opens up the lore a bit more and is well paced. although i don't fine it quite as good as the episodes.
I would have paid SO much more for this series and been happy.
I think the devs need to start asking for more to be honest.

Please don't misunderstand my "thumbs down" for thi game. I actually love the Space Pilgrim Series and have played it several times over, It's just that this episode is seriously sub-par. Where Pilgrim was enjoyable point-and-click before, this is just going from cut sene to extensive cutscene. While the charaters are still enjoyable, the attempt at removing running around in favor of accelerated storytelling fails utterly. To top that of, the game - unlike its predecessors - is somewhat unstable. Having to reload, because the game crashed after 10 minutes of cutscene, and having to do it all over is not much fun.
Again, great series, but please stop the misimprovements.

Nice game, enjoyable series. Simple yet fun adventure.
Soooome grind if you are trying to do all the achievements, which means going back and replaying. It would be nice to have a way of escaping/bypassing cut-scenes (or of saving in the middle).
Another great adventure game from Pilgrim Adventures. It shows that good writing can overcome everything including using RPG Maker.
Maggie and Gail's story continues (obviously) in Year 3.
If you've played this far into the series, you know the deal. Just go get it. 2.0 is real nice.
Personally, I found Year 3 a little weaker than the other 2 entries. Gail's role was smaller and I found her part overall less interesting compared to what had to do with her in the past.
Space Pilgrim Academy Year 3 is a story driven game, where most of the gameplay comes from puzzle to solve (think about it as a point and click adventure in a top down RPG view). Overall the game takes from its prequels Year 1 and Year 2, with Margaret Dale and Gail Pilgrim.
This time, you get to have a bit more liberty to explore something that is outside the academy, and some graphics got changed. The music is also a bit different and have some really cool new tunes.
I personally liked the game and I spent around 6 to 7 hours to 100% complete it with all achievements (this time, there are much less than any of the other games). It's a pretty easy game with a fun sci-fi story, so I would recommend it to anyone that loves story before gameplay.

The seventh Space Pilgrim chapter. Both Gail and Maggie's stories are developed further in alternating scenes. While it starts at the Academy as do the last two chapters, this has less focus on Maggie's classes. There is a spaceport, a museum and two new ships to explore throughout the course of this chapter as well as another secret location. Lots of character development, with Diane Romero and others becoming more central to the plot. Honestly I think if this series was redone with more sophisticated graphics it would be extremely popular. The story is first rate and the world is highly detailed. If you are thinking of starting this series, play the first game (which is free now iirc), and if it makes you curious, try out the next chapter. A great sci fi series, with a relatively easy point and click gameplay.
Well, if you are here, then you have most likely already played at least Years one and two, and probably also the whole Space Pilgrim Saga. If not, do so now, otherwise the plot of this game won't make any sense.
For everybody who has played those games and enjoyed it, this is a must have.
Year three continues the story from years one and two and is equally as good as them. The riddles aren't difficult, but the plot speeds up and you even gain insights into characters who you have already known for six games. Totally worth it and you get a lot of content for the price ( I took around 5.5 hours but I am a very slow player and examine everything, so its more like 3.5 to 4 hours for the average gamer).
Another Good Game in the Space Pilgrim Series.
The Graphics & Music are the usual RPGMaker style, but the Storytelling is Really, Really Good.
Each Act (there's 3 Acts) alternates between Margret Dale at the Academy, & Gail Pilgrim in Space.
The Writing is Great & the Characters Development has made me a Big Fan of Margret Dale.
Considering how Cheap these Games are to Buy, you will Definitely get your Moneys worth.
NOTE: For some Stupid Reason the Steam Algorithm doesn't recognise this as a Proper or Official Game (not sure how else to word that), so the Achievements won't count toward your Profile Totals or Total Perfect Games (if you get 100% Achievements).
As always the Space Pilgrim series never fails to surprise me. I love the gameplay, the characters, and story so much I swear I'm gonna have to animate some of my favorite scenes from the games series.
Year 3 really had me screeching and hollering on the Final Act...T H E F I N A L A C T, so much sht went down and I think I need some time to process what just happened. But, nonetheless the game (as always) is absolutely amazing!
TL;DR
10/10: The beginning is the most epic beginning to any game in the Space Pilgrim Saga, the trip to the museum is a lot of fun, and the cliffhangers are really suspenseful.
Overview
In case the reader hasn't played the first six games of the Space Pilgrim Saga, Space Pilgrim Academy: Year 3 is a sci-fi adventure game continuing from the rest of the Space Pilgrim Academy series where the game splits time between the adventures of Ambassador Gail Pilgrim and academy life with adopted daughter Maggie Dale. Gail's side of the story involves travelling to an undisclosed location in the galaxy (as the game calls the universe) aboard Admiral Victor Delacour's private ship after being arrested in the previous game, while Maggie's side of the story is the usual class life mixed with drama involving the regular characters in Maggie's clique (Diane Romero, Kenrick (sic) Morse, May Martinez, and the Bishop twins) while Maggie continues to have visions, some of which involving Gail, but this time more of the backstory to Diane is provided in Maggie's visions.
Graphics and Sound
The graphics and sound are just the same from every other game in the Space Pilgrim Academy series, but with one exception: Now that Maggie and her classmates are all upperclassmen, the cadets now all look older and taller than before. (The faces also look a bit different in the dialogue boxes, too.)

Positives
Everything that players love about the Space Pilgrim Saga are back: The player will enjoy lots of interesting characters, well-written dialogue, perfect plot twists, and strategic use of humor.

The classes continue to have interesting subjects, and being the third year, Maggie and her classmates finally get their crew assignments for those who remember Space Pilgrim Academy: Year 1.

The best thing about Space Pilgrim Academy: Year 3 is that the beginning of Maggie's side of the story is nothing short of epic, and by far the best start to all of the games in the Space Pilgrim Saga.
Negatives
It's hard to find faults in any of the Space Pilgrim Saga, but apart from the usual short length of any game in the saga, there's no trading cards. (Trading cards were discontinued after the Space Pilgrim Episodes).
Like all of the games in the Space Pilgrim Saga, this game doesn't support the Steam overlay, either, so the player will just have to hope they're one of the chosen few people who have the magical powers to take and upload screenshots to show off to their friends.
Perhaps the biggest negative, is that until Steam's algorithm is satisfied by more people purchasing the game and players writing reviews, the achievements earned by the player will not be officially recognized on Steam.
In an attempt to find faults, nobody asked ReviewExperts to do an official review, so ol' Il Pallino is once again reviewing a game in the Space Pilgrim Saga for the fun of it. (Although the ulterior motive for reviewing should be obvious in the previous paragraph.)
Conclusion
Why does Steam's algorithm have to have such stupid criteria? It was put into place only because shovelware "developers" were shoveling their crap onto Steam who's only virtue was the thousands of achievements the player is credited for doing little to no work in a game. (It seems more prudent to see how many achievements a game credits a player with, and flag them for giving out either redundant achievements or too many achievements.) Now customers will have to write reviews to games that don't have any genuine need for reviewing. (As if anyone is going to start playing the Space Pilgrim Saga on the seventh installment!)
Perhaps a better question would be, why hasn't an AAA developer purchased the Space Pilgrim Saga yet? The stories and dialogue are all good enough to where the saga should be made with a multi-million dollar engine and fully voice acted.

This is a well-written game with great characters and atmosphere. It really sucks you in.
The story progresses, there's interesting plot twists, i am really looking forward to the next part.
If you consider the low price and the hours of entertainment you get from this game, it is worth every penny.
Another great episode. Keep them coming, faster if possible. Also, given the considerable time between episodes, it would be useful to start each episode with a recap that will remind the player where he/she is in the story.
This is the game to play after a long day at work and you just wanna sit back and enjoy a great interactive story in your pajamas and slippers. Not a long game but it is satisfying to figure out each piece of the puzzle to advance the story along. Well worth it, and cant wait for the next episode.
The continuing adventures of Gail Pilgrim and Margaret Dale as you work to unravel the mysteries behind the events of Years 1 and 2. As well as older mysteries...
Anyway, if you liked the rest of the Gail Pilgrim Saga, and don't mind a few (or more) callbacks to the original Space Pilgrim Saga, this is a game you will enjoy.
You probably should consider buying the Saga bundle, just for the sake of your wallet... not that the games are all that expensive.
Space Pilgrim is like a blanket and mug of chocolate on a winter day. It's such a well-built world. All the characters in it feel like real people who you get to know better and care more about each episode.
In episode 3, Maggie is starting to come into her own as a young adult. She's still a precocious little shit, but she's also an orphan who is slowly realizing her childhood might have been more troubling than she remembered it... You can kind of give her a pass. The puzzles are simple this time around, which is a nice return to form after some frustratingly opaque stuff in episode 2. Most importantly, it retains the wonderful writing. Well worth the cash to get another little slice of unabashedly fun space opera.

Year 3 is slightly different from the first two episodes: it has a stronger emphasis on the puzzles, the academy classes take a back seat to other events, and the writing is distinctly funnier. None of which is a bad thing.
As always in SP and SPA, there will be a couple of nice twists on the standard take item/use item formula.
It's impressive how strong the writing is. The story touches on political events, evolving relationships, school life, provides comedic relief, and handles every theme equally well. The worldbuilding is equally strong. Year 3 reveals that SPA apparently takes the science fiction themes from Space Pilgrim and Sentience even further, which may or may not be to your liking, but the game keeps things balanced and won't overload you with science-fictiony stuff.
One minor concern about the graphics is that SPA might have landed in an uncanny valley. With low-resolution pixel art, the characters are more or less just symbolized by the bitmaps. When the resolution is increased, our expectations increase as well, and the character shapes start to look somewhat silly.
If you're playing now and thinking "But I haven't got a chance to watch Galactic Traveler yet!", don't worry, it will be hard to miss, just later in the episode.
