The WORST Resident Evil game I ever played. If you are not a fan of resident evil series, do not play it.
Trust me I even played umbrella chronicles and dark chronicles.
But yeah I will play it :)
claire has a nice ass, and raid mode is really fun, fond memories of grinding that on ps3
Well RE Revelations 2 is definitely better than the first one. I liked the plot, sometimes the game was challenging but in general enjoyable. The worst thing about the game is that it's broken, I don't know why, but sometimes it just gives you a slideshow for about 2-3 mins whenever you start/restart. Overall It's a good game.
I forgot to get this game when it came out, so glad I got it when I did. This game has elements like the old games of nemesis fun for different play through's. Definitely worth at least two play through's.
I just found out about the raid mode never even knew it existed and I’m hooked leveling different characters and unlocking weapons and skills it’s pretty addicting hopefully we get a full RE: Raid game one day.
I would say this game is an 7/10. It has its ups and downs, but it's good. You have to buy the other episodes so that's one thing. If you get the deluxe edition then you get all the dlc for 20$ I think. Raid mode has enough gameplay for hours after you've completed the main story. It's one of my favorites in the series, so I hope you like it too if you ever get it.
I say NAH! this Resident Evil is very good in cooperative mode , aslo in singleplayer but you have only 1 episode for free and another episodes you have to buy! i see that this is some scam from developers...

the game only crashes unplayable
Just like with the first game, I only hit thumbs up because there's no mid option.
Admittedly more atmospheric and open than the first Revelations, and the last time we'll hear Claire being voiced by Alyson Court (Capcom went with non-union VAs for the RE2 remake), it's not much better in terms of controls or how frustrating combat is. Unlike the first, your partners are practically useless in combat in this one. Moira refuses to use a gun after accidentally shooting her little sister Polly after Barry forgot to lock up one of his (first mentioned in S. D. Perry's RE novel adaptations AFAIK) but uses a crowbar that's not very powerful even with skill-ups. Natalia is a little girl too small and weak to do more than bash in fallen foes' heads with a brick if she finds one. Ammo is likewise scarce and you'll be using your knife to finish off downed foes just to conserve it. Healing also takes more time than necessary because herbs have to be put into a sprayer first so don't expect to heal up mid-combat.
The story is decent but not terribly inspired and uses some tired ideas from previous entries in the franchise. Plus the epilogue really hinted at a potential third game but it never materialized. The environments are detailed and creepy, and thematically appropriate. But be prepared to do a lot of backtracking to find all the weapon mods and hidden items, which will be necessary in later levels. The addition of character skills that require points to unlock does help a bit, but too many prove just plain useless in practice. The amount of BP necessary to unlock any of them is just nuts and will require some serious farming by replaying older levels.
It's not really a good game but it's not really bad, either. It's just...mid.
Just finished this game and its pretty good, its been a while since a re game made me scared to some degree, gameplay n story wise id say 7.5/10 but gotta say it does stutter every now and then probably my pc aint the fastest n powerful but i dunno.so yeah before u buy it make sure ur pc is able to handle it.other than that its a good game.Does provide some challenge and some good scare factor.Id give a overall score about 8/10.
Worth it for the raid mode but not the main story. I feel like the main story of this one is terrible, one of the worst in the franchise. The pacing and mechanics of it is absolutely terrible. Each campaign has a side character who you have to swap with way too often who can't really fight on their own. They have regenerating health so if another player plays them, they actually can contribute decently when upgraded with skills. The game has these puzzles with these cubes multiple times and it just slows things down massively for no reason. There is another puzzle later with a crane that is also painfully slow. It does have a few moments where your actions in one episode impact the other which is kind of cool but it just it misses the mark narratively. The raid mode on the other hand is an online co op mode and is pretty cool and has a grind to it and a bunch of character options, upgraded weapons and parts and monster modifiers that make it a fun alternative to mercenaries mode. It has a bunch of enemies and stages from other resident evil games. IMO the raid mode is why this game is good so I can recommend it for that, but if you want a good RE story, play the main line entries.
If you want to play this RE game, you need a mid end PC in order to play this smoothly, i know my laptop is not a gaming laptop, but RE2 Remake runs far smoother in my laptop rather than when playing this one
also the stutter oh my goodness, then it crash and force-quit oftenly and idk why
For this low price a good game. Online it do not have players. It is easy to use mods. Only set up the graphics ingame. Outside with a gpu manager it can lead to a crash. gl hf :)
(There are much better Resident Evil games you can buy.)
This game just isn't finished. The first problem is that the screen was off center with the left edge off screen. I could still get full screen by using a window at the highest resolution but, why should I have to fool the game into going full screen. When I decided to start a new game I started with a pistol and, shotgun that I couldn't use because I was before the tutorial for using guns. I decided to put my guns away but, after the point in the story where you first receive a pistol I didn't have a pistol because I have to retrieve it from the work bench.
One of the best, maybe THE best but underrated RE games ever. I probably put more time into this RE than any other out there, mostly because of this one's unique "raid mode," which is like a cool RE themed arcade game. Definitely worth it. I did not care much for all of the microtransactions, but if you ignore those and just play the game, it's still great.
Multiplayer/Co-op is only viable with controllers if you want to NOT have issues or weird controlls, and setting it up without a controller tok me hours due to steam. Playing on different pcs and if ur not in the same continent will cause major issues as well with massive lag.
It feels like the game RE:0 should have been. I thought being able to affect Barry's campaign in Claire's was a pretty cool feature. Overall, i think it's easily the best of the "side" Resident Evil games.
I bought this game thinking it would be a normal RE, I didn't read any reviews, and that was a mistake because I didn't know that you have to pay for each episode. Unfortunately, i can't return this game anymore. It's just a shame that you have to pay for episodes.
I'm giving a positive review, for the gameplay itself, the game is quite nice, the music is cool, the controls are ok and the AI is smarter.
Worst Resident Evil game to ever exist. It's like they ran out of ideas and just took elements from every resident evil game and just through it all together to make this game. HOWEVER I highly recommend every other Resident Evil game (except revelations 1 & 2) , they are my absolute favorite games to play!!!
Weird game, just about every element has more potential but the whole package is aggressively average. Not the worst mainline Resident Evil entry but also far from the worst.
At least we get more Claire and Barry!
I bought this game on different platforms, this game just one of a rare gem in residen evil franchise, and man Barry and Moira are great in this story
The campaign isn't online multiplayer, just play re5.
Brings me back to my childhood when I would sit down and play with my brother on split-screen starting on Xbox 360. It's a good game to just sit down, relax, and shoot some zombies.
I enjoyed the game, but it's laughable that they think I'm going to replay parts of it just to get the "good" ending
evil antagonist woman 10/10
raid mode is god
Episodic games were once a trend, allowing smaller studios to finance projects that would otherwise be impossible. Typically, these games focus on storytelling rather than gameplay. However, Capcom has taken a different approach with Resident Evil Revelations 2, balancing story and gameplay in an engaging way.
Originally exclusive to the Nintendo 3DS in 2012, Resident Evil Revelations aimed to blend classic and modern elements of the franchise. Revelations 2 continues this trend, offering a mix of action, exploration, and horror. The game is structured into four main episodes, each split into two parts, along with two additional episodes introducing new mechanics.
The narrative follows two duos: Claire Redfield and Moira Burton, who are kidnapped and imprisoned, and Barry Burton, who searches for his daughter with the help of Natalia Korda, a mysterious girl with special abilities. The story, set between Resident Evil 5 and Resident Evil 6, is well-paced, offering surprises and classic horror moments.
Gameplay encourages cooperation, either through AI or local co-op, with one character focused on combat and the other on support. While not overly action-packed, the game requires strategic shooting and resource management. Some environments enhance the horror experience, with tense encounters and invisible enemies adding suspense.
Beyond the main campaign, the Raid Mode provides an action-focused experience with RPG-like progression, multiple characters, and online co-op. Though it includes microtransactions, they are not essential. The game also offers collectibles, unlockables, and multiple endings, increasing replayability.
Visually, the game is reminiscent of old console games from the PS4 and Xbox One era. But it there are advantages to this - it running very well on Steam Deck and weak PC. Lighting and effects help mask its graphical limitations. Voice acting is decent - the eerie soundtrack and unsettling sound effects further amplify the tension, with sudden noises and distant screams keeping players on edge.
Overall, Revelations 2 is a strong blend of classic and modern approaches. With an 8-hour campaign, co-op, Raid Mode, plenty of unlockables, and multiple playthrough options, it stands as a worthy addition to the series. This game reaffirms that Capcom was once heading in the right direction.

9.5/10
Playing it for the first time I wasn't sure what to expect since I felt the RE games in this era had some funky features. Thankfully, I was pleasantly surprised! This one holds up way better than I expected and had me engaged start to finish. I'm not the biggest fan of the swap mechanic where you're unarmed character is also the one who finds the best loot, especially since as a loot hound I found myself playing unarmed much of the game, but they have some mechanics (crowbar FTW) to alleviate that, so it surprisingly didn't really diminish my enjoyment! I will definitely be looking forward to playing this whenever I do RE franchise replays, and I absolutely need more Burtons in my RE games now.
A good entry in the Resident Evil series. The main story is done quite well and the ability to change what happens in the other playable characters story is very unique. The raid mode however is VERY well done. The big list of characters to play from and trying to get even one to level 100 will take you ages, but in a good way! I hope raid mode comes back in future RE games.
Zombies don’t sleep. Have you ever wonder if making so many spin off makes the original thing kinda water down. Well here we are with a spin off game that really does not add anything new to the series just feels like a parity of itself. Some one at Capcom was like “hey guys you know what would be fun for all those gamers out there who want to play with their friends like RE 5 or 6 ?We should make the 2nd player competently useless and give them no weapons” everyone at the office agreed. You play 2 campaigns that cross together where you drag around a CPU or your friend who can’t do anything out point or crawl to small places. It’s like they thought RE 0 was not annoying enough with babysitting a useful partner with a gun. It also does not help the game puts in invisible enemies that can only be seen only by the little girl character, so the person with the gun has no idea how to kill them because pointing in the air is not a good aim mechanic. That’s not the fact the little girl is only play able in the Barry story line not the Claire one. If you feel like dragging a friend around for 8 hours for a story that is just filler than be my guest. It’s just not worth losing your sleep for them zombies. 5/10
Resident Evil Revelations 2 is a much stronger entry than its predecessor, addressing many of the issues that plagued the first game. The gameplay, while still clunky in movement and animations, feels more refined and enjoyable. The enemy variety is a major highlight, with a clever evolution in design between Claire and Moira’s campaign versus Barry and Natalia’s, showing the passage of time through decayed, skeletal foes. Combat also introduces interesting mechanics, like Natalia revealing enemy weak spots and detecting invisible threats, adding a layer of strategy.
The tedious scanning system from the first game is gone, replaced by Moira’s flashlight and Natalia’s sensing abilities, making item discovery feel more natural and optional rather than a forced chore. However, puzzles remain underwhelming, with only a few standout moments, like the eerie graveyard puzzle as an example. Unfortunately, the user interface is still a mess, feeling just as clunky and outdated as before. While not perfect, Revelations 2 is a far better experience than the first, with enough improvements to make it worth playing for Resident Evil fans.
I was really disappointed with "Resident Evil Revelations 2." The biggest issue is the episodic format. Having to pay for each episode separately feels like a cash grab, and it ruins the flow of the story. It’s frustrating to get invested, only to be hit with a paywall. The gameplay itself is average at best, with outdated graphics and clunky controls. If it weren’t for the annoying payment model, it might have been a decent experience. But as it stands, it’s hard to recommend.
Story mode is more survival orientated, while raid mode is a very fun grinding mode with new events.
very fun. not scary in all honestly. but it has a good storyline. would recommend buying the premium one tho. you get all chapters and some outfits
its actually a really fun game. i expected it to be kinda shitty but i ended up really enjoying it. the raid mode is also really fun (you can make wesker twerk!)
i dont think the game is perfect, it has a few flaws (it stutters like a bitch in some sections), but its a really fun game to play!
i give it a 8.5/10
Resident Evil Revelations 2 is my favorite from all the saga, Moira brought my favorite moment and my favorite quote from all the series, I will not mention spoilers about Moira's, but both are at the very end of Chapter 3, the main chapters are fun to play and it offers many ways to play them: Getting collectables, defeating enemies in certain ways, get through sections without taking damage or under certain time, or other circumstances, although RAID mode is also my favorite "Mercenaries Mode" from the entire series. I'm aware Resident Evil 6 placed the bases for this type of gameplay, but they toned down the excessive action and came back to a more Survival Horror ambient. It's like a blend of Resident Evil 0, Resident Evil 4, Resident Evil 5 and Resident Evil 6. Also, I loved having Barry as main protagonist in a Resident Evil game, it's one of my favorite characters from the series along with Claire. Moira and Natalia are both really great, and they complement very well both Claire and Barry.
[This review is made in a hurry because i was quite stressed out from doing one of its 'medal' requirements]
"okay (and kind of feminist) story, good gameplay, good graphics, Shitty achievements"
This game is good and fine in all aspects, but several achievements in this game make me choose to 'trash' it.
[1] The countdown mode could be too limited that in one part of episode you have quite a large window of time, while in the other is too little window of a time.
[2] Barry's 2nd episode medals is NIGHTMARE, "DEFEAT 2 ENEMIES WITH FOLLOW UP ATTACK"
it seems that the only enemies and way you could do so is by killing 'Revenants' (which is a sort of monster that can only be killed by hitting vital point in its body) with the 'help' of one other type of enemies 'sploder' (which shoots exploding projectile). So basically you have to wait for about 10 second of 'sploder' reloading each time, while having to wait and can only hit the 'revenants' ONLY WHEN HE'S DOWNED by the projectile. also THE PROJECTILE CAN STILL KILL THE REVENANT TOO (which deny your only chance to get the medal).
main point : The thing required VERY AND ONLY technical way for you to achieve it.
i might go back to replay the game (to finish it) but for now i'm just going for other better game to complete.
This is a good resident evil game, the atmosphere is creepy enough, the raid mode is so much fun tho.
Good game. I don't particularly like the swapping characters thing when playing single player but it's not a deal breaker. The controls and gameplay are slick, the story is servicable and the riot mode is fun. I also like the setting.
Fun game. Not very related to Revelations 1 but Barry is awesome as usual.
Pretty great game, quite disconnected from the first Resident Evil: Revelations but it stands well despite that, and Raid Mode is just as fun as in the first game, if not more so. Only downside is each of the four episodes are sold separately, with three of them counting as DLC.
In the end i think its worth playing if you enjoy games like it.
Character: 10 out 10
10 our of 10 for kickass female protagonists, Natalia is so adorable, love her power~
Playability: 8 out 10
The gameplay mechanic which allows for switching between two characters is really refreshing. The same goes for the unchronological storytelling. Natalia and Barry's storyline is six months after Claire and Moira's. So you can play as four characters in one game, which is fun. Initially, I was scared to play as Moira and Natalia since they can't use guns. However, I ended up spending most of my time playing as them. It did take me a while to get used to constantly switching characters, but it was definitely rewarding once getting the hang of it.
Recommend: 6 out 10
I enjoyed playing it. However, I only recommend this game to fans of the RE series( with that being said, if you are into zombies, psychological horror and find-a-way-out puzzle). After all, it's an older game with some glitches, and if you want to purchase all the episodes, the cost is on the high side.
I couldn't even finish the game bc in the final boss room, Barry would just be stuck unable to move and none of the fixes worked. Claire's dialogue sounds like shes been lobotomised and i have little to no interest in Moira at all. Reused locations and boring level design. Barely any variation between enemies. Barry was the only character I was interested in the entire game but sadly it just doesn't work so I can't finish it.
Review
If you try to take a look at the reviews most people don’t tell why they dislike it. The only thing that is hated is that its split in episodes. Yeah, playing the package and seeing a “last time on lost” esque recap is just idiotic. But being able to buy now the whole package: what does the game offer now?
Gameplay
First the biggest difference to revelations 1 is that the npc who follows you is now someone you can actively change to at any time. There is also the possibility to play the game in split screen which is somewhat the optimal way. Its one of the most unique coop games as its a story that is meant to be played for two people. You constantly split up and have to do tasks that help the other person to advance.
In combat only one person uses weapons while the other has two options. If you play as moira you have solely a flashlight and a melee weapon. Both being useful support weapons for setting up follow attacks. If you play as the kid in barry episodes you are basically useless. You can only throw bricks which are break easily, dont do any damage and are hard to set up. Your task is solely to point at invisible enemies if they appear.
This creates a somewhat of a asymmetric coop shooter that is more horror focused than resident evil 5 while also being relatively fun in combat, if you aren’t playing the kid in barry´s episode. Instead of upgrading weapons through a shop, you can find upgrades in secret chests that the support character can open. There is also a skill system adding some abilities which is okay.
There is also high replay value with various different modes or the mercenaries mode that is a bit more easier than the first revelations and less grindy.
Story
You are trapped on an island, starting in a prison and going further to explore what this island is about. If you play barry´s episode, its set in a different time uncovering more. Those two storylines collide and end up in a satisfying finale that is a bit more memorable than the first revelations, although having not much in common story wise aside a few mentions.
Sound
Maybe one of the weaker resident evil soundtracks while still being decent. Voice acting is available in more than just English, also neat.
Graphics
Originally programmed for being a download title, its available even on the PS vita. But this is not that noticeable on the pc port. It has a decent grunge look to it and feels more like a silent hill game. Neat.
Conclusion/TL;DR
I think its a decent resident evil spin-off. The unique coop aspects is what made the game really fun for me. It stands out from the rest due to this, although having its downsides. Combat is decent but absolutely boring for people who have to play the child. There should have been more aspects to the support character gameplay. Although its still fun playing this coop horror shooter.
This was the first Resident Evil title I ever played.
While I had heard of the series and seen clips of game play of popular RE titles growing up, I had never actually tried playing any until this one first released in it's entirety on the then new Xbox One in 2015. Having replayed it years later on PC and having played through other RE titles since I feel I can actually now give it a proper recommendation.
To briefly summarize the premise: Claire Redfield and Moira Burton (Barry Burton's now adult daughter) are captured by an unknown group and stranded on a dangerous seemingly abandoned island. Barry's story follows some time later where he arrives to the island to rescue his daughter with the help of a mysterious young girl named Natalia he finds immediately arriving there. The story is told episodically, meaning each level typically ends on a cliff hanger or truth bomb before moving on to the next episode (ie. level) and switches between Claire's parties perspective at the end of their episode's story to Barry's parties perspective.
Regarding Claire and Moira's story sections, Claire uses firearms and a knife and can melee kick certain enemies to the ground while Moira uses a flashlight to stun enemies and a melee weapon she can swing and can perform finishes on enemies that Claire kicks down. For Barry and Natalia, Barry is well armed and performs nearly all the combat since Natalia is a little girl, however only she can see certain enemies and enemy weak points that Barry can't and she can point them out. She can also throw objects to stun or distract enemies and can reach places where Barry can't as Natalia is smaller.
The game play is third person with over the shoulder aiming (yes, you can move while aiming) with only Claire and Barry being the only ones to use firearms. Companion ai and health bars work similarly to how they did in RE 4 (2005) and 5 except now they are playable and can be switched instantly between each other with a button in game or can be played by another player in coop.
Unfortunately, the companion ai much like previous titles is rather poor. Simple commands like "wait" and "follow" can be given to them, they do automatically fight or crouch depending on what the player controlled character does and inventories can be swapped and shared. When playing with Claire and Moira I almost always found myself controlling Moira as she was far more vulnerable when enemies closed in, usually I would stun enemies with the flashlight, quickly switch to Claire to have her give a round house kick to knock down the stunned enemy and then quickly switch back to Moira to perform a finisher. While this was probably the game play loop the developers had in mind when making the game, it can take away from the fun as I like playing Claire more but feel out of necessity not to do so.
Playing Between Barry and Natalia is better as expectations for Natalia in combat are different as you know she can't really fight. When playing as them I found that quickly swapping to Natalia to get a look at an enemies vulnerable spot and then back to Barry to shoot it was generally most effective. Some enemies that can one hit you are invisible and it becomes critical to see where they are. While not very reliable, even as an ai, Natalia can warn Barry verbally about them and can even point to where they are. Switching to Natalia to throw objects and distract enemies and just let ai Barry take them out is not a bad strategy either.
The bigger story as a whole is probably the games weakest aspect to me with only hardcore RE fans probably appreciating it the most. The contained parts of the story are a little better, with the idea of Barry coming to rescue his daughter being my favorite element. Series mains such as Claire and Barry are good to see as an RE fan and were even my favorite characters when I first played the game not realizing they had been much bigger parts of previous mainline games. I don't mind Moira, but her character's backstory to not touching firearms a bit cliche and feels more like it was used to justify the companion style flashlight/melee game play more than anything. Natalia feels the most out of place even though her presence in the story (and the RE canon timeline if your into that) is justified. It's pretty obvious she is something of a proxy daughter going with Barry as he goes to find his now lost adult daughter. It works though.
Graphically, the character models look fantastic, with the environments just being okay. Dull is a word that comes to mind. What it does well is give an appearance of dreariness and isolation so thematically they get the job done but with more love it could be a lot better. To me the flaws are more noticeable during Claire/Moira levels but that's probably more due to the fact that it's not as dark as Barry/Natalia's.
This title was created after the explosive action packed Michael Bay-esk RE:6, something I played later, and showed that this game was a good step back toward the survival horror the series had been slipping away from at the time. It's atmosphere and setting allows you to feel isolated right away, ammo and healing supplies are scarce and enemies feel dangerous and spooky. Over all, it feels like a horror game with action which is what I've come to believe what Resident Evil should be.
If you are a long time fan of the series then you probably already own this. If you're casual fan of the series and don't feel this is appealing, you're probably safe to steer clear as it doesn't add a whole lot to the series. If you're looking to dip you're toe into the RE universe or just the survival horror genre and don't want to try the excellent remakes that have been coming out then this might be next best thing as it doesn't really ruin or spoil the stories of any of the titles that came before it and while it might have some game play frustrations *cough* (companion ai) *cough cough*, it's still pretty mechanically solid and I think chilling enough to test your nerve which is not too shabby for a ten year old game.
If you do pick it up I recommend you get all the episodes not just the one. If price is an issue it does go on sale often and you can pick up the entire game for around $5.
Mysterious Revelations !
⨥ Posters and writings throughout the game reference earlier Resident Evil titles, especially RE1 and Code Veronica
⨥ A mechanical hand can be found in the tower, possibly a hidden reference to Nikolai from RE3
⨥ Can spot Alex Wesker’s shadow or reflection, that his personality and motivations closely resemble Albert Wesker but with a different philosophical approach
⨥ "Moira" comes from Greek mythology, referring to fate, which ties into her role in the story
The gameplay mechanics are kind of clanky but it is overall still functional. But IF you're here for the story of the game this won't be quite it. The problem is that each episode of this title is sold separately instead of just selling the whole story as one package which makes it feels discontinued in a sense. To give you a sense if its worth your time, the first episode of this is at most roughly about 3 hours playtime. You should consider more on whether or not to buy the next episode just for the sake of finishing the story or getting all achievements because it does cost quite an amount and there's 4 episodes with two extras episode. Aside from the campaign mode there are still one other mode like raid mode to grind for 'BP's' to then collect in-game collectives which might appeal to some players that like the grinding fun aspect but thats about it.
*ps: also if you're a speedrunner i guess you will find some additional value for this game as there's a leaderboard for the time taken to finish all episodes or each individual episodes.
This game is pretty underrated not going to lie. It's nice for Claire to be a main character again -- introducing (at least I think) a new character, Moira. It's really fun, raid mode is a good endgame activity and if you set the brightness properly then it's an actual horror game.
While Revelations 2 takes a bit from every Resident Evil formula, it fails to feel like a unique entry and instead an action game with some memories from the horror setting that made the franchise one of a kind. Still, there's fun to be had in this episodic entry.
With 4 episodes to play with different characters and game mechanics the game keeps it fresh between having a full killing spree and puzzles with exploration for you to figure it out. Each episode will take around 2 hours with one of them being a little longer than the others. After these, two extra episodes will also be ready for you if you want more Revelations 2. The balance of one of your characters being the stronger and the other the support role works well. Guns are satisfying enough, enemies are not huge bullet sponges if you know where to hit them and where to aim (you know those yellow and oranges blobs or the classic one shot with melee combo). Enemy variety is somewhat limited but it helps that the game has decent pacing, meaning that sometimes you'll be more focusing on killing and other times it will be more about exploring, finding keys or security key cards.
While I feel some enemies design can become like a cheap gaming design choice, in this case it works well. I'm talking about certain enemies that will make teamwork a solid experience. If you can't see an enemy but your partner can, it can provide an interesting and tense moment. Raid Mode is also back and it is what you can expect from a mode that is not new in these entries, however, I have spent little to no time in those modes. At around the 10 hour mark you will have everything the game has to offer campaign wise, unless you fancy more modes with an increase in difficulty. For those who enjoy unlocking achievements those were a little light on the campaign, meaning there's a majority of them to unlock via higher difficulty or by killing a bigger number of enemies. When possible I avoided combat, something I always tried to do in the original Resident Evil games. It feels better to play this way but it's no surprise that such thing changed in the latest and modern resident evil games. On a final note, I found much more fun and enjoyment in the first RE Revelations, the setting and levels are much more creative and the story is more enjoyable, still, RE Revelations 2 was a solid experience with no performance issues despite limited graphical settings.
Revelations 2 is one of the worse RE games before the Winters saga. It has terrible writing, not in the way nerds say, "Buh-well Resident Evil never had good stories!" but to the point that it becomes irksome. Moira Burton is not a character, she is a millennial anger archetype and a conduit for Barry to have his development channelled through.
Claire Redfield has lost everything in this game, most notably a personality. She talks like she's been lobotomized. Remember when she spent the entirety of RE2 taking care of Sherry? ... Yeah, suddenly this game establishes that Claire isn't good with kids, in order to give Moira exactly one trait.
The odd thing is that even in this game's awful storyline, there are moments of brilliance such as the plot of the Struggle DLC and the true ending. Speaking of true endings, this game has possibly the worst and most arbitrary case of being locked into a bad ending for reasons you could not have foreseen.
As for gameplay. This game has it. The episodic nature did its structure no favours, but there is a lot of clever recycling of locations. I'm pretty sure a few models, animations and sound effects were recycled from RE4 on the PS2 as well; that's fine by me though. The stealth mechanic is completely scuffed and broken, which makes focusing the Little Miss DLC on it a stupid decision. Otherwise however, the third person combat is still pretty fun even in this low-rent state.
The game is buggy and has low production values. It came out in 2015, yet the graphics resemble those of a PS2 game. Even the first Revelations game looked better... on the 3DS. It would make some small sliver of sense if this game was designed with the PS Vita in mind (even though we know the Vita is capable of better) but it clearly wasn't. I've played through the PS Vita port in its entirety, including the DLC, because I am a masochist. It verges on unplayable, with frequent stutters and graphical downgrades that make it look like a pre-alpha version.
The PC version looks so low-end yet demands high system requirements for the visual fidelity on offer. Even on my gaming laptop, it never felt like it was running 100% perfectly, because it's simply built in a very spotty way.
So why am I giving this game a Recommended despite all those criticisms? Because it's still fun enough to play through. It's like frozen pizza: you know there's far better out there, but this will do in a pinch. Be sure to buy it on a massive discount. And I cannot stress this enough: be sure to buy Claire's Rodeo Outfit and Moira's Urban Ninja DLCs along with it. They are sexy as hell and make the game a whole lot more fun to play through.
I have been a fan of this series ever since code veronica and this game has to be one of my favorite entries in the series, this game nails the atmosphere and runs at an amazing pace. Replaying this game was a blast and its raid mode just adds on to this amazing game. 10/10
