Might be considered Abandonware. I'd suggest getting the first Killing Floor instead, despite it having no cosmetics and simply being older. Do not buy the third one, (this is judging by beta footage) they turned it into a "hero shooter" like Overwatch or Marvel Rivals, rather than letting you mix different character models and classes. The file storage is also extremely bulky for whatever reason on this one.
Putting the cost of accessories aside, it is a good game. I've uninstalled and re-downloaded this game multiple times over the years because it can get repetitive over time.
The holiday events are fun ig but once you learn the mechanics of the game, it all becomes kinda easy and turns into a grinding simulator.
It is fun with friends though, a majority of the community is very kind and a blast to play with.
This game has been out for nine years. It still has system crashing bugs when you do wild, unintended things like trying to recycle duplicate cosmetic items or closing the game from the in-game menu. Don't buy it. Don't buy killing floor 3. Don't support item shop cosmetics in a broken shell of a series that used to be good. Maybe try killing floor 1. It's a lot harder, but it has heart.
KF2 is fun solo and with a team anywhere from normal, hard, or suicidal (next level of difficulty). The last difficulty (Hell on Earth; HoE) shows how disgustingly broken the game is in many ways. All the way from the perks you pick, to the maps you go, and even enemy design.
It is one of the worst feelings in the world to
- Line up a headshot on a Bloat and have all of your damage completely negated because it puts its hands up (outplayed, idiot)
- Line up a headshot on an Gorefiend and have all of your damage completely negated because it ... put its hands up; a pattern may be forming here (git gud)
- Line up a headshot on a rampaging Flesh Pound, but have none of it hit because it, you guessed it, has it's hands up ... (Shoulda bought a bigger gun)
- Line up a headshot on ANY ZED and they teleport up because slopes are too hard to code so you end up shooting them in the body. So much for all those zed animation frames when you've got jank 💩like this on EVERY MAP
- Have a crawler jump over your bullet ... ??? (shoot the bullet faster, dip$hit)
- Miss a shot on a slasher because they've been taking up parkour (PARKOUR!) and decide to do a shoulder roll because ... PARKOUR!
- Miss a headshot on a slasher because it decided it identifies as a fly and constantly feels the need to rub it's head, so when you hit, you hit it's hand and it counts as a body shot, not a head shot
- Stalkers breakdancing away 80% of your armor before you turn around ... Really? A naked, 110 pound, gray, bald woman DELETES kevlar, bro what universe am I in?
[*]Be 2-3 headshots from killing a Scrake or Flesh Pound and a teammate inflicts FIRE/POISON PANIC!!!! so you can't hit them for anything and now you're being swarmed by trash zeds
The sad thing is, this game is so much fun when it's fun, but the small interactions will eat at you constantly. It's one thing to not have the skill, it's another thing entirely to miss shots because of poor game mechanics or worse flawed enemy and map design.
it is very cool i love it very great graphics and mechanics PLEASE ALLOW US TO RUN WHILE RELOADING
Just buy the damn game. It's probably the best Co-Op Zombie Shooter I've ever played, just topped by Left 4 Dead 2.
I has an absolutely incredible class, enemy and weapon variety.
The only thing I'd say is bad about this game is that you can smell that Lootbox Boom, Bloated with Microtransactions odor from miles away, but it's just cosmetics and 10 to 15 new weapons. Other than that I don't have anything else to say.
Amazing boomer shooter zombies game if u like survival horrors! amazing soundtrack and lots of unique cosmetics to choose from! definitely worth the buy especially if u can get the deluxe edition on sale! this game is quite similar to the wolfenstein games to me as the enemies have high health bars, but its also a lot like left 4 dead 2 as the zombies are all similar in abilities! otherwise an amazing game to play!
Sometimes I just want to sit down and kill a hoard of zombies. Some of the things that sets this game apart from others for me is the sense of progression with the level and perk system giving you some customization with the and the large selection of guns and weapons which are fun to play with.
Killing Floor 2 is bigger, better and bloodier.
In Killing Floor 2, players descend into continental Europe after it has been overrun by horrific, murderous clones called Zeds that were created by rogue elements of the Horzine Corporation. 6-player Co-Op & 12-player VS Zed-slaughtering mayhem.
Story
Killing Floor 2 still keeps the story light to focus on gameplay. Killing Floor 2 takes place one month after the events of the first game. The outbreak has now spread across mainland Europe, plunging it into chaos.
Gameplay
Killing Floor 2 is a co-op survival horror FPS game, where up to 6 players (or solo) fight waves of enemies known as Zeds, increasing in difficulty with each wave with more and stronger enemies. After the final wave you fight a boss. You earn money (Dosh) by killing enemies, which you spend at a trader between waves to buy weapons and armor. You can weld doors shut to keep the Zeds out, but they can destroy the doors. The combat has a faster pace than KF1.
There’s a new currency added in this game called Vosh, only used for buying cosmetics. Earn Vosh by doing objectives, Weekly Outbreaks, and by playing games and killing ZEDs.
Zed-Time is now more fluid and can be extended by skilled kills. Even more satisfying to shoot headshots in slow-motion in this game.
The guns and melee weapons are more viable and satisfying than in KF1, with many more weapons to choose from and more diverse weapon options per Perk as well. The melee is more advanced with directional attacks, parrying and blocking.
More game modes are added in KF2. This increases replayability and challenge:
Endless Mode - An infinite wave-based mode, with difficulty scaling beyond normal wave limits. Bosses appear every 5 waves. Includes random mutators and Zed spawn patterns.
Weekly Outbreaks - One special mode per week. Boom: All Zeds explode on death. Zed Time: Zed Time is always active. Poundemonium: Only Fleshpounds and Quarter Pounds spawn. Up, Up and Decay: Zeds float when shot and decay over time. Contamination Zone: Players must stand in safe zones or take damage.
Versus Survival - PvP version of Survival. Two teams: Humans vs. Player-Controlled Zeds. 6 players play as survivors, while up to 6 others spawn as Zeds. Teams switch sides after a set number of waves. Win by either surviving or wiping the survivor team.
There are 10 Perks now instead of 6. Perks provide passive bonuses, active skills and weapon discounts. Perks level up with use and unlock passive bonuses and skill choices every 5 levels, where max level is 25. In this game you can Prestige when you hit level 25. Prestiging resets it back to Level 0, losing access to all bonuses and skills until you level it back up. In exchange you are given a special Weapon Skin along with a modified Perk Icon. You also get an Experience boost so leveling up the next time will go by faster. You choose your Perk at the start of a match, but can switch between waves. Each one is tied to a specific weapon class or role:
Berserker - Melee tank and crowd control.
Sharpshooter - Precision long-range killer.
Commando - Assault rifle expert and cloaked Zed spotter.
Medic - Team support and survivability.
Support - Shotgun powerhouse and a better door welder.
Firebug - Area denial and fire damage.
Demolitionist - Explosive crowd control.
Gunslinger - Mobile dual-wield damage dealer.
SWAT - Close-quarters suppression.
Survivalist - Jack-of-all-trades.
This game has a deeper and more fun Perk system than KF1. KF2’s Perks feel more unique and customizable, with two skill paths per Perk offering meaningful choice. The game is clearly designed for 6-player co-op but also playable solo. Way more fun to play with your friends than solo though, but KF2 is more balanced to play solo than KF1. The movement is also smoother and faster, and you can now sprint.
Enemies & Bosses
All Zeds scale with difficulty and player count, becoming more aggressive and numerous. They can spawn from different directions, encouraging constant movement and awareness. Zeds can now climb, vault, and flank better. Their AI is improved, like dodging and group behavior.
All Zeds from the first game make a return while adding some new ones. There are 18 different Zeds and 5 Bosses. I will only cover the new ones:
Cyst - A failed or incomplete version of the Clot. Weakest and least dangerous enemy in the game.
Slasher - A more agile variant of the Clot. Performs quick melee attacks and acrobatics.
Alpha Clot - Bulky leader-type Clot that buffs nearby Zeds. Has a more aggressive AI profile than regular Clots.
Gorefiend - Twin-bladed Gorefast variant with higher health and speed. Spins in melee attacks, making it more dangerous in close quarters.
Rioter (Only on certain Weekly Modes) - Wears heavy armor. Immune to headshots until the helmet is destroyed.
Elite Crawler - An upgraded form of the Crawler. When it dies, it explodes in a persistent cloud of poisonous gas. It will not explode if it is killed with a headshot.
E.D.A.R. Blaster, Trapper & Bomber - Robot enemy that fires either ranged plasma shots, nets that disable movement and aiming briefly, or launches explosive grenades.
Quarter Pound - Mini-Fleshpound variant. Appears in groups. Less HP but very fast and aggressive.
The Matriarch - Boss. Cybernetic monstrosity with a plasma cannon, tentacle arm, and EMP blasts. Uses shields, disables player weapons, and performs brutal rushdowns.
Hans Volter - Boss. Dual gas rifles, grenades, and healing leech grab. Has armor phases and aggressive mobility. Drops poison gas and can buff himself.
King Fleshpound - Boss. An Oversized Fleshpound. Ground pounds, shockwaves, and summons Quarter Pounds. Relentless melee aggressor.
The Abomination - Boss. Bloated flesh-beast with poison gas and bile attacks. Summons Abomination Spawns, mini-bloat creatures. Focused on area denial and AoE/DoT damage.
Environment
The maps are dark, gritty, and often claustrophobic, and vary widely in layout, style, and tactical challenges. There are different variations of maps such as industrial/facility maps, urban/street maps, outdoor/wilderness maps, and experimental/custom maps from the modding community. Every map has weldable doors where you can seal off paths to control Zed flow or protect chokepoints. Certain maps include hazards like electrified fences or explosive barrels that can be used strategically. Some maps encourage kiting (running and shooting in circles), while others favor holding tight chokepoints. Zeds appear from dark corners, broken walls, or sewer grates. Knowing these helps plan defenses.
Visual Design & Sound Design
The visuals are vastly improved compared to KF1. The lighting, dismemberment and gore looks so good. The Zeds look more detailed, grotesque, expressive, scary and disturbing.
The sound design is good. Some sound cues are vital. Hearing a Siren scream or a Scrake rev his chainsaw gives players a chance to prepare. The soundtracks, heavy metal, kick in during combat and pumps you up for the action.
Constructive Criticism
Not much to complain about. It’s a game you play in periods, as it can get a bit repetitive. The objectives can feel a bit shallow. Lack of mission variety may limit replayability for some players. The Vault and cosmetic system could have been better as well.
The Verdict
Killing Floor 2 is essentially a bigger, better, bloodier evolution of KF1 — preserving its core identity while enhancing nearly every part of the experience. That is my opinion at least. I know that many players prefer KF1 because of its simplicity. I like the faster pace and chaos in this game more.
Rating: 9/10
an even more refined version of the first game without trying to reinvent the proverbial wheel. i've sunk many hours into this game and will definitely do it again when given the chance
Got this accidentally on ps4 and fell in love with it.
gunplay is amazing. It can get a little stale especially if you're playin' solo but multiplayer is always a fun task of stayin' alive n shit. would recommend.
The perks in this game are easy to grasp and can have you discovering a completely different playstyle which you'll like to what you're used to
(for example, I play Gunslinger/Survivalist but playing SWAT with the perks ability to not lose speed movement when aiming makes me a walking auto shotgun machine)
TLDR
yes....game good
Simple idea and awesome gunplay. Basically, all u have to do is to survive 10 waves of enemies and beat 1 boss, which is chosen randomly. But depending on the difficulty, the chosen class (of which there are as many as 10 and they all require a certain level of skill) and of course teammates, the game can be quite different every time. For example, on higher difficulties people have different strategies for when and who to buy a certain weapon, depending on the map, difficulty and specific wave, you need to constantly change your location, etc. The game has about 20-25 maps and a bunch of maps from the workshop, so there is enough variety.
Verdict: quite a fun game, especially if you play on high difficulty and with a couple of friends.
This game is a blast. Excellent AI enemies, hilarious character lines and some of the best weapons out there, this game, even at the age it is, is a great time solo or with friends!!!
Its a good game. I put in a few hours. Some of the online players are really shitty and weird. Some are nice. I used to love playing this whilst really drunk.
very fun game. imagine 7 days to die but only hoard nights in waves. i love this game cant wait for the third to come out!
I owe this game an apology when it came out I hate it because it didn't feel like KF but still had some KF soul in it but now after seeing the horror KF3 was HOLY SHIT. made me realize that I miss treated this game so I'm sorry KF2.
Hordes, popping heads, shooting. old but still worth it
started playing this game on console around 2018, loved it. Playing it on steam is an improvement in every way
Good game, But I'm a little tired of it, Maybe I'll come back
When I take all of its additional content.
But, in principle, I recommend this game.
Game kicks ass. While I haven't played KF3 and only really watched a lot of videos on it, I think KF2 was probably the peak of the franchise. Still has a decent sized playerbase and a lot of content if your thinking of jumping in this late in the game.
Killing Floor 2 vs. Killing Floor 3 Beta – A Quick Take
Killing Floor 2 remains a co-op classic—fast-paced, gory, and endlessly replayable. Its brutal gunplay, flexible perk system, and cinematic Zed Time make it a fan favorite even years after release. It’s a game that nails the fun of teamwork and chaos.
In contrast, the Killing Floor 3 beta has disappointed many and that includes myself. The new locked hero system removes player freedom, the iconic gore has been toned down, and performance issues plague the experience. It feels like a step backward rather than an evolution.
If you're looking for pure, satisfying Zed-slaying, Killing Floor 2 still does it best
Awful way they went about adding workshop you need to create your own dedicated server to even play any workshop items with friends, Imagine not just adding p2p like bo3
After a long time baking this game is classic now. It's a fun game, a great game to play with friends, and one that will always having you come back at least every now and then to play. The combat is satisfying, the gunplay and meleeplay is great. I hope they do kf3 justice, I really do.
I've spent hundreds of hours on the PS4/5 version, and the PC version is even better. With Killing Floor 3's disastrous beta nearly souring the franchise (thankfully Tripwire took our fan feeback to heart and delayed 3 to fix it!) I decided to dive back in, and man it feels good to mow down some Zeds again.
This game good. Kill zeds (zombies of a different flavour) with various weapons. Game still looks pretty solid, and the gore system is fun.
While I have an unhealthy attraction to this game thanks to the capability of running modded maps, it's not the best. Late-game there isn't much to grind for apart from fancy skins and camos and an icon. Plus the enemy variety gets tired quick too. If there's a sale it's worth it, otherwise save your pennies and wait for the third installment.
One of the best zombie waves-coop games out there. Had a blast back in the days with KF1 and KF2 just improved on the basis of the first one. The only downside compared to the first title is the lack of a darker and grimmier atmosphere, more like a survival horror setting.
Killing Floor 2 has a deep class customization, an extensive variety of weapons to try out and a quite fair learning curve movement and positioning wise. This is a must try if you like first person shooters, coop and zombie waves games. Looking forward to see what Tripwire will do with Killing Floor 3.
Love Doom? I know I do, this game even though its a little older than your normal game has one of the best gore and feedback from any weapon.
fun to play, my only purpose for giving dislike is get rid of that vote kick im sick and tired of that crap this needs to remove the kick vote, plzz remove it. ty
tons of fun as a casual player. Enough classes/progression to keep you busy, but with a low swill floor so anyone can pickup and play. graphics are good for it's age. Only cons are the events no longer exist, and large file size due to all the lootboxed skins
Good but the modern aesthetic won't beat KF1 and it's way overdue when comes to crossplay implementation. Waiting for Killing floor 3!
seems like an amazing game on the surface...... lots of customization and replayability make KF2 a great experience.
Until you find out they are british
ugh cant believe they bait and switch a cool zombie game with those islanders.
Awesome soundtrack, fun game for killing time when you're unsure of what to play in your library.
600+ hours (and counting) since I picked this game up a decade ago in early access.
I still play almost daily, so I definitely got my money's worth. I can't recommend this game enough. Great maps, monsters, weapons, classes, and gameplay.
Great must play game. (Im the greatest player in the world)
Good horde shooter, satisfying gunplay with a variety of perks (classes) and weapons to choose from.
its better than kf1, more fun gunplay and various kit in cost no more gritty atmosphere, rather the game knows its a game so every stage looks like playground and the character talk like the zombie is just everyday occurance unlike in kf1. i enjoyed it very much, but the size of this game is too much for me, pure mp with 100gb data size, this why pve always thrive than pvp, even this day there still 1000 rooms you can join.
I enjoy this game immensely. Sometimes you just want to kick back and shoot Zeds. It doesn't require too much calculation or strategy, just grab a team and start shooting (or swinging depending on your weapon).
Some bosses are better than others, at least in the aspect of which I prefer to fight, but my favorite levels by far are voiced by Gary Busey. I just love the idea of him being Santa for some reason.
great fun, especially with friends, simple zombie killing fun
A buddy got me to try it. I plugged in 12 hrs and went back to L4D2. 5 years later I'm a man and need a mans game.
Pros
Overall gameplay is fun
All the perks feel great to play
The weapons are vast and satisfying
The enemies are actually competent
The maps feel and look good
Cons
The optimization is horrible
It can be really enraging when you die all because you were cornered by a horde or get cheap spotted by bosses last minute right as they were gonna die
Microtransactions are a little carried away
The bosses can be annoying sometimes. Mainly the patriarch with how he goes invisible and runs away to heal
This isn't really an issue on my end but I hear how many people have bad experiences trying to run the game with it crashing and lagging on them and straight up not working on windows 11 when windows 11 released.
Maxing out perk talent trees can take forever. I played this game since 2023, and i only got one perk (berserker) maxed out
Overall, the game is great just be warned of what could possibly be issues
it has its problems but it is at its core a fun zombie wave survival game that is pretty fun alone but great fun with friends!
Great horde team shooter. Nothing else really to say is great fun with friends or randoms
played for a long time getting back into it kf2 is the best of the series
The characters are great, the writing’s super chill. If you’re into cozy RPGs where not much happens but it still sticks with you, you’ll probably love it. It’s one of those games you can play to unwind nothing too intense, just a relaxing escape when you need it.
a great came as its own, but the DLC makes it hard to play since it limits variety of the guns
also fuck the prices for the DLC guns
also fuck the animations for the more 'newer' DLC guns
also fuck you tripwire
F*ck yes this game is worth EVERY cent.
Hopefully the Devs look back on Kf2 & take lots of examples from this game & put them
back into Kf3 as idk why they would take them out in the first place lol??
Anyways all up to Devs now all I gotta say is Good on them tho for Delaying Kf3 after the community didn't
like the Beta.
Fan since Kf1 & VERY Happy with what they did with this one.
I'd load up this Mother F*cker anytime, anyday, & kill some f*cking Zedz!!!!!
30/10
Second part of this epic zombie slaying franchise takes everything that made the first game enjoyable and ramps it up, delivering a more polished, intense, and satisfying co-op zombie survival experience. The visuals have received a huge upgrade, with more detailed environments, better enemy designs, and impressive gore effects that make the action feel even more visceral. The waves of mutated creatures are bigger, nastier, and come with more variety, making each encounter more thrilling and unpredictable. The fast-paced combat is just as enjoyable as before, but now there are even more weapons, classes, and abilities to choose from, giving players more ways to customize their playstyle and tackle the waves.
One of the biggest improvements in Killing Floor 2 is the enhanced combat mechanics. The gunplay is tighter, with more impactful feeling weapons, and the addition of melee combat options adds variety and excitement to battles. The perk system has also been expanded, allowing for more specialized roles in the team, from a medic who keeps everyone alive to a demolitions expert who can wipe out entire hordes with explosive firepower. The new enemies, including towering bosses, provide satisfying challenges and add to the sense of chaos that the game thrives on. The multiplayer is a blast, and the new features like the ability to purchase weapons mid-wave and more varied map designs keep the game feeling fresh, even after multiple hours of play.
Overall, Killing Floor 2 is a substantial improvement over its predecessor, offering a more refined and brutal zombie survival experience. It’s got the same addictive loop of surviving waves, leveling up, and upgrading weapons, but now with more depth, polish, and new features that make it even more fun to play with friends. If you enjoyed the first game, Killing Floor 2 is a must-play, offering everything that worked in the original with a significant upgrade in every area.
