It's truly amazing how well this game has held up. I missed gameplay like this, you get in there, fight some good battles, minimal story without 20 minute cutscenes, and the graphics still hold up. Level design was great, this was a great addition.
It's CoD 1 but better in everything.
I made it to a bridge with an anti-tank vehicle, and seemingly endless waves of enemies to replace the ones I'd just sniped. Not fun, you do this for why?
(Possibly also a skill issue, might revisit this later on when I'm not legit sick, in case my brain cotton was the problem, but it hadn't been an issue in finishing CoD's base game.)
i think i don't have to write anything about this game... everybody know what is it about and that is a great game. I could play it 24/7... one of the coolest games ever
Need more people playing this. I grew up on this and I swear nothing comes close to just raw warfare like this does.
it's incredible how little has changed since this game
This is the GOAT!!!
Sehr gut!
this game is very fun! a nice expansion of the first game. everything about this game was an improvement from the first. and the games missions were creative and high quality for being a 2004 game. all except for one. the last mission in the game has you blow up five tanks. that doesn't sound too bad until you realize enemies are constantly coming, your constantly being bombed, and you can only carry ONE missile, and have to search the map for 8 others. yes 8. tanks can take up to 2 missiles. if you're playing on hardened or veteran, this is the HARDEST mission in the game. it literally took me 2.3 hours to beat. but other than that horseshit mission the game is good!
I never actually played this expansion back when the OG Call of Duty released, thinking that it would be rubbish. And here I am, literally 20 years later, playing it for the first time and loving it.
Unlike most expansions, United Offensive is every bit as good as the main game, if not paced even better. It keeps the format of the original CoD1 by breaking up the game into three campaigns (US, UK, and USSR protagonists) all three of which are recreations of actual WW2 battles in Europe.
The attention to detail is insane for a game that released in 2004 - for example go take a look at the Belgian town of Foy in Google Maps, then check out a screenshot of the church from the game. Same goes for the geography of the mission from Foy to Noville - the map in game is basically identical to what you're looking at in Google Maps.
If you've played CoD1, you owe it to yourself to play UO and it's climactic historical battles in Bastogne (Battle of the Bulge), Sicily, and Kursk, as they're arguably even better than the main game. 9/10
Better than the base game, story is still not that great but it has a lot less defend area for a few minuites missions, gameplay is improved and they added new elements to it, it is a lot harder than the base game though and missions are a lot longer.
I always come back to this. First CoD, best CoD.
Simply masterpiece.
9/10
Like the first CoD, this part is also atmospheric
First of all (again) this game is pretty good and deserves attention yadda yadda yadda, ok so, Kharkov2 is worse than Pavlov, I know it's hard to believe. HOWEVER, THIS SHIT NEEDS TO BE RIPPED APART, BURNED, RIPPED APART AGAIN, BURNED AGAIN, AND THEN SHOVED UP WHOEVER GREENLIT THIS SHITTY EXCUSE FOR A MISSION IN THE FIRST PLACE. OH MY FUCKING GOD. ITS SO BAD IT PUTS PAVLOV TO ACTUAL SHAME, WITH THE NON STOP ENEMIES PILING THROUGH AND THE BROKEN AI AND JUST EVERY FUCKING THING IS THROWN AT YOU IT FEELS LIKE. PLANES, TANKS, HUNDREDS OF SNIPERS, MACHINEGUNNERS, RIFLEMEN, IT MAKES ME SO ANGRY I WANT TO RIP MY HAIR OUT, GROW MORE, THEN RIP IT OUT ALL OVER AGAIN. WHEN YOU FIRST GET TO WHAT I LIKE TO CALL "THE AREA THAT TOOK 30 YEARS OFF MY LIFE" YOU GET SWARMED BY HUNDREDS OF SOLDIERS AS YOURE TOLD "ReInFoRcEmEnTs WiLl ArRiVe SoOn" BUT BEFORE THAT CAN EVEN HAPPEN YOU HAVE TO DEAL WITH 5 TANKS THAT COME ONE AFTER THE OTHER WHILE YOURE GETTING BOMBARDED BY STUKAS (Plane that drops big booms) AND THE OTHER 99999999999 SNIPERS, RIFLEMEN, AND MACHINE GUNNERS ALL TRYING TO SHOVE THEIR GUNS UP YOURE ASS AT THE SAME FUCKING TIME. AND THEN, OH MY GOD AFTER THE HELL OF TAKING OUT ALL 5 TANKS SLOWLY WHILE GETTING BOMBARDED, YOU HAVE TO WAIT TWO WHOLE MINUTES FOR "ReInFoRcEmEnTs To ArRiVe" AND WHILE THATS HAPPENING YOURE STILL GETTING
SHAT ON BY THE STUKAS, AND WHAT SEEMS TO BE HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS OF SOLDIERS COMING AFTER YOU. THERE. THATS MY REVIEW. FUCK. YOU. WHOEVER DECIDED TO ALLOW THIS ACTUAL GARBAGE TO GET IN. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAnyways I give the game a 7/10, and I dont recommend playing it if you get very angry at 20 year old games like I do :)
Super fun
Step up from the base game but the gamma slider still doesnt work.
I am soft locked as I cant see the ladder in the dark.
20 years later, this one holds up. This expansion is better than the game it expands on, and still plays fine.
Enjoy a real CoD experience from the days of when it was about making good games, and not unstable AI generated micro transaction rackets.
Classic COD with a fairly active player base. Campaign is still good. Look for Historians and RA for active servers.
If you've ever wanted to utterly rip your dick off in frustration, then play this game on veteran using only the in-built save points! 10/10 would recommend to anyone!
this is what real call of duty is
pretty hip and cool
Pretty fun, has some wild levels. A couple of the turret sections feel a bit too long and boring but I guess that's COD for you. Will need to do some fiddling with either the game files or steam launch commands to get the game at modern resolutions but the guides for doing so are very simple to follow.
Have to say this is the most brutal COD I've ever played, and I've played quite a few of them on PC and console. Only one I've played that I honestly had to turn down the difficulty to normal to have fun, and there were still a few parts of the mostly fun campaign that were just pure suffering. Whoever designed the train station struggle session is an awful, horrible person.
Iconic dlc, my fav fps game from my childhood,i recommend it to everyone ✌😜
love this game
Well This proves my theory that Call of duty 1 really is just Mid at best. United Offensive Took the pitiful stepping stone that Infinity ward made and actually runs with it and gives us an interesting an engaging campaign. This should just be sold with COD 1 By default because that would actually make the game worth picking up. so yeah. moral of this story. only get COD1 to play united offensive.
also give us a COD3 PC port you cowards.
Game does not work
LIKE COD 2003, RUNS FINE ON MY WIN 11 GAMING RIG. GREAT GAME!
hard lol
An extension of the only good COD game ever made, therefore also good
a great expansion for an even greater base game
Amazing game lots of action and cool missions I also beat the whole game on Hardened
5/10
IT A FUN CALLINS
Good old school cod
Fun and passionate game from a different time in gaming and in general, a real part of vidya history
Best call of duty I have ever played one of the best missions is the B-17 gunner.
Childhood.
It does improve the storytelling of the original game, now having more continuity within missions,
Dame is indeed long, but very buggy. Remember to 'F5' cuz you may have to reset everytime the game glitches...
This much like COD 1 is still worth buying. A little harder than COD 1 due to map layout and amount of health around just a heads up. This is basicly the same game as COD 1 but with new missions and what part of WW2 history it covers. The mission where you play as a British RAF Bomber Gunner is the highlight of United Offensive in my opinion.
surprisingly decent in the year 2024.
Best classic game ever
amazing expansion to the first call of duty
..excellent game and learn a little ww2 history
It's a well made game, I enjoyed it.
I really enjoyed the base game despite its few flaws, one of which was the occasional "Out of Memory" error. This error, which would instantly crash my game and delete the most recent save, occurred only a few times in the base game. However, in United Offensive, this error happened frequently enough to ruin the game for me. I did complete it because I wanted to finish the DLC, but my goodness, it was an awful experience. I went through the typical troubleshooting steps that you would use for any other game, but they didn’t fix the problem. This error is isolated to only the base game and this DLC, I have no issues with any other game or application.
good old school game
im an idiot i bought this and cant even play it because my laptop doesnt meet the requirements of a 20yo game, i might need to buy the new rtx 4060 to play this game
Call of Duty United Offensive is developed by Gray Matter Studios and released in 2004.
It is the expansion to Infinity Ward's first Call Of Duty, released a year earlier.
The immense success of the first COD opus overshadowed the Medal Of Honor series,
which until then had reigned supreme on the throne of WWII FPS.
While a sequel seemed logical, Activision preferred to release an Add-on first.
Like its predecessor, United Offensive features 3 distinct campaigns.
The adventure begins with the American campaign,
during which you play as Corporal Scott Riley.
You'll have to fight hard during the mythical Battle of the Bulge in Belgium.
In the English campaign, Royal Air Force Sergeant James Doyle will assist the Dutch Resistance, in collaboration with the British SAS.
He was also among the first Allied soldiers to take part in the Invasion of Sicily.
Then, in the Russian campaign,
Red Army soldier Yuri Petrenko takes part in the terrible Battle of Kursk,
and survive the siege of Kharkov while awaiting the arrival of Soviet reinforcements.
COD UO is far more intense and brutal than its predecessor.
The staging is way more spectacular, and offers a few moments of anthology.
The action is much more condensed, and the heroic sequences are relentless.
Among the new features that distinguish it from the first Call Of Duty, United Offensive offers:
machine-gun shooting from a military jeep, motorcycles and boats,
and even airborne combat aboard a B-29 Superfortress!
Difficulty has increased significantly since the first episode,
especially if you choose the maximum difficulty setting.
Some missions are no picnic: enemies now respawn indefinitely in some sequences, while others are timed.
the AI has improved, with the Germans firing with incredible accuracy at any distance.
Speaking of weapons,
United Offensive offers some “new” ones compared to the original COD,
including the M1919A6, MG34, Bazooka, Webley MKIV, TT43, SVT40, and even the Flammenwerfer 35!
If Call Of Duty was graphically outdated in 2003,
United Offensive looks ancient compared to the FPS masterpieces released in 2004,
such as Half-Life 2, DOOM 3 and Far Cry.
The engine of the awesome Quake III quickly shows its weaknesses in a game of this scale.
Several names of soldiers encountered in the adventure will return in future COD games.
You play as Private Yuri Petrenko in the Russian campaign,
who is probably related to the Dimitri Petrenko from World At War.
We also meet up with Ramirez and Dunn, who will be key allies in Modern Warfare 2.
I even saw a certain Taylor, who will play an important role in Black Ops III.
Even funnier, there are two soldiers in the same level,
named Gordon and Freeman respectively,
which are obviously a reference to Valve's famous FPS franchise: Half-Life!
Call Of Duty United Offensive is a high-quality add-on.
Less immersive but more action and spectacle oriented, the game is brutal and epic.
If you loved the first COD, there's no doubt you'll enjoy this add-on.
