its fun and rather realistic but i got it to play warhammer 40k, if you do as well it is incredibly confusing to find modded servers with good ping, and downloading the required mods takes hours, without being part of a larger unit like Ignis Corp that organizes events for playing modded its not worth it

One of the best open world shooter that I've played with. It's fun simulating and repeatedly trying different ways to approach the missions/scouting.
editor is the best part of the game which constitutes all the endless fun and customization, no wonder people use this to make fake war footage its too realistic for realz. very good game. would recommend to bored people.
arma 3 offers a level of realism that is unmatched in military shooters. the tactical depth, large open-world maps, and variety of vehicles make it a unique experience for strategy lovers. :)
I have played Arma 3 for a long time. It didn't feel right to make comments on the game for a long time because I'm rather biased. To say it simply... This is my favorite game.
I've played Arma 3 for a long time. I've been in so many different units and played so many different gamemodes. I enjoy many aspects of this game, my personal favorite of which being to Zeus. This game has one of the toughest learning curves of any game known to man. I get that. However, once you make it past that, this game has some of the Highest Highs of fun that you can have out of a videogame.
I recommend this game for everyone to try, for it is possible to find a community that you mesh well with, that you spend time with, that takes much of your free time, because you love hanging out with them. I've found my places, not every one is perfect. I know this, people in the communities know it. Yet I still go back, week by week.
Despite any changes in my life that have occured since I bought the game back in late 2014, a year after the game came out. I've made my way through this game, I've found a place to call home on multiple occassions. I recommend all to try for this game has nigh infinite possibilities.
There's something that you can enjoy in this game, you just gotta find it.
This is such a creative and flexible game. Even though it is an old game the mods keep it current and fun. There are glitches and crashes but overall it still is a good time.
i like making ai battles and seeing maps people make. thanks dad for getting this for me
Great game even in 2024, theres nothing better than Koth. Yes it has bugs, but it is an older game and still beats most of these arcade shooters popular now.
Please Bohemia, give us an Arma 4 with great scripting and modding support on a less buggy engine :D.
ARMA 3 is the peak of military simulation games. Simply put there are no others quite like it.
Mod support is great, sound design is peak, and gameplay is fun. I highly recommend buying this game if you're into milsim, or just want some casual fun with friends, there are a lot of missions to choose from on the workshop, but if you want to create a mission the game has a really well made scenario creator/editor.
Combat Sim..
This is such a good game and with everything that the developers have put into this you can tell they cared for it. It is in all of the sense of a combat simulator making sure that you have your team and they are equipped properly to make sure that you complete your mission and get out with all of your gear and your personnel. The realism that you feel playing this game will make you question what is going on. Now that they have made so many games like this and have put out on the market trying to match what this is. This game and the maps is very time consuming trying to get to your destination. It is very much of a grind and a learning curve if you have not played these types of games before, just be prepared for that.

I've only played singleplayer content in Arma 3 because the online community is WAYYYY too complicated to get into. However, I believe Arma 3 is still great for solo players. The campaigns that come with the game and DLC are alright, but the real Arma 3 experience is when you get into the mods.
There are mods that generate entire operations for you too play solo or with AI allies. Some mods put you in unique scenarios like having to put together a milicia to liberate an entire island from an oppressive regime or having to survive in a warzone by scavenging all your gear from zero. There are also tons of weapon mods and gear mods for those who love to customize their loadouts and build cool-looking guns.
It's the best sandbox for people who like milsim stuff. If that's you, Arma 3 is probably in your library already.
I had this in my library and neglected it a lot. Decided to pick it up and play with mods after seeing some youtubers play AntiStasi. By far my favorite mod and I've been having loads of fun. The campaign is also good too.
graphics are stuning and game is good mecanics
The king of shooters.
DISCLAIMER: If you are impatient, or have a low attention span, this game is not for you. Go back to the small arena kill-box shooters.
Arma3 adds on to its predecessors with new mechanics and other improvements that work well for anyone wanting to play a great cooperative shooter.
Do note, if you don't have a group to play with, or don't want to find one to play with, you should probably skip this game, because singleplayer is a joke in this game.
Arma3 is a simulator, which means victory is about formations and cooperative strategy, not diving through a window shooting two pistols akimbo style and tanking large numbers of bullets.
Fun game with a lot of problem solving and real life interactions. Not a game to just sit and play for 30 min. You will end up putting some time into trying to learn all the ins and outs
Badest optimization ive ever experienced in a Video Game but the game is verry god
Heavy CPU usage when playing with mods, there's some stuff out there that helps kinda. But My GPU isn't even at full usage which is bad, and is understandable from a old game. But this a game for your autism to go off when playing with Zeus or Eden, very fun. Also can't wait for Arma 4 to come out in 2027!!!
To be honest, the vanilla game isn't very good. The AI has no sense of coordination, and tend to shoot at things that are way too out of reach. However, thankfully Arma has a fully furnished system that allows users to download mods from the Steam Workshop.
These mods are what really made Arma an enjoyable experience for me. Whether it be AI tweaks, to quality of life changes, to entirely new systems such as artillery and top down commanding like an MMO. The workshop is truly what you're paying for.
Just note that while Arma is only 15 GB giver or take. You better expect to have at least 100 GB worth of mods. Because without it, it's just not very fun.
Load campaign. AI is buggin out. Get one shotted. A true Mil-Sim Experience. Honestly though I love this game. It keeps me on edge more than CoD or Battlefield. The large scale aspect blows my mind every time.
ARMA 3 is an outstanding military simulation game that truly immerses you in the complexities of modern warfare. The game offers an expansive open world, detailed graphics, and a high level of realism that sets it apart from other shooters. The wide variety of missions and scenarios keep the gameplay fresh and engaging, whether you're tackling a solo campaign or teaming up with friends in multiplayer mode. The modding community is incredibly active, constantly bringing new content and features to enhance the experience even further. If you're looking for a challenging, authentic, and rewarding military sim, ARMA 3 is definitely the game for you. Highly recommended!
The best fps military sandbox period and my gateway drug to mil sim games. There are even ways to play it like an rts though the air ai aspect of that leaves a lot to be desired. Plus modding support and content beyond anything I've ever seen. Bethesda doesn't even compare. Only empire at war I would say gets close.
This game is a lot of fun, lots of different ways to play it both alone and with friends. Looking forward to arma 4 which was announced to come out in 2027. Arma 3 is an excellent game, very well made. If mil sim type games tickle your fancy then you will probably enjoy arma 3. Get to the choppa!!!
This game made me realise my love for military aviation and served as my training wheels before i progressed to other dedicated flight simulators like Falcon BMS and Digital Combat Simulator. I had so much fun learning the controls on several military aircrafts. Starting off with simple aircraft mods that allow you to start up the plane with a simple push of a button to more full fidelity aircraft mods that come with their own pre-flight startup procedure. The game definitely has a steep learning curve and will see you spend hours to just get familiar with the controls before you can even think about getting inside the cockpit of a A-10 Thunderbolt II. However, ever since learning the controls I've been running multiple close air support missions, dropping laser guided bombs on enemy tanks from 20,000 feet and having an overall awesome time. 10/10 game and if your anything like me and love flying planes and helping the troops on the ground i'd definitely give this game a try. Good luck pilot :)
That is brilliant but I like this
Given it's age of what is an old man at this point, it's therefore safe to say that most individuals will be buying this title on sale as I have done about 6 or 7 years ago now. Other than the exceptionally enthusiastic folks, I say all this not only for the fact of the explained time gap but it's also, in some ways, a bit of a risk to purchase. With other games like Squad on the market, there are a lot more options nowadays for people to explore when in the realm of milsims (military simulator). All in all, Arma is an entity that you'll, eventually, just pick up due to the large amount of content it offers.
As what is abundantly evident, I recommend this title but the reason is purely down to the fact that it's essentially the "Garry's mod of milsims"; because of the flexible sandbox element Arma provides. In this review, I will be providing a sort of general overview of different bits and bobs in regards to stuff like what it features to possibly how well it's aged. More importantly though, I will be cherry picking a few things that stand out from this game that are worth the attention it should have.
This review, however, will not be going too in depth on most subjects like characters in the campaign as that is something that has probably already been covered and serves no purpose here. If your looking for a more comprehensive look at topics such as this then I'm afraid this isn't the place for you.
Oh no! Anyway...
So without even looking at the downloadable content, Arma offers plenty from it's showcases/scenarios to it's multiplayer as well as the product's own campaign. Backed with a gameplay loop that is for the majority great but not without showing some severe wrinkles when compared to other title's like the buttery smooth Squad I mentioned previously. Although I haven't played much of it, the time in which I did had basic elements like movement be the equivalent of having a nice, warm bath in contrast to the cold, stiff and rugged momentum of Arma 3.
On the subject of it's single player content. The campaign (The East Wind) is a bit of a hit or miss and, in all honesty, I've even found myself get bored midway as it sort of knows then not knows what it's doing at various intervals. A course correction that was made in the many dlc's that been released like Laws of War or the Tac-Ops missions with some amazing spectacles as shown in Steel Pegasus. Apart from the obvious, as far as realism goes when observing on what's presented, I would say there is an element of Call of "Dutification" going on with it's eccentric factions like CSAT as well as some of the combat scenarios your put in. I say this due to how Arma tries to pull a good bit of cinematography as well as the odd dramatic flare here and there like the large scale battles to something as minuscule as an argument between characters. This in turn can be quite jarring, especially if your coming in from the much more grounded Arma 2 however it is an issue that can be solved by going into the Eden Editor or Zeus with mods.
Still, could be worse
When I said previously about the game being the "Garry's mod of milsims" then it is in fact nothing like that at all. Confused? Fear not for itchy head as I have written that down on purpose given that Garry's mod is an entirely different entity but the principle of downloading mods, workshop or otherwise, is still the same. It's this accessibility that gives you plenty of freedom on what you can play with whether it's something like maps, ai scripts or various theatres of war that can greatly enhance the experience. That combined with using the provided tools such as the Eden editor can allow you to come up with some cool scenarios with just a few clicks! On a side note, I definitely recommend having a quick look at making your own mission design with things like scripted triggers. Yes, it can be a bit to take in and a tad boring(admittedly) however, you'll find it quite interesting and who knows? It could be a lot fun than I'm making it, the more the you do it.
Now, with mods in mind. I thought it would be a great opportunity to talk about the "concept" of the Creator dlc's. While for the majority of it is poorly executed, the idea behind it is actually pretty good. It is basically a convenient and official way to support developers who have been providing stuff through areas like the Steam Workshop for a solid amount of time. The biggest problem it has is it's like buying a second-hand motor, it's not gonna be running on all cylinders as is perfectly demonstrated with basic elements such as voice acting in the CSLA Iron Curtain dlc. Another is the fact that you can find the exact same type of content on the Steam Workshop that is perhaps even better to use than it's "official" counterpart.
That is a proud moment, but...
Now with multiplayer you have a range options to choose from modes like Invade and Annex, Warlords along with something as simple as Altis life or, so I believe, the more popular Takistan life where you do things like walk around and talk to people(I never really understood the point of this other than it being a Gmod RP type entity). To proceed further, I am only going to cover two modes here; King of the Hill and Zeus. You will see why I've picked these two later but to begin, Zeus is basically Dungeons and Dragons for Arma just with an added sandbox of toys to play with as the Dungeon Master(Zeus) creates a scenario with said gimmicks to build various objectives as well as obstacles for players to overcome. It is designed by rights, along with the perception, to encourage tactical gameplay while also pushing towards following the proper military procedure when in certain situations. That all depends on how serious you wish to be however that is not what you'll find in King of the Hill(KOTH), at least not from the perspective I've just explained.
While being my favourite gamemode of all time, it is also something you wouldn't normally expect in a milsim as it has a similar outlook to that of Battlefield. Koth is what is says on the tin but with three teams attempting to have complete control over the area objective on whatever location that may be. It's most certainly changed over the years and not necessarily for the better however, that is not relevant to this review. Do you remember my point about "Dutification", that applies heavily here with the game having a striking resemblance to DayZ, specifically the Arma 2 mod that, also, had a divide in it's purpose. It's this contrast that has me concerned in a, hopefully, future Arma 4 that it may decide go too far off in one direction(not the pop band) as I do believe that keeping this sort of formula will help rather than hinder that title as it has done here.
The CIA has been called into question for, at times, using torture, funding and training of groups and organizations that would later participate in killing of civilians and other non-combatants and would try or succeed in overthrowing democratically elected governments, human experimentation, and targeted killings and assassinations. During Bush's year in charge of the CIA, the U.S. national security apparatus actively supported Operation Condor operations and right-wing military dictatorships in Latin America. According to John Dinges, author of The Condor Years (The New Press 2003), documents released in 2015 revealed a CIA report dated April 28, 1978 that showed the agency by then had knowledge that U.S.-backed Chilean dictator Augusto Pinochet ordered the assassination of Orlando Letelier, a leading political opponent living in exile in the United States.
A good game, just not for me
Well everyone knows Arma and everyone knows it is a good game, but i just have issues when games make controls complicated without purpose. It adds no quality to the game and can be easily streamlined. I play a lot of games and trying to remember controls every time i return to this game just irritates me, to the point i Cant do it anymore.
Its a fun experience. Game is on the aged side but it still a gem.
simply the most versitile "realistic" simulation platform to date this game is truly whatever the server your playing on intends to deliver like gmod and battlefield 4 had a baby on the scale of hundreds of sq kilometers reforger looks cool and i cant wait to see how the new engine translates to arma 4!
Hard but not too hard story gameplay, great graphic for 11 years old game, very fun way to spend time with friends annd thats not all! This game is really worth it price.
Realistic and has a learning curve but very fun with mods!
To complicated for me, i bet its a fun game if you understand how to play and you got all the controls
TLDR:
Arma 3 has more content and runs like horseshit
Arma reforger has less content but better mod support and runs well
This is to anyone who cant decide between picking up Arma 3 or reforger
This game is like real world action!
Fun and intense battles!
Role playing severs, plus a lot more!
10/10 would recommend to anyone who loves FFS games!
This game is great with friends! It's well worth the price, and then some. Me and my friends have spent hours having a blast here- I'd reccomend it. My only issue is that there aren't enough customizable options for the civilian/FIA Vehicles.
The game mechanics, the music, the pace, the intensity - bloody awesome. If you played the Operation Flashpoint: Cold War Crisis (Arma: Cold War Assault), Arma 3 is more like it than Arma 2 - which is awesome. As soon as I heard the Arma 3 Intro Music I knew I will love the game.
Playing on an M1 Mac. Very good performance, error free.
This game is probably the clunkiest game i have in my Steam library, the AI is incredibly difficult to deal with, especially with driving, the AI drives everywhere except where they're supposed to. the mechanics are buggy and clunky and during PVP when left alt looking the game thinks the alt key is pressed down even when its not so you can't even aim properly, the game is very bland and horribly optimized, anything more than 30 NPCs and 2 vehicles and the FPS will drop down to 40 even when the NPCS are spread appart. i don't recommend unless you want a way to waste money.
Good game, needs new engine to get better performance. Hopefully Arma 4 will be great.
This games good and i like it, but if you play a public game that does operations dont expect anything fun. 95% of the time the Zeus (Basically god in the game) has a stick so far up his ass that if you even so much as breathe wrong he throws a fit and kicks you. multiply that by the team killing, racist trolling children, empty servers and fairly toxic community- you probably wanna find a Discord of people to play operations with. not a few friends, find a whole server. i doubt you will enjoy this otherwise.
a great Milsim, but the full fun is multiplayer (or friends) with mods (on workshop)
Ahh yes, ARMA3. Over my 2 accounts i have gotten over 1000 actually played hours in this game. I love it. The other 2k hours are from downloading 100s of gbs of mods. The things you can do with this game is impressive, it can be a survival shooter or a tactical simulator and pretty much everything in between. The biggest gripe I have with this masterpiece is that theres no good servers.
10/10 must buy.
Arma 3 is one of, if not the best military sandbox shooters ever made. I have 784.2 hours on this game. 782 or so of those hours have been spent running Antistasi with my friends over the course of 2 years. Multiple campaigns. Same shit. Never gets old.
Buy this game and Apex when it goes on sale. Don't buy the other DLC, all just gets added with mods. That said, the Jets DLC is pretty neat.
I've played this game somewhat... Absolutely the best MilSim game on the market IMHO. Yes, the AI (without mods) can be really stupid. Vehicle AI in particular can be frustrating and sometimes immersion breaking, but overall, this experience can't be beat.
Mods - This game has more mods than you could possible install in a lifetime. These mods can change the entire game from near-future to WW2, to Vietnam, to WW1, to Star Wars and the list goes on.
I've been a fan of the ArmA series since it's early days as Operation Flashpoint (yes, I know, not really an ArmA game) and have loved each iteration. If you are looking for a more realistic military shooter and are willing to invest some time, this is the game for you.
wish my laptop could run better i like how much you can do in this game especially with the mods etc
11/10 PTSD's
The game is much better if played with friends but. you can also play solo on variety of multiplayer servers out there, nice graphics
Reminds you that triple a fps games are complete theft when you start to play this, once you get over that it's a milsim you'll really enjoy it.
The game is pretty fun with other people, however once you play with/against AI everything goes sideways mainly for the fact that the AI will track you through walls and sees you through grass, i do not reccomend buying the story, stick to multiplayer
i'd compare this game to garry's mod for war, a massive sandbox with the choice of premade campaigns, building your own story, countless multiplayer activities, or just messing around with assets, in my experience it's sufficiently functional on a mid computer not made for gaming even with a bunch of mods, the only complaint i have is that server hosting seems rather difficult unless you're only hosting a 1 player server
es un juego goood para los que les encanta jugar tactico
