This is easily one of my most favorite games. Words cannot describe the quality of atmosphere, art direction, music, and general creativity this experience brings to the table. I played this game many years ago as a child in the old flash version. Every couple of years I keep coming back to it and it feels absolutely delightful to re-enter the world of Machinarium, even though I've memorized the solutions to most of the puzzles. The mesmerizing hand-drawn visuals, the comforting tunes of Tomas Dvorak, and the simple but lovable characters make this a staple of PC gaming and a must-buy.
this game makes me scary and excited at the same time
I've been playing video games since I was 10 years old, and now I'm 45. I studied video game design and have worked in the games industry for many years. I've seen a lot... If I had to choose my favorite, it would be Machinarium. :-)
I love Machinarium with all my heart!
The characters, the story, the design, the music are unique and perfect.
This game never gets old. It is still as cool as it was in 2009.
Played it as a kid and absolutely loved it back then. The atmosphere, music, and art is great and I regard it as one of the best games in the genre.
very good game i recommend to others due to the fun story line
Absolute gem.
Played it as a kid for the first time and loved it back then, and I keep coming back to replay it frequently.
The atmosphere, music, and art is top notch and I regard it as one of the best games in the genre.
I love drinking oil. Incredible game, love the air, love the atmosphere, the puzzles are pretty fun too.
Good relaxing Game with great puzzles
Art work: 11/10
Music: 11/10
Story: 11/10
I wish Amnita design creates Machinarium 2
Engaging variety of puzzles!
i've played this game as a child, and going back to it has been a nostalgic journey.
it's an adorable puzzle game! the puzzles vary in difficulty. if you're in search for a heartfelt, beautifully crafted game, this is a must play.
OMG i love this game its so GOOD
it took me 221 hours to beat when i was like 7. masterpiece
Machinarium is a point & click puzzle game. It is short and sweet. Puzzles aren't too complicated. The game always gives you some clues about what to do. The story is very simple. You are controlling Josef the robot, and you have to help him save his girlfriend Berta. The art style is fantastic. Every screen is beautiful, and backgrounds are filled with details. The soundtrack is very relaxing. Other than one or two puzzles, the progression is very straightforward. Like I said, the game is short, and I think that is what makes this game enjoyable. If Machinarium was longer and filled with more elaborate and complex puzzles, it would have been boring. Overall, it's a great game and deserves all the awards it has gotten. I don't like puzzle games that much, but I enjoyed playing every second. If you have never played puzzle games before, Machinarium is the perfect game to start
The ending was so good, I wonder what happened in the credits where the robots got separated again.
Honestly it's a masterpiece. From the gameplay to the artwork to the soundtrack, every single bit of this game has been well made and polished. The experience of this game is serene and calming, it's amazing how Amnita manages to make a great game one after the other. Definetly on of my favourite games out there.
I loved this game so much, everything amanita has made is just delightful, if they made a second one all these years later I would buy it in a heartbeat
A damn good but pretty difficult game. Expect to have to consult a guide once or twice throughout your playthrough.
One of the games, which I used to play as a child. It is on the shorter side but still fun to play with a nice storyline. I definitely enjoyed it after all those years, and I certainly finished it faster than back then. :) I would recommend it to anyone.
recommed very hard
Great atmosphere, but a tiny bit harder than I would have liked it to be.
Good fun and very unusual but frustrating archaic games. Space invaders? Tic, tac, toe?
what a neat, fun little point and click. totally deserving of it's reputation. i can only hope to see a part 2 of this caliber someday!
certified classic
Amazing game! Loved the puzzles, art and storyline - 9/10
One of the best puzzle games I've played. 10/10
A very charming short point & click style puzzle adventure that's well worth your time. Very cool music from Tomáš Dvořák
Great game!
If I ever have kids one day, this will probably be the first video game I will introduce them too. Not only does this hold such a special place in my heart but it's story reminds me of how one will always persevere for love no matter what limitations they have. A true example of what a quality indie game looked like before the age of consumption.
Everything in this is simply a work of pure art.

The soundtrack is awesome, the puzzles aren't too difficult nor too easy, and most of all, the ART is so pleasing to look at. The game has such a cozy atmosphere. Love it.
I've played Machinarium 3-4 times during different stages of my life so it has a special place in my heart. ^^
I played the game many years ago. Every now and then, I think about the puzzles, characters, and theme. It is a classic for me.
I really love playing these kind of games. Really makes you think outside of the box (so to speak). My wife and I worked together on one of the puzzles. I finished it finally with a 100% completion.
goat
very creative and good graffics
Machinarium. A game from what feels like a bygone age - Both in reality and in-game!
Set in a world of anthropomorphic robots, this charming little game is a point and click puzzle solver. Through its beautiful atmosphere and hand-drawn environments, you'll solve puzzles and make your way through the city to help find your robot girlfriend.
Not going to lie, this game was a bit of a struggle for myself. Completing it required a guide about halfway through. If you're interested, consider playing this in short, 1-hour bursts. If you plan on 100%'ing it, you absolutely should use a guide. It's possible to finish it all without one, but saving time is better than feeling smart. (In this case, at least.)
Before purchasing, it should be noted that the game will tend to lag and/or have input delay. This isn't too much of an issue given the game's genre, but it's very noticeable.
Other than that, it's a fun classic to try and work through. Grab it if it's on sale!
Nice game with good puzzles and storyline. Like!
10/10 Absolutely recommend :]
if you aint bopin to perdu radio you aint human. my all time favorite game.
Cute game, worth a play. Basically a windows 7 wallpaper if it was a game.
One of my favorite point and click adventure games. The atmosphere, music and vibe of it are just great and the puzzles actually make sense and don't require some of the bullshit "galaxy brain" solutions present in some other titles in the genre. Although it is kind of on the short side, nothing wrong with that, but I feel like the ending might have been rushed a bit. Anywho I really hope it gets a spiritual successor set in the same world someday.
its pretty good, some of the puzzles can be a little difficult to find out if you're not using any of the hints.
Comes with some challenging yet highly satisfying puzzles. Great artwork and score. Mechanics are a bit clunky but overall a fun experience.
A true classic of its kind. Played through it again, and achieving a perfect game felt incredibly satisfying. I know Tomas Dvořák’s soundtracks by heart, yet hearing them in the game still warms my soul. It's truly remarkable how this game has remained timeless and continues to captivate just as much as when it first came out. Beautiful!
It was a great game!
What a absolute legend game, holds up in 2024.
Machinarium is an indie game so visually appealing and delightful that I almost feel guilty for not recommending it to other players. That Machinarium's art direction, music, and adorable character design are fantastic draws can't be understated; it's the rare kind of cheeky whimsy that we simply do not see every day. There were times I would boot up the game and be mesmerized by the landscape and the soundtrack on the main menu screen for a moment before starting. Were that the gameplay matched the fun of the game world. What follows is an honest description of my Machinarium experience.
I impulsively bought the game when it went on sale, enamored with the charming art style and fully expecting a short and sweet point-and-click adventure game following a little robot dude who makes lil' noises... emphasis on the pointing and clicking aspect. Instead, I got what can only be described as a tortuous combination of sporadic IQ tests and tedious flash arcade games that make you appreciate how fun Pong and Tetris really are, disguised by the game's friendly art direction, with some good, juicy point-and-click adventuring in between. When I say "IQ tests," I literally mean a series of visual problem-solving questions, with specific solutions, without the luxury of multiple choices. I thought it was going to show me a score of 70 in giant red letters along with the Dark Souls "You Died" sound effect at the end of all that. I have trouble rotating a cube in my mind, so you can imagine how much gamer rage I experienced.
Regarding the infamous tic-tac-toe minigame: The achievement for getting past this oft-maligned segment was tweaked. I know this because the achievement I got back in 2019 was for beating tic-tac-toe 5 times, whereas now, the achievement is only for beating it once. I think you need to place your bolts in a somewhat specific manner to get the algorithm to let you win.
I'll mention here that the reason I didn't get anywhere near finishing the game when I first got it five years ago was due to an unfortunate bug where my save game files were never retained. Luckily, I didn't have that issue this time. Also luckily, there's an immersive and generous in-game walkthrough available with a page for every scene and situation. The walkthrough has to be unlocked every time you use it by playing yet another minigame for a few minutes (an easy one, thankfully) but it's worth it, because I relied on it heavily to finish the game!
It's really too bad that so many people might've been prevented from finishing it, either from from technical difficulties or a lack of interest and enjoyment. Just look at the global achievements. It does not bode well that the vast majority of Steam players haven't finished this approximately 5 to 8 hour-long puzzle game to get the "Escape Machinarium" achievement for a 2009 Steam release. If, however, pop IQ quizzes and the Dark Souls of tic-tac-toe sound like a good time to you, go forth and purchaseth, and happy puzzling.
For those more interested in adventure games than puzzle games, I would not recommend playing this game to experience its story -- it's a simple tale, and being totally nonverbal, there's not much backstory or lore to delve into. Since it's firstly a puzzle game, it's all about the journey rather than the destination. The game ends abruptly, and the adventure is over in an instant. I think it is worth playing, or watching someone play, if you want to experience Machinarium's artistic excellence.
Amazing story, design and mood, with some cool puzzles to crack.
Highly enjoyable game however it did make me feel like an idiot searching for tips
