Awesome Racing game. If you loved 'Flatout 2 ' this game is Definitely for you!!! with HUGE upgrade)
Game visuals are beautiful specially car graphics are flawless. The game never crashed, there are minor graphical glitches such as debris floating in the air. I only played single player which has significant grinding specially in races on circular tracks with 12 laps. It is a difficult game compared to NFS or Forza Horizon Series but it was still fun.
Deck Review - This game runs fantastic on my steam deck and is a blast to play. I like that you can do Singleplayer, Custom Races, and the Multiplayer is pretty fun too with lots of servers to choose from!
This can be both a realistic and arcade depending on the driving difficulty you set. I also recommend this for desktop users too, hook up a controller and you're off to the races!
One of the better smash 'em up car racing games with the expected great physics from Bugbear., Though doesn't take long to get through the main game, the daily tournaments keep it going. Would be better if you didn't have to reset your race performance to simply try to better your previous attempt, but that is a very small gripe.
Definitely worth looking out for during the sales.
Nothing but love for Bugbear.
Great game, runs well if you don't have a literal toaster for hardware.
Amazing
Smash, Crash, Earn, Repeat
make enemies, kill enemies over and over
Wreckfest is an unapologetically a salute to the rural spectacle that is vehicular carnage. It doesn’t have that gloss or class that other chaotic racing titles like Burnout or Motorstorm have, it’s lowbrow entertainment reserved for tiny towns with decaying racetracks built a half century ago. There are so many things from this game that remind me of going to the racetrack with my dad and the seeing special exhibition Figure 8 and Enduro races. It’s hard for me to not be clouded by nostalgia, but I think the game itself has enough variety of vehicles and events to hold a casual racing fan’s attention across the entire campaign.
amazing Game. I would like more missions or the ability to create.
uhh review. sure
note that i own all DLC and played this game infrequently since it first released-ish.
also played them flat outs of course.
Things i like
-driving is fun and feels good.
-cashing into things is fun
-a bunch of fun tracks to drive on
-tons of fun "retro" tracks in the steam workshop
-the vehicle customisation that is there is nice. though i would like being able to make my cars look worse. think, Flatout2 derby class.
-damage model is good.
Things i do not like
-Bunch of really good cars are DLC exclusive
-i don't care for the soundtrack
-campaign, leveling and progression are mandatory to unlock cars or parts for said cars
-only one driver model, no different shape or outfits though as i understand it it is a bit too late to change that.
-too many popups telling me mods are enabled
-pretty sure the only 4WD cars are DLC. that or you get mod that has one in it.
i don't mind that the game does not have nitro in it and makes an effort to be "mostly" more realisticish and believable. more like flatout 1 than 2 in that regard. even though 1 also had nitro boosts in it. though the game can be modded to play more similarly to the flatout games. or.. a handful of other things too.
overall i think this game is quite enjoyable even though i only ever played it offline.
fun game with good destruction physics, good time burner but still lots of fun
Just picked up the game a couple of days ago, having never seen an in game vid or screenshot as far as I know. Don't remember ever hearing of it. But wow what a blast. I'll write an actual review after getting in some play time. Just wanted to post an initial impression after 2 days of messing around - tons of fun you can't go wrong having this in your library. Just get it.
This would have been such a great game if only the multiplayer experience wasn't such a rubberbanding disaster. All system requirements are met.
This is the most fun iI've had in racing games since like 15 years. It's visually appealing and the gameplay is phenomenal. It's so much fun to play. The physics are great, the wreckage is awesome. Who needs super cars when you can have raw sounding messed up mustle cars. Love it!
this is an annoying as fuck game. did i have fun at some points yes, does that change the fact that the rest of the game is WAY to fucking hard and is annoying no. there no difficulty settings when it really should have it for beginners, they give you a C class car as a reward for completing a race but then you don't get to use that car in anything after that for what it seems like is awhile. its a frustrating and annoying game and im only playing it to part take in community nights. if you like being pissed off then find this game is for you but if you want to have fun and feel like your having a good time DON'T PLAY THIS GAME
It's a really fun game to blow off some steam with! Being a lover of racing games and destruction, this is perfect for me on days where I need to scratch both itches.
Great fun game, great graphics FUN FUN FUN
There's no sweeter sight than watching on-coming cars scramble to get out of your way as you're full throttle in the opposite direction...
Good luck trying to have even one friend join a server. Refund this shit.
It's fun, I mean I'm no car game fanatic but it's enjoyable to play through while it last :)
One of the most fun arcade racers on the market obviously the destruction is the biggest selling point but nailing drifts or cuts through corners feels better than most racing games I've played and as a causal gamer easy to reset 5 laps in
You might ask how I have +400 hours on this game and leaving a negative review but there are a litany of problems with this game that I need feel stating.
1. The single player campaign is boring and feels like filler to pad the run time; and it feels like a downgrade once you have maxed out the cars and have to return back. The normal single player mode is easy too once you have maxed out your cars and even if you're driving a C-class car on expert then you will win any race with more than Normal damage and enough laps because the AI drive like maniacs. You also have to grind it to unlock all the cars.
2. The damage model is wacky. Maybe you can't expect BeamNG levels of deformation but the damage isn't really significant on normal difficulty minus the health bar. You can still set competitive times with a car on 1 hp. The only noticeable thing (again on Normal) is that gear shifts will be delayed by maybe 100-150ms and the engine might sputter though that's really rare and only possible if you hit a wall at full speed, you won't get anything like steering axle deformation, any terminal failures like in the engine or driveshaft, or obviously any softbody physics. The only way to DNF is by depleting your health bar (yes health bar in a racing game, ikr) or losing two wheels on the same side/axle (which is so rare that it's not worth considering).
This wouldn't be so bad if the collision model wasn't total crap. You can hit a wall at a 10-20 degree angle and literally come to a full stop and start spinning around uncontrollably. How much damage you get seems to be random at times and even small contact can destroy your HP.
3. The multiplayer is probably the only reason to play this game is the multiplayer and it's well... it's not good. If you want to play in a full lobby then good luck dealing with the same 5-6 mods over and over again. Racing on multiplayer is basically impossible. There is a 50/50 chance you get killed in the first turn and it's highly improbable to come back from that since the servers will only have 3/4/5 laps in one race. Most of the people in this game can't race; they will literally go pedal to the medal in every corner just to crash into you - even if it completely ruins their own race. The "divebomb" is pretty much the one and only move expected in this game - there's very little things like spinning people out or bumping people off the track. Again, this wouldn't be such a big issue if the collisions or crash physics were good - which they aren't. I don't know why they made a simcade game with supposedly realistic physics if the whole game is going to be low-stakes crashing into each other without having to care about the car they're driving. The cars are so light even with armour that you will get flung 6 feet into the air for straddling a curb or being kamikazed. Again, every server I've tried are the low stakes servers where it's faster to mash the reset button every-time something happens than drive the car back in the right direction. The driving physics are so wacky that it's faster to drive with stability and ABS half on than with assist off. Again, it's basically impossible to go into any semi-clean lobby and win without assists. In A-class I have wheelspin in 5TH GEAR with no assists + manual with clutch on and it's impossible to not lock up. You can be competitive with a keyboard just by using assists and a DLC car. This is also why it's way to hard to spin anyone out in the game because most of the players have max stability on.
The toxicity in these lobbies is unparalleled, you dare complain about anything to the kool kidz klub and you will be targeted by the mods and DNFed. But you do something after the immense bullying and you will be reported and banned. It's so dogshit. You're not allowed to show any feelings or you will be literally bullied.
4. Most of the tracks are either too small for a max lobby and/or A-class or they are meme tracks deliberately designed to cause as much meme chaos as possible. I feel like the devs gave up on making a good game a long time ago and this it what the game is really about.
Everything good I said about Flatout 2 is seen and improved upon in Wreckfest, the dev team just knows how to make good racing games. I'm sure when Wreckfest 2 releases, I will be writhing a positive review too.
My favorite racing game of all-time. The only disappointment is no splitscreen and the online experience is pretty meh. The single-player however is superb. Great career mode and progression.
What can one say about wreckfest apart from drive fast and crash hard.
Its a game that shows that it doesnt take much to make a great game last more than it was expected. This is one of those game where is best played online because racing against the A.I can only teach you the basics. Now coming to online mode is like playing the lottery eather you find that one server where you feel at home or you will have the misfurtone of joining a server that with no rules but the admins will have a power trip and banned you because you are good at the game. Yes im looking at you Poop socks midwest. Its a good game to play with mates and the comunity creates events and leagues to keep the game fun and competitive for everyone. This is a must buy if you are into racing / derby games
A tentative recommend, but this game is far from perfect. Its imperfections are unusual though, the content that is present is of a really high quality. The car models, physics, tracks (few as they may be), visuals are all top-tier, clearly crafted by talented people. But with that, the game doesn't really feel like a game, it's more like a tech demo with some menus and career mode slapped on almost as an afterthought.
Some game design choices are bafflingly poor. For instance, it takes more than 15 hours of grinding to get to the cars that are actually fun to drive. The career itself starts with... Lawn mowers derby? What a snooze fest! Common! You have such an amazing physics, destruction model, and incredibly tense and dynamic races later in the game, and this is what you chose as the introduction? Seriously? :)
That said, I did have fun playing it on Steam Deck, and finished the entire career mode, but mostly as fidget game, while chatting on the phone. For that purpose it is perfect, and for that I recommend it. As a full-dedication big screen experience? I'm not so sure, really
In my opinion, the game Wreckfest is a classic. My checklist for a gaming classic is games having great replay value, a game never feeling old or outdated, and games still giving its players surprises years later. a few games I call classics are Red Dead 1 & 2, GTA series, Mario Kart, Golden Eye, Half-Life, Dead Space, Tekken 3, Gran Turismo, RC Pro Am for NES, Zelda, MegaMan, Mike Tyson's PunchOut, Double Dribble, etc..
Anyway, If you're a BeamNG.drive fan like me and love the crash physics of BeamNG then Wreakfest is what you want. Best entertainment is how you can smash your car up and smash other cars around you its the best stress reliever.
Very fun and accurate on the damage and fun to play with friends that make you mad sometimes
incredibly addicting and a great game for my son to just mess around and have fun on
very fun game even without a controller or steering wheel, some people on the community servers are a bit weird though so be aware of that
this game feels so sterile compared to bugbear's older games like flatout 2. call me nostalgic but the music and visuals are so dull, it feels like any other modern racing game and even the physics don't really set it apart from other racing games that much.
Got sandwiched between a big rig and a school bus with a snow plow and exploded. 10/10.
if you where to combine racing with dark souls THIS IS THAT GAME
dont get it if you expect updates its prety much inactive from the devs but people still play it
Great game and super fun. Graphics are amazing
This game is awesome!
I thought it would destroy my (mediocre) sim racing skills, but appently, it DOESNT, none of the arcady titles mess with my "real"sim condition at all.
Rather, Wreckfest adds another dimension to my enthusiasm for motorsport simulations. This is for FUN, not for serious competition only. It integrate easily with multi-monitor setups, Controller-assignment are are breeze to set up.
I wish it had a VR mode, native TrackIR support, telemetry for Sim Hub and motion rigs, ... hopefully in version 2... lets see
The musical background score is exactly my taste of music! Bloody AWEESOME
Cant wait for Wreckfest 2.....
Game is fun but the netcode in this game is absolute dog shit, unplayable at times
Personally I would not recommend if your playing outside of multiplayer. For the most part the AI drives like any other AI in any other game minus the part where they have any disregard of other drivers when rounding corners. In my opinion the AI doesn't drive Agressive/reckless enough. Nor do they drive different lines, as they will all default to the same driving line. Which honestly makes playing with them the same as any other racing game. All I'm saying for a game about wrecking, the AI drive very safe, and don't provide a challenge for a player outside of I need a better a lap time. I would honestly love it, if in wreckfest 2 they make the AI combative, as that will add a new challenge, and make them more interesting to race against.
Wreckfest is a great arcade racing game, that is a bit like a simulator, with realistic collision physics.
The game has Career, Custom Event, and Tournament, which are single-player, where Tournament requires an internet connection, and Multiplayer where you can join one of the many private servers hosted by fans.
There is a large selection of cars to choose from, ranging from slow acceleration class C to fast acceleration class A. The cars can be configured in terms of Performance, Armor, and Visual. There is also Paint Shop and Tuning options for every car.
Wreckfest has Banger Racing and Demolition Derby as its two main game modes, and these two modes are repeated in both single-player and Multiplayer. They are fun, but can get a bit repetitive.
Overall, I recommend this game to anyone interested in an arcade racer that is straight to the point, since Wreckfest has neither an open world map nor a story.
It's one of those things, both love and hate it. Spent 2k hours across different platforms. Wreckfest has a changed engines and physics a few times. Been out for ten or so years and still got a hundred to a few hundred regulars playing online. Check the wfservertracker website for live servers, playercount and records for cars, tracks, and players.
Spent alot of time on xbox version (Can you imagine a lobby with 16 players all talking shit via voice chat instead of text like on pc? pc has 24 player limit unlike console's 16) And pc is so, so much better but with more trolls and questionable racers. Some really good folks that are willing to give tips and pointers though..
Lots of corner cutters, physics exploiters, and a handful of clear cheaters. The devs know about that, and have precautions to prevent or clear a lap time from making it onto the leaderboard. What to know how i know? I had many wr on xbox that got removed because i cut too far out of track? And yes im salty, because i have the pleasure of watching other people cut entire sections of map, but my time gets removed if i go out of track with one wheel ;'v) . OR i have to beat my time again, (hidden #1 because invisible corner cut) So i have to get a good lap time inside the track (invisible out of bounds markers) to post a time on the board and be shown, yet other racers can cut parts of track or wall ride and their times are fine and still posted. ;'v)
Dlc was great until they added cars that are not banger racing. Not to mention OP cars that literally dominate the leaderboards in every class. "But, but, just get good." I have had 15 concurrent wr on xbox in A-class prior to the release of new cars. "no u" Any smooth brain can press w with auto shift and be faster than 90 percent of competition with the three main cars. "Why don't you?" I'd play forza if i want to drive a damn corvette or japanese rally car. Raiden isn't a banger, Super venom isn't a banger, Hammerhead RS isn't a banger. No one is buying a new car with lights, glass, seats to race in these types of races this game was modeled after.. The joke stuff like harvester and toy cars. Stupid. Could have had so many cool cars but we get a breakable portable toilet. "Take my money hand over fist because "haha poop machine go brrrr" Did the devs forget their original vision? Did they forget where they started and took their ideas? The one pack of ornaments and one pack of tires was nice, but could have added more than that. Too much work for a nation that goes on vacation 2-4 months of the year and gets paid for it?
They changed textures and removed options after buying dlc. Dishonesty and shame at it's best. (Removed some japanese flag for some reason, Changed a paint job from "full re-t-a-rd" to "full send")
DON'T MAKE SOMETHING THEN SELL IT AND GO "OOPS CHANGED MY MIND!" "SORRY ABOUT OFFENSIVE LANGUAGE/ICON. SRY K THX 4 UR $ BYE" Pathetic.
All the servers with any amount of players are end user hosted. Like getting kicked from the only server with players because you're too fast? How about lobbies that bully everyone with endless /votekick. Or zero chat filter left to be moderated by the player hosted servers. When some servers are labeled "Poopsock" there ain't no savin you here son, it's all unfiltered just like my gallon jug of gamer fluids.
Not looking forward to pay to win cars and another garbage tournament mode that takes months of dailies to get some trash that will get readjusted because 1000000 credits is "too hard" to get. Lot of neat designs but then when you play enough there are a bunch of repeating textures, wheels, missing or broken things. Things that are fixable in thirty seconds in blender or whatever engine they use but still an issue, even when reported years and years later? They had many years to iron this out or expand. Dev troubles? Publisher troubles? Or just laziness? A bit of everything really, looking into the history of bugbear.
Save your money time, and sanity for Wreckfest 2. If you are new, it's not really worth it unless you want something different than what you've already played. Online is rough to start, but can be fun. Servers are either smash and crash or JUST racing. PICK ONE NOT BOTH.
Yes. it's been a tough ride. I miss the buildings on flat oval that were destructible with explosive barrels inside, or the one race where half go one way and half go the other way on large oval. The amount of damage the cars could obtain compared to now. i remember the forums complaining about the "console peasants" and the changes made to the game. I played this lovely garbage since 2014. "next car game", the original music still haunts me. I want to go back and listen after coming home from work and cracking the beer thats now outlawed in my city (haha yeah, outlaw a very specific beer because the homeless and their trash (spoiler; it didn't stop homeless they just changed to another)) I dont have 5 or even 10k hours like some terminally online folk have but this game was and is still fun.
Seems like more of a rant than a review, Eh. who cares. If i put "its ok" or " my partner will buy me 100 grains of sand if this post gets one snot rocket." it would get views.
I bought this game back when it was in early access, as NextCarGame (you can still see it on some of the game files lol) I think it was always a bit much for the PC I had, as it kinda ran like junk. As I upgraded the GPU it got better, but I never really cracked into it, as the load times kinda detracted from it a bit on top of performance issues stemming from an antiquated CPU.
Anyway, I finally upgrade my PC to something with a new CPU, and an m2 ssd. On a whim I think to give Wreckfest a try to see how it plays. Holy crap, this game is an absolute blast. The m2 drive drops load times to more than acceptable short bursts of a few seconds at track changes, and I have no frame drops, keeping a solid 60fps at 4k. The game is gorgeous, the damage modeling is awesome, and the feeling of just ramming into someone as you take a corner, causing them to wreck in spectacular manner and you speed off leaving a nice jam for the cars behind you? Absolutely baller.
I've not bought much of the DLC, but the daily tournaments demoing some of it sold me on at least one piece of it. The big VW bug with punk spikes all over it really did the selling, but I'd say grab that along with this.
Bottom Line: If you like a racing experience where you're not penalized, but encouraged to beat the snot out of your other racers, this is going to be right up your alley. Provided you have a solid enough PC to run it, SSD/m2 drives needed.
Genuinely a great racing game. I bought the game thinking it was about destroying other vehicles, but that is only a small port of it. A fun part, but still, it is about besting other drivers by any means. You can drive cleanly to win a race or you can drive like an SUV mom. The only things I don't like about the game is the lack of being able to create your own championship/series/league, no real career mode and the music. The music is dreadful after hearing the same few songs so many times. Really bad. Anyway, the game is good and there are plenty of custom things to download.
Great game, be weary the campaigns no longer work and the game is no longer developed. Mods are fun.
This is a good game but the problem is that whenever i try using a mod either the game crashes or it just doesnt work
Have you ever wanted to be in a demolition derby, but couldn't for some reason. That ends here. This game is beautifully made. It's got a great mix of destruction and racing. Not enough for you? Go to the Steam workshop and download some mods. This is Flatout, but waaaaaaayyyyyyy better!
Absolutely love this game! Even if you don't like racing games, Wreckfest is still worth playing because its not just a racing game, its a demolition derby game. The graphics are pretty good and the game does a good job with the damage physics. However, I had some trouble getting the game to work properly on my PC and found that other people were having similar problems. I ended up having to play the game in a smaller windowed screen just to get the game to play at a decent frame rate. Overall, still a really great game, can't wait for Wreckfest 2!
Fantastic game. This is one of those games you can wreck out in and still come back to win. By the last lap most of the track is destroyed and littered with the burning wreckage of your opponents. Great game for those looking to have fun, knock into one another, and get pretty goofy at times.
POS game. Awful handling, worse looking cars and frustrating AI. They give you shitty cars with barely any upgrades and ask you to outperform while being slammed on all sides. This game is a joke.
Good with mods though. 5 hours in and I fucking despise this game w/ out mods.
Brilliant Game, always great smashing into other cars and having mind numbing fun
it's good game but i wish they can add more different race tracks and off road tracks and use construction equiptment to wreak on here like payloader cement trucks dump trucks dozers and even farm equiptment to it
"Wreckfest" is a unique racing game that stands out in the crowded world of car simulators and arcade racers. Developed by Bugbear Entertainment and released by THQ Nordic, the game marries destruction, physics-based crashes, and strategic racing in ways that many games have attempted but few have achieved. It is, in essence, a chaotic yet deeply satisfying combination of racing, smashing, and tactical vehicle handling that offers players an exhilarating experience every time they fire it up.
The Evolution of Destruction: From Early Access to a Fully Fledged Game
"Wreckfest" had a long developmental journey, starting its life in early access in 2014. What’s fascinating about this title is the level of refinement it achieved through community feedback and iterative improvements during this period. Initially known as "Next Car Game," Bugbear Entertainment embraced player input, fine-tuning almost every aspect of the game – from car physics to the overall gameplay experience – to deliver what we have today.
By the time it officially launched in 2018, "Wreckfest" had blossomed into something truly special. Over the years, it has only gotten better, with constant updates, new features, downloadable content (DLC), and fresh game modes being added. This dedication to quality has solidified its place as a fan-favorite, especially among players who love the thrill of smashing cars while maintaining a competitive racing edge.
Gameplay – The Perfect Marriage of Strategy and Chaos
"Wreckfest" excels by offering a wide variety of events and gameplay modes, making sure that the fun never gets stale. At its core, the game is about demolition racing. But what sets it apart from your typical arcade racer is its blend of tactical driving and wanton destruction.
Destruction Derby Mode – The standout mode that many players gravitate towards is the destruction derby. Here, the objective isn’t just about finishing first; it’s about surviving, often at the expense of your opponents. Cars are thrown into massive arenas or confined spaces, and the result is pure automotive carnage. From light taps to full-on head-on collisions, the damage model is beautifully detailed. Cars get bent, twisted, and broken in real-time, with debris littering the track as each round progresses. The thrill of smashing into another vehicle and watching it crumple never gets old.
Racing Mode – However, for players who prefer the thrill of speed with a side of chaos, the traditional racing modes offer plenty of excitement. Unlike other racing games where the goal is to have a clean run to the finish line, in "Wreckfest," even a standard race can turn into a demolition derby. It’s not uncommon to see the first lap dominated by sleek, pristine vehicles, only to have the final lap filled with smoking, battered wrecks barely making it to the finish line. The fact that you must balance the desire for speed with the need for survival adds a deep layer of strategy that most racing games lack.
Career Mode – The game’s single-player career mode offers plenty of longevity and variety. As you progress through different levels, you’ll face a range of challenges, from traditional races to more destructive events. The career mode does an excellent job of mixing things up, keeping players engaged by frequently switching up objectives, vehicles, and tracks. Along the way, you earn experience points and in-game currency to upgrade and customize your cars.
Challenge Events – One of the most fun aspects of "Wreckfest" is the plethora of challenge events. These quirky, hilarious, and often over-the-top events let you race or smash up unconventional vehicles like riding lawn mowers, school buses, and even combine harvesters. It’s in these moments that the game fully embraces its chaotic identity, letting players experience something different and break away from the standard fare of racing.
Multiplayer – Multiplayer is where "Wreckfest" really shines for many players. With dedicated servers and a large, active community, it’s easy to hop into a match and compete against others in everything from destruction derbies to traditional racing modes. The multiplayer chaos adds a whole new layer of unpredictability as human players tend to be far more aggressive and unpredictable than AI opponents. The game's superb netcode ensures that even the most hectic battles feel smooth and responsive, with very little lag affecting the overall experience.
Vehicle Physics and Damage Modeling: Where "Wreckfest" Excels
One of the game’s crowning achievements is its physics engine, which offers some of the most satisfying and realistic vehicle handling in any racing game. Bugbear has always been known for crafting excellent physics-based destruction (as seen in the "FlatOut" series), but "Wreckfest" takes it to the next level.
Every collision, crash, and fender-bender feels unique thanks to the game's soft-body damage modeling. Instead of vehicles just losing a few parts or showing cosmetic dents, crashes result in dynamic, real-time damage that impacts how your car performs. Damage to your car’s engine, suspension, and wheels all affect handling, so if you take a hard hit to the front, your car might pull to one side, or you could lose power altogether.
This damage modeling forces players to adopt a more thoughtful approach to racing. You can’t just barrel into other cars and hope to survive, especially in longer races. You must plan your attacks, choose your lines carefully, and manage the state of your vehicle. This blend of strategy and destruction is where "Wreckfest" truly shines – it’s more than just a mindless smash-em-up game; it’s a thoughtful, calculated experience.
Visuals and Track Design: Destruction in Beautiful Detail
From a visual standpoint, "Wreckfest" looks fantastic. While it might not have the ultra-realistic sheen of games like "Forza" or "Gran Turismo," its attention to detail in the way cars crumple, bend, and deform is unmatched. The damage model is visceral, and every piece of twisted metal or shattered glass feels impactful.
The track designs are another high point. Whether you're racing through traditional dirt tracks, figure-eight arenas, or creatively designed courses littered with obstacles, the game’s environments are dynamic and detailed. Every track feels handcrafted, with plenty of room for both high-speed races and chaotic crashes. Some tracks are narrow, forcing tight, aggressive competition, while others are wide-open playgrounds that encourage wild crashes and destruction. The mixture of surfaces—dirt, gravel, tarmac, and mud—also adds layers of challenge, making each race feel distinct.
Customization and Upgrades: Make It Your Own
"Wreckfest" offers an extensive car customization and upgrade system. Players can modify their vehicles not only for aesthetic purposes but also for performance. There’s a wide variety of cars to choose from, ranging from classic muscle cars to heavy-duty trucks, and each vehicle can be tweaked to suit your playstyle. Whether you want a car that’s built for speed or one that’s more durable for surviving the chaos of a demolition derby, the options are there.
The upgrade system allows players to fine-tune their vehicles with new engines, better armor, improved handling, and more. Every choice you make impacts how your car performs on the track, so the customization isn’t just cosmetic—it’s integral to success.
Sound Design and Music: Adding to the Mayhem
The sound design in "Wreckfest" is excellent, enhancing the visceral feel of each crash and collision. The roar of engines, the crunch of metal, and the shriek of tires on tarmac are all captured perfectly. When cars collide, you feel it through the sound, adding another layer of immersion to the experience.
