Arma 3

What can I say about this game that no one has before, This game is the reason i bought a PC and after 4673 hours i can say with out a doubt that this is the best Military game ever made. I have Stormed the beaches of Normandy, Fast roped on to the streets of Somali, Preformed Recce as the SAS on the Ho Chi Mihn trail, Battled on the High seas as a Pirate against the British, Destroyed the Rebels on Hoth and killed grunts and elites on the plant of Reach as an ODST and that was only the 1000 hours.

If you want a game that has endless ways for you to play this is the game for you

Tried ARMA 1 and ARMA 2 when they first came out and gave up due to the seemingly over-complicated key bindings. When ARMA 3 was launched I was keen to try it but my PC was nowhere near good enough so fast forward to 2024 (with new PC) and I purchased the base game on a Steam Sale. I was amazed at the graphics and the massive amount of mods for the game but the age-old problem of key bindings still put me off so I deleted it from my PC.
Having previously purchased OFDR and OFRR, most of the Far Cry games, Homefront The Revolution, Sniper Ghost Warrior games and many more FPS titles I then tried Ghost Recon Wildlands in the hope that this would be the realistic military shooter that i was searching for - unfortunately it wasn't.
My only option would be to persevere and learn the key bindings in ARMA 3 (I also searched for a realistic helicopter sim so ARMA 3 could also fulfill that requirement). 60 hours later and I can only say that this game is absolutely PHENOMENAL - I have made my own set of 20 missions starting on a fairly easy scale and getting progressively more difficult and this is allowing me to learn the game at my own pace. I have also installed 20 different terrains and many single-player scenarios (not interested in online multiplayer). I have played the game as a helicopter sim and that is also amazing and the difficulty can be tweaked as required.
For anyone interested in a realistic military FPS within a sandbox environment with access to literally thousands of mods to improve/alter just about every aspect of the game to your liking (and with access to thousands of user-created missions and scenarios) then this game is what you are searching for. Give yourself some time to learn the basics and you will not be dissapointed. This game will keep me occupied and very happy until ARMA 4 will be released even if that takes another 10 years!! I have deleted all of my other games from my PC as this is game is everything that I have searched for and is the only game that I will play from now on (unitl ARMA 4).

EDIT - Forgot to mention that I have also purchased Black One Blood Brothers and Ground Branch (neither of these games are anywhere near as good as ARMA 3) Not sure why it is listing my game-time as 14 hours as I have played over 60 hours!!

Dont get my wrong, this game has taken a lot of my life. Looking back I cannot believe how much time I have sunk into this game and how much I enjoyed it. But I cant recommend this to anyone as the game does not run properly, you are lucky to get above 30 fps. Game crashes like no tomorrow and trying to play with friends is a hassle. Dont even get me started on the DLC, they sure wont fix the game to run better but by god will they take your wallet and run. If you dont take out a mortgage to buy the dlc its impossible to play this game

very good game in my opinion. only problem is not my playstyle and very hard to play without a good pc

game looks like shit while simultaneously running like shit. if you don't have a nasa supercomputer, or if you like to play at high fps, then don't play this, get Squad.

Vast landscpae. Good graphics and effects.

A solid 60-70% of these hours were spent in the 'virtual armory' playing soldier barbie while the other 40-30% were spent in the most grueling and miserable combat simulator I've ever experienced, clawing my way through squad after squad of AI with every last bullet, grenade, and shred of sanity I had on my person. 10/10, we will be playing another 1,000 or so hours at the very least.

Buggy game fo a mil sim, official Serverlobbies where teamkills and racism are the only thing you can expect for sure -
but can also be amazing fun to play with friends or on some good community servers. Zeus is an awesome concept but the game is sometimes just too unstable and buggy to enjoy..... though it's old and not free. But with arma 4 on the horizon I don't think this will change. Even with all of the offical dlc's it's pretty lacking in some aspects and just feels dated.
Solo is meh - you can feel it's meant to be played in MP. But had some really good times in MP sometimes, when the serverbrowser was working, game did not crash or lag and there were no players around who had to scream the N word 60 times and shoot you down every time you spawn.

In Gods green earth there no way the game could have been made more difficult after this keybind's and other things in settings. Absolutely catastrophic, can't find where I am or what am I doing, literally lost myself in tutorial from all other shit. Game is probably amazing after you find yourself through this keybind's but for me, this is big NO as someone with ADHD.

This game has already been great, and the modding community is superb. Just wish it was a lot easier to edit in-game files, and customize certain things. This is a 2011 game after all. Here's hoping the "fourth" installation makes modding more accessible to create stuff, and improves heavily on this foundation (including adding certain features modders have been adding themselves for years now).

The land battles are excellent, the shooting is done with the wind and such in mind, but you often have to spend a lot of time marching before shooting.

Arma 3 is not a game. It’s a military-grade patience test disguised as software. I went in thinking, “Let’s shoot some bad guys!” Eight hours later, I’ve only shot two people — one was a teammate, and the other was myself with a poorly-timed frag grenade.

Let me walk you through my average mission:

Spawn in.

Briefing lasts 40 minutes. I pretend to understand words like “suppressive flanking fire maneuver.”

Start mission.

Walk for 25 real-world minutes.

Get shot once from 900 meters by a guy named Dimitri who lives in a bush and has 20/10 vision.

Die instantly.

Respawn.

Die to stairs.

The realism is unmatched. Your soldier is a highly-trained operative who can pilot helicopters and command squads… but can’t hop over a knee-high rock without dislocating every joint in his body.

Want to open a door? That’s a menu. Want to switch weapons? Another menu. Want to yell “MEDIC” while dramatically bleeding out in a ditch? That’s TWO menus. By the time you find the right button, you’ve bled out and your squad is halfway to Poland.

And multiplayer? Oh, buddy. It’s absolute chaos. One guy’s playing seriously, one’s playing banjo music over VOIP, and someone’s flying a helicopter upside-down into a cow. Meanwhile, I’m still trying to remember how to pull out my map.

So far, an amazing game, great graphics for its time, great sound and a lot of fun. The only problem is that the engine it's made with is not good at optimization.

Decent game overall but trying to host a small server with friends is fckin miserable.

A really fun military game. also games with mod support gets an extra point

Base Game + DLCs are decent for new players, consider adding mods to complete the war simulator immersion. I've made a lot of funny af memories from the multiplayer side of arma.

Multiplayer requires most of the DLC's. Singleplayer campaign look's pretty average, Would recommend buying Arma reforger or a newer milsim game.

Poorly optimized plus old game engine. But i love it and waiting for Arma 4.

Countless hours of fun in Singleplayer and Multiplayer to be had in this game! Its a bit buggy, but nothing that can't be circumvented with a bit of user knowledge and a few mods.

Had very hard time getting this game to work properly. Would not recommend to buy if you are not willing to spend hours doing it.

Garbage game, Controls are hard, but the game itself is hard, To get to a actually active server takes years because either there is none or you get kicked out, and you need like every DLC to play a garbage game, cool mods, but the games just.... eugh.. it feels old and outdated, its lack of updates, developers or even motivation to make the game better is what makes this game suck, please do better.

after this many hours, the only thing I can tell you is playing this longer makes you slightly less bad at the game.

I've only played the editor to play out every possible attack/ defense imaginable. I'm actually not very good at the game. 10/10.

20 hours into Arma 3 and I'm still learning, although I can now rank in the top 3 in kills in just about every game, because I'm just applying infantry and CQB basics. As a former Infantry Marine, this game is a lot of fun and the other players usually are not knuckleheads, and are looking for a good gaming experience. I learn every time I play and I just want more. Arma 3 gives me my first-person multiplayer shooter fix, every day. I see a lot of the same players who are dedicated and helpful, and committed to the missions and the overall experience for everyone. Arma 3 is my Safe

I can't in good faith recommend this, it's pretty much unplayable without all the DLCs, which alone would cost forty seven dollars, while the game itself already costs thirty dollars at the least. This game seems like it would be fun, but I can't play it without paying seventy seven dollars at the minimum. I am utterly and completely pissed at Bohemia Interactive for making this game cost so much to properly play. It feels like a horrible cash grab and I hate that. I was so excited to play this but every server in the server list requires DLC, not to mention even official servers need all of them. Maybe if the game were cheaper it wouldn't be an issue, but it's just so pricey.

if you want a real ARMA gaming experience (that isn't ROLEPLAYING very STRICTLY with OLD PEOPLE) that gives you pretty much the full tour/package. download and play Antistasi

sure you have to look at some settings to configure what you want, and you don't NEED to use Zeus but its nice to understand it a little bit to help yourself/your friends out when you need it.

But other than that it is EXACTLY what i want out of ARMA/wish was an official gamemode lol

or if you don't wanna download any mods, i guess just go send it over and over on KOTH

its a decent milsim, but definitly not for those who want to get to the action within 5 buisness days.

The endless options to make this game into whatever you want is absolutely insane, the modding community has gone above and beyond to create the wildest content.

Best military simulator around! And it only gets better with mods. I recommend anyone who try's this and likes it to give the ACE3 mod a try.

Brand new to Arma 3... TOTALLY get what the hype is about.. Truly an amazing game that has endless gameplay possibilities with the MOD community.

This game is more than just a mil-sim.
You can make it into so many different things with the in game editor alone, and i think its pretty sad that people make arma 3 really scary by mentioning how many keybinds it has and making ACE seem like something you need actual first aid experience to use.

Arma 3 is capable, Not complicated. If this game goes on sale, Try it out! there are tons of mods to try out that change sound, Visuals, Add new factions and items, Simple systems to make cool stuff without scripting, Crazy big and detailed terrain, and more.

If you do decide to get into arma 3, i recommend some of the base game story as and intro.
The mod MCC 4 is also good to create simple missions very fast, And Dynamic Combat OPs is a scenario that will do it all for you basically (Both are on the workshop). Have fun!

do not buy if you are going to buy the standard edition, every thing is behind a paid dlc and if you dont have that specific dlc you can play but every 10 min there is gonna be a pop up on your screen ( yes in the middle of your game like a phone game) telling you that you are using a dlc content and you should buy it, it is that ridiculous.

and also another thing about this game is piss poor performance, i get 70 fps at 1440p on official servers with 7900xtx 7800x3d pc, so if you have a worse spec you gonna suffer.

Not a lot of active online servers. still a blast to play single just a bit harder and more time consuming.

1. Press "w" simulator coupled with many redundant bloat cut scenes that are designed to wast your time.
2. Great graphics however, the game itself is poorly executed and under developed leading to repetitive scenarios.
3. Bullet sponge game to the point of annoying rather than fun.
4. Lame storey and lame audio.
5. Overall and summary 3/10 sorry to say.
6, PS - you should play sniper ghost warrior contracts 1 & 2 as the weapons are excellent !

I think Arma 3 is amazing it has a lot of mods that add new content and have really kept the game alive for so long. I

t is not an easy game to master which I feel puts a lot of new comers off (especially if they are very much into COD style shooters. I would recommend this game to any military nerd as it can be really fun if you are into that kind of stuff. (Royal Marines fan here.) There I a few bugs that can be off putting but I would not throw down a game because it has bugs, as in my humble opinion the bugs do not ruin the game.

the graphics and gameplay is great! muiltiplayer and the campaign is just a masterpiece, and another thing about this game, is that it doesn't run great on my laptop.

Listen folks, Arma 3—incredible game. I’ve seen a lot of games, the best games, and this one? This one is something very special. Milsim — real military, not the fake kind. Tremendous realism. Beautiful maps, like Altis—very Mediterranean, reminds me of Stratis, very classy. Some say I could have built a resort there, and they’re probably right. I will be making a golf course instead. Definitely. Tanoa? It makes me want to buy more islands to experience it in real life.

The gunplay? Phenomenal. Best I've ever seen. The modding community? Let me tell you—those people are hard-working gamers. They’ve built things in this game that make other developers look like Sleepy Squad trying to program a iPad. Absolutely horrendous.

The editor? Tremendous. Fake news would say that Zeus sucks. Totally false. I can not imagine a more core part of a game like Zeus and the Eden Editor. Tremendous work.

It’s not for casuals. You want Fortnite? Go play Fortnite. This is for serious people—leaders, winners. Strategy, coordination, tactics—just like a real campaign. Honestly, if we used Arma 3 instead of Call of Duty, we’d have had better results. No question about it.

Buy it. Play it. Dominate. Just don’t forget to upvote and downvote patriotic mods and cowardly fake mods.

A bug ridden laggy mess with AI that sometimes makes you want to punch drywall.

But for me ArmA III is the best MilSim game of them all. You either love it or hate it.
