Counter-Strike.

Drop in drop out. Game has ton of replay value. Each play through is different here and there. Tons of content and mods from workshop.
Classic experience that has carried over to the likes of vermintide. stands up extremely well in todays market. great voice acting, lore, story, zombies, gunplay. also the moddings insane.
es un juego bastante entretenido con su gran variedad de modalidades y que le puedas meter mods lo hace increible
great game, ellis is funny and yes i turned the hunter into senator armstrong from metal gear rising cause the hunter has a dream!
The single player and co-op modes are fun, the PvE modes are ass since the game is filled with hackers.
You can get a day's worth of fun, then the game becomes extremely repetitive (and annoying too, it gets old after the third match against hackers).
Another con of the game: the player base is more toxic than a nuclear wasteland.
This game is worth it and the mods in the workshop make the game even more fun to play.
If you need a game on Steam you can play with your friends, this is arguably the best game for that. Good amount of enemy variety, fun weapons to play with, thrilling campaigns, and the most flexible and amazing modding/Workshop support I seen out of perhaps any game ever. Especially for a game that had PvE game modes in mind before being a sandbox-type of an experience!
Very fun, and would even go out to say the best zombie game out there next to DeadRising. The characters, the story, the different types of zombies, the weaponry, and just about everything else about this game ensnared me as a kid, and still holds up to this day. With steam + workshop it makes it very easy to mod and makes the game so much better, more fun, and hilarious. Who doesn't want to be chased by a horde of monkey zombies, or Zoidberg zombies? 10/10 game.
its been a year since i started playing this and honestly its still the best zombie game ive ever played tho i havent played a ton of zombie games so there could be better one out there but i definitely think this one of the best one teaming up with friends and using community mods while going through the vanilla campaign and add-ons is just a blast theres so much to offer in this game near end of 2024 im still totally hooked it just a great game overall im my opinion ^^ *wink*
Following the success of the first Left 4 Dead, Valve decided not to rest on their laurels, and soon after released its sequel; aptly named Left 4 Dead 2. Although uncharacteristic for Valve, as they usually take ungodly amounts of time for any sequel, this new entry was welcomed with open arms. L4D2 follows the same formula as its predecessor; a team of four survivors who have to shoot/melee their way through levels to reach safehouses and extraction points. Cooperation and communication are paramount; teammates must cover and help each other survive against the zombie onslaught. And this formula creates some of the most exhilarating co-op moments in gaming, with practically infinite replayability due to "the Director", who controls the enemy AI encounters and countless other different variables.
The core gameplay is quite similar to the first but L4D2 adds 5 fresh campaigns, set in the southeastern USA, with more interesting level design and set pieces, and a more cohesive and encompassing story than L4D. The levels seem a lot brighter in general than the darker atmosphere found in the original campaigns. It introduces 4 new survivor characters, who appear to have a slightly more lighthearted take on the apocalypse, with a lot more humorous conversations and one-liners. There are also new special infected to contend with, as well as increased zombie hordes. New firearms and melee weapons up the carnage and variety of ways to dispose of zombies.
L4D2 is an improvement in nearly all aspects, and carries on the tried and true co-op formula. A later update even added ALL the original L4D content, so there isn't much reason to go back to the first game anymore. To this day the online multiplayer is well populated and remains one of the most played games on Steam. L4D2 continues to cement itself as one of the great gaming experiences of our time.
You can say so many loud words about this game, you can choose so many magnificent, not even afraid of this word - heroic - epithets, but even this will not be enough to describe the incredible experience that you live inside this masterpiece.
Left 4 Dead 2 is a masterpiece of the game industry. Art in its purest form;
An example for all the greedy corporations that have long forgotten (or maybe never knew) what it means to develop games with love.
Fun, loads of content + replayability and mod support. (Also great characters, I was Ellis this Halloween)
This game is great, community can be a bit toxic sometimes. But it's pretty fun overall
Best co-op shooter period, nothing comes close. Characters, the story the world everything is just amazing. plus in traditional valve fashion modding scene is great, come on i can throw a chicken pipe bomb to distract a bunch of fall guys what other game lets you do that? Not back 4 blood thats for sure. buy it now, its constantly on sale for a $1 just buy it and even when its not on sale $10 is killer for this game just buy it now.
Zombie apocalypse. It's all serious (I'm sitting here serious too). There shouldn't be any jokes (yeah, yeah) but then Boomer puked on me to the song "Mr. Boombastic" and then Charger to the song "The Time Is Now" threw me off the hotel along with himself and then I fell out of my chair (Not from fear - from laughter)
L4d2 is the reason I started playing shooter games. I only played Everquest type games before. I've tried other zombie games but always come back to L4d2. It has the best mod community that keeps the game fresh and replayable. Valve really made a gem with this one!
The community is highly toxic especially in versus which is no surprise. But the game is still fun as long as it's played with friends.
I've been playing this game ever since it came out in '09 and its still fun to this day. Even restarting with a whole new account the action and unique zombies never bore me. Shooting helps with hand eye coordination but I don't have to kill people, just zombies. The special infected are very creative, as well as the detail in the maps and story. All around a real mind pleasing fun time for all ages [if you're not scared of zombies]
Really fun game, worth the money, endless content to go through and play with the Workshop 10/10
A timeless classic!
It is a very simplistic Co-Op Shooter, especially compared to modern titles, but that fact only serves in L4D2 favor.
There is very little standing between you and the Running and Gunning:
no Unnecessary progression system to keep you artificially hooked
no useless weapon skins and other fluff
Only you, up to 3 friends, your guns and a hoard of Zombies in your way.
Through its simplicity, the game does very little wrong and has allowed it to age this well.
Give it a shot, even 15 years (!!!! what the FUCK !!!!) later
This game is great i used to play it when i was younger and playing it now it just brings back so many memories its not even funny i just wish valve would make a remake or a more updated version of this game to really drive it home but overall this game is amazing would love to see new people try it.
When activas todos los generadores y subes al puente para escapar en el velero: <3. But se descompone uno y aparecen 3 tanks: :,V
A classic and never gets old with the custom content & campaigns added through the Steam Workshop.
i kill zombie, zombie come back bigger, zombie slam me into wall, zombie spit on me.
It may get repetitive some time but it's no worry because we have the workshop and mods that make the game more fun to play, highly recommend it!
Only issue: The firing sound is too loud and interferes with all other sounds. Other than that, nothing to say, anybody who knows what Steam is knows this game way back. I recommend playing multiplayer only with this game, the bots are just mannequins basically.
Left 4 dead 2 is a amazing game and with mods it just becomes funny as hell
This game just ages like a fine wine. It's also the type of game that you won't get tired or bored playing over and over again - it's just that good. As per the date/time I'm making this review, the game reaches its 15th anniversary this year 2024 and it never did lose its charm. For this game this old, you gotta give the credit to Valve for this. More importantly, L4D2 is a class of its own and to call it a masterpiece is an understatement.
I won't find myself stopping playing campaigns with my solid teammates anytime soon. So you zombies out there, you better watch out. Bullets coming your way!
10/10
Who does not like killing waves of zombies and feeling badass while doing it? Plus its in the style of movie!
My all time favorite game. ive been playing left 4 dead 2 for YEARS and it has never gotten dull or boring. i love playing this game with my friends
played this game for 15 years ignore the 46 hours i bought it on steam when my xbox finally died this is arguably the best zombie game of all time
This is one of the greatest games of all time in my opinion. The gameplay is very simple to learn, and satisfying to master, the characters are all likable, and the infected are so unique that it spins the game in a way to make each session different from each other.
10/10
I love this game for it's moddability. I also don't care if extraction shooter means specifically tarkov-likes because this games format is the same as GTFOs and DRGs, and this format is about doing objectives until you reach a climax: The extraction. this is an extraction shooter. (according to me, anyway) "but jerr u got way more playtime in drg, why do "- why, because i can this game resemble halo, dear voice in my head. that's why this is still one of the best games.
Good classic zombie game, more fun with mods customizing the zombie AI to something wild like Shrek as a charger.
It's a great game very fun with friends and using workshop makes it that much better

Increasingly unplayable due to servers being compromised... :/
Would recommend it to anyone looking to play a zombie game.
It is one of the best surviving zombie co-op games available on steam.
Also comes with a large pool of mods under the steam community workshop to make it even more interesting.
Picture this,
It is 7 PM on a tuesday. and you had the most stressful day of the month. You sit, log on steam, open left 4 dead two, and choose to fight a horde of teletubbies while welding not only a diamond sword, but Doomslayer's shotgun, all while playing as peter griffin, with goku, masterchief, and barney the dinosaur by your side; all while you down cheese burgers, covid shots, throwing Mario 64 toads to lure the teletubbies away, and you use a baja blast sponsored chest paddles to revive goku, all while releasing lead at the grandma from Coco.

A Comprehensive Review of Left 4 Dead 2: Why It Missed the Mark for Me
When Left 4 Dead 2 was released in 2009, it quickly garnered a dedicated fanbase and became a staple in cooperative gaming. Celebrated for its intense gameplay, diverse campaigns, and engaging multiplayer modes, it has been a favorite among fans of the zombie genre. However, my experience with Left 4 Dead 2 has led me to view it as a fundamentally flawed title that, despite its popularity, ultimately left me feeling unsatisfied. Here’s a detailed breakdown of why I find Left 4 Dead 2 to be a disappointing experience.
Overreliance on Formulaic Gameplay
One of the most significant issues with Left 4 Dead 2 is its reliance on a repetitive formula. While the game aims to create tension and excitement through intense firefights and horde encounters, it often devolves into a cycle of predictable gameplay. Players rush through levels, blasting zombies while waiting for the next scripted event. The lack of variation in objectives makes each campaign feel like a rehash of the previous one, leading to a sense of monotony that quickly sets in.
Limited Storytelling and Character Development
Another critical aspect where Left 4 Dead 2 falls short is its storytelling. While it attempts to create a narrative through its campaigns, the plot is minimal at best. The characters are mostly one-dimensional, lacking the depth that could have made their struggles more relatable or engaging. Each survivor has a unique background, but the game provides little in terms of character development or meaningful interactions. This lack of narrative engagement can make it hard for players to feel invested in the characters' fates, diminishing the emotional stakes during gameplay.
Frustrating AI Behavior
The artificial intelligence (AI) in Left 4 Dead 2 can be both a blessing and a curse. While the game allows for single-player mode with AI-controlled teammates, their behavior often borders on frustrating. They occasionally fail to revive fallen teammates promptly, can get stuck on environmental obstacles, and sometimes prioritize healing themselves over helping others. This unpredictability can turn tense situations into infuriating experiences, especially when relying on AI in the absence of cooperative players.
Imbalanced Difficulty Levels
Left 4 Dead 2 features various difficulty settings, but the balance between them often feels skewed. The jump from one level to another can be jarring; what feels manageable on Normal difficulty can quickly become overwhelming on Advanced. The game attempts to ramp up the challenge by throwing hordes of zombies at you, but this can feel less like a fair challenge and more like a punitive exercise in frustration. Players who enjoy a balanced, progressive difficulty curve may find themselves disappointed by the uneven nature of the gameplay.
Overly Punishing Gameplay Mechanics
The game’s mechanics can often feel punishing, particularly when it comes to special infected. While these unique enemies add variety, their sudden appearances can be jarring and often lead to instant failures, especially for newer players. The pressure to coordinate with teammates can become overwhelming, especially when surrounded by a seemingly endless wave of zombies. This design choice detracts from the fun and camaraderie that cooperative gameplay should foster, instead creating a stressful atmosphere that discourages casual play.
Lack of Innovation in Sequel
As a sequel, Left 4 Dead 2 had the potential to build upon its predecessor in meaningful ways. However, many players found that it felt like an expansion rather than a true sequel. While new campaigns, weapons, and special infected were introduced, the core gameplay loop remained largely unchanged. This lack of innovation can make the game feel stale, especially for those who invested significant time into the original Left 4 Dead.
Inconsistent Multiplayer Experience
The multiplayer aspect of Left 4 Dead 2 is often touted as one of its strengths, yet my experience has been far less favorable. The game's matchmaking can be hit or miss, leading to sessions with uncoordinated teams or players who lack basic understanding of the game mechanics. While a well-coordinated team can lead to thrilling gameplay, the opposite scenario often results in frustration and a sense of helplessness. Additionally, the lack of dedicated servers can lead to unstable connections and lag, further detracting from the overall experience.
Toxic Community
Like many online multiplayer games, Left 4 Dead 2 has a community that can be both a blessing and a curse. While there are certainly friendly and helpful players, I often encountered toxicity, with some players being quick to criticize or insult others for perceived mistakes. This negativity can create an unwelcoming atmosphere, particularly for newcomers trying to learn the ropes. Gaming should be a space for enjoyment and camaraderie, but the toxicity present in some matches can sour the experience significantly.
Graphics and Sound Design
While Left 4 Dead 2 was visually impressive for its time, its graphics have not aged well in comparison to newer titles. The environments can feel somewhat repetitive, lacking the detail and immersion found in contemporary games. Similarly, while the sound design features some great voice acting and atmospheric effects, it can also lead to issues with audio cues becoming lost amidst the chaos of battle. Players may find themselves struggling to hear important calls for help or warnings about approaching threats.
Conclusion
In conclusion, Left 4 Dead 2 had the potential to be a standout title in the cooperative gaming genre, but its flaws ultimately detracted from my experience. The overreliance on repetitive gameplay, lack of character depth, frustrating AI, imbalanced difficulty, punishing mechanics, and an inconsistent multiplayer experience all contributed to my disappointment. While many players have cherished their time in the game, my personal experience has led me to view it as a missed opportunity for innovation and storytelling. I walked away feeling that the game failed to deliver the immersive, cooperative experience that it promised, leaving me unlikely to return for another playthrough.
After just about 4 hours of playing this game I can confirm that this game with mods makes it funny instead of a badass zombie killing game.
A timeless classic. Online versus is a real cesspool but playing with your friends is well worth it. I will be toxic.
Community is really nice. Literally have had no bad experiences with this game.
Except when for some reason local hosting breaks and I have to go to the discussions tab to fix it.
this game is really. but you can make things better with funny mods on the workshop
its fun easy to mod and has funny moments it more kill less scare its one hellova good game
When I first played this game on the Xbox 360, I used to play with my cousin a lot. We would always play expert realism and have a fun time just trying to survive a single campaign and we ended up 100% our achievements, but we noticed that it started to get a little bit boring. Years later, I saw this game on sale on steam and encouraged him to buy this and we were not disappointed. The game has more content and has infinite replayability. I would totally recommend this game for new players if your looking for something fun to play in your spare time.
I only started playing this game in August of 2024, and it is amazing in its gameplay, mechanics, pacing, and emphasis on teamwork. It felt great to beat a campaign and i never felt cheated if i lost. Despite being over 15 years old, almost as old as I am, it is still a masterpiece of a game made by Valve. Also I got the TF2 reference dialogue from Ellis while playing Dark Carnival, it was a neat touch.
very fun gets so good with mods litterly can make your game either better or weirder or both
i hope one day valve remaster or remake this game its so fun. but now the server are infested with mods and try hards
This game will never be die unless there's L4D3. 10/10 One of the best games in Valve Collection
