Just bought this game yesterday and in my opinion it's an okay game for the .89 cents i spent on it. Not worth the $2.99 tho. the game isn't that bad for me to give it a dislike but it could sure use some work. First off the music is not fitting for this kinda game, The Music should be more intense and scary. There should be sounds for the Dinosaurs, Zombies, and other creatures in the game to add to the suspense and overall feeling of the game. The stamina bar depletes too fast, and our health gets wiped out too quickly. 2 to 3 hits from the enemy and your dead. This can get rather frustrating at times especially since the uptempo music is playing and there's no sound from the creatures they can easily get you from behind. Your character should be able to crouch, aim down sights and have use of melee weapons as well. I won't uninstall this game yet but will wait to see if the developers will put out any updates to make an okay game an even better game.
I like the games look and the fps tower defense concept.
A few simple things I think would really help the game out-
1) More sounds. All you really hear is music and gunfire... monster noises and perhaps more ambient stuff to add atmosphere would be pretty cool and I think the games style would lend itself well to it.
2)More feedback from the game. At first it was super staggering to play this game. All of a sudden monsters are all up on me. The way the game tells you waves are progressing is kinda subtle and lacks efficiency as well as flavor. Add a cool sound as a wave starts or ends to let the player easily know whats going on. A good example would be COD Nazi Zombie mode.
I think these 2 things would help add a lot of life to the game. Everything kinda feels static and dead but it wouldn't take much to really enhance it and make it immersive. I'm going to leave it at that as the game is fun and that's the most important aspect that needs improvement imo.
i enjoy this game is some sorta defense fps with arcade elements :)
GARBAGE
Uses music as a replacement for any sound emissions from enemies at all, so they sneak up behind you, killing you in 2 hits or so. There isn't even any sound to let you know you got hit, like it's the '70s or something. Turrets also explode after 2 hits, wasting the precious resources youo have to walk through dark corridors to find, often unable to see even 20 feet ahead. Walk, not sprint, because the pathetically low stamina pool must be saved for when it's absolutely necessary, times you usually have about a second's warning for , before you must have killed the enemy, else you die 2 seconds later. Then you run out of ammo, because the dev is def a masochist and only gives 200 smg bullets at the start, and turrets of course don't last, so you're screwed.
All of this makes for a lowfi RNGfest that RNGesus would banish to the fiery depths of Redmond.
I've wanted a turret defense FPS for a decade or so, but THIS AIN'T IT, BOYS.
2/10, would never buy again from this dev, $2.99 wasted
DELET THIS
have you ever wanted to oneshot dinosaurs that run the same path for all eternity?
have you ever wanted to place three turrets to become immortal?
you ever wanted to play a game so unbelievably broken its playable?
this game is great if you want to die in two seconds of spawning in, or never die because you hit the turret limit for nothing gets through. or you could simply sprint like an infant that has eaten to much sugar but can maintain the speed.
i have four hours in this game and i dont know why
Have to say, this game has grown on me. I initially gave it a negative review, but I went back to it, and discovered that like some of my favorite games, you don't lose things you have gained when you die. Once you have gained a weapon or tower type, you keep it! It gives the game a sense of progress I find appealing.
Mind you, it is still a game about dying, the towers are still fragile as egg shells, but at least you can improve.
If you do give this game a try, be sure to cycle thru the different maps, I find the third one the best, as far as finding good places to try and make your hopeless last stand.
NOTE: The second map, for me, has a problem. When you die, it doesn't reset, and I have to close out. That might just be me, but for now I am skipping that map.
NOTE: The game may no longer be being supported, which is a shame because it promises more levels "coming soon". Just so you know.
Simplicity is key to making a great indie game :), this game is addictive in the true definition, like a drug, I must get that 1000 kills!.
Pretty fun game. You get XP for killing enemies, but the maximum level is only 10 at the moment. When you reach the MAX level you see the text "levels 10-20 coming soon".
This was actually an interesting game to play.
It makes you realise some of the things you take for granted in a modern shooter.
The enemies don't make any sound, either when moving or attacking, and you don't take any damage when you are injured.
Also there is no indication for when you take damage other than your health bar going down,
unlike the screen effects for damage we are now used to,
like red arrows at the edges of the screen to show you where damage is coming from.
All this makes you feel unconnected to what is happening in the game,
and you often drop dead seemingly for no reason,
simply because the game doesn't give you any of the above feedback to know where enemies are coming from and when you are being attacked.
Most enlightening.
I will now apply for a refund.
WARNING: at date of this review, this game is just a beta version in development, not a finished product. It has a nice concept, but mechanics and gameplay need a lot of work to be interesting.
Graphics of monsters are decent, but they are too fast and quiet, and mix dinosaurs with zombies and mutants is shabby. Player can be killed by 2 or 3 hits of any common foe, has not armour or skills, and changing weapons system is clumsy because not implement mouse wheel. Turrets are weak too, not shows their taked damage, cannot be repaired, and there isn't an ingame pause to select and place them but space requirements are uncertain, so planning effective defenses is impossible, and many times the player get killed while trying emplace a turret. Items aren't upgradable, all power ups desapair quickly... and so on.
Has only 3 maps, that feels flat and dull, and when player gets all unblocked items he has not reason to continue: actually to get 100% achievements takes about 3 hours. This game should be really published and sell as "Early Access" and by this reason is cannot recommedable to buy it in its current state. Sorry devs.
I played "Firestarter", I played "Bet on Soldier", I even tried to play "Kreed" and "Albedo" but nothing prepared me for this. No controls documented, no mouse speed adjustment, basically nothing configurable. Interface/game logic/resources/weapons: not explained, not documented. No 3D sound, no enemy steps. No map. I dont even see a volumetric light shown in the screenshots. No wonder an all time peak was 6 players at the same time. This IS NOT even early access, it is presented as a full game. Only the idea was good....
Yes.
Suggestion:
Add Window Borderless.
Be able to scrap Turrets placed for 25-35% of the price (or half if you want) that you spent to build it.
Example; Tier 1 = 100, refund =30/40/50 Materials maybe they go up once you level up or something. - Possible to make a skill system out of this.
Add the option to change the options whilst in-game, once in game you can't adjust the audio unless you die or quit (One in the same in terms of needing to change the options in game).
cant think of anything else RN, will edit once i get more hours.
- Overall (AT TIME OF REVIEW.)
It's a good game, has a chance to shine, honestly i bought it on sale and its worth the 70 something pence i paid for it.
Interesting way of doing a first person tower defence where youre part of the defence instead of just building it.
Co-op would be insanely amazing to be added if possible, because i could totally play this game with 4-5 people groups, obviously the difficulty would need to be increased per person joining or possibly make the map bigger and the turrets more mats (you could make it so you can drop a set amount of materials for a friend if theyre closer to building a turret, or if theyre higher level etc. Probably would need a level cap i guess?)
Enjoyed the time ispent playing, would play longer at the time of review but it's 2:54am and i'm tired.
8/10 has a chance to shine. Doesn't look much but it's worth alot more than its currently listed for IMHO, however you would need to see someone play it or have if the dev's add a really good trailer.
Hope this helps :)
Decent game for price. With Game Conqueror I modified few values in RAM and I found out that game doesn't allow more than 50 enemies. Which is shame, because it gets very boring in later waves. Also, too little turret choices.
And thanks developer for supporting GNU/Linux. I wouldn't have bought this game otherwise.
I really wish there was a neutral option on here.
Defense: abominations is a decent game for its price point. The creator got that part right.
Unfortunately, it's also one of many generic-feeling games in unity that smack of being made by a guy who did a couple tutorials, then pieced something together in a week. Is it an ok game? Yeah. Is it entertaining for more than twenty minutes? Not particularly.
things i like to see implimented:
-turret cost for 2, 3, 4, and 5 are 100 less
-viewable health bar for turrets
-item drops should give you as much as the item spawn points.
-unless player health isn't 100%, item spawn points shouldn't spawn health
-shotgun fire rate sligjtly faster(i would perfer this if anything)
-bullet penitration, damaging monsters behind the first your shooting (maybe this is already in the game but its hard to tell)
-NEEDS TURRETS TO BE RESELLABLE
these are just mostly minor inconveniences, especially in the early game, i still enjoy playing this game. and looking forward to seeing the future of this game
7.9 out of 10
Excelente juego de accion con algunos elementos tower defense. Me parece muy bueno aunque la dificultad esta un poco alta.
Overall fun action packed game
only thing i think needs improvement is adding some sound effects to the creatures/enemies
I dont mind theres no map and such
but at least sound effects for the enemies/creature to give a slight clue for the player where the enemies are coming from
Started to play but only have one real complaint but it's a major one. I'm one of those people who became used to flight sims that invert the verticle axis like flying a real plane. It's hard to complain about a game with such a reasonable price, but please provide a settings option to invert the vertical axis. I will change this review to positive when this is done.
UPDATE: Well, the developer took care of this very quickly. Now i can actually play the game. Will review more later after I've played it some more, but for the price I can say it's a great deal, and I really appreciate the speedy response to my problem.
Good game, more action fps than tower defense. But worth the money, that's for sure. Let's see what more the devs update it with, loved the "bloody mess" ...weeee
VERY enjoyable, coming from a player of l4d and killing floor. Still somewhat rough around the edges, around wave 10 some big enemies spawned and they simply had too much health, so it needs to difficulty re-balance. But oh well it just released.
The blood is awesome and the level seems to somewhat change as the waves keep increasing(lights went off), which is also pretty cool.
Will make a longer review once I play the game a bit more. But for first impresions and this price, is a really good purchase.
Lots of potential here.
