The few times this game is fun are not worth the amount of times it makes you want to pull your hair out.
I went into this game open-minded, even though I heard it's not really good. But sadly, I gotta agree. There is a lot of content, don't get me wrong, but the thing is, none of it is really well made. I appreciate the concept of telling one huge story over the course of multiple campaigns. Sadly, none of them are really fun to play.
Leon's is by far the best since you mostly fight zombies and some B.O.W.s, and you can utilize the one thing I really like about this game: the melee combat system. That's the one thing they really made better compared to RE5. Sadly, it doesn't get used much since, in all the other three campaigns, you mostly fight enemies with guns, making melee ineffective.
The only other time the melee system is useful is in the Mercenaries mode, which I actually quite like. It almost feels like the system was designed with this game mode in mind. The last thing I find good is the ranking system with medals and titles. You get them for almost everything, and you can spend a lot of time collecting them all. I didn’t do that, though.
Now, let's move on to the things I find really unfun and bad in this game. First of all: quick-time events. So many quick-time events. And you can't even turn them off. There’s also a lot of fake gameplay where you just hold a direction key, and your character does the rest.
The chapters are way too long for the most part, each of them taking around an hour. The graphics seem almost like the most downgraded thing compared to RE5, even on PC with max settings. Speaking of settings, the in-game settings menu is just horrendous, and whoever came up with the idea of it being different for each character along with their HUD should not be designing games for a living. There are more things I really don't like, but you get the idea.
Overall, the game is not really worth it in my opinion. If you care about the story, you should just watch someone else play it, to be honest. I can see some value in the Mercenaries mode and the potential of playing it co-op with a friend. In that case, thankfully, it goes on sale quite often, so you can and should get it for no more than 5 euros.
The game not that bad but it lacks the actual Resident evil atmosphere that most of them has. It’s not really scary and it’s more action driven more than anything else. The story pretty good, I have played this game several times on my Xbox 360 so now I came to the PC version to enjoy it once again
And it looks like barely anyone plays this game at all. Def not easy finding another lobby with another player and the DLC for the game is strictly for online purposes except for Mercenaries mode otherwise the game is mediocre at its best. Love the characters that are introduced backed into the game like Leon, Ada, Chis and Sherry
this game is the definition of ass, it is a complete downgrade from re5 in every regard, just save yourself the time, money, and mental anguish. the movement is so stiff and annoying, the story is nothing special, and last but not least THERE'S NO REPLAY VALUE, you get perks instead of upgrading guns BUT THE PERKS DON'T MAKE A FUCKING DIFFERENCE. please just skip this game, it has nothing to do with 7 or 8 so just play those and skip this garbage.
Game in ridiculous, story makes no seance, pacing is terrible, no survival horror to be found..... I loved every minuet of it
get a friend and turn your brain off, its time to RKO some zombies
At first this game's UI really annoyed me, but i did get used to it. I played it with my sister, and it's definitely a lot of fun with a partner! There are some tedious parts, especially if you're using a keyboard, but still fun overall.
It isn't scary, if that's what you're looking for; there's a lot of over-the-top action just like RE5. But it's good for what it is, and I like the multiple overlapping campaigns and mercenaries mode. I liked seeing everyone's story .
It just feels janky? Not sure how to explain it, but I don't like this game as much as RE5 despite them being fairly similar gameplay wise.
I'm unwilling to play this game, and that's enough of a reason to not recommend it. Hopefully in a few years they remake this, 4 campaigns sounds awesome but I simply can't tolerate the gameplay.
Edit: It's not as bad as I described it, but it's still fairly rough and I wouldn't recommend it. Mostly playing it so I can finish all the stories out of habit.
I played this game with a good friend of mine. We both hated it. This is genuinely the worst game in the franchise and one of the worst co-op games ever made, but it was still fun. Our games weren't synced right so sometimes, during QTE sections, we'd just immediately die before we could react.
None of the four campaigns had any tension whatsoever. There was one section in the final campaign where an enemy charged through a fall that made us jump, but that's it. In the same campaign, there was one "boss fight" (I use that word loosely) that was somewhat creative. This game expects you to not know how to play games, so the only thing you do the entire time is move forward and shoot at things. Somehow, if you're with a friend, it's fun.
It's a game.
It was... a game. The co-op was ok. Networking issues made some sequences really trash and we died a TON. But it was a game.
So awful that it loops around to being good again and it runs surprisingly good for being so old
This is the funniest game I've ever played, it's ridiculous and stupid as fuck in the best way possible. It is extremely entertaining in co-op.
People say its bad because its too much action for RE but this is the most fun I've had playing a RE game.
Most underrated RE game . yeah the story kinda meh but it had fun coop and 4 capmgains sooo mannyyy good mini games and the multiplayer wasss sooooo gooooooodddd (also there is l4d2 characters so 10/10 game)
A good resident evil game.
First of all, I really loved that Capcom brought old character as a grown up. It was cool to see that. In every game before, there was a single group of characters from one part and not the other but they included many group of characters and merged them in a single event this time, I really liked that. Playing the events of story from the side of each character gave a sense of immersion into the story events.
The game mechanics were not that bad as people make it out to be. The visuals and graphics are good for a game of that time. I do agree though, there were too many action sequences but it was tolerable and even enjoyable sometimes.
I don't know why people complain about the game length. I know its long but I am okay with it. Since I always go for 100% completion, I have no problems with it but I can understand why people may get bored. So for the people who are into short game time, I won't recommend it. You need a good chunk of time for this game.
And the game often goes on sale, so its a great deal for the money you pay. Specially with the amount of content you get and the modes you can play with the DLCs.
All over, a good game to invest your time into. I highly recommend it to other people who are delving into the Resident Evil universe for the first time. It is fun and helps with the lore of the RE universe.
I rarely post negative reviews, but this so happens to be the first, quite ironic. I can see why this game is labeled as the worst in the franchise. Not only do I see that it doesn't feel like a Resident Evil game, but it's also incredibly annoying. Words cannot describe how many times I've died to stupid shit in these campaigns. Each one seems to have that one part were I die the most. Also, the elephant in the room, the explosions. Good God Almighty, this game has too much explosions lmao. I honestly tried to give this game a chance, seeing if there was some good in it but I can't. There were a few diamonds in the rough, but unfortunately, all the stuff I like is overshadowed by the things I didn't like. Out of the games I've played over the years since 2020, this is now my least favorite entry and is one of the worst games I've ever played. If you're curious checking it out, please don't. This thing is aggravating and it's best for newcomers to not really play this one. you can say I was just bad at this, play it yourself and then we'll talk. I'm calling it quits with this game right now, and I don't wanna keep continuing to suffer through this even more as of right now.
Not as good as 5, but still pretty fun if you have a second player. It's a real shame the RE series has abandoned the idea of Co-op.
Personally it isn't for me, I had other RE games and I didnt exactly enjoyed it since its more of an action based game rather than a lore and horror based one. Esp with Leon's campaign- at first I enjoyed it but eventually I got bored mid game, and the other campaigns were better but still kinda sad that they had less lore aspects but the fight scenes were cool
as much as i loved the game mechanics it was pretty frustrating for me to save my data- that sometimes I had to power through until there's a save ( ik its an old game and but cmon im allowed to speak my thoughts)
Awesome game with fun combat and great characters. It's interesting how different character stories overlap each other and you get to know what was going on from their perspective. Achievements could be better, but the overall experience is still great. 10/10!
Great game, I don't get the hate for it, sure it's more action-y , and imo the only scary parts were most of the Leon's campaign and parts of Jake's with Ustanak. But the gameplay is fun as hell, it's smooth it feels great, it looks pretty, it's amazing 10/10!
Now looking at it from the achievement side of view it was a typical Capcom classic where the achievement are just annoying needing to grind them (Looking at you, "Civilian Casualties" & "Take 'Em All Down").
To conclude , minus the DLC achievements, and overall achievements, it's a great game, especially since I played it with my friend, it was fun! 10/10
bought this game over a decade with my friend, we used to roleplay and we had hella fun. miss those great times
Jogo ruim demais, jesus cristo. O resident evil 5, do lado desse aí, é o melhor jogo já criado, ah joguinho miserável.
This is the worst resident evil game I ever played. I skipped it a long time ago because people said it didnt contriute to the story and that it was horrible. Well I decided to see for myself and man were they right. I finished leons campaign which was mediocre at best in 2 hours. then you have to complete the other 3 campaigns which are just different perspectives of the same conclusion which is so lazy. At the end of Chris campaign when your running on the platforms is literally impossible. the camera turns around the controls flip randomly and then you stop running. This game is a disgrace! 0/10 dont buy it just watch a playthorugh to know what happens!
How did they make it this bad... Leon was performing RKO on zeds like Randy Orton xd.
And the story? Leon's was a bit interesting (If I don't count the President's death. No one realy cared about that... Hunnigan suprised a bit, other than that they just ignored it. Which was realy strange.)
Other character's stories bore me a bit :/
And the mechanics and combat: I just didn't like it...
Shortly, it was a disappointment... No wonder they call it the worst game of franchise.
(Why I recommended it? Beacuse I don't like giving negative reviews and played 42h so...)
shit game
door cutscenes happen every second
partner ai is terrible
puzzles are shit
chris' campaign limits ammo when its a fucking action game
A game I disliked on release but grew very fond of over time. Despite hectic storytelling and major emphasis on action as opposed to atmosphere and horror, 6 is still a Resident Evil game through and through.
While peak games of this series are akin to well-made B-movies, RE6 is like a balls-to-the-wall action anime that takes itself very seriously and tries to stay somewhat grounded. And that's charming, even more so now as the franchise steered its way back to horror roots, leaving 6 as more of an outlier among mainline titles. It's dramatic, well-acted, long, and awesome. A great wrap-up for a second trilogy of games.
Doesn't hurt that it also looks decent, plays great, and has a full set of additional fun features such as invasions (Agent Hunt), series' best Mercenaries mode implementation, and immortal co-op that can be played offline in split-screen.
<3
Nothing in this game makes sense. The sudden setting changes from China to Europe, the inventory and healing system, that weird lab section with the lava in Sherry's campaign and ESPECIALLY the fact that Leon is still trusted to maneuver a vehicle (he's crashed every car he's been in does he even have a license???). Even so, I love this game and how stupid it is<3<3<3.
Definitely play with a friend though...
In my opinion one of the worst resident evil games ever. Fun to play with a friend but even then it still barely holds up. Nothing compelling in the slightest story-wise and holds no canonical value towards the Resident Evil/Umbrella lore. Ridden with bugs that completely break the game which in turn stops you from completing a chapter because you either keep getting an error code then game crashes or you literally can't even go through a damn door which is open on your friends screen but not yours... But hey in the Ada campaign there was a slide you could press A on and actually slide down so that's pretty cool, almost cool enough to give me the urge to rate this game positive. Almost.
As long as you're not paying attention to the story because its pretty garbage, its really fun. Especially the combat mechanic. + its multiplayer so infinite replayability and lets not forget about mercenaries
Does it have a good story for a Resident Evil Game? No, not reallyy..
But is it the most fun and engaging coop game ever?! ABSO-FRICKIN-LUTELY!
I don't know why people thought this was a bad game back then Comparing it to the Woke garbage they make these days this is a amazing game with fun gameplay and one of the best campaign co-ops I have ever played and the Girls are the hottest in this game and the dudes of course
Not typically the survival horror game, but I really enjoyed the action and combat. Not bad for resident evil game.
The only reason im NOT giving this game the thumbs down is because the combat mechanics carries the game on its back. Arguably 2nd to none in the series aside from maybe RE4R. Of course, that's if you prefer combat in your Resident Evil game...
Runs great on Steam Deck!
This game gets a lot of hate from ding dongs, but it's really good. I had it on xbox, and bought it again on Steam for the replayability of Mercenaries: No Mercy Mode.
Online can be a ghost town, but feel free to invite me for some Mercenaries!
The 5 minutes of gameplay between 12 hour cut-scenes are pretty good if you've never played video games before and have no self respect.
Hilariously over the top, horror has been thrown out of the window. Completely unlike the rest of the series in almost every way. Honestly, it's overhated. Especially if you play this with friends (couch co-op or online), it's a blast. Just think of it as a crazy over the top campaign game made for co-op play, don't expect survival horror cause it's the farthest thing from it. Also, love to see the Serbian language put in a game from such a big series.
Живела Србија!!!
one of the best coop games and a great resident evil game despite how it bombed years ago its still a great fuckin game and over the years i keep coming back to it cause its a damn good game
The first Resident Evil game i have ever played. Fun for most part, but the camera work sucks. It's so disorienting, it keeps changing angles for no reason.
All in all, it's great, not even half as bad as people are saying on forums or review. The stories are generally fun. Especially when one campaign intersects with another. It makes replaying feels more enjoyable.
Last but not least, Ada Wong is one of the most gorgeous female character ever made. period.
I tried to enjoy this but... Controls, movement, enemies are just the worst, 80% of times you gonna be fighting the game itself and enemies are just piss on this pile of shit. Random bullshit will happen and you just gonna sit utterly baffled. Even coop playthrough did not made this any more bearable.
Not for PC
+:
structure of the game is nice and was new at this time.
Jake has so nice moves.
I joined only the Ada story of the campaign mode.
You can achieve new skins and find new hidden bosse in Mercenaries mode via the webpage RE6.
-:
It is too much action for Resident Evil.
At Mercenaries, it is easy to collect multiple seconds with incendiary grenade and melee. It is unrealistic.
On highest difficulty, you just need to end the last part to win the chapter.
DLC: Siege Mode achievements are very bad. The keyboard / controller actions has to do with a lot of luck.
Diffrent versions of the game version 1.0.6 and 1.1.0
Geographical differences in modus mercenaries
Who the f**k made this and thought "yep that's a game"!?!? The game-play is not easy, which makes it less fun than previous Resident Evil titles, it's also way too dark, and Helena is useless...unless you play co-op. I am marking this as 'Don't recommend', but that is mostly for the issues mentioned above, otherwise I would have marked it as 'neutral'. Because Resident Evil 6 isn't a terrible game, but it falls because of the mechanics. Even RE5 is more of an enjoyable Resident Evil experience, this is hard to get through.
This is, by far, the worst Resident Evil experience I have ever had.
The story is absolute bunk and nonsensical unless you find every hidden emblem to unlock files that explain what the story is actually about.
The story boils down to a mad simp who creates a clone of his waifu that wants to destroy the world so SHE could be receive the love of said simp. I hate this asinine game.
The entire last campaign was single-player, when the previous 15 hours of campaign were meant to be co-op. I'm not upset that the co-op was shoehorned in a later patch. They did the best they could. I AM mad they decided to make a single-player ONLY campaign after having 80-90% of the game requiring cooperation. It's such bad design. I believe that they added Ada's later in production to make sense of this utter nonsense.
The Skill Point system cost is too grindy and detrimental to the gameplay. Many, many times I need ammo or healing and when I open 3-4 boxes or kill 3-4 enemies, I get 150-300 skill points and 15 9mm ammo. The worst part is that every skill after the first upgrade costs 10000+ points, so I would need to receive a MINIMUM of 100 drops to afford a level 2 upgrade. The good skills cost upwards of 50000! I know Mercenaries Mode is a good way to grind, but I refuse to put any more hours into this dogshit game to grind out stupidly expensive skills.
Also, most of the skills are worthless in co-op! You can complete the game with 4 skills: Defense, Firearm, and Javo/Zombie Killer skill (depending on the campaign). Every other skill I tried was worthless in co op. I did not play any campaign single-player so those single player only skills may be use.
I wasted 20 hours of my life playing this so I can get to Resident Evil 7. Heed my warning and only get this game if you have a friend you want to suffer with. There's a reason this game almost killed Capcom. The only positive thing about this game is its abject critical failure led to the current Capcom Renaissance we are experiencing now.
"The total horror experience". A terrible game but has to be seen to be believed. This was the AAA gaming industry at its bloated worst for the time. Still, fun with a friend in co-op.
Resident Evil 6 was... disappointing. It's regarded as the worst game in the franchise and for good reason. The storyline was all over the place, and it barely had the survival horror elements so many players were looking forward to besides the inclusion of zombies. When you continuously use the same storyline of a zombie/biohazard outbreak, people want to see something new and fresh. It's also insanely long for such a boring game. In summary, RE6 is basically just an action game with some horror elements that lacked the passion and time put into it that made the other games shine.
Resident Evil 6 is a game that tries to be everything for everyone, and in doing so, it ends up being a muddled and disappointing entry in the franchise...
While its ambition is undeniable, the result is a bloated experience that strays far from what made the series a staple of survival horror.
The game’s biggest flaw is its identity crisis.
Instead of focusing on a cohesive tone, Resident Evil 6 splits itself across four campaigns, each attempting to cater to a different playstyle.
Leon’s story aims for horror but falls short, Chris’s campaign is a generic military shooter, Jake’s segments feel like an action movie gone wrong, and Ada’s stealth-focused missions feel tacked on.
The constant shifting between these styles makes the game feel disjointed and unfocused!
The gameplay itself is overly reliant on action, with wave after wave of enemies and an overabundance of ammo.
This shift toward bombastic set pieces and Hollywood-style explosions strips away any semblance of tension or fear.
The result is a game that feels more like a generic third-person shooter than a Resident Evil title!
To make matters worse, the controls and mechanics often feel clunky and overcomplicated.
The game bombards players with quick-time events, awkward cover mechanics, and cumbersome combat sequences that break immersion rather than enhance it!
The story doesn’t fare much better...
What could have been an intriguing narrative is instead a convoluted mess of intersecting plotlines, hammy dialogue, and forgettable villains.
While the returning characters are a nice nod to fans, their arcs are drowned in the chaos of a story that tries too hard to be epic without earning its emotional beats.
Even the visuals and environments, while technically impressive in places, feel uninspired compared to the atmosphere-rich settings of earlier games.
It’s all flash and no substance, leaving little that feels memorable or iconic.
In trying to appeal to everyone, Resident Evil 6 ends up alienating longtime fans of the series and failing to deliver a satisfying experience for newcomers.
It’s a case of more not always being better, and a reminder that bigger isn’t always scarier.
I think re6 is one of the best game from this whole franchise. Being able to play from different perspectives I believe made the best part to actually understand the lore, which is done really good through out the game. Also the designs and details look so cool for a 2012 game and I recommend this game so much. I also played the other games (remake and original) and i really believe this one was a huge bang on me. One of the best re games!!!
My favorite guilty pleasure (for campaign)
I play for the gameplay not for the story (story is not good, low key hilarious and stupid)
THE BEST PART = Mercenaris (The best / the most replayable part of the game)
I highly recommend you to watch some gameplay of mercenaris and see if you like it if you do then good, buy it but if not idk (i bought it on winter sale)
also coop is fun with friends
mercenaris and campaign have both coops
It is not a bad resident evil game. It has different shorter stories this time, but still I liked to play through it and it is quite enjoyable.
Steam told me my review was 914 characters too long. So I'll give you the shorter version.
Characters are poorly written within the context of character building in prior games. Timeline of events is chaotic and makes little to no sense, and is incredibly hard to follow at times.
The movement and interactables are incredibly inconsistent, work when they're not supposed to and vice-versa. Death is meaningless and can be hand-waved away as long as you bleed out on the ground long enough.
Why the f*** did Skill Points need to be introduced? Why are there 42+ skills when you can only have 3 equipped at any given time, and you have 8 skill decks to swap between at any time? Resident Evil 5 had a perfect upgrade system, so why innovate for the sake of innovation?
That's the important stuff. I'm gonna ctrl+c / ctrl+v the last section here.
I am being 100% serious when I say that I wanted to like this game again. Every time I convinced my friend for one more session, every time I opened the game hoping to get a little further than before. I loved this game as a kid, and I wanted to love it again. But every single time I reopened it, saw the logo on my taskbar, I was filled with existential dread. Even now, as I continue to play Ada's campaign, there's moments where I'm genuinely so angry and tired with how poorly made and dog-s*** this game is, that I literally alt+F4 the game and go play something else because I genuinely can't tolerate it anymore.
I am going to continue to play this game until I get every achievement. And once I do, I'm closing the game, uninstalling it, and never playing it for another second for the rest of my life. For your own sake, your peace of mind, if you want to enjoy the Resident Evil franchise for yourself, I implore you, please do. This series of games is phenomenal, and I love them all (except this one of course.). Just, please. When you get to Resident Evil 6, please just watch a story breakdown or playthrough on Youtube. Do not subject yourself to playing this awful mess.
I'm just honestly glad that Koshi Nakanishi stepped in when it came to making Resident Evil 7. Any more releases like this would've made me cry.
still a good game until this day its not the best but capcom tried with the multiple stories and connections in this game. Along with the new action and game mechanics in this game.
The best part of this game, is seeing how the protags will be extremy fucking awesome and hot killing people or zombies
This game is really have a Amazing Story that Leon,Chris,Jake and Ada
i don't care what people say about this game, most of them will hate this RE6
but for me RE6 is such a good game to play!!!
