Nice story that is super quick if you learn the route which makes speedrunning/normally completing this game quick and enjoyable. Achievements were fun as well.
I want to like it but Nemesis is annoying as hell. Same issue RE2 had with Mr X. He was a boss fight with the option to escape in the original. Now he won't stay down more than a few seconds no matter how much you mag dump him.
Stalker enemies have ruined the series. The only recent game that did stalkers right was RE8 as they were only for short segments and it was possible to hide. You can't hide from nemesis. He's a 100% scripted stalker designed to fuck with your ammo conservation and patience.
Definitely a a downgrade from RE2 Remake. Nemesis barely puts in any appearances that are not cinematic or scripted. The game feels like a cut down, fast forwarded shadow of its former self. The voice acting and motion capture for the characters is wonderful, which adds to the frustration when coupled with the game using so many assets from RE2 remake that it shows there COULD have been enormous potential with the title.
I would not recommend and it pains me to say that as both a Resident Evil fan in general and a classic Nemesis on the PS1 fan in particular. Skip this one, play RE2 remake, it stays true to the spirit while actually being an upgrade, this does neither of those things.
I'll give an 8/10 because the they scrap most of the part in the original but you can replay this game multiple times to get those infinite ammo weapons
Firstly the game is to short since Capcom cut so much Content from the OG RE3
Secondly as of writing this Review the game cost more than the Resident Evil 2 Remake and Somehow the Resident Evil 4 Remake and with the lack of content I recommend never buying this game at full price
Lastly Nemesis is a complete let down especially since the OG Nemesis was considered revolutionary for the time and he was somehow was done better back then in 1999 than in this game made more than 20 year later
In Conclusion Only Buy this game when its on sale and If your looking to play your first Resident Evil do not get this one or if your just looking to play one of the Remake get the Resident Evil 2 or 4 Remakes both are really good or even just buy the original Resident Evil 3 on GOG
Not a good remake of RE3, but still a fun game in it's own right. The lost potential is unfortunate, and the flaws and cuts are undeniable, but if you can accept it for what it is, I think it's still a good time.
they cut out huge chunks of the game. not a good Remake. they had the blueprints all laid out and they cut huge parts and changed the dynamic of the relationships between characters. you miss out on more of the the science lab, the clock tower, playing as other characters is cut short as well as the you miss out on the umbrella real motive for the troops. I wish i could get my money back . i paid full price for less game.
Least favorite of the remakes, too short and feels rushed, but the cinematic & lewd mods are nice and its fun to explore Raccoon City.
Worth it:
- Get this game on a sale with RE2 and play them back to back
Not Worth It:
- Getting it at full price or even getting it on sale, but playing it without playing RE2.
This is a fantastic companion piece to Resident Evil 2, but not a great standalone experience. I love RE games, because each one is a pretty different setting and game play experience, while still being unmistakably Resident Evil. RE3 is no different; it's a more tight, fast paced sprint through a city going up in flames. It's a short, but sweet and unique experience among RE games.
However, its extremely short run time and linearity cause it to feel like a companion piece, or even expansion, to RE2.
Don't get this for the $40 price tag. Wait for both games to go on sale for a combined price for $40 or less and you have a well-worth it experience. Playing them back to back is especially satisfying.
Even as someone strongly against the weird, misguided, gamer-ideal of "$1 per hour of game play", a 6 hour experience that isn't even that satisfying, if you don't also play RE2, just ain't worth more then $20.
Don't know why my previous review got deleted.
This game is different from the original. There are scenes which are not included.
I played this with PrayDog's VR mod, and that experience was 10/10, and i never give 10s. It's one of the best gaming I've had, even if it needed a mod to do so
It's short for a RE game, and shorter than the game its remade from, but still a lot of fun and a solid entry in the series
I've never played the original RE3 but I enjoyed this as an ACTION game, not a survival game and defiantly not a horror game.
Game feels more like a DLC rather then a full fledged game. It sucks because there is so MUCH more that this game could have been. Buy on sale, game takes less then 4 hours to complete.
Since this game had so many cut content and is pretty short (2-3h for first run, if u waste so much time it can be 5-6) I can not recommend it at full price. But on a sale? yeah sure its more resident evil definitely worth it. and if u wonder why i have 27h in game (probably more in future) well i spend lots of time being either afk or trying ideas, mods etc.
NOTE: If in any case its gonna be ur first RE I highly recommend either RE7 or RE4 Remake instead. Even RE2 is a better option. Also all in game rewards can be obtained for free pretty easy (u can search for a guide) so pls dont waste ur money on extra content like that.
Is fun.... but why does Capcom feel the need too cut half the content and make Nemesis a weak little turd that goes down with one nade XD
I don't really understand the hate this game gets from some fans. Yeah, this game marks the trend towards being more action-oriented, but I think Jill is a compelling antagonist, and the story itself is pretty good.
I liked the game very much a little short i bought at full price so if u can get any kind of sale price go for it that way
It's cool but a short version of the original Resident Evil 3, i wish they made it exactly the same with the OG RE 3 would've been AMAZINGLY COOL!
Story is too short. Nemesis is so freaking strong and fast on inferno mode but at least I beat all difficulties
A great but very short action game. Even by the series’ standards, it’s completed very quickly. The game focuses much more on action than the second part: characters are more agile, the controls feel more responsive, and there's almost no resource shortage. Most metroidvania-like elements have been simplified, which really hurts the replay value. Overall, it’s a very fast-paced and entertaining game. The story is simple, but it works well for an action horror game.
If you set the right expectations, it's a very fun 5-hour experience—especially if you didn’t enjoy the slower pace of the second game.
It definitely doesn't live up to the original Resident Evil 3, since there's many things the original did that this does not. However, it is still a solid resident evil game and it looks GREAT!
I barely recommend the game, but still do.
I know this game has a bit of a mixed reputation among fans, and its not all incorrect what they say, this game IS too short for its price, Nemesis is kinda scripted, Inferno mode is highly unfair, these are all true, I still really enjoyed the game though. I did my first playthrough blind and it was definitely way more enjoyable than I expected from what I heard people saying. Don't pay full price for it, but if you see it on sale absolutely go for it. Anyways, I want those last achievements so guess I'm going back to the Inferno grind... ugh...
as a game? this is bad
as a remake? this is wank
SO much content from the original was just cut and nemesis isn't even scary in the remake.
id say im around 93% sure that capcom rushed this game just so they could jump to re4
The game's graphic quality is very good and the gameplay is very entertaining. It's a shame that it's so short. I still recommend buying it and trying to get all the achievements. 8/10.
Resident Evil 3 Remake – A Thrilling but Short-Lived Ride
Capcom’s Resident Evil 3 Remake delivers a stunning, action-packed reimagining of the 1999 classic, but it falls short in some key areas. The RE Engine brings Raccoon City to life with incredible visuals and smooth gameplay, while Jill’s new dodge mechanic adds a fun layer to combat.
However, Nemesis—once a terrifying, unpredictable stalker—feels overly scripted, lacking the free-roaming terror of Mr. X from RE2 Remake. The game is also noticeably short, with several original locations, like the Clock Tower, completely removed. While it’s an exciting, fast-paced experience, the lack of content and replayability makes it feel less substantial than its predecessor.
⭐ 7.5/10 – A visually stunning but disappointingly brief remake.
The weakest of the RE remakes, but still fun. I personally didn't enjoy all the "run away from Nemesis" parts but that's how it goes. Graphics are great, overall it's fun, pick it up when on sale.
The game is short, and the quailty is drastically reduced towards the end. Way too many cutscenes. Stick to the remake of 2 and 4.
Utter abysmal dog shit. You will be stun locked many many times, mainly by nemesis in each of his fights. The only fight that was decent was the flame thrower fight and even that was boring instead of being bad. The final fight drags on longer than it should. Easily the worst resident evil game by a long shot. The dodge mechanic is easily the worst part of the game. It doesn't work instantly and it only works 20% of the time but that's another issue, this game is built around that dodge mechanic so many things aren't fun to deal with. The worst offender is Carlos with his awful punch that works only 5% of the time and when he has to deal with hunters who can instantly kill you very easily it is horrible to see him punch point blank and miss somehow. Its gun play feels worse than RE2 remake and the game just feels cluttered. It is not worth even thinking about getting this game and playing the original where this game is done justice is the better option. Final addition is this game is short less than 6 hours if you play at even a normal pace. Horrible game!
I get why long-time fans of the series weren’t too happy with this version. But if you’re new to the RE universe like me, it’s actually pretty good. Later on, give the classic '99 version a shot. That’s what I did, and it made me appreciate both versions even more. Great game, and a lot of fun to speedrun.
This is the first resident that I passed at 100%, mostly laziness did not allow me to pass other games in the same way, but purely for myself who played or rather watched as the older brother loved this part made me pass this remake at 100%.
P.S I hate looking for shitty documents...
boring remake and the playerbase is awful jill get behind me
RE3 was a really fun game, and I don't mind if changed some scenes from the original, in addition, the dodging maneuver mechanic is so satisfying when you pull it off. Really great game, but I really wished if they kept it one - to - one with original which will be awesome.
By far my fav RE title in the franchise. The story is amazing and catching, moreover, it's simple and easy to follow and the files add value to it. The combat system is fantastic, aiming looks realistic with accuracy and recoil, variety of weapons and upgardes. Furthermore, the new mechanic dodge system is amazing, it takes practice to perfect it and literally you can dodge everything in the game. For the monsters, they are unique and challenging, every monster has a backstory and on harder difficulty they can one shot you. As for replay value, it gives you a lot to purchase and collect and almost everything you get, it benefits you for your next playthrough. Overall, I highly recommend this game and don't listen to the bad reviews about it, trust you will enjoy it...STAAARS
Despite the Mercenaries mode literally being introduced in RE3, this remake does not have a single side mode. It has the shortest campaign out of every modern resident evil game, with entire sections from the original being cut completely, and that is IT. Especially being situated between the remakes of 2 and 4, and even remake 1, this game stands out like a sore thumb for being utterly barebones. I cannot believe people accused remake 4 of being "soulless" when this embarrassment is being sold for nearly the same price. A huge black mark on Capcom's modern renaissance, and to think that it bastardises such an all-time classic is just depressing.
This game is a disgrace to the original Resident Evil 3. It is sloppy in every aspect, and the story feels more like Resident Evil 5 than Resident Evil 3. It tries to mimic the movie, which was enjoyable as a film, but this game is not Resident Evil 3—just as the movie wasn’t Resident Evil 3. The characters are not faithful to their original counterparts, as it seems we can’t have characters who openly express their interests. I hate Crapcom this game is the absolute symbol of that, absolute disappointment.
It's an RE game and is serviceable, if you're a fan it's worth playing. If you're considering trying RE games, start with the RE2 remake, the RE4 remake, or even the original RE4.
I never played the original RE3, but after watching long plays I feel this remake got way less attention and effort than the RE2R. There is just too much cut content and not as a stylistic cut either. I put 45ish hours into RE2 remake, but only 12 into this and I don't want to revisit it.
same as resident evil 2 just does this maybe better not by much but i do like it puzzle not as bad.
As in Resident Evil 2, there is no possibility for melee combat. If you run out of ammunition, all you have left is your knife, which breaks immediately after one use. No chance to play through the game fluently. The first time you encounter several enemies in an area, you will most likely be dead. At least in Veteran mode. Since you don't know what to expect, you have to play the same situation over and over again until you have adjusted everything accordingly to get through a certain area, because: no melee combat. You get to an area where there are 4 zombies and you have 20 rounds left? Don't even try it. You can't push them away nor kick them. You're at their mercy. Even if you knock them down, they'll get up again after a short time. It's a total waste of time and it's a shame that the fun of the game is ruined by such trivialities. Another thing that annoys me is that you can't jump over ballustrades. And you have extremely little space to carry things at the beginning. In Resident Evil 4 these things have fortunately been fixed, which is really overwhelming compared to this game.
Well, This one was a little short for me. Old RE3 took days to beat. Had this one done in about 14 hours. Still tho, very fun game. Looks great for what it is
The game is way too short, it feels extremely rushed and cuts out a lot of content from the original. This is definitely the worst of the remasters, it feels more like a glorified tech demo than a game with how fixated it is on showing off graphics upgrades and ray tracing instead of focusing on gameplay and storytelling. At least you can get it cheap in a bundle during Steam sales, but even then I'd think twice as it offers less than 7 hours of content, and I play my games slowly.
It's fun, get it on sale. Not as much content as the others but what is there is good.
Not as good as Resident Evil 3 for the PS1 but still a fun game anyways. Def too short, but the og was short too soooo. Wish there were more unlockable costumes other than the dlc ones and the S.T.A.R.S. outfit you can buy from the shop. Anywaysss Capcom bring back Carlos in Re9 i miss my husband.
Kinda boring and short story, not a fan
Resident Evil 3 is one of the greatest survival horror games of all time, it balances action and horror brilliantly, features a badass returning protagonist from another one of the best survival horror games, and introduces the grandfather of the stalker enemy.
Of course, the review above was for the original Resident Evil 3, the remake is a very different game.
Resident Evil 3 Remake falls short of its predecessor in the following categories:
Costumes; The original Resident Evil 3 had eight alternate costumes, while the Remake has... 2. In addition to the lower amount of costumes the costumes themselves aren't terrible, but they definitely aren't as exciting as the originals Dino Crisis outfit, as the remake features the worst adaptation of the of RE3 outfit, though it does feature (in my opinion) one of the better S.T.A.R.S outfits being the first time said outfits been featured in a modern title.
Locations; The game omits several locations from the original such as City Hall, The Press Office, The Raccoon City Park, The Graveyard, The Dead Factory, and most jarringly, the Clocktower. These commissions leave the remake world version of Raccoon City empty and unsatisfactory.
Enemies; Just like the Resident Evil 2 Remake, the Resident Evil 3 Remake forgets the giant spiders, while also getting rid of the gravedigger boss fight, leaving Nemesis as the only boss in the game.
Nemesis; The biggest flaw in my opinion is that Nemesis is no longer a stalker enemy, he is scripted and only had one area of the game where he was sort of a stalker, but I don't find this to be too harrowing considering the RE@ remake turned Mr. X, a scripted enemy, into a stalker enemy, so between the games Mr. x and Nemesis changed dynamics, which certainly isn't the worst that can happen.
I just listed a bunch of things I think the Resident Evil 3 Remake doesn't do the best, so what about the things it does excel at?
Characters; Various characters are portrayed so much better in the remake, Jill hasn't worsened or improved in my opinion, she is still a badass who suffers only slightly from not having a definitive Spencer Mansion background in the remake universe yet. Carlos went from being an unremarkable sideshow to a Keanu Reeves-style action star with relatable dialogue as he gets as frustrated with puzzles as the player does, in addition to having pretty neat hair. Nikoli Is a delightful villain who gets plenty of scenes of being a general nuisance and outright unhinged individual with little regard for others, and while his end is a little lackluster, he was entertaining at the very least. Mikhail doesn't have much screen time, but he makes the most of it by his determination to rescue those around him, and in his final moments he stands up valiantly to Nemesis. Tyrell is another character that has a smaller presence, but does his best in his moments to do right and also sacrifices himself to give Jill time to escape her tyrant stalker.
Gameplay; The game has very similar gameplay to the RE2 remake, but with the addition of dodging, which can be finicky, but if pulled off right can be very beneficial to gameplay, the perfect dodge also slows down time and auto aims at enemies weak points for an extra edge in combat.
Extra items; Extra items in RE games are always delightful, but the ones introduced in RE3 Remake are some of my favorites, the Hot Dogger and Raiden look like they're ripped straight out of a sci-fi game and the combat manual, and medallions make the game easier by increasing perfect dodge windows and applying bonuses to combat, defense, and healing.
Enemies; I know I had a section for enemies in the negatives, but while the game did remove some, it also added some, such as replacing the Brain Suckers with Drain Deimos, that are part of the scariest section in the game, the Ne-α parasite zombie, which has a large promiscuously designed parasite attached to its head that can attack from a distance and up close, and the Hunter Gamma, which is a fusion of the Gravedigger and Hunter Beta.
Ultimately the game has its flaws, yes, but it isn't a terrible game, on the contrary, I find it to be as enjoyable as the RE2 remake, If anyone finds themselves debating on wether or not to get the game, my advice is if you like resident evil, if you like horror, if you like zombies, then you'll like Reident Evil 3 Remake.
Amazing game, quite short in comparison to other resident evil games tho. the areas are amazing and nemesis is insane. The story makes the most sense when you play RE2 aswell.
8.5/10
The whole process of this game is only a few hours, less than five hours? It's still 198 RMB. Are you crazy about money?-这个游戏整个过程才几个小时,5个小时都不到?,还卖198块钱人民币,想钱想疯了吧?
After years I finally managed to give it a shot. I've played 2 and 4 Remake and they have their special places and I have had my own reasons why I didn't touch 3 'till now. this shouldn't have been a standalone game, Capcom didn't quite deliver the expectation we had for it, they could make 3 a DLC for RE2 Remake back in 2020. Out of all RE Remakes, especially 2,3,4, I think the most prestigious one is 4 without any doubt. but 3 for me is the most weakest. For certain, I can say they were just lethargic and ran out of ideas and reused same elements from RE2, which we can clearly see in game, the only mechanic they implemented is dodge and updated Jill Model. At the end, to my thinking they shouldn't even have made this to be honest lol.
Very fun, i love that big boi zombie hes very cash money
Played this at the height of my last RE fixation. Game play was similar to RE2 Remake. It was fun running through the city. The game in fact felt short. I was disappointed to learn how much was cut from the original. It tells a story but i guess not quite by the books of the first game. Will have to find an opportunity once in my life to play the original.
7/10 but do recommend.
