game controls are a bit weird and the infantry shooting can be really difficult but its incredibly fun to play
Awesome game with learning curve. If you want ultra tactical closer to real life and have the time then join a milsim or join the military haha. Overall great game and the singleplayer campaign is a great thing to have if you do not want to go online.
Amazing game so many years on. Modding community is one of the best for a video game ever hands down. If you like Mil Sim stuff and know your way around a tussle just get it. New Arma is still a few years away so plenty of love left in this gem

It's versatile and wild. The things you can create and experience with mods and friends opens the game to a whole - multiverse of possibilities! I highly recommend it. The best Mil-Sim I've played.
Probably one of, if not the best military sim you can play. Personally love the eden editor where you pretty much can make any scene you want.
If your are a person who would enjoy getting waterboarded, you will have a good time with Arma 3. Great times
Great game, don't matter if you have a squad of stone cold vets or a bunch of dumbasses with rifles anything can happen. Made a buddy of mine laugh when I showed him how to arma a tank into the sky. The guy inside was not pleased but hey what can ya do. But i recommend this game if you want a realistic shooter.
The most 'realistic' military simulator. The game modes continue to be refined. The fine balance of creating guard rails for online tyrant Zeuses, and the freedom to create immersive missions is done really well. I am hopeful that Arma 4 will exceed this by a large margin.
Great MilSim. For PVP and PVE. Create your own scenarios, or download an endless amount of community created content.

This game right here is basically what you would get from putting guns in minecraft and making it look so realistic, the actual tv news channels would pose it as a real war footage. The possibilities are endless in this military sandbox. And I dont even consider myself a military geek or a milsim guy, its just that Arma offers stuff to satisfy almost every gamer demographic. Whatever your vice is, the steam workshop probably got something just for you. The amount of both the vanilla and community created content, and the sheer replay-ability the unpredictable scenarios and simulated AI can provide, will make you keep playing this game for years.
Its one of those games that is better with friends of course. Go bully them into buying it, right now. Just keep in mind that you are not gonna know shit about how to play it in your first 200 hours or so and you are likely going to experience a lot of something, commonly referred to as testicular torsion. But don't worry, that is just part of the 💫✨☄️Experience☄️✨💫.

And don't be put off by bohemia's dlc policy right away (i know its hard not to), all those dlcs you see on the store page are completely optional. Most of the good stuff you going to play, is going to be from the workshop anyways.
Truly love this game. Sadly I'm having crashing issues, thanks to AMD. I'd love to return, if AMD ever decide to sort their terrible driver support out.
It's just amazing at scratching that milsim itch and also allows you to explore other universes of games, which is unmatched in fun and challenge.
The Antistasi Mod and amazing team behind it gives a type of gameplay that cant be replicated in any other game. It gives me an itch that ill always come back to play

Squad is technically better, but this game is gold. Very immersive, tactical.

This piece is pratsyu yak and planned. Some rustlers and so on. Everything is quiet and quiet. The residents of the old museum center without a Bluetooth column for a TV broadcast.
Got into this game roughly around October of 2021.
Since then, I've had some good, some bad, and some really good experience as both a player and a Zeus in two communities so far.
One I joined, one I started myself.
Save for some bad actors and how jank the engine can behave on modded servers?
Cannot recommend this game enough.
Just like the real army, know what you are signing up for. I sure as hell didn't.
1. Servers - Active combat servers are surprisingly hard to find because they are almost always full. Depends on your ping I guess.
2. Realistic downtime - In real army you don't spend every second shooting. Infact time spent on firefights is a very tiny fraction of the total time spent in the army. ARMA3 captures that realism, but realism is not fun for everyone.
3. Bugs jank and crashes - Prepare to crash and sometimes kicked out by admins to make room for other players. Lots of jank and glitches in general.
4. Who TF shot me simulator - I like the who TF shot me simulator genre and liked games like Rising Storm: Vietnam but here the respawn points are quite sparse so the penalty of getting shot is quite harsh.
5. Sandbox/Zeus - There are lots of youtube videos using Zeus to do very creative things. Those are more fun to watch than to actually play.
Anyways, the people who like it, do like it. Not me though. If you are new to this genre I would recommend trying Squad instead. It is similar in flavour but with reduced downtime between firefights.
mods ,real war scenarios , add on content ,multiplayer, and many modes to choose the cost is high but it pays for itself once you discover the community.

even though i have spend most of my hours in editor this game is easily the best i have played, it reverts itself from mainstream shooters in a brilliant way making battles feel actually realistic.
the only downside is that its set in the 2030s and is semi futuristic and makes things feel quite cheesy.
(the mods for the game are amazing also and are a must have if your trying to get accurate irl equipment)
mod community is great. there is a mod for almost anything you can imagine.

One of the most, if not likely the most, expansive mil-sims there are. Definitely worth a buy, if you have the time to play and learn the mechanics. Complex, but it is very enjoyable. Different vehicles like jets, helicopters, land vehicles, and just plain infantry for all play types.
I cannot stress this enough. Every single itty bitty bit of this game is fleshed out and has heart and soul added to it.
would like to recommend. But, if you aren't a fan of a very niche, and can't put up with one of the bugiest games with the worst ai for PVE then it's a definite no. even if you are, steer clear of pve with this shit-tastic ai. And, even though the dick riders will say otherwise, the ai definitely sees you through concealment.
great game, the everyone in the community is ether stupid or an asshole. exp: bring lanchers with amo and make a custom loadout. then they proceed to only give you 30sec do do that, and wile a player who has played more then 3 fucking matches may be able to do that, I cant. to every one i played with you are all stupid fucking pieces of shit.

Feels more like a toy than a fun game for me. I'd boot it up for 30 minutes then never touch it again. I'll just lay it out plain and simple:
Pros:
- Realistic...
- LOTS of content.
- Community is chill.
Cons:
- TOO REALISTIC.
- Multiplayer is incredibly unsatisfying (you get shot across the entire map by a sharpshooter sniper).
- Clunky
You'll love it if you like war simulator games, which I think are cool as fuck. But I can never really get into them because they just arent 'fun' to me. They're cool, just not fun.
For a war game, 9/10!
But fits more of a 3/10 for me.
Campaign is meh. Always a fun time on multiplayer though!

The admins consistently let other players ruin the experience for everyone else. Spent a lot of money on this game and the mods to have a terrible time in game. I've taken all necessary steps to alleviate this but they just do not care. This game brings a horribly toxic and hateful crowd. There is no hope for it.
If you're actually looking for a shooter to play. The vehicles are janky, the gunplay is poor, the lag compensation is trash and it's inferior to most other actual military action games out there.
The main advantage it has is playing with a significant number of players, using a wide variety of military assets and roles, in scenarios that allow for good roleplay and fun strategizing with friends. Arma is a toybox, but while it's full of a ton of toys, they're all knock-offs of the better brands. But hey, where else can you have all these toys in one place.
Absolutely recommend this game! Little jank on some of the things it does but what game doesn't! A blast with friends or randoms!!!!!
Damn, I never expected a game this old to be so impressive. It's fantastic if you want to play single-player, but the game truly shines in multiplayer. The modding community is amazing, offering endless possibilities and ways to play. I highly recommend picking this game up during a sale, as it’s often discounted to 80%.
Absolutely amazing game with loads of customization. Its a very complex game with alot of keybinds and nuances you have to learn but dont let that stop you from buying this! I got this and squad at the same time, and so far am enjoying this more
