A Word From The Dev
"Vambrace: Cold Soul is a love letter to the games that left their indelible marks on us. It's inspired by the gothic fantasy of Castlevania, the deep lore of series like The Elder Scrolls, the replayability of roguelites like FTL: Faster Than Light, and the sweeping, character-driven epics of our favorite JRPGs. It represents our effort to seize those varied elements and condense them into an interactive experience players from all walks (especially masochists) will enjoy!"

The story of the game is interesting. There are a few things I don't find really appealing there, but the story works.
The gameplay itself feels very tedious and the combat isn't really fun. It feels like Darkest Dungeons, but clunkier, slower, less engaging and less fun.
I got it while it was on sale and I'm thankful for that. I wouldn't recommend anyone buy it. It's just not that fun.
Sadly I can't recommend the game.
The art is so beautiful, the scenery, the setting is great and there are tons of skins for your MC to unlock and they're all so great, it shows they've worked really hard on it.
Gameplay is too boring, combat is no fun at all and there is very little diversity in skills. Traveling around is confusing, it took me a long time to make sense of the overworld map and understand where I was supposed to go. If you want to unlock everything in your codex and craft recipes you'll have to waste your time checking multiple times every single room in town, which are many. For skins you'll need to complete the game multiple times going for specific routes in the main story and sidequests.
The story is actually good enough and there is a good diversity in characters and races, choosing my party was hard because I liked everyone, they all have some little unique dialogs.
Decent enough game. They did really good for the art, characters and the atmosphere. Gameplay wasn't amazing or awful, just functional. The story as well was kinda meh but the lore building was pretty interesting.
I like the idea of Darkest Dungeon, but with more story focused and beautiful art. What I dont like is no real roguelike mechanics or RPG mechanics - meaning that there is no possible way to get better, apart from buying new equipment. For example, I went through the whole dungeon to confront first boss, and it wiped my whole party, alright then. I thought I will get better things and try again, well, all the money I had was used just to buy health items to make it to the boss again and it wiped me again. And again, and again. Party members do not get better, my hero does not get better playing the game, all you can hope for is to make some money for better item, but buying that does not guarantee even low percent of success.
A decent RPG with very slight roguelike elements. The story and world building is interesting. I really enjoyed it, but I can't recommend it without some caveats. There's just not enough room for experimentation with team bulding with being forced to bring along the main character in every run and not having space for extra units. I mostly only played the same team composition during my playthroughs. Event variety in runs is also a bit lacking and gets repetitive. Other than that, I enjoyed the game fine, it's a fun adventure, but it could have used some extra juice in the form of DLC or an expansion that added content, or a new game plus mode so you could make the main character super OP for fun. There's really no point in putting poins in anything other than damage at first, since the other relevant stats can get taken care of by team members.
I love the art style, and I'm thrilled the game is being followed up on with a sequel of sorts, even if tower defense is not really my cup of tea, I'm interested because I enjoyed this game enough.
A decent game held back by pervasive mediocrity and a lot of annoying design choices. Nothing about the game besides the art really stands out at all. The story serves its purpose but isn't anything special, the music is fine but forgettable, and the gameplay is fun at first but basically doesn't evolve at all, getting very repetitive and tedious by the end. This is made worse by the fact that there isn't a real sense of progression throughout the game. Your characters don't level up, besides the protagonist, who gets a couple of skill points each chapter, and the only way of making other party members stronger is by giving them relics, which there aren't very many of and anyway are rarely more interesting than a flat stat change. Nobody learns new skills, you don't unlock new classes of recruitable characters, and combat winds up being identical at the end of the game to how it was at the beginning.
This game markets itself as a roguelike but isn't really one - you have to complete each area in one go or be sent back to the beginning, and encounters and such are randomly generated, but it's very much story-driven and feels more like a regular RPG. The dungeon crawling itself, like the combat, starts fun but gets very tedious by the end. The art is nice but the areas all look the same up to the end of the game, and your party moves agonizingly slowly on the map. At a certain point the sense of tension that the game is clearly going for is just completely replaced by frustrating monotony, particularly when you die to a boss and have to slog your way through an hour of nothing-gameplay just to get back to where you were.
The only interesting thing you'll gain as you progress are the costumes, which are actually all very nice-looking and it's a lot of fun trying to get them all. Not only do they change how the protagonist looks in-game, but also her dialogue portraits, which was a great touch especially because poses for different emotions can sometimes be very different from costume to costume.
Unfortunately while the protagonist has a lot of different appearances, your other party members don't, which gets very noticeable by the end. There are about 10 different classes, each one having around 3-4 possible appearances and maybe 7-8 possible names, ending up giving you a lot of potential recruits that look the same or have the same name or both. With both this and the fact that members of each class all have the same stats, making the only gameplay difference between them a single randomized skill that usually doesn't end up mattering, they end up feeling more like clones pulled out of a vat than actual people. In a game like this where your companions die a lot, a little more variety would have been welcome.
This isn't really a bad game, just a very middling one. The overall ideas are great, but most weren't realized to their full potential, or, really any potential beyond the bare minimum. I do wish it was better but probably will forget about it relatively soon.
Lovely 2D dungeon crawler with light survival elements. The strongest aspects of the game are its visuals, atmosphere and worldbuilding. The artstyle is fantastic, everything looks gorgeous and detailed, and most characters (from playable to NPCs and enemies) are beautifully designed. The writing is good, and even if the overall story is not something super special or unique, it's still above average because the dialogue is well written. What really kept me engaged though, were the tons of interesting characters that appear throughout the story. The effort put into the lore of the game's world is also very impressive. Sometimes you'll have to make decisions that will actually affect some of the characters storylines, unique items you unlock and the ending you get.
The game absolutely does not deserve the current "mixed" review score. I see a lot of players giving it a negative review just because, in their opinion, this is not as good as other games from the same genre, which I don't think is fair at all. This game might not be the best of its kind, but it's still a good game, with a lot of love put into it.
It is so what ever and it dosnt work half the time
