the pc port is really REALLY bad but there are some mods that can help with that and trust me, its worth it
The Game is super fun and the customazation for your character is amazing the only thing is after acouple hours of game play the game will crash. Apparently from others that have played its been a thing since the relese on steam, I do hope this ishue gets resolved one day. Otherwise from that ive loved this game.
If u wanna play on PC port from steam is buggy as f*ck. You can buy it from GOG its still have a lot of bugs and needed to mod or use this guide from RaveN (I used the guide and I play without no problem)

This is one of the best games I've ever played, great characters, great missions, 10/10 ending. But sadly the game does have crashing issues and a terrible port but so far it only happens every once in a while, make sure to download the patches and to save your again frequently so you don't lose progress when you do missions or stuff.
Enjoying the Co-op grind (mind the glitches / bugs and unintended features). Just make sure to mod your game before playing or you're going to have a fun filled un-updated steam version from 2009 to play.

A classic gangster / car racing game, with many of the same great features as the most famous in this genre ;) Some crashes in the PC version tho, can only play on Low graphics setting despite having a good gaming PC.
A really good open world crime game, definitely can scratch that itch for that genre. (via gentlemen of the row mod)

I've loved this game since it came out. Look at the guides because it does need a patch to work. Once I installed the patch it has since worked flawlessly. I love how funny this game is, the character customization, the storylines, and the play style.

EXTREMELY BUGGY! keeps closing out and doesn't automatically save progress so i have to save manually every 5 minutes. some missions or even stealing a car causes the game to crash and close automatically. disappointing as i loved this game on ps2 however the PC version is a lost cause.
Even though I think it is too old for me to play it now, I played it for nostalgia. If you know the franchise, play it for nostalgia, the bugs must not be considered (my opinion).
Its actually sad how badly optimised this game is considering I played the entire thing on console multiple times how do you mess up a pc port so bad and ruin everything about it you can't play the game without crashes or the game randomly going to 1 fps and not working
This port is pretty bad. However with community made patches I've got it to work. It still has some crashes and some pretty odd glitches. However Im willing to put up with it to play this near masterpiece again. Worth it on sale for sure.

this game lags beyond all repair, you start some mission without setting your game to lower graphics and the resolution to 1280 720p then have fun habing this game crash over and over every 2 mins. the cutscenes look like everyone is floating on the moon, just get it on ps3 and you have none of these problems. I played the entire game on here and still can't give it a good review for steam. thank goodness I only got it for 3 dollars.

I love this game but dont buy it from Steam. It isnt patched you wont even be able to play missions or steal cars it WILL crash always.
Saints Row 2 is a hell of a game, still janky make no mistake but easily still standing as one of the best in the genre of GTA-likes. No other game in the series manages to dance the line between a silly comedy and a serious crime story as well as SR2 does, hell the only other games I can think of that do are the Yakuza games, and there's just a crazy amount of soul in this game that's just missing in the sequels. Throw in multiplayer and the enormous variety of whacky side-modes and there's just an insane amount of fun things to do, especially if you manage to get co-op working and do it all with a friend.
Unfortunately the game is in a bit of a state these days, the abysmal PC port not likely to ever get fixed anymore and the console ports and console-locked DLC no longer available for purchase.
Still, the characters in the game are still great and loveable if still with that caveat of being very much full of a certain type of mid-2000s humour that has only aged slightly less poorly than you expect, and the licensed radio soundtrack is leagues ahead of the first and third games up there with games like Vice City.
It's worth suffering through the jank and port troubles.
Insanely buggy and unplayable, what sucks is that it isnt normally like this but for an odd reason the PC version seems to be the most problematic. See towards getting this copy elsewhere as it really isnt even worth the 2$

This is the absolute worst port I’ve ever seen of any game completely unplayable at 1080p and 720p for me it crashes every time I load into the game and it needs mods to fix it.

This port isn't the best, but the game is a MASTERPIECE so you should probably get it anyway. With the gentlemen of the row mod to fix it up, it ain't too bad, and you'll have a gaming experience that you will never forget.

One of the best cities in open-world crime games. It perfectly balance the serious story missions and silly and funny side activities. There is also huge freedom in character and vehicle customization. Overall, I love it the same as GTA 3 and VC, which are my favorites within the GTA series.
You gotta put work to make this game work, but when you do, man does it WORK... mostly.
Like everyone else says the only real way to play this port is to follow RaveN's community guide that gives you everything you need. it's simple enough if you know anything about your file explorer. and when your done it really does just WORKS... like it would if you played on console, but its fully playable.
After 36 hours I had 9 crashes, all of them related to cars and any sudden motion with the camera when driving or getting into a car. high framerates can cause the physics in cutscenes to be wonky, and framerate just dips inside buildings for whatever reason. But after all this time, saints row 2 pc finally works as you would expect of an pc port of a 2008 game if you put 30 minutes in. Long live the Saints
This is such a classic childhood gem that i will always cherish and love. Unfortunately this pc port is very poor and broken. If you want to play this you will need to patch the game with Gentlemen of the row made by IdolNinja. (RIP) if you never played this before this game is filled with humor and random fun activities with a decent story and good custom character customization, also remember to play in IdolNinja's honor for he was extremely passionate about this game and its series.
this game crashes constantly and thats WITH all the patches and fixes you're supposed to install just to get it to stay in one piece.
solid game even today, there's a lot to do, can glitch sometimes but playing old games on new systems does that (you can find a fix online to launch steam with a processor core cap, this works for all old games). if you've not played it before and your playing retro games definitely give it a go.
This game is a classic. Years ahead of it's time. A true original. The gameplay is stellar, second only to it's sense of humor. amazing.

The game as it is runs terrible and the mods to "fix" it are confusing and kinda sketchy. So if you don't know what you're doing but want a decent experience playing this game, then don't buy this port.

I owned the first Saints Row game for Xbox but did not get into the franchise until I got Saints Row 2 on PC. I remember being hooked on this game, going for 100%, fully invested in the story, and loving every minute spent playing this game. The plot for this game is relatively more grounded than that of later entries in the franchise, with the most memorable versions of the characters we've come to know and love. I would highly recommend playing this and the first game.
I love Saints Row 3. I love Saints Row Gat out of Hell. I personally think that Saints Row 4 is one of my favourite games ever. Let's not talk about Saints Row "Reboot".
But to this day, Saints Row 2 has not worked on my machine properly. I spent hours researching and trying out things to get past the startup logos, and when I finally got it somehow, it crashed after I walked a little in the first part of the game and I simply gave up. This game isn't worth the effort it needs to run normally. If your device is decent enough, just emulate the console version of its time and actually get to play a functional game.
If you haven't yet, try out Saints Row 3/4 or Gat out of Hell instead, these work properly and are truly worth it, especially on sale.

Pretty great game, shame the PC port requires third-party patches just to play without the crashes and glitches.
I don't noramlly leave reviews but i decided this one needed it. the game is absolutely amazing. i got it at a fraction of the price and thats with all the others in the bundle. that being said. i am disappointed in the capabilities of the game itself since after saving to the point where i can do 1 of the 3 different gang missions, at some point during those missions when an NPC opens a car door the whole game crashes. i still believe this game is amazing i just wish there was something done to fix the crashes. the other games as far as i can tell run smoothly.
***The PC Port of this game is one of the worst ports ever, absolutely broken and unplayable***

With all that technical stuff out of the way, the game is really good. It's a continuation of, and in my opinion in most areas an improvement of the first game in the franchise, Saints Row (2006), not to be confused with the reboot Saints Row (2022). Seriously one of the best games I have ever played.
10/10, when it works.
