it would be a fun game if it didnt crash at loading screen or every 5 songs. i also find it extremely creepy how this game has characters who look 12 years old and younger in very sexually suggestive/revealing outfits, thats ignoring the amount of excessive fanservice with the main cast

it's fun. i like the artstyle and how colorful it is i just wish it didn't have so much fanservice/sexual stuff

this is easily a 7/10 rhythm game. the gameplay is unique, most comparable to taiko (although getting 100% MD achievements hasn't made me better at osu!taiko lol).

there's a bit of a language barrier, and some of the menus aren't translated. it doesn't affect the gameplay, but it means you might sometimes be confused as to how to unlock something.

i recommend this game if you already know you like rhythm games, otherwise there are maybe better ones to start with. if you play MD for a while and like it, consider buying the MD+ dlc, too.

Well...Muse dash is a vibrant and fast-paced rhythm game that combines energetic music with side-scrolling action. The game features a colorful anime girls with an overwhelming amount of fanservice and sexualized characters, which might not appeal to everyone but if u like games like that ..u will enjoy it. Despite that, the gameplay is incredibly fun, smooth, and addictive, with a great variety of songs and difficulty levels. The visuals are flashy and the character designs, while provocative, are undeniably stylish and well-animated. If you're into rhythm games and don’t mind the y anime girls aesthetic, Muse Dash is definitely worth trying:)

So listen — I downloaded Muse Dash thinking, “Oh cool, a cute little rhythm game, probably chill.” Next thing I know, I'm 50 songs deep, sweating like I’m defusing a bomb, and my fingers are moving faster than my GPA during finals week. And then BOOM — you’re in bullet hell karaoke with anime girls. Your fingers are tap dancing like they owe someone money, your eyes are vibrating trying to follow neon fruit flying at your face, and you’re 99% sure you just heard dubstep in Morse code. This game slaps — literally and musically.

The music is an absolute bopfest. One minute I’m jamming to kawaii pop, the next I’m fighting demons with dubstep. The visuals are so colorful they probably cured my seasonal depression. And the characters? Adorable. Powerful. Slightly unhinged.

Now, is it perfect? Not exactly. Sometimes the screen gets so flashy I can’t tell if I’m winning or having a small stroke. And the DLC... let’s just say my wallet started crying in rhythm too. But hey, at least the pain is synchronized to a sick beat.

Bottom line: If you like music, anime vibes, and feeling like a rhythm god (or at least a rhythm gremlin), Muse Dash will absolutely steal your time and your heart. It is chaotic, adorable, rhythm-induced madness in the best way possible. You will suffer. You will vibe. You will become one with the beat.

10/10 would button mash again.

I usually don't take the side of developers / publishers, but the entitlement some people have here is just embarrassing.
As of March 2025 the base game offers 62 songs at 3,49€ with an additional 544(!) at 32,99€ (not including future monthly updates). Due to not renewing the license, the 20 songs from the DLC packs as well as 2 characters are now unobtainable for anyone that didn't buy / receive them before being delisted.

I hope this clears up some of the (imo) unjustified hate the game received.

Originally Muse Dash was somewhat of a two part game. One being the "Main Game" which nowadays includes 62 songs which is available for 3,49€ (and goes on sale often to less than 1€). Needless to say this is already incredible value. As someone that plays a lot of different rhythm games, most of the have like 20 songs in their base game and cost at least 15€.
The second part was originally known as Muse Dash Just as Planned (DLC), which is essentially a pass which granted access to all future (content) updates. These updates came each month and consisted of on average 6 new Songs (with usually 3 difficulty settings). They also at times included new characters and elfins (something like a partner that grants bonus effects).
After a few years, the developers decided to rework the Just as Planned DLC. The rework consisted of pretty much removing the Just as Planned DLC and instead adding a replacement DLC called Muse Plus. IN ADDITION to the monthly updates, the game now was supposed to have additional DLC Packs, which consisted of high profile (usually also meaning high licensing cost) songs from well known artists.
People that had already bought the Just as Planned DLC would get these additional DLC packs for free, as this DLC was advertised to include all future updates.
People that haven't bought the Just as Planned DLC, would need to buy Muse Plus for the monthly updates, as well as the additional DLC packs. These DLC packs had 10 new songs, at least a new character and cost 7.79€ (0.78€ per song, not valuing the character, which is really cheap compared to most other rhythm game dlc songs which cost ~2€/song).

Of course there would be people complaining about it, because they wouldn't get stuff for free that other people do.
With the (mostly Chinese) community being in a complete uproar, the game was flooded with negative reviews and the developers even received death threats over it.

In the end the developers retracted their approach with the Muse Plus DLC now offering the same as the Just as Planned DLC did and releasing no more extra DLCs.
So to conclude, Muse Plus buyers get the same they had (monthly updates) and Just as Planned owners still get the monthly updates, but no more free DLC.
So to be precise, because people complained, we now receive less content, because the DLC packs, which were additional to the monthly updates, got cancelled.

everything is just so good! the game itself is just a dollar exluding the dlc. A lot of songs to play, cute, colorful, different character varieties. One of the best rhythm games out there!

I dunno if it's just an issue for my computer in specific as it runs smoothly, but I'm pretty sure I'd like the game if maybe pressing something like...oh I dunno, enter, to start the level actually worked ?? Same for going to the options and opening the sound settings only to get stuck there with no way out because 'esc' won't work either. The only buttons that do seem to work is F & J; the two buttons used to actually play the game. :/

-A fun game with a great art-style and responsive crispy controls that I can't in good conscience recommend.

-Sure the price is cheap but more than half of the available songs are songs I could not care for. Having more than 75% of your catalog locked away in a predatory DLC that replaced a more reasonable former alternative is so insane that I cant even blame the playerbase for losing it. Like I get that people need to make money but why does such a popular game need to have a DLC that is ten times more expensive than its base game. I unfortunately cannot support a publisher that I, and half the playerbase can't even trust which is such a shame because even if you ignore the unnecessary gooner aspects, it is a solid game overall :/

The base game is fine for a few hours, but music variety is mediocre. Most of the game is locked behind a DLC worth 10x the price of the game, on top of not even unlocking everything there is to offer. Feels kinda predatory.

I've been playing this game since 2018 during the mobile version release.
I bought the steam version with the Just as Planed DLC (now discontinued) giving me unlimited access to upcoming new songs (including limited collab songs), backgrounds, muses, etc.
Money well spent indeed!
Just don't complain if you suck at most charts (just like on any rhythm game).
Where everybody gotta start from scratch.
Also experience is the key *period*
A player like me can clear a difficulty 11 chart with high accuracy after hundreds of hours of playing.
If you need more songs, don't ask me where to get one 😉

I am not that good at the game. I suck at all rhythm games thats so sad. My fingers are so slow and cant catch up. I only have a few hours of playtime. I am so bad. I suck at these games: Arcaea, Osu Mania, Muse Dash, ADOFAI, SDVX, Chunithm, Cytus, Cytus 2, Deemo, Piano Tiles, Dynamix, Wacca, MAIMAI, and I definitely didnt the hardest boss of most of those games. I am so noob :(

How is muse dash lagging when I can run games like kingdom come deliverance 2 with no issues? Man, I just genuinely want to enjoy the game..

I had bought this when it was on sale, just started playing it recently. I'm not too great at rhythm games, but this one's pretty easy, yet challenging at the same time. Seems like it'd be a good start for anyone getting into rhythm games. I wish the add-on was cheaper tbh because I'd like to get it, but I don't wanna spend 35 dollars on a rhythm game I probably won't play enough to make it worth it. XD

Came back to the game after two years to realize "Just as planned" was discontinued. I am massively disappointed that I paid $25.99 for a "future-proof" DLC that was supposed to include ALL future song releases, and now am expected to pay another $34.99 to get what I originally already paid for.

Honestly this game is super fun. The characters are chef's kiss. The element of having cosmetics that actually apply boosts to score, cuteness or just any other factor of the game's mechanics is a great touch. All the music from the classic game to DLC is honestly amazing. You can curate a mood or even just slap that random button and vibe for a while. Weather its a competitive streak for leader board credit or just looking at some over the top graphics this game has it for you. Overall one of my favorite rhythm games.

This game is very easy to learn and has a plethora of music, though most of it is behind a large paywall. Sometimes there is limited time DLC but otherwise you have to pay $35 USD for a pass that allots you most content. The main issue is the Muse Plus pass and then the general NSFW content in this game. It is mostly avoidable but sometimes it obfuscates the game against your will, like some of the loading screens. Other than those issues though, this is a good game. 8/10

muse plus is $28 WHAT IS THIS - the game feels like a demo for muse plus because you have to buy plus to access all the better music, actual skins/characters and everything else. I would buy for $10 but 28 is insane. I would prefer if they just made this game cost 5 and plus cost 10.

basically no reason to not try it out. The cons list is long but its still definitely a fun game.

This is a really great game! I've been playing it for a month and the experience has been wonderful. The art style is very unique. The female anime characters are really cute, and there is also a lot of great music. It's a bit challenging, but it's definitely worth practicing!

Good as baby's first rythm game. Too easy for anyone who has played one before. Can't justify paying 40$ for something that offers little challenge. Its still fun.

Genuinely one of my favorite rhythm games. Gameplay-wise it's incredibly simple to get down but they manage to make something as simple as up and down difficult as hell at times and immensely satisfying all the time. However it's the visuals that either sell or push people away. It's bright, it's colorful, and there is a bit of degeneracy in some of the character designs (or like half of them I guess), but the quality of the art and animation is exceptional. If you like what you see, you won't be disappointed. Lastly, and the most obviously important part of a rhythm game, the music is fantastic. It's exactly the kind of music you'd expect just from looking, and if you're a fan of that sort of eurobeat, j-pop and straight up dubstep, then you'll like the music you'll find in this game.

Overall: the music's great, the gameplay is satisfying, and the visuals reign above all major competition.

this game is i would say like a beginner-friendly for people who are starting to play rhythm games, this game only let's you play with 2 notes, which is F, which goes upwards, And J, which goes downwards, i wouldn't recommend this game to somebody who is 12 and below without an adult view because it contains some kind of nudity, but other than that THIS GAME IS GOATED

I love this game but it is a tough one to recommend. First off, if you get put off by 'anime weirdness', you should avoid this game. I'm also not sure how monetization is now, I bought the no longer available Just as Planned DLC that gave me all DLCs current and future. I am not sure how much content is in the base game and how expensive DLC can be so you should look into that before purchasing.
But I love the game. Gameplay is pure rhythm game, only 2 lanes, simple but satisfying. While there is some questionable artistic content (that you can disable on a case by case basis), overall I like the art direction. It is colorful and energetic. I absolutely LOVE the cat versions of the characters, the 'sloppy' animation is so nice. Music is also what you can expect from an anime rhythm game: very anime sounding songs, EDM, meme songs, songs purposefully made for rhythm games.
Overall I recommend the game because if you ended up on this page, you probably are looking for a rhythm game and are ok with anime visuals. If that is you, this is a great game.

Muse Dash is such a unique rhythm game from the play-style to the art, everything about it is absolutely AMAZING!! There's a wide variety on songs and a bunch of different varying genres especially if you buy the packs (which I HIGHLY recommend), and the mapping on most of the songs is genuinely amazing, with a few exceptions of course. Muse Dash has to be one of the only rhythm games I'm able to consistently play without getting bored of, so if anyone is into rhythm games I'd HIGHLY recommend checking this game out :^] One other thing I absolutely love is there's a toggle in the setting which removes copyrighted audio that can get you in trouble on streams and videos, so for any content creators out there that is extremely helpful! :^D
My one complaint though has to be the fact there are a lot of suggestive art pieces in this game which I get it, it's not a kids game, but I still would have to say that I wish there was a toggle to turn that option off.
