engaging story
✔ Packed with charm and personality
🚫 Cons:
❌ None, unless you don’t like puzzles!
Final Verdict: A must-play for adventure game lovers! 🎶🤖💛
great game, immaculate programming and visuals, if you think you've tried everything to solve a section, you haven't... duh
Really fun and tricky game! Love the lore of the main character. Recommend on getting it!
An endearing land of characterful robots.
Its just great in all aspects, picture is beautiful, music is definitely going into playlist, most importantly, puzzles are rather hard, but not outright illogical, personally only had to look up the guides a couple of times. So, yeah, all fellow enjoyers of point and click should have this piece of classic(chirst, 16 years have passed) in their collection.
Lovely art and music. Good and challenging puzzles. The world has a rich atmosphere that draws you in.
this game is so iconic and the art and music are really great and i wish this weren't true but ultimately i had a really difficult time with this! the tic tac toe puzzle made me quit for a month i'm not joking. and i'm not a fan of how primitive looking the in-game explanations were sorry. having to do the minigame everytime was hard enough and then to not even understand the answers was too much for me ⚰️ i think the rougher art style used in the guidebook and speech bubbles + flashbacks kind of worked against the aesthetic of the game and made it look unfinished sometimes (i'm being nitpicky it wasn't used often). i also found it hard to engage with the story as the main character would experience flashbacks only as a side effect of being idle for too long. so i feel like the narrative and relationships could have been incorporated into the context of the main game more. i didn't even know bro's name was josef or that the robot in the tower was supposed to be the mayor. some of the interactivity was also frustrating such as having to press the button to enter the elevator rather than the much larger doors which is what felt intuitive to me, and a lot more examples which i won't list. my frustration is making this game sound worse than it is btw, there are good qualities but i'm not in the mood to write about them... this just didn't leave an impact on me like the samorost games did. that said it is definitely worth playing for anyone interested in point and click adventure games and i'd still recommend it, assuming most people have more patience than me and are smarter at puzzles 😭
nice game, ban the tic-tac-toe guy pls
music is the best ❤️🔥
Good puzzle game, like the art style
Beautiful game! Fantastic imagery, nice slow pace, incredible atmosphere. For the most part, the puzzles are great and on a good level.
I like the cartoonish vibes of the artstyle; the story was sweet and all the puzzles were very nice to solve (and challenging); I like that not every puzzle was marked as such, and that we needed to pay attention and interact with the environnement to progress in the story :) the minigames (arcade, debugging the brain) were also enjoyable!
For me as the Amanita game enjoyer, this game was hard, but the artstyle was so good, 10/10
The game is alright, the atmosphere is great and the music is good, the characters are compelling.
That being said, the game was many issues:
-It lags like hell but that isn't a huge problem in this type of game.
-There are a few game ending bugs at different late stage section.
-Half the puzzles are very unintuitive and the artstyle makes is very inconsistent with what you can and can't interact with.
-The animations are suuuuuper long and the lag just makes them longer.
Overall, some puzzles felt great and the story was charming but 80% of the playtime was just pure tedium.
When I was younger, I didn’t know anything about game piracy and just bought cracked discs from copying shops. Back then, I simply enjoyed exploring the robot world in Machinarium and solving those interesting puzzles. After about a decade, playing it again brought back strong feelings of nostalgia.
100/10
15 years later, i finally decided to get this game on my new account, never finished it the true way (not skipping) really fun, i recommend this game especially for people that played it when they were younger and never finished it. Its more the nostalgia especially with every other game ive seen come great.
Cute little game about a robot trying to do what's right.
Some puzzles can be hard, but they include a walk-through in-game, which is quite nice.
The art is incredible.
Played this when I was a kid. Its still an amazing game. One you shouldn't skip and a classic indie game.
This game was simply AWESOME ! I loved the atmosphere surrounding the gameplay and especially the graphics which are simply magnificent, I am so happy to have been able to play one of my childhood games again !
Machinarium is such a simple game, yet I really like the art style. It brings back childhood memories as this was my first point and click adventure game. I would rate the puzzle difficulty as medium, but once solved the puzzles are very much memorable, making Machinarium as a one of those game you can only enjoy once in a lifetime.
i simply love point-and-click. great job for the whole game from graphics to puzzles to sound!!
Insanely well made, cute, classic point and click puzzle game. The soundtrack is 100% worth it too. Seriously, a must play for any fan of the genre.
Delightful point and click adventure that doesn't overstay it's welcome but easily gave me 15 hours of gameplay.
Even with the mechanical gray color scheme it is still a vibrant landscape as machines imitate the foibles of humans and a narrative is gradually revealed through flashbacks.
The gameplay involves both environmental puzzles and more isolatable retro puzzles usually based on something familiar but always with a great twist on it.
Cute but with an underlying austerity, I found this challenging enough but never so much I was beating my head against the wall.
short but sweet point n click experience... the atmosphere is impeccable with the hand-drawn art, and floex's music
Such an amazing game. I had played it in my childhood and remembered it, that's why I bought it on my steam and played it. I tried doing so without any hints or walk-throughs or even any ideas from my friends. Finished it in 4.3 hrs. Such a lovely game. The story is well-designed, you can feel their emotions in the things they go through, and you root for them to win. I totally recommend it. Sometimes the puzzles are hard, but the ECSTASY of solving it and going to the next step is unparalleled. You will feel a certain type of way after solving each puzzle, TRULY rewarding.
I remember some comments saying some puzzles are unsolvable but trust me they're okay! Just be patient and try to think "simple" instead of complex. You don't need to click every pixel to see where something randomly interacts. Try to think in the MC's stead and I'm sure after less than 10 minutes you'll solve the problem :)
Found the puzzles and story fun.
The controls felt pretty unresponsive at times and had me wondering if this was a port from another platform. In a game that has objects you can interact with but aren't highlighted, you may find yourself missing something within an area and having to double back. This became frustrating and somewhat tedious.
If you don't see yourself being fazed by the issue above, I recommend giving this game a chance. Especially if you can pick it up for a few bucks on sale.
Machinarium is a fun puzzle game with a nice art style. It's a casual game but it does have a couple of mini games and one combat section. None of Machinarium is overly hard, but there are a few puzzles that will feel very frustrating until you get the hang of them. As far as the art style goes, Machinarium is 4.5/5, gameplay is a 4/5, and the challenge is a 3/5. I would recommend Machinarium to puzzle game fans looking for a moderate challenge and some relaxing music.
One of the cutest games I’ve ever played I’m not even done and it’s already one of my favourite games, I really like how the puzzles are challenging as well
Overwhelmingly cute! Great point & click with humor, challenging puzzles and amazing art. Love everything by Amanita Design
It's really as good as they say. Like all point and clicks there are a few moments of what tf do i do. But even with that this game is a masterclass of the genre. Highly recommend,
First discovered Amanita Design when I played Samorost 1, leading me to buy all the games that were published by them since they were all at a steep discount. I got the idea that I should play them in order of release date, so after beating samorost 2 I figured Machinarium was next.
First off, the game is beautifully designed and the art style feels unique as a selling point for this game. I was able to do the first 2 puzzles by myself, but I straight up didn't know what I was doing after that. Fortunately this game has a in-built walkthrough, but you have to play a extremely easy mini-game that takes way too long to beat and it got tedious quickly. Granted I probably didn't give this game enough of a shot because I went into this expecting a comfy 5 hour experience so I can clear it off the backlog. I guess I don't have enough patience for this type of game. Leaving a positive review anyways cause I don't think any issues I had are the fault of the game itself.
Childhood game, I pay tribute after so many years I finally beat it. Thanks Amanita Design
Funny review:
I am bad at puzzles
Actual review:
Mechanarium is a genius game. Its puzzles are simple at their easiest, and require a good knowledge of logic systems at their worst. Meaning that, even with a brain as stupid and deformed as mine, you can triumph over Machinarium.
The whole game is excellently designed. Both visually and in its gameplay elements. The city of Machinarium is so interesting and grotesque at the same time. It's dirty, rusted, and old. Along with that, it's lively. People going about their day exist everywhere in Mechanarium. You have bums sitting on the street, people going to church, animals frolicking about, etc. There's a lot going on here. The drawn style works wonderfully with the visual themes of the game. I felt like I was looking at the inner workings of some sort of mega-structure. Watching one part of a massive whole.
The puzzles themselves are the main bread and butter of Mechanarium. For as pretty as it looks, it would be nothing without the puzzles. Every bit of progression is done through puzzle solving. All of which require logic based thinking or comparing and memorizing data for later use. In that sense, I felt the way a machine would. Going about my day while following the code that I'm programmed to run on. This really tied the whole experience together. The fun story that went along with it was the cherry on top.
This is a cute game that I highly recommend to anyone to try. Especially if you love puzzles.
The last part is practicaly inposible but we have tehnology(Youtube)Nice game i recomend
Machinarium is quite uniquely crafted point-and-click puzzle game with stunning hand-drawn graphics. Its visual style feels like stepping into a beautifully illustrated storybook. The puzzles are clever and sometimes quite challenging, requiring sharp attention to detail and creative problem-solving. Every little element in the environment could be a clue, so stay observant! It’s a rewarding experience for players who enjoy intricate puzzles and an atmospheric journey. Definitely worth playing!
Very pretty very old school point and click with some of the most infuriating pixel hunting like the worst of the classic point and click. Along with some very questionable logic. All this is forgiven because of great art, sound and a sweet plot. Use a walkthrough for it.
Really charming and beautiful game.
The puzzles are nice, ramps up in difficulty slightly towards the end.
There is the hintbook, when you're stuck (I was one time), but at least you gotta work for the hint^^
I will ALWAYS recommend to try on your own as much as you can (or even more than you think you can ;-) ), it's always more satisfying to solve a tricky puzzle yourself;
especially when you already sorta gave up on it but gave it a "one last try" anyway.
The MUSIC! The music, the music! Lovin it.
Overall, really good experience!
It is much appreciated the great bundle pack!!! Now just trying to play in an iPad, wish me luck
Pretty much every puzzle made my brain bleed ( i am idiot ) but when i managed to figure it out on my own i felt like a proper G. Luckily, the game has a neat "walkthrough" mechanic, where you play a little side scroller shooter to unlock a book that tells you how to do things --- I will say though, there were some sections where it still didn't make sense because it omitted some aspects or steps. Many times using the guide it was like OH! of course but there are definitely puzzles where i was scratching my head wondering how any person is supposed to think to do this without any hints.
At the end of the day, i was really playing this for the aesthetic and as a chill palette cleanser which this absolutely provided. I'm not sure that it's necessarily worth full price, but on sale you will pay less than $5 and get your moneys worth.
It was an okay point and click adventure game that I would give 6/10 but about halfway through the game it started lagging for 3-4 seconds about every 3-4 seconds. I searched for a fix but nothing worked for me and I had to finish the last half of the game with lagging. Get it on a sale if it looks interesting to you and you like point and click adventure games.
