Saddle Up to Defend the Realm On Dino-back!
Once a humble farmer’s child, you’ve been accepted into Queen Isobel's Rangers: brave knights who patrol the kingdom of Pascalia on scaly beasts. But just as you receive your own dino and begin your career as a knight-ranger, you discover evil forces are converging to destroy the Queen, and Pascalia itself.
DinoKnights is a 177,000-word interactive fantasy novel by K.T. Bryski, where your choices control the story. It's entirely text-based—without graphics or sound effects—and fueled by the vast, unstoppable power of your imagination.
Enemies and terrifying foes surround you: but whom should you fear most? The Dread Wizard Sargossa, raising an army of un-dead dragons, or an enemy much closer to the court—the Queen's own sister, Ermessen? And what about your burgeoning talent for magic? Will you hone your powers to save your village and fight Sargossa? With a dinosaur at your side and sword in hand—the realm’s fate rests on you!
- Play as male, female, or non-binary; gay, straight, or ace.
- Choose one of six different dinosaurs as your steed, including allosaurus, triceratops, and velociraptor!
- Foil a palace coup—or join it, instead!
- Hit the training yard with your dino, or spend your time cozying up to nobles and mages.
- Find love with the royal heir, a charming bard, or a powerful mage!
- Discover your secret, magical heritage.
- Fight to save your own home village from destruction.
- Defend the poorest peasants, or win fame in Royal Tournaments.
Evil is waking, and Pascalia needs you. Will you and your dinosaur answer the call?

A truly fantastic little text RPG
It's ok. Not great, not bad. Get it on sale if the concept really intrigues you. The writing reminds me a great deal of YA fiction aimed at the early teens. Transitions between scenes are abrupt, and there are several occasions when you have like five or six errands to run and an entire day in which to do them, but you are nevertheless limited to picking just one of them - the rest you ignore. Like, seriously, does it take all that long to go have conversations with four or five people in a castle before going to receive your next orders? You have to talk to one of them only?
Also, and this is light spoilers, but you serve the Queen and there is an assassination plot against her. It's incredibly obvious from the first moment you learn about the plot exactly who is behind it, but your dumbass character (and the rest of the kingdom) are blind to it even when your character gets offered numerous opportunities to turn traitor and join the conspiracy. What's more, even after you foil like 3 or 4 assassination attempts, you get offered options in later parts of the story that go like "Yes, it is time to strike! We will bring down the Queen!" and it's like, come on, have a little awareness of the decisions I have made up to this point and present me with more than one "loyal" choice. There seem to be 4 different routes and half a dozen ROs, and almost every decision is really just "Which route are you on" and "Which RO are you pursuing" and not much more.
Anyway, it's ok. Not great. I'd say one of the weaker titles from CoG but by no means terrible. Solidly mediocre.
Good game, characters are kind of flat, and it's short but all in all a good game for a good price.
based
Predictable in story line but in a charming way. It reminds me of those old RPG games, with the mages, dragons, evil sorcerers and stuff. I suggest it if you like dinosaurs and fantasy!
A very cute, entertaining and wonderful little text-based adventure game. It took me 3 hours to play through the story once and I will definitely be replaying to see what other courses you can take through the story and other endings you can have.
Def 10/10 recommend for the dinosaurs, especially the interactions you have with your bonded dinosaur, as well as the diversity offered by the story. I could easily play as a bisexual non-binary character with a female romance, and recruited another non-binary friend. There are multiple opportunities for romances but also options which indicate that your character isn't interested in romance which I thought was really nice.
There were some points in the story where things felt quite rushed, especially in the last few chapters, and I would have liked a bit more in-depth narrative as well as some choices which I didn't take but which felt like they were left hanging in the narrative, so it would have been nice for some of those choices to feel resolved further down the line. Overall though this was a really wholesome story and a good option for my first proper game of this type.
I don't have so much to say on this one. The theme is cool and the writing is cute but that's really all there is to it. The story lacks depth, the characters are shallow and mostly useless, the romances are forced and the developement of the villains seems weird and uninteresting. The only character I found interesting was Dreadbone the suffering and complaining dreadful and skeletal dragon.
Still, I enjoyed reading it but that's because I like to read cute (and also because I really like dinosaurs, but even that does'nt seems developped lol), straightforward and simple things from time to time. I would actually put a "recommend" on this one but only for people who wants to read something simply enjoyable while not thinking too much.
Well this was surprisingly good.
Make no mistake, this is a smaller Choice of Games...game. As such, its a much smaller story, there aren't as many branches, and the characters aren't as fleshed out.
None of that really mattered much to me because for the duration, everything was good. Sure all of those things I mentioned could have been, well, more but it didn't take away from what we had.
Most importantly, it managed something that I feel too many other Choice of Games stories struggle with: stats. Most other games can get infuriating as you try to figure out wtf stat a certain choice is supposed to represent, and whether or not your stat in that will be high enough. Then when you inevitably try and fail the author's exacting standards, you start to feel like a pathetic failure who's stuck on rails despite your best efforts.
This game felt pretty clear as to what stats were being checked against, and I didn't feel like a pathetic failure the whole way through.
If you're looking for a shorter and lighter choose your own adventure game, this one is definitely worth it with the right amounts of charm, world building, and actually decent gameplay.
The story is weak and short. The characters are two-dimensional and have nothing significant you can relate to. Also as a straight female you can only have two romance options, one is a spoilt brat who ignores you in the ball and thinks the world is all about him, and another is a squimish and socially ackward boy who is boringly predictable. Doesn't worth my time nor my money.
Its sadly short, about 3 or 4 hours to finish. But its a fun story to go through, i did my best to be a loyal, honest and honorable man in the service of my queen. I really felt a connection to the characters i interacted with often and tho i am interested in the other options this game offer i am happy with how it ended. I hope for a continued story just as good as this some day just longer if possible.
A rather short Novel and not that many different choices (compared to Choice of Robots) but none the less a good written story, with interesting ways to go, even if the romance/love interest routes feels forced.
If you like dinos, dragons, magic and a evil wizard you might want to read this.
(took me about 1h to go through the Story)
A shorter Choice game, it still has its charm. I found myself really being interested in the lore of the Dinosaurs and Kingdom, although I was left wanting more. I havnt seen all the endings, but I think I still have an idea of the depth of the game.
A few mistakes, one where it said I had an Allosaurus when I instead had a Pachycephalosaurus. But thats not a big mistake, and neither were the others, so not a reason to not recommend.
Over all a nice short quirky story and I recommend for those who are interested in dinosaurs or medivial fantasy.
