amazing game. good graphics for 2015, good game mechanics and phisics but i play on normal and its quite hard its better to play with more people
Dying Light is a really good game. I thoroughly enjoy the story and gameplay. Too bad there isn't a sequel.
10 years later and its still a 10/10 for me
the story is decent, the parkour and combat are amazing, the world is awesome, and its all and all impressive and well worth your time.
I Love the story i love kyle crane is my favorite character and i'm wairing to play the beast rate 10/10
Review: Dying Light 1 has been one of the best gaming experiences I've ever had. This game offers a unique combination of action, horror, and parkour skills that keeps you entertained and challenged for hours.
Graphics: The city of Harran is beautifully designed with a lot of details, immersing you in a post-apocalyptic world full of dangers and challenges. The lighting and environmental effects are impressive and effectively convey a scary and tense atmosphere.
Gameplay: The parkour system allows you to move freely within the game environment, escaping from or overcoming zombies. The parkour skills make every moment of the game feel thrilling and full of adrenaline.
Melee combat is also very diverse and engaging. You can use a variety of melee and ranged weapons and also craft different traps and equipment to survive. The variety of enemies is vast, and each type of zombie and dangerous creature attacks you with its own strategies.
Storyline: The storyline is captivating and keeps you engaged until the end of the game. The characters are well-developed, each with their own stories and motivations. The main and side missions are very diverse, each with its own challenges and rewards.
Music and Sound Design: The game's music is very appropriate and in sync with the game's atmosphere, enhancing the feeling of fear and tension. The voice acting of the characters and the zombies is also very realistic and professionally done.
Overall, Dying Light 1 is an unforgettable and exceptional experience that I recommend to every fan of survival horror games. This game combines all the necessary elements for an exciting and adrenaline-packed experience and will keep you entertained for hours.
Beginning as a furtive, desperate survival-horror experience, Dying Light gradually and gratifyingly evolves into a fast, hyper-violent celebration of vertical freedom and zombie destruction. Its main story is unspectacular, but the memorable side quests and sheer fun of exploring its world do a fantastic job of offsetting that, making Dying Light one of the most engrossing open-world games – zombie-infested or otherwise – I've played in a while.
while the story and characters leave a lot to be desired, the actual gameplay is VERY satisfying. the parkour makes exploration actually fun, and the level tree actually makes you feel like you're getting stronger instead of getting silly filler perks. also everyone said this already but you can dropkick zombies 10/10

The game is fun especially with friends. Unfortunately i came across a bug during one of the campaign missions. I got this seizure on my character where it affects its vision and stamina and movement. it is supposed to be temporary but i somehow got it permanently. From what i could find the only fix to this is to redo the mission on the save but i progressed to far into another mission thinking this was part of the game and now nothing i do will fix the permanent seizure. Its a rare bug and sadly has not been fixed i don't know why...
I don't know if it's the best zombie game out there but it still is my favorite after 10 years.
Good Night, Good Luck.
So much fun, but as of right now stuck on first night mission due to the sole fact im too much of a wuss
edit: made it out
If you want some Mirrors Edge in your Dead Island, look no further. On a serious note, this is one of the greatest zombie games ever made, even 10 years later it holds up remarkably. My only regret is not completing the campaign sooner having completed the sequel at release in 2022.
Here's the breakdown of who should dive into Harran and who might want to look elsewhere if you're still on the fence:
Who should play Dying Light:
- Parkour enthusiasts: If you love the idea of fluid movement and mastering a challenging traversal system, Dying Light's parkour is a major selling point. It's not just a gimmick, it's core to the gameplay and incredibly satisfying to pull off.
- Zombie fans with a taste for tension: The day/night cycle is a game-changer. If you enjoy the feeling of dread creeping in as the sun sets and the infected become more aggressive, Dying Light delivers that in spades.
- Players who like a mix of action and survival: It's not pure survival horror, and it's not just mindless action. Dying Light finds a good balance between scavenging, crafting, combat, and tense escapes.
- Those who enjoy open-world exploration: Harran is a big place with lots to discover. If you like exploring and finding hidden secrets, you'll have plenty to do.
- Co-op players: Zombie slaying with friends is always a good time, and Dying Light's co-op mode is exceptional between the campaign, challenges, and more.
Who might want to pass on Dying Light:
- Players who prefer realistic zombie simulations: If you're looking for a game where zombies are slow and easy to dispatch, Dying Light's fast and aggressive infected might not be your cup of tea.
- Those who dislike repetition: Mastering the parkour and surviving the night often requires repeating sections. If you get easily frustrated by this, it could be a turn-off.
- Players who prioritize story above all else: While the story is decent, it's not the main focus. If you need a strong narrative to stay engaged, you might find it lacking.
[*]Those who are easily scared: The nighttime sequences can be genuinely terrifying. If you're not a fan of jump scares and intense situations, you might find it a bit too much.
I can't recommend this game enough, I would sing its praises at full price ($19.99 these days). It is on sale at the time of writing for $5.99. Skip the cup of coffee and spend pick this game up.
The best zombie game of all time, parkour system is great. Upgrades are great, combat is weighty. Still a great game to play in 2025, with so much content, especially if you get the DLC. A must play game.
Game refunded, I just bought it to leave a review and warn everyone that the company is very scummy.
The game bundle with all 27 DLCs used to cost $9.99, but they knew they would get a lot of publicity from the launch of their new game and the 10th anniversary, so they decided to increase the price on December 12, and now it costs over $20... Thanks, but I don’t like it when companies take advantage of their consumers like that.
Seeing how many new buyers there are, their trick sadly worked.
I have done the main story of dying light. Ik it has been over 10 years from dying light's release but it still holds up better then some of the AAA games like call of duty 6. Would reccomend buying/playing it!
Amazing Gameplay
Perfect Voice Actors (Especially Crane Voice Actor His Name" is Roger Carig Smith")
Good Story for a Zombie Game
Best zombie hack and slash ever made.
- Amazing story
- Great graphics
- Fantastic animations
- Best parkour out of any game I've played
This game works perfectly in terms of making you scared and, I hope so, brave also.
I would play it again for psychological gains.
10/10.
On the two occasions that people joined my game, they both gave me a bunch of valuable stuff and the second guy called it Chinese magic, I got scared when he called it that because he summoned 30 pounds of weapons.
Apart from that game is really fun and I like dropkicking
Dying Light is easily a top 3 zombie game of all time. You are rewarded well for all the time you spend in game and the unlocks you make to your character. The story for me was just fine and I really enjoyed who you play and how your alliances are challenged. The ambiance, combat, parkour, everything really works so fluently and is great fun! You can COOP! Huge bonus for allowing me to mess around this fun world with a friend, I did not play the infection hop in/out mode where other players invade your game but that is a neat concept. After 10 years this game continues to see news and small events from the Devs, when you play it you can feel it was made with love and hard work! This game is WORTH FULL PRICE IF NOT DOUBLE! Excellent game!
I am sad to say that Dying Light 2 was a downgrade in comparison. Lots of the existing mechanics from the first game were not well developed for the 2nd game. I had less fun and less investment all together in DL2. I hope to see if there is a Dying Light 3 that more love is put into character choice changing your world/story/replayability.
This is one of the best games I have ever played. I bought it on Steam to support the developers. After some time, I got it for free on EpicGamesStore; but I don't regret buying this game ever. It's a 10/10 for me.
There was a time in my life, where I would just free-roam and parkour in this world (without fighting) to relax. There was no other game that offered such a gameplay at that time.
Dying Light offers a concise, well-crafted experience that blends ARPG and survival horror elements in a way I have never seen a game do before at its time of launch in 2015, and have never seen done quite as well since.
At first, Dying Light is purely a survival horror experience. The player will find themselves incredibly weak, vulnerable, and underpowered in the early game. You climb slow, you get tired quickly, you deal no damage to enemies, and will oft find yourself escaping combat rather than engaging in it. But as the game progresses, both your agility and combat skill trees give benefits and bonuses that are felt immediately each time you purchase a skill. This allows for the player to legitimately feel themselves becoming more competent of a survivor as the game's narrative progresses and they find themselves engaging with its open world. There is no time wasting, bloated content to be found here. Everything compliments each other and directly benefits the player in short bursts to keep pacing enjoyable.
By the time the player reaches the latter half of the story mode, and even engages with the post game content and NG+, you will truly feel like a hardened warrior rather than a ragged survivor. Increased stamina, faster movement, more combat abilities, defensive abilities, etc. all work towards empowering the player in an addictive search for more might. This is when Dying Light truly embraces the fact that it is also an ARPG, and the player has become a night runner capable of destroying the most terrifying and powerful monstrosities that Harran has to offer with relative competency and ease.
This player growth is the beauty of Dying Light. What you can find here is an experience unlike any other survival horror game on the market, because by the end of the player's journey, the enemies become less of an overwhelming threat that should be avoided, and moreso playthings to test out a variety of combat options and abilities. Even the PvP mode allows for players to test just how far they've come as a night runner in Harran against a ruthless "night hunter", the player controlled monstrosity that tests the agility, combat efficiency, and world knowledge of human players. While not entirely well-balanced, there is an absurd amount of depth here that can keep players coming back on both sides of the fight.
A variety of difficulty options also allow for things to stay fresh. Players may be drawn to Hard or Nightmare mode for a first playthrough simply to feel as though the power they acquire feels more earned as a result of a hardened world they struggle through at first, or those craving a power fantasy ARPG experience from the very start may opt for easy mode. There's no right answer here, rather preference for what type of game you feel like playing.
Give it a shot. You won't be disappointed.
This is hands down one of the best zombie games I've ever played.
The setting is incredible, the characters are memorable. And the combat feels good.
Plenty of weapons, abilities, and more than once, I was caught out at night,
took shelter in a home, and thought, I could stay here until morning.
Oddly comfy.
The second game didn't hit the same.
It's just a really fun game. Brutal, bloody and violent. Great story too.
The greatest video game mankind could ever imagine. In a world of gaming where EA, Ubisoft, and Activision are here. Teachland came out of nowhere, just to surprise us with one of the best story games of all time, with 10 years of constant fixes, Techland just proves to people how with consistency comes great results.
The community will always cheer for this game and this company for caring about the gamers.
for 4 hour its worth it for me and the experience is amazing, Maybe im a little bit skill issue that the zombie or the human are to hard to kill
What a great game! i finish both main story and dlc ngl i had not have fun in long time playing games. thank you hope to play this game again in Dying Light 2
i like the bob the builder reference they did when adding hammers into the game
I was unsure about this game, since I generally don't like zombie games, probably because I favour stealth play. But based on the reviews I bought it in the last sale. After 77 hours (including The Following dlc) I must admit that I greatly enjoyed it. The parkour is very well done, as is the single player storyline (the dlc was good too). The need for melee combat is not so high that I was frustrated, and the availability of range weapons and kills such as camoflage & grappling hook meant that I mostly could play along my preferred style. I totally get that some of the aspects that I don't favour (constant gathering of materials & loot, extensive weapon customisation, endless zombies, the occasional "boss" type fight) are there for the probable majority who do. However I am glad that the developers considered my style too.
It looks like there's lots more content than interested me. I briefly looked at the other dlcs & content that came with the definitive edition, including playing as a zombie, many quarantine zones and the highly repetitive Hellraid (which frankly bored me), but only the Harran prison tempted me, but not enough. Going through the story and side-quests was enough for me. I'll look to play the sequel in a few years when the sale price gets low enough for me.
I just finished the game. The game was good, the story was enough to keep me going. From all the positive reviews I was expecting an amazing game but it really was just meh to me. Not bad though.
Biggest gripe I have with it is the amount of glitches I have encountered. For a game that is a decade old plus still getting updates.....that doesnt really make sense.
Overall id give it a 6/10. Worth a play through but no where near an amazing game.
El juego es buenisimo, pero la historia es mas perkin que huevito rey en la carcel siendo lavadora.
A master piece, and never ever throw the Excalibur. it is a reason quit the game.
Best zombie-survival game ever! Period!
+ Zombie theme
+ Soundtracks
+ Visuals
+ DLC's and expansions
+ High replay value
Any negatives? If I really have to mention one, it would be the Story. If you're into stories and lore, this one's a bit meh. But hey! You can dropkick enemies off buildings/cliffs and against spiketraps, so who gives a flying zombie about the story?
9.5/10
Loved this game so much, from the characters, story, game play, style, and all the other bits and pieces that the game added to make the best time you can have. Even if you have watch it from lets plays from creators like Coryxkenshin its still a grab. I only wish the second game could have lived up to its standers. But hopefully the Beast will bring back the joy of playing a game like Dying Light.
i heard about this game before but never tried it when i got it i was so exited played it and enjoyed the story and gameplay
recomended
I am a disgrace to gamers everywhere. It took me until December of 2024 to pick up this game and try it for the first time.
This is legitimately one of the best games I've played in my life. I am utterly addicted to it, I expect to be playing this on repeat for years to come. I can't get enough of it.
It's so much more than just "dead island with mirrors edge parkour" - this game has a soul. Remember when this was the norm? Where you could feel the love and dedication put into it by the devs?
I understand now why this game is often listed as one of the best zombie games ever made. It really is. And it's one of those things where I can't really put my finger on anything specific as to why. It's just a solid cohesive experience. Sure, the story is a bit generic - most zombie stories are, but even then it still manages to pull you in and intrigue you. It makes you feel things about the characters. Also Jade's ass.
Look, as an admitted fanboy of Christ Avellone's products, Techland's decision to boot him from Dying Light 2 over false allegations to avoid a PR debacle may have been the biggest red flag on their current downward slide into just another crap company, but this game is their Mass Effect 2. This game is the game they made before they started going downhill. This is Techland at it's peak. This game will forever live in my heart, and I haven't even finished it yet. It's that good.
I know a masterpiece when I see it. Dying Light 1 is a masterpiece, and it's because the devs poured a part of themselves into this game. Everything works together to form an endearing world.
I honestly cannot think of any legitimate flaws with this game. Sure, I have personal opinions about how something should have been done, but objectively those are preferences, not a flaw on the game's part.
If this changes, I'll update this post, but right now I'm having too much fun playing to see past the honeymoon stage.
I cant stress enough how much dropkick will come in handy to you new players. get it, then level it to dropkick bomb. also don't try to kill volitles early in the game. unlock AS MANY SAFE HOUSES as possible before getting good weapons. coming from a person who completed the game halfway and then got their progress reset this is IMPORTANT TRUST. add me for quick progression anyone.
Dope ass game!!! I've been playing this game for a hot minute and I just love it! This is a game where I can always come back to and play for a little bit to remind me of why I love this game so much! Must buy, S+
Great game and fun to play! Doing all the side quests are worth it the story is amazing!
Dying Light is a fantastic survival horror game with unique parkour mechanics that make exploration a blast. The day-night cycle adds tension, as nighttime brings more dangerous zombies. The combat is satisfying, especially with the variety of weapons and crafting options. The open world is detailed, and the atmosphere is immersive, though the story is a bit weak. Overall, it’s an intense and fun experience, especially for fans of zombie games and parkour action.
9/10
Game is good is what I would say, personally I didn't really care for the movement system as many others and would of liked if it was more focused on combat instead of getting a lot of skills to avoid zombies.
I wouldn't say the story is very good and the quests are also kinda meh because there are a lot of fetch quests but overall I still had fun because the rest of the game is decent even if the game also has some bugs especially if you play coop.
For the price this game usually goes on sale nowadays with all the dlc it's still a huge steal and if you like moving around maps in games with style and looting this game is worth your while.
Buy the game for long time ago but just playing the game now, and it was great zombie game, you can survive, crafting, playing with friends, enjoy the story or anything, you can just hitting the zombie using tools or just kick his ass :)) great zombie game with good graphics and urban planning, and better while youre using headset make audio more realistic and you can feels the ambient and zombie around you.
Was a very interesting game to play... enjoyed a lot with my friends and did a lot of progress.
There's a great game in here, somewhere. It doesn't show itself very often, and you only ever catch faint glimpses.
The game is centered around parkour. You move quickly, climb quickly. The open world isn't one you learn intimately and by the end know like the back of your hand, it's designed to be quickly ran through, improvising routes, escaping from a mob, diving into combat.
The zombies in this game are more akin to the kind you'd see in a survival horror game, spongey, take lots of hits. Often its better to avoid fighting, giving just a whack to get some out of your way. It's intense, makes you feel like you're scraping about, desperate to survive. Often you need to rely on tools to deal with larger groups, forming clever solutions that don't just boil down to "whack the zombies in the head". And they're relentless, some chasing you across buildings, giving the parkour and navigation more engagement. You often find yourself suddenly mobbed by zombies, and need to quickly execute an escape using the environment. It's engaging stuff.
This is the relationship you form with the zombies and parkour in the *open world*, in the campaign, things are different. Often you're thrown into mandatory combat encounters, wave sections, "clear this big group of zombies" sections, yet they're still designed like survival horror enemies, still so spongey, still so relentless, yet you're forced to fight them head on, which is how you get yourself killed out in the open world. A core element of the game is being diminished by the main storyline. The navigation isn't present either, lots of main missions locking you into small corridors with no room to manoeuvre, another core element diminished in the games own campaign.
The day night cycle is another disappointment. The tag line of the game is "good night, good luck". So much of the promo material is centered around night time, the heightened danger, the mechanics surrounding pursuits, it all seems so interesting, so dynamic. In reality, days last far too long and nights vanish after a chase or two. And even then, there's always a safe house nearby so you're extremely unlikely to be caught out at night. Time management simply isn't a concern in this game, but I really wanted it to be. Still, the mere presence of the day night cycle is appreciated. Simply knowing that daytime isn't infinite is enough to make me not want to dilly dally, and makes sure I don't let up the games brisk pace. I just wish it tightened that grip.
It's like the main story doesn't realise it has these amazing elements to work with, so it doesn't. Either that or it doesn't care, deciding instead to be something far more simple, linear, safe and basic. Not only that, but crap. Crap design, crap encounters, crap story, crap motivation, the elements of the open world are wrangled, stretched and mutilated to fit the stupid designs of the main story, the result is often frustrating, sometimes infuriating, and always disappointing. It often feels like wading through garbage.
It's surprising that people consider this game SO much better than Dead Island, when to me, the main story missions of this game tend to feel like Dead Island at its absolute worst. Dead Island was a fun game about exploration and action. This is a confused game that wants to be about parkour and survival, but it doesn't know what to do with all these elements.
I could see the building blocks of this game being taken and used to build a much better game. The brisk parkour, the survival horror like relationship you have with the zombies, less daytime, harder to avoid nighttime, more incentive to go out at night, reliance on tools rather than brute force, it could all come together into a unique, emergent, fast paced survival horror game built around parkour. What we're left with is the potential of that, and the realities of designers who couldn't care less about building a game to take advantage of its own core elements. All these brilliant elements, but the game has the sensibilities of an idiot.
Basically king von gunning down his opps from 63d. In other words juice world taking percs. Great game buy it
Probably the best zombie survival game out there and the fact that it's 10 years old is insanity.
Main Campaign is some of the most fun i have had in an open world game, night time is actually scary unlike DL2.
Bozak Horde, this mode is okay, it's just you going through trials and whatever Bozak wants you to do or whatever, decent mode.
"The Following" is the 2nd part to the campaign, it's pretty good i'd say, new buggy, map, characters and all your loot carries over.
Hellraid, ngl this game mode kinda sucks, very repetitive and it's extremely short, i'm talking 30 min and on Nightmare (for me at least), such a poorly executed game mode.
Other that that for 19.99 or even 3.99 when it routinely goes on sale, you won't be disappointed with your purchase.
9/10, such a classic.
Only 3 hours in at the moment of writing this, and I gotta say that this game is AMAZING. The story is good and not too slow, the graphics are amazing and the parkour is just extremely well made!
I would recommend this game 10 thousand times even if it wasn't on sale, so why wait? Go ahead and buy it, if you regret it feel free to reply to this review with an angry comment (will not happen)
Ps: 10 hours in, my opinion still stands as strong as concrete
One of the best. Still better than second part, and probably gonna be better then third.
A Pulse-Pounding Zombie Apocalypse
I just spent the last 37 hours playing Dying Light 1, and I'm still reeling from the experience. This game has left me breathless, frustrated, and eager for more.
From the moment I dropped into the zombie-infested city of Harran, I knew I was in for a wild ride. The parkour mechanics are incredibly fluid, making navigation a thrill. I found myself leaping across rooftops, sprinting through alleys, and scaling walls with ease.
But it's not all about the speed and agility – the combat is where Dying Light 1 truly shines. The melee system is brutal and satisfying, with each swing of my trusty baseball bat feeling like a desperate bid for survival. And let me tell you, those zombies can be relentless.
The atmosphere is tense and foreboding, with a dynamic day-night cycle that adds an extra layer of complexity to the gameplay. I found myself adapting my tactics to suit the time of day, using the shadows to my advantage and avoiding the hordes of undead that roam the streets at night.
The game's world is richly detailed, with a variety of environments to explore and scavenge for supplies. I loved uncovering hidden caches of loot and crafting new equipment to aid me in my survival.
Overall, I'm thoroughly impressed with Dying Light 1. It's a game that will keep you on the edge of your seat, test your skills, and leave you begging for more.
If you're a fan of action-adventure games, survival horror, or just want to experience something new and exciting, do yourself a favour and pick up Dying Light 1.
