Beatable in under and hour, hand drawn, eerie music, a fun name and character, not-so-easy obstacles and gems to collect (I was able to get 60, not certain if that's all of them). This games wasn't at all bad. For an under-an-hour challenge try this one. I got it on sale and it was worth the money.
Jellyfish the Ghost is yet another of literally thousands of 2D retro pixel platformers infesting Steam and lowering the average quality of all video games everywhere. It's published by known asset flip scammers, meokigame, who are famous for stealing the work of others without credit and trying to scam gamers into paying them for it.
This time we have an incredibly lazy Unity platformer, badly assembled with some hand drawn paper "art" (that as far as I know meokigame probably stole from someone else, with their prior history of offenses it's impossible to tell what's real and what's fake). You control a ghost and jump around platforms collecting biro drawn diamonds and avoiding spikes, etc. Same as every other platformer except this one is worse, because it's not a sincere attempt to make a game.
Randell Lynch/meokigame have a known history of trying to scam people into paying them money for someone else's work. An example of Randell Lynch/meokigame doing this is HUNTER BRICK BALL, which is really "Original Ballz : brick breaker demolition game - shoot the balls and break the blocks", written by the actual developers, Aleksa Racovic. Also, Range Ball, which is really "Break Blocks", developed by Pointless Clouds.
Taking this shovelware seriously as if it was a genuine attempt to make a game, it doesn't meet basic minimum requirements that most PC gamers expect as standard.
The artwork here is terrible, it's a blend of old retro pixel "art" used as a substitute for contemporary PC graphics, and some of the most amateurish MS-Paint style drawings (I won't deign to call these "illustrations"). It's unclear if this is due to lack of budget to arrange someone who can do graphics properly, or lack of talent, regardless, the overall visual quality of the game is extremely low as a result of these decisions.
There's no options to change the resolution for the game or customise the graphics settings. There's no way for gamers to ensure this is running at the native resolution of their displays... there's no guarantee this game will look right on any PC as a result of this hamfisted design decision. There's no way for gamers to try improve the low quality graphics.
The controls can't be customised, which will be an annoyance for many, but it can also render the game unplayable for differently-abled gamers.
While this is on PC, it has all the hallmarks and deficiencies of a console game, from the clunkier than needed control scheme to the less than cutting edge graphics. There's 10's of thousands of PC games on Steam, and PC gamers deserve only the best. This might not appeal to many gamers due to the lack of PC-centric design. It's unclear why this game was never accepted on the video game console appliances it seems to have been designed for.
These technical defects push this game below acceptable standards for any modern PC game.
The poor quality of this game is reflected in the general public reception. At the time of this review, SteamDB shows the all-time peak player number was only 2 players. That's right, only 2. This is a remarkably low number, and now, the only player activity occurs once or twice a month, presumably someone loading it up to see what it is then quickly uninstalling it. Considering there's over 120 million gamers on Steam and well over 50,000 games for gamers to choose from, the overwhelming lack of interest in the game is to be expected. Gamers just didn't take this low quality game seriously, and for good reason.
Jellyfish the Ghost is relatively cheap at $1 USD, but it's not worth it. Given the defects and quality issues with the game, coupled with the unrealistic price and the unethical nature of the developer, this is impossible to recommend.
This game is pure art, nothing I can say about this masterpiece can describe the amount of euphoria i get while playing this game. 11/10 masterpiece
Cute little game. Probably won't take you long to finish, but it's a pleasant way to pass a little time, and the ending made me smile.
THIS IS LITERALLY THE BEST GAME TO JUST CHILL OUT WITH. $0.50 and it's a quick 10 minute party game with friends. ;) let everyone take a try.
Very cute game. i wish i had the talent to make something like this at 8 years old! Great job. i Recommend it!
