You have three minutes to achieve as high a score as possible.
By destroying aliens and collecting energy cannisters, you'll enter new stages, where more scoring opportunities and dangers await!
Utilize a high-intensity dash-attack to immediately waste a row of aliens for a massive combo bonus.
The instant burst of speed can only be stopped by colliding with a wall or item.
Master this stunning technique to efficiently clear stages and earn tons of points!
Don't forget about your cannon. It's very effective at keeping foes at bay.
When friends team up, their combined energy results in a mighty forcefield. Take advantage of this to smash even more aliens.
Three versions of Alien Field are included:
*Alien Field 3671
This is the ultimate evolution of the Microcomputer classic.
Instead of a "lives" system like in the original, players have to contend with a time limit.
There are numerous items to collect that will increase score and add time. Bombs can also be found and detonated, laying waste to scores of enemies.
Four composers have participated in this version.
-Swedish electronic group Ibojima
-Micom Basic Magazine Sound Writer Hideki Awata
-Junko Ozawa, composer for many classic Namco games like Gaplus, The Tower of Druaga, and Dig Dug 2.
-Last but not least, there's Wing *, who has contributed to previous Mindware releases like Heiankyo Alien 3671 and Space Mouse: 35th Anniversary.
*Alien Field Arrange Version
The original game has been slightly revamped with new features and a more accessible level of difficulty.
The BGM uses the equivalent of a PCG-8100 sound source, for a very authentic experience.

Back in May of 1981, Alien Field was published in the first issue of BASIC magazine. This is a port of the PC-8001 original.

This game is severely entertaining, and is like how many of us of a certain age wish old games actually were.
It's worth saying that it currently says "Controller not supported" but I totally play with an XBO controller, with the only exception being you have to press space to get into the game, everything else seems to work. If doing this you really have to use the d-pad as it's the sort of game that would have needed a proper 4-way joystick, and not an 8-way one.
It gets nutty enough that by the time game over happens you are surprised to find you stayed breathing the whole time.

I love all of the games that come from this developer. Those old Japanese PC games got really weird and experimental with their limited hardware. Seeing this developer grab onto those older titles and kick them into this kind of weird 16-bit arcade mash-up is always great fun! Space Mouse is easily my favourite one, but this one is also quite good!

Very enjoyable so far. The original PC-8001 version is a bit too hard and unfair for my liking, but the arranged PC-8001 version is actually pretty great, and it can be played in turn based mode by pressing T, making it much more like a roguelike where you get all the time you need to plan ahead and make the best of any situation. Very fun!
I have not had much practice with the modern 3671 version yet.
I really love Alien Field, I think it is the most visually appealing game Mindware has made yet. It might be a little easier then Heiankyo Alien at the time, but Mindware is always good at updating they're games and balancing to make things more challenging as time goes along. The older version of Alien Field included in this was really hard, I died way faster then I did in the newer version, but I did buy this mainly for the newer version of Alien Field, so I still feel it is definitely worth the price. The tunes in this are first class! Killing aliens has never been this much fun since Heiankyo Alien. 10/10
