Still better than GTA5 in terms of game physics.
surprisingly fun and well made. i reccomend you drive around with mopeds instead of cars because the cars are just horrible. other than that, the story is really good and i really enjoyed the dlc's aswell, even more so than the main story.
Man, GTA 4 is such a masterpiece! The gritty realism, the deep story of Niko Bellic trying to escape his past, and the raw vibe of Liberty City make it stand out. The physics engine and attention to detail were way ahead of their time. It might not have the flashiness of later games, but the atmosphere and storytelling are unmatched. Absolute classic!
this is honestly in my opinion the best game in the whole series bar none. best story, best environment, best vehicles, best everything. just be sure to mod it with fusionfix because GTAIV is broken as all hell. seriously Rockstar remaster the game i dont care if its $50 we'll probably buy it anyway so just do it
"Grand Theft Auto IV: The Complete Edition" offers a massive, open-world experience with unparalleled freedom and customization.
The game's realistic and detailed world, combined with its compelling characters and story, creates a truly immersive experience.
the controls for this game are so awful, it will remind you of why you hate playing older versions of Grand Theft Auto.
People talk about how the vehicles in this game have the "most realistic driving" but I disagree- I think the cars in GTA IV are the worst: they are slippery, they have no traction, they spin out of control if you're speeding at all. Compare it to any cars from GTA 3 or GTA 5, these cars are just really sloppy and they feel like bumper cars. It's so bad, you can't even speed because then you spin out of control every time you try to take a corner.
I really want to like this game and I have tried playing it again and again over the years, but the driving in this game really kills it for me and just makes me want to play a better version of this game or keep adding mods until I don't hate it.
One of the best GTA game crafted by Rockstar Games.
The OST ,Story line, Protagonist, Environment, Graphics, Characters, Side Missions, Physics, and everything about this game is near PERFECTION.
The way story progresses and you get connected with the characters. Several missions have choices which affects the story line and there are multiple endings.
Graphics and colours of this game is a bit on darker side but it still has its own charm and vibe which fits the game. GTA IV portrays "Reality of America" in a perfect way.
True GTA fan must try GTA IV, Rockstar games cooked a MASTERPIECE.
Peace.
Definitely the best Grand Theft Auto game in terms of story telling, character portrayal, and game mechanics. I recommend this game to anyone who's willing to spend 20 dollars on this game. GTA 4 and its episode are art masterpieces in my opinon.
Despite being god awful PC port with some crashes (especially on the 2nd DLC), graphical bugs here and there, overall optimization, showing how it NEEDS A PROPER REMASTER, it still is, the best GTA title out there, most realistic feeling gameplay all the way and the story being way much better AND realistic than in any other GTAs so far, I love how it tells the real cold truth about the "american dream", it is dark, it is gritty and it is depressing. After all these years it still holds up well and never ceases to amaze me. Absolute cinema.
Amazing game, *very* bad PC port. Make sure to patch the game with mods if you want to enjoy it properly. At a bare minimum, you should at least install:
- FusionFix
- DXVK
- Various Fixes
There's plenty of tutorials for each of them. Google is your friend! Happy gaming!
The game is enjoyable but has a few issues that can be easily fixed with mods. There are videos available that explain how to install these mods. It features three storylines, with the main story being significantly longer than the DLC. It's fun to play around with the game mechanics, especially when deliberately ragdolling off buildings or out of cars. The driving system is quite good, and if you don’t like it, there are mods to improve that as well. In my opinion, this game deserves a score of 9.4/10.
Ei niko lets go bolling!
GTA 4 has to be the most realistic view of the dark side of humanity that I have ever experienced in a video game, with parody galore of the american capitalistic culture. The game stands strong due to a solid foundation of great writing, characters, graphics, world building, etc. I have nothing bad to say against it, except for one thing, the one thing which has made me not give it a 'recommendation' in this review of mine, and that one thing is a nasty bug in the final mission of this game which did not let me complete it even after several tries. You can search for it on the internet, it is known as the 'helicopter bug'. There is a workaround for it, but I am not going to do that. I paid for the game and I want a patch for it. Until that happens, this game for me will remain 'unfinished' (I did watch the ending on youtube and it is quite depressing) and 'unrecommended'. A shame really, I enjoyed playing it until the very last moment.
It's fun but it's also really buggy. Some missions are almost not possible to complete because of how buggy they are.
If you're in for nostalgia then go, but to kill time just no. Controls are buggy, making gun fights 10x harder. NPCs are annoying af because they too are buggy; missions are all the same, no thrill wtsvr. Worst, you can't buy anything in the city other than ammo, food (that is not really that important), and ugly ass clothes from THREE stores--every clothes looks horrible on Vigo.
Thank god I got this on sale cause it wasn't really worth it. 3/10.
Runs buttery smooth on Linux/Vulkan, horrible on Windows/DirectX. Due to how old the title is, there are workarounds to make it run smooth on Windows. Great story in this game.
Grand Theft Auto IV: The Complete Edition, the critically acclaimed open-world game that put Rockstar Games on the map. This game is a gritty and mature experience that combines action, adventure, and a deep narrative to create a truly unforgettable gaming experience.
From the moment you start the game, you're greeted with a vast and detailed world to explore. The game's map is based on a fictionalized version of New York City, and each borough and neighborhood is meticulously designed and full of detail.
The gameplay is a blend of action, adventure, and driving, with a variety of missions and side quests to complete. You play as Niko Bellic, a war veteran who's trying to start a new life in Liberty City. But things quickly spiral out of control as he gets drawn into the criminal underworld.
But Grand Theft Auto IV isn't just about completing missions. The game's open-world design allows you to explore the city at your own pace, discovering hidden secrets and side quests along the way. And the game's attention to detail is impressive, with realistic physics and weather effects that make every drive feel unique.
The game's narrative is also a highlight, with a deep and engaging story that explores themes of loyalty, betrayal, and the American dream. The game's characters are well-written and well-acted, with standout performances from Michael Hollick as Niko Bellic and Ray Iannicelli as his uncle, Roman.
And for those who enjoy a more challenging experience, the game's difficulty curve is steep, with tough enemies and challenging missions that will test your skills as a gamer.
So if you're a fan of open-world games and want a gritty and mature experience, then Grand Theft Auto IV: The Complete Edition is the game for you. With its vast and detailed world, deep narrative, and challenging gameplay, this game is a must-play for any fan of the genre. Just be prepared for a dark and sometimes disturbing journey into the criminal underworld.
a Masterpiece of a game that you can come back to every year to enjoy its story.
here's to GTA 6 hopefully having all of the features from this game and More
game runs like ****. it always boots up in 24hz and i can barely make it through the menu because of it. then it lags all the time. and yes, i have a good PC.
One of the best games ever made.
BUT you will need mods to make this PC version on par with the console version from 2008 tho.
(Look up TJGM's "Fixing GTA IV with mods" tutorial on YT to figure out how)
By far the best GTA game of all the time, San andreas doesn't fall much behind it but everything about this game is just pure realism and detail, installing mods as well is a whole new level
Poor port but still worth playing for how good this game is, both base game and DLCs.
Good game. However, third party software is required to get it working properly
Best GTA ever.
From the setting and vibe to the story and gameplay, this is simply my favorite game in the series. I especially love the physics, gunplay and melee fighting system. Enemy encounters are super fun and the driving requires a bit of effort. The soundtrack as well is the most iconic one in the franchise, in my opinion, and FM Vladivostok is the best radio station I've ever had the pleasure of listening to in a video game.
The only downside to this game is the godawful optimization. The peformance will be abysmal unless you install a slew of mods, which are quite finicky and not super easy to set up. If you install Fusion Fix and DXVK, you should have an almost flawless 60+ fps experience at any settings with a modern rig.
I really recommend you play this game as it's an absolute masterpiece with perfect writing that we will sadly never get to experience again in this modern sensitive world.
physics are more real than real life, and im russian
There are so much more bugs and optimizastons problem
And Rockstar haven't fixed yet.
Every time when i am doing missings lots of bugs happened in game.
I am doing same missing again and again it is so boring i am sorry
i couldn't enjoy this game
I don't wanna get stressed because of this game, do i deleted this game.
Not Optimised at all since the day it launched on PC poor graphics bad optimisation waste of money and time to play this game on PC/Laptop. Not even worth buying it on sale. Fuck you Rockstar you've wasted my money and time for this piece of shit game.
My Rating for this game 1/10
This piece of shit is full of bugs... One in the final mission won't let me finish the game.

My Personal Opinion
I liked the story. I enjoyed the lost and damned DLC. I liked how much of a joke it turned our very real world into. I played this unmodded back in the day pretty close to when it came out. It is just obviously so much more fun with mods though, just requires a lot of steps to do so, and is quite an annoying process to be honest.
Things i do not like.
(it's literally too gay, but the weapons and vehicles are fun, i just don't care about if the characters live or die, and overall did not feel emotionally invested in anyone on this DLC.)
Conclusion
You may not enjoy this games humor. I can see a lot of it potentially offending people, especially these weaker minded people in this modern age. (Perhaps this review will offend you, and if it does you might not be able to handle this game.) However if you aren't easily offended i suggest picking this up, the story may feel a bit dated, but i still thought it was relatively good, it gives you some pretty hard decisions later on. There will be characters you meet in this game you will probably hate. DLC wise you will either be on the same mindset as me, maybe you will like the ballad of gay tony dlc over the lost and damned. Perhaps you will hate both the dlcs and only like Nico as a playable character. There are a lot of very diversely opinionated npcs, and a lot have the potential to infuriate you, depending on who you are as a person. If you try to do everything in this game you will be rewarded with some very funny moments. Along with hours and hours of content. estimated playtime: 30+hours. (Depending if you decide to do everything.)
i get sexual pleasure after playing this but my PC get fuckdup after launching this game but all total i lave game worth purchase
솔직히 말하면 진짜 호환성 존나게 말아먹었음
버그 천지임 차에 탈려하는데 혼자 자빠지는 애니메이션 취하고 있음
The performance and Compatibility issue is just absolutely garbage
Grand Theft Auto IV is a fantastic game with a great protagonist and a deep plot. It's much more serious than GTA V but still retains the Rockstar humour we all know (and hopefully love) and parody. Some of the most common complaints about this game are the driving, the plot's slow pace and the removal of the old radio songs, which can be restored with mods (and performance on PC if you set night reflections on the highest quality, I believe); if you can overlook those, then the game is worth a buy.
The story is very good
After the latest update, I’ve encountered a persistent bug with Stevie’s garage missions. Each time I deliver a car to Stevie’s garage, the garage door won’t close for some odd reason. While I still receive the payment for each delivery, the door remains open until I save or restart the game 🤷♂️.
Great classic, the physics and story are fantastic. Best enjoyed with the music mod to restore the original soundtrack.
I have mainly played this game on Xbox and it is in my opinion the best GTA game made. The port to PC is a bit dodgy but overall 10/10 game.
Awesome piece. Still holds up story wise, gameplay. Must play.
Can't comment on story as i've hardly made any progress as i'm not liking the controls which is NOT smooth at all..keyboard or joystick the character is okay to control but the vehicles; i think it maybe easier to drive a real car...graphics is fine but what I mean is the controls is very frustrating..BTW I've completed GTA5 multiple time and loved the story, game and everything about it (except for my cars disappearing:)
For the love of GTA Francise if you did't played this GTA IV Series . Then you are missing the best ever storyline in entire GTA Franchise. Give it a try . Worth it
Rockstar now is not even sending the emails with the 2 step verification codes and they are literally not allowing me to play a game that is decades old that I paid for...
*Vague memories and ramblings ahead*
I remember a mission early in the game where you have to create an online dating profile for Niko. It was a really interesting premise to put a borderline PTSD ex-soldier that recently escaped his homecountry try to interface with the strange concept of online dating. Similarly, in some ways, I felt as estranged as he may have been being 15 years old thinking about the idea of online dating. I was a very awkward teen and had some trouble fitting in, so I can empathize with some of Nikos plights trying to fit into whacky America (with exception of having to own a gun, killing people and actually immigrating illegally to another country). I remember looking at his profile on the internet cafe computer and thinking, "Gross, he's thirty. Thirty year olds are so old, how can he even hold a gun and do the things he does?" - and now I am writing this review having turned 30 this year.
It's funny how a game you played 15 years ago can conjure so many emotions and make you ponder how it was you thought about things when you were younger. I feel like that's one of the more unique features of of videogames as a form of media. You are actually in control of the main character and in a way you get to live out their storylines with them. I don't know why it always marked me when I thought about Niko's awkward selfie with the caption of "Age:30" underneath. I think that the rejection of the idea of me possibly getting to be 30 one day and being an adult and having to fend for myself was actually paralyzing. I was very afraid of having to leave the comfort of my home and I was afraid to make my own choices - and even worse, be accountable for them. Storylines and characters, as well written as Niko is, always triggers a lot of introspection.
Now, I don't think it's a hot take to say (and not even necessary to say) that GTAIV is clearly one of the best games of all time. The voice acting, the mechanics, the ragdoll physics, the weightiness of the cars, the atmosphere, Niko's story (I could go on) are some of the best in gaming and I feel they could even hold up even to today's standards - but it's always hard to summarize the impact that it can leave on the industry and on people. My favorite memory was getting calls from Roman and trying to practice his accent and repeating his phrases back to my friends. The results were a mixed bag. Still, lots of great memories with the game.
Not sure how a rating can even apply to a game like this, but id be more than glad to give it 5 liberty cities out of 5 🗽🗽🗽🗽🗽
This is definitely a silver medal game that could have even managed to snatch a gold medal with some optimizations but, I'm talking about the PC version at least, I don't feel like awarding it even a silver because of multiple flaws in the game's controls, I'll try to highlight the most serious ones below.
1 - Even though I press the right buttons perfectly at the right time it is almost impossible to dodge in fist fights, sometime it works, way more often it doesn't. (this is especially serious in the "The Ballad of Gay Tony" DLC because it prevents you from correctly completing a tournament that would have been easy if the controls were perfect)
2 - Controlling the helicopter in the PC version with Mouse+Keyboard in my opinion is completely broken. I've used a helicopter in many other games and i never encountered so many troubles like this. (this is especially serious in the DLC "The Ballad of Gay Tony" because it causes serious problems when trying to reach 100% in certain missions)
3 - This, fortunately, is a minor problem but still irritating..... Of the various minigames present, the pool game is certainly the worst, controlling the bounces of the balls on the table is practically impossible, you have to go randomly and hope to be lucky.
4 - It was impossible for me to complete the final mission of the main story due to technical problems with the framerate, after reading various solutions on the internet I managed to overcome it by limiting the maximum number of frames per second and the consequent refresh of the monitor, an absurd thing for a game of such proportions.
5 - Another minor problem but still present in the game is that sometimes, my character or some NPC remains blocked and can no longer move, in the most serious cases I had to reload the last checkpoint.
Having specified the most serious flaws, I can now safely say that Grand Theft IV is a wonderful game that will give you hundreds of hours of fun, but unfortunately, when you have to award medals it is also right to highlight the flaws.
Recommended to everyone as long as they are adults because the language in the game is quite heavy as well as the various situations.
My Final Score is
89% /100
Fusion Fix is required to run it on modern systems due to an early zoom-in softlock cutscene bug which was not ever fixed. The shoddy port struggles to properly utilise available resources to run at above 60FPS, but with that one mod it runs great and holds up really well as a game today. Further, you get two additional campaigns, which while both combined are shorter than the base game it's still a fun change of pace with different characters. I can easily recommend buying this game even at its base price, but thrifty gamers should note that it goes sale 4-5 times a year for 70% off.
7/10: The best and worst GTA game.
Really fun open world game with some rough issues! Better than GTA V in combat and driving physics, but tends to crash and has an unreliable saving/loading system. Quests can be quite frustrating and have none/few checkpoints.
If it had the modern GTA/RDR checkpoints and stability, it would be 10/10 in my book.
However, it does not have these, and these issues can get frustrating to the point I quit the game before finishing the story and I have no intention to return.
Personally, I enjoyed GTA IV much more than GTA V, however, this PC port is infamous for how trash it runs, so be warned. You will also need to deal with the rockstar launcher, unfortunately.
I don't think this game runs too bad these days though, just download a patch and you should be good to go. Ran just fine for me (for the most part). Don't let it stand in the way of playing this masterpiece.
It’s a masterpiece of open-world gaming that continues to stand the test of time. This edition includes both the main game and the expansions “The Lost and Damned” and “The Ballad of Gay Tony,” providing a rich and diverse experience. After many hours of exploration and adventure through Liberty City, here’s a detailed review of this iconic title.
Strengths
1. Engaging Story and Memorable Characters:
At its core, “GTA IV” offers a deep and moving story centered around Niko Bellic, an Eastern European immigrant who arrives in Liberty City with the hope of building a better life for himself. Niko is a complex protagonist with a tragic backstory, and his interactions with other characters—from his cousin Roman to various figures in the criminal underworld—are well-written and nuanced. Each expansion adds new layers to the story, with themes that explore camaraderie, betrayal, and the fight for survival.
2. Freedom to explore and diverse activities:
Liberty City is a vibrant and detailed metropolis with a variety of neighborhoods, each with its own identity. Players can explore the city in detail, from the busy streets of Broker to the wealthy area of Algonquin. In addition to the main missions, the game offers a multitude of secondary activities, including pool games, car racing, watching movies and various side missions, which add depth to the experience.
3. Graphics and atmosphere:
Although released in 2008, "GTA IV" continues to impress with its graphics and artistic design. The environmental details, weather effects and character animations are outstanding and contribute to creating a realistic atmosphere. The music, from the in-game radio stations to the original soundtrack, enhances immersion and reflects the urban culture of the time.
4. Innovative gameplay:
The control system is intuitive and the game mechanics are well integrated. Whether it’s police chases, combat, or social interactions, every action feels fluid and natural. Also, the introduction of real-time action options like taking cover and using stealth tactics adds an extra layer of strategy to the game.
Weaknesses
1. Uneven mission pacing:
While the story is engaging, some missions can feel repetitive or less inspired than others. There are times when players may feel forced to complete less interesting missions in order to progress through the story. This can create a sense of stagnation, especially at times when the action should be intense.
2. Technical issues and optimization:
Although the full edition includes all updates, some technical issues persist, including graphical errors and lag in certain scenarios. These issues can affect the gameplay experience, especially during moments with a lot of action or when many NPCs are involved. Optimization on various hardware configurations can be a subject of improvement.
3. Thematic Approach:
GTA IV tackles mature and sometimes dark themes that may not be suitable for all players. Violence and antisocial behavior are pervasive, which may turn off some users or parents. This thematic approach, while well-executed, can be a point of contention.
Conclusion
"Grand Theft Auto IV: The Complete Edition" remains an iconic title in the world of video games, having had a significant impact on the industry. Its captivating story, memorable characters, and the freedom to explore Liberty City make it an unforgettable experience. While it has some weaknesses, such as technical issues and uneven mission pacing, these do not detract from its overall value.
fucking impossible to login, even tho i remember all my information. FUCK ROCKSTAR AND SOCIAL CLUB BULLSHIT I PAYED FOR THIS GAME LET ME PLAY DAMNIT FUCKING FAGGOTS
really good game other than not being able to finish the story. There is an unbeatable glitch on the last mission which makes the ending unattainable. really unfortunate tbh :/
there is a bug in the last mission that prevents you from completing the mission.
The Game is completely broken for me, I am stuck on a specific Brucie mission as when delivering a car, the garage door closes behind me so that Niko cannot ever leave the Cutscene resulting in me being fully stuck. Great story still and really fun to play just broken to the point of unplayability.
