One of the best cities in open-world crime games. It perfectly balance the serious story missions and silly and funny side activities. There is also huge freedom in character and vehicle customization. Overall, I love it the same as GTA 3 and VC, which are my favorites within the GTA series.
You gotta put work to make this game work, but when you do, man does it WORK... mostly.
Like everyone else says the only real way to play this port is to follow RaveN's community guide that gives you everything you need. it's simple enough if you know anything about your file explorer. and when your done it really does just WORKS... like it would if you played on console, but its fully playable.
After 36 hours I had 9 crashes, all of them related to cars and any sudden motion with the camera when driving or getting into a car. high framerates can cause the physics in cutscenes to be wonky, and framerate just dips inside buildings for whatever reason. But after all this time, saints row 2 pc finally works as you would expect of an pc port of a 2008 game if you put 30 minutes in. Long live the Saints
This is such a classic childhood gem that i will always cherish and love. Unfortunately this pc port is very poor and broken. If you want to play this you will need to patch the game with Gentlemen of the row made by IdolNinja. (RIP) if you never played this before this game is filled with humor and random fun activities with a decent story and good custom character customization, also remember to play in IdolNinja's honor for he was extremely passionate about this game and its series.
this game crashes constantly and thats WITH all the patches and fixes you're supposed to install just to get it to stay in one piece.
solid game even today, there's a lot to do, can glitch sometimes but playing old games on new systems does that (you can find a fix online to launch steam with a processor core cap, this works for all old games). if you've not played it before and your playing retro games definitely give it a go.
This game is a classic. Years ahead of it's time. A true original. The gameplay is stellar, second only to it's sense of humor. amazing.

The game as it is runs terrible and the mods to "fix" it are confusing and kinda sketchy. So if you don't know what you're doing but want a decent experience playing this game, then don't buy this port.

I owned the first Saints Row game for Xbox but did not get into the franchise until I got Saints Row 2 on PC. I remember being hooked on this game, going for 100%, fully invested in the story, and loving every minute spent playing this game. The plot for this game is relatively more grounded than that of later entries in the franchise, with the most memorable versions of the characters we've come to know and love. I would highly recommend playing this and the first game.
I love Saints Row 3. I love Saints Row Gat out of Hell. I personally think that Saints Row 4 is one of my favourite games ever. Let's not talk about Saints Row "Reboot".
But to this day, Saints Row 2 has not worked on my machine properly. I spent hours researching and trying out things to get past the startup logos, and when I finally got it somehow, it crashed after I walked a little in the first part of the game and I simply gave up. This game isn't worth the effort it needs to run normally. If your device is decent enough, just emulate the console version of its time and actually get to play a functional game.
If you haven't yet, try out Saints Row 3/4 or Gat out of Hell instead, these work properly and are truly worth it, especially on sale.

It's a very fun game. I love how the world is big with many activities to do.
This is a positive review, but for the love of god, DON'T PLAY THE STEAM VERSION!!! IT BARELY RUNS AND IS A WASTE OF MONEY!!!

Pretty great game, shame the PC port requires third-party patches just to play without the crashes and glitches.
I don't noramlly leave reviews but i decided this one needed it. the game is absolutely amazing. i got it at a fraction of the price and thats with all the others in the bundle. that being said. i am disappointed in the capabilities of the game itself since after saving to the point where i can do 1 of the 3 different gang missions, at some point during those missions when an NPC opens a car door the whole game crashes. i still believe this game is amazing i just wish there was something done to fix the crashes. the other games as far as i can tell run smoothly.
***The PC Port of this game is one of the worst ports ever, absolutely broken and unplayable***

With all that technical stuff out of the way, the game is really good. It's a continuation of, and in my opinion in most areas an improvement of the first game in the franchise, Saints Row (2006), not to be confused with the reboot Saints Row (2022). Seriously one of the best games I have ever played.

this game actually crashes less often if you play it on the steam deck interestingly enough, but i couldn't find out how to make it display controller buttons instead of PC buttons when showing tutorial stuff, great game, thoroughly enjoyed, lots of replayability

Honestly pretty good game, but only if you are willing to do some modding to fix it. If you're not comfortable with that kinda thing, probably don't get the game on steam, or at least get it on sale.
It's a georgous game! One of my most favorite games ever. But PLEASE, dear valve team: make it run on my steam deck too!!! it always throws me out, even before starting (just the volition logo shows up), although it says "playable"! I already tried all compatibility tools available, but none of them worked. So if it's possible somehow, please help fixing it! thanks in advance - I always believed in your work and never got disappointed!

Steam launcher is shitty, but this is one of the funnest games I've played.
For co-op story mode, it's an uncontested experience for GTA-likes with near-perfect multiplayer progress synchronization. SR1 and SR2 strike a balance between lunacy and grit. It feels genuine and refreshingly uncensored.
pc port sucks ass so I had to emulate it.

Great game but horrible port. This game really deserves a proper port, especially since the devs folded. Amazing game but horrible sputtering on my PC. Mostly playable on Steam Deck but lots of crashes. So an amazing game ends up being an exercise in frustration. Save often.
One of the worst PC ports ever, but JUICED + Steamless makes the game run pretty smooth. Patching the game is easy, don't let the negative reviews scare you away from this dope game.

Saints Row 2 is great Stilwater is way better than Steelport it is too bad the game requires mods to work well on PC.

A gang-bangin' GTA3 clone that was novel in its day for immersion & customizability.
It has honestly been greatly surpassed as a crimecraft saga by that franchise -- while the 'Saints Row' series jumped a tonal shark to establish its own over-the-top surrealist superhero identity in the 3rd entry & beyond...

Will probably always be in my top 10 games of all time. The PC issues are fixable with help from the guides on the Steam Page. One of the best open world games I've ever played, plenty of fun side activities, excellent main story missions, hilarious writing and character moments. Somehow a better character creator than most modern ones. Absolute apex of the series.
I played these games in reverse order. First 4, then 3, then 2. Because I was trying to figure out the story. But there really isn't one, not much of one. It's a clone of GTA, but it's a good clone. If GTA was Disney, Saints Row is Warner Bros. It pulls no punches with its satire and violence and ridiculousness.
PC version is unplayable, game crashes every 10 minutes

Great game. Terrible port of a great game. Buy it on gog, get gentleman of the row as well as the juiced patch. otherwise, play it on console.
one of if not the absoulute worst pc port known to mankind. this game takes ages to set up to get it stable and even then I still dont always get 60fps.
the game is great though
very fun. controls are a little weird if youve played the Xbox version. ive also noticed that the colors seem to be washed out a bit. but besides those couple of things, the game has been very fun. would recommend.
