If you are looking for a easy-going, sit back and relax sort of game than this may check several boxes in that regard. It's a game tailored to play in small sessions or just marathon-it. It takes less than 10 hours to see everything there is to see, it doesn't overstay its welcome, there's no filler or secondary objectives. There's a story and you follow it. If you are used to games where your choices really impact the course than, despite what it seems, you won't find that here. You do have choices to make, but they will not have a impact in the outcome. You may have different lines of dialog but that will be it.
Using anecdotes, joking and a good use of irony and sarcasm may be hard to find in most games but in here I would say Tales From the Borderlands did it right, with just the good amount of it. The game is not serious and does not take itself too seriously even in those tense moments. It's a light-hearted adventure.
The game has a good momentum. You will be searching the name of the intro song everytime a new chapter starts. It's fitting, feels good, the camera angles during these intros are nicely made, the attention to detail is there, it's something we often skip when watching TV shows, for instance.
You will become friends with lifeless forms, robots and other unexpected friends (or foes?) in which some will make you desire that you really had the power to change certain outcomes if you could do it based on the good or bad choices you make along the game. But that, once again, will not be possible. So, knowing that, simple sit back and enjoy the ride. We need more simplicity in videogames and this one is a easy choice for a pick-up and play and move to the next one when you're done with it.
Really engaging story filled with humour and radical moments. The characters and their interactions are a blast, and the choices feel impactful. 10/10 - highly recommend for anyone who loves a mix of comedy and adventure!
might be one of the most fun i've had in any story-like game. it is hilarious, and worth the money. you can also wait until it is on sale, most sales can go down to even as low as a measly 2.69 CAD.

Where to even begin.
Tales from the Borderlands is a once in a lifetime type experience that only a Telltale game could provide. This game was so amazing, from the voice acting to the writing i cant see anything wrong with this game from an artistic perspective.
This game was just as hilarious as it was emotional, good lord. The jokes hit at ALL the right times, I found myself having to pause for minutes at a time because I was laughing my guts out because of a your mom joke.
If you have played any other previous borderlands title and you want to play something new, THIS is the perfect game.

Quality storytelling with plenty of choices to make. Had a blast playing it!
I bought the game on a whim during winter sale for just 1,99€, and for that price it's definitely a good experience. I never played anything from the Borderlands series before, but it was easy to get into and just overall a fun ride. In comparison to other telltale games like The Walking Dead, it felt less complex or like my choices weren't as impactful. The characters are likable and sometimes I'd have liked to learn more about them in the game, but maybe they are known from previous games to fans of the series. The gameplay is very easy and I wish the Quicktime events were a bit harder sometimes. The achievements are very lazy, as they are simply given out for completing the chapters, and nothing more interesting that you only unlock by making speical choices.
Overall, I can definitely recommend giving this one a shot during sale. It's not worth the regular 20€ it's listed for though. But anything up to 10 is fine for it.

Tales from the borderlands is a great story that i half-remember watching a play-through off long ago on Youtube. The comedy is good ol' borderlands core and if you enjoy the humour/story telling then you'll enjoy this telltale game. get it on sale for the best bang for your buck.

Probably the best game in the Borderlands series. Gameplay isn't as tedious as the others, story skips the dubstep references, and you get a say in the plot. Pretty good, all round.

Probably one of the best Telltale games I have ever played, right next to the TWAU and TWD series. Game has the perfect combination of storytelling and humor in it. I enjoyed the play-through and definitely recommend this game to anyone who likes Telltale games or is obsessed with the Borderlands series.

Tales From the Borderlands invites us to the Borderlands universe with a story that is both entertaining and engaging.
Tales From the Borderlands is an enjoyable adventure game that was officially released in 2014 and consists of 5 different parts in total. You may know the producer company Telltale Games from the games “The Walking Dead” “The Wolf Among Us” and “Batman - The Telltale Series”. Those who like old “Adventure” games like me first met the company thanks to the Sam & Max and Tales of Monkey Island series. The company attracted attention especially with the first season of “The Walking Dead” series and then continued on its way with the “interactive movie” style games it released.
The Adventure of the Company Man and the Swindler
The Borderlands games are a series that stands out with the variety of weapons that reach seriously high numbers rather than their main story. It is said that there are structures called Vaults from ancient civilizations on the planet Pandora, where the chance of dying the minute you step foot is very high. There are unimaginably advanced technology and weapons in the Vaults. People who try to reach the Vault are called Vault Hunters, and money, fame and great wealth await those who succeed. In the main Borderlands games, my goal as a Vault Hunter is to reach structures called Vaults and gain wealth. Tales From the Borderlands, on the other hand, provides us with a different perspective.
Tales From the Borderlands takes place after the death of Handsome Jack, the main antagonist of the second game. While everyone is chasing power in the Hyperion company he owns, one of our main characters, Rhys, is a company man trying to strengthen his position within the company. The previous boss goes on a spacewalk for reasons beyond his control, causing Rhys' main rival to become the new boss and all plans to fall apart. Rhys, who decides to make a plan with his close friends and put the boss in a difficult situation, does not know that he is about to embark on an adventure he never expected.
The second main character of our story is Fiona. She is a con artist who does big things in Pandora with her brother and the protector who saved them from the streets. Fiona, who plans to make a $10 million scam by selling a fake Vault key, changes her business because of Rhys, who appears as a buyer, and Vault Hunter Zero (Borderlands 2) who suddenly appears in the middle of the sale.
Fiona and Rhys, who initially start working together to save both their lives and $10 million, go after a real Vault as a result of the events that took place in the first episode, and present us with a great story full of adventure, conflict and betrayal. While the first episode pumps you up with its fast pace and the characters (Loader Bot <3) included in the story, you may experience some trouble in the second episode due to the team's distrust of each other and the excessively slow pace. But when we look at it as a whole, the story offered by Tales From the Borderlands is one of the best works Telltale has done.
Tales From the Borderlands, which does a very good job in terms of story, manages to present this successfully. The dialogues are very well written, and none of the conversations that change according to the choices you make seem irrelevant. As someone who loves good scam stories, I loved the character choices of the series. Most of the jokes are on point, Pandora and Hyperion companies are very well integrated into the game, there is no problem with the characters from the main games stealing roles, the storytelling changes according to our choices. Excluding the slow pace of the second episode called “Atlas Mugged”, I can give ten points to the story aspect of the game.
If Choices Were Not Just an Illusion
Although Telltale initially started with games like “Point & Click Adventure”, it gained its real popularity with The Walking Dead, which was similar to Quantic Dream’s games. Games that tell stories where we can see the effects of our choices positively affected Telltale’s success. It was annoying that the company paid attention to it at the beginning but then neglected it with the logic of “whatever we do, games sell” and tricked the players by making them do whatever they wanted.
Although Tales From the Borderlands has an interactive movie atmosphere like the company’s other games, it is not too bad in terms of interaction. In fact, it may be the game with the most interaction except for the Batman series that came out later. We see the different characteristics of both characters in the sections where we can roam freely. Rhys has the ability to scan objects or people with his eye implant to obtain important (and funny) information. Fiona has money. In some cases, money speaks for you and you can easily open the way. We also have an inventory system, but it's mostly cosmetic. Don't get your hopes up trying the contents in different places and seeing what kind of things you can do.
I praised the storytelling and dialogues, and said that the narrative changes according to our choices. Almost every choice you make has an impact on the game. While some choices have serious consequences that affect the attitudes of the characters next to you, others affect how funny the conversations you will witness will be. Yes, I count this as an impact as well. When you make a ridiculous choice, the game offers ridiculously funny dialogues accordingly. Actually, the main story is clear, there is not much you can do about it, but with some serious choices, you can decide which characters will play what role. Apart from this, Telltale's "appears to make a choice but does not make you choose" options are still available. They are not many, which is a big plus of course, but they are still there.
I really want to praise the voice cast. The voice cast includes well-known names such as Troy Baker, Laura Bailey and Nolan North, and all the dialogues are voiced successfully, and they manage to bring the characters' moods to life. The music choices are very good, and the sounds are used appropriately.
Conclusion
Tales From the Borderlands is, I mean, the best game ever made by Telltale. Telltale, which also has very good productions such as Wolf Among Us and the first season of The Walking Dead, has done a great job in terms of both story and gameplay in its collaboration with Gearbox, Tales From the Borderlands. It has a narrative that can quickly draw even someone who has not seen the Borderlands universe before, full of characters and a well-written story. I can actually recommend this game to everyone, but there will definitely be someone who will not like it. So I thought I would make a short list of who I recommend it to.
If you like 'Choice Matter,' this is going to be the best choice for you to try. My first time playing it in December 2024 made me regret not knowing about it earlier. The reason I can say this is because I enjoy the gradual progress of getting to know each character over time. I really like the mix of dramatic and humorous moments in various situations.

Like all 'games' in this genre, the replayability is poor, but like a good 'movie', you only need to see it once to get a few memories that will last a lifetime.
Not quite like other Telltale games, as most of the choices don't matter but as a story it's quite decent. Definitely must play.

We set off to find my upgrades, but one stayed behind because he was sleeping and I didn't want to wake him up since I didn't have uranium milk for him, humans drink that. We had adventures together, we met a not so nice lady, Kind Jim and a skyscraper-high golem monster, it was scary! But I had much fun! c:

This game is funny, entertaining, and packed with great storytelling. I did encounter a minor bug in Episode 1 where the cursor disappeared, but reloading the game fixed it. While the journey was amazing, I found the ending a bit weak and slightly confusing. Overall, a great experience worth playing!
Really liked the story and the jokes in the game. Overall a fun experience especially those that like the Borderlands series as there are many references and easter eggs to those games as well.
Unbelievably, you can not change key bindings. I'm left handed and this makes the game nearly unplayable. It would certainly be uncomfortable, since I normally use the arrow keys and the number pad. Very disappointed.
For anyone who doesn't know yet: it's not a game per-se, it's more of a interactive movie, really. Some sentence choices, some (rather arbitrary) clicking, some bare-bones 'secrets', various paths through the main story, etc. Put it like that, it doesn't sound like much, but this one is written by someone who knew their job very well—great humor and Borderlands tropes galore. I really recommend if you like the latter. You will feel at home.
Word of a warning, though. Although the game offers some replayability, sorta', it's almost incredibly short for its kind. And guess what—it ends with a cliffhanger. One that baits you to 'finish the story' by spending more bucks on another installment. Someone could argue that it's packed with action and twists and all, but even so, this would've left a somewhat bitter aftertaste if I have bought it for the full price. I don't think that 20 EUR is justified for those 3-4 hours worth of an 'interactive' movie that is not even 'ending properly'.

honestly I was dreading 10-12 hours of story, but man that was amazing. If you are a Borderlands fan, it is a must play.
Went into this game thinking it was going to suck, but it turns out I was very wrong. The story and the characters are all great. The ending was far better than anything I would have imagined. I heavily recommend this game.
One minor piece of advice: Play this before Bl2's Commader Lillith and the Fight for Sanctuary DLC (unlike how I did)
Wonderful game! The entire thing is full of easter eggs and tie so many of the stories and characters together. Scooter is one of my all-time favorites and glad he was a big character in this. I have played through other CYOA and this is top notch story and gameplay. Highly recommend for anyone who loves the borderlands stories (even just Borderlands 2) and wanted more! Also relates to Borderlands 3 so that's fun too
I had this game sitting idle in my game library till two days ago when I felt about experiencing it.
And.... wow ! What a great adventure.
Like all TelTales games, this is more of an interactive movie with limited time choices. You can like it or not, but it's quite enjoyable. The game itself is, in my opinion, greatly written. All the main characters are top notch. Some could have deserved a bit more love, but maybe it's due to my own choices that some are not shining as much as others.
The tone is great, quite serious to be honest but with a brilliant humor that is distilled at a good pace and I authentically laughed at loud at some moments.
If you're familiar with Borderlands, then you'll feel at home. If you're not, then don't let that prevent you from joining a charming cast of characters.
Will definitely play it again in the future.
I know there is a sequel but seeing how many bad reviews it received, I'll keep myself satistfied with this experience.
My god what a piece of garbage this is. Is this even a game? 11 min in and it bores me all ready. They just walk around and talk. TALK! Borderlands game with just walking and talking. And baking and bird watching, choosing a wall papers and what not. Somebody please shoot me.
This game mostly had me smiling ear to ear, (for the most part some parts are sad its always going to be a sad time when playing TellTale Games.) Its very charming and witty not too much where its cringe and feels forced. Borderlands can be known to be pretty cringe at times with the dialogue. But they mastered it in this.
It had me staying up past my sleep schedule for work because it was so good.
Starting this game I thought it wasn't going to have been to good, but I was proven very wrong. It is a very good story game that I would recommend to any Borderlands fan. I would recommend getting it on the giant Borderlands Pandora Box sale as it gives you this and every Borderlands game and DLC for very cheap.

One of the funniest games ever, but also pretty emotional. You don't need any experience with the Borderlands franchise to understand this game, either.
I like the old style Tales games and the original borderlands games, 3 sucks donkey cock, but I never tried this game till know. Its great, it has the same borderlands humor as the regular games, however the normal free choice mechanic the original Tales games had is nonexistent, but is replaced with borderlands jokes claiming the choice was nothing more than mere boasting or exaggerations told by the players choice.
I've loved this game since 2018 and this is actually the game that got me into the Borderlands franchise. I remember watching Jacksepticeye play it and telling myself "I have to play this". I remember falling in love with the art style and the witty humor. Playing this game, 6 years later brings back nostalgia that I never had with the other Borderlands games. Maybe because I've continued to play them? Who really knows? But with all that aside, this game is really really amazing and you should definitely check it out. It's worth every penny.
It's a cute game "about the journey, not the destination", since the main plot is the same for any given choice. In the end, I recommend buying this game in a sale and picking the path you find most interesting.
I found the ending to be a bit lackluster, lacking some sort of epilogue, but it was a fun journey.
How are you gonna call this Borderlands? It's all Quick Time Events. No shooting, no looting, no bad-ass ranks. It may have been a fine story but it's not a Borderlands game. Disappointed.
