Return to Castle Wolfenstein

It's the same game that I remember from 2001, and I still love playing. This is one you should pick up if you haven't picked it up yet and you've played the newer variants of the franchise.

This is my standby favorite game.

This is one of the best FPS shooters I have ever played, the gunplay is CRISP

The levels are on point ( for the most part if i can remember )

Played this with my brother when i was very small like in 2008 or 2009, finished playing it again in 2025 and the feelings was same as i felt before. One of the best wolfenstein game ever made.

Eh, I tried to give this one a chance, but from the lack of indication of where to go, to having to constantly manually save just to ensure you don't lose a bunch of progress due to a cheap death somewhere on the map...I'm not going to finish this game.

It's similar to Far Cry 1 in terms of just the mechanics, etc. but without much of the charm, and significantly less story-telling. The game was made in 2001 so I do give the game a break there, but this is a game that has not aged well at all and I do not recommend it unless you're just a big fan of the Wolfenstein franchise and want to check it out.

Game definitely is WAY better than the first one with more of a story and more decent / modern present-day mechanics.

I'd give it a 4.5/10.

Missions 1-5: Very fun, nothing to complain about.

Missions 6-7: Horrible onslaught of spongey, aim-bot enemies accompanied by even tankier, spongier special enemies.

Overall, the game was like 6 hours and 5 of it was pretty fun.

best game 11/10 must play with the mod free on steam with new grafics

This game is fantastic
I never played it back in the day, but I loved Q3A. This is an authentic Wolfenstein experience, the castle artwork and design gives the immersion of a genuine medieval German castle. Terror Billy ganking Nazis and tearing down their flags what's not to love? The AI on hard is challenging and the gameplay is exactly the style I'm looking for in my quest for old school FPS gems. Try it.

A classic. Nijmegen Bridge is the most fun sniper level ever developed.

one of the worst game ever. this developer had no idea how to make a "proper" video game.

Overall its a legendary game. I remember being afraid of the catacombs levels when I was a kid. Cons are that the game is unstable without a community patch on newer systems.

Classic! One of the best games ever i have been playing it since i was a child and i still get so much enjoyment out of it even to this day.

Sadly, its just too much of a hassle to run on modern hardware.. The game is really nice, good gameplay and very atmospheric but on modern hardware it just crashes way to much and it takes me out of it.

This will just have to live in my heart from when I was 14, playing this on Windows XP.

crashes too much even with patch 1.51c (which shows 1.41d ingame) on modern machinery. it's exciting and i want to finish and i try every trick i can find on the net including updating to all the latest fan patches. you have to remember to save very often of you continuously lose progress each crash. my most common crash was on new level intro movies. i'd use the load level cheat /spdevmap to skip the crashes to the next map, but half thru again it crashes. i gave up. i never did fly the airplane home and i havent fought a single boss as they all crashed.

It's an overhaul to work better on modern hardware and some newer looking graphics. This version on steam is actually unplayable for me so didn't even have a choice. I changed one setting, it crashed and I tried so many things but cannot get the game to load at all.

As for the actual game played through REALRTCW, I enjoyed it and would recommend.

I never played this until 2025, but it was a very fun game. It has the old school challenge with short time to kill on both sides. Each level has new weapons, enemy types, and varied environments. I can see why this game was always so highly rated for its time.

took a long time to track this one down from its original version back on CD when the game came out

Been playing this game since the original purchase on release date in November, back in 2001. Still have the original disc, but didn't feel like actually loading up a CD, so I got it through steam. I still love this game. It's worth the money for "old school" PC gaming!

One of the best shooters ever and easily the best wolfenstein game.It is a little rough to get running but if you don't mind using a mod theres a free vanilla conversion mod on steam that is just as perfect. The vibes in chapter 1-2 are possibly the best in any shooter.
