- The #1 WWII shooter development team returns with an amazing new experience: Developed by Infinity Ward, creators of the award-winning Call of Duty. All-new, unprecedented enhancements from stunningly realistic graphics to seamless gameplay, thanks to the revolutionary COD2 engine, groundbreaking AI, and choice-based gameplay innovations. Beautifully rendered snow, rain, fog, and smoke, combined with dynamic lighting and shadows, make this the most intense WWII shooter yet.
- New conflicts and enemies to face: Call of Duty 2 brings you bigger battles, with more tanks, troops, and explosions on-screen, and bigger scope, with a wide range of locales and environments across the European Theater. Fight "The Desert Fox" across the scorching sands of North Africa as wave upon wave of tanks clash in the desert. Use rocket-propelled grappling hooks alongside your Army Ranger squad to storm and scale the cliffs of Pointe du Hoc against a relentless German counterassault, and slog through urban chaos as a tank hunter in war-torn Russia.
- Rely on your squad as never before: The dozens of Allied soldiers surrounding you are fully aware of the changing situations around them, and will let you know using an all-new, context-sensitive battle chatter system. They will draw enemy fire, lay down cover for you, use foxholes and moving tanks for cover, and warn you of incoming enemy troops and hostile fire.
- Choice-based gameplay: Play through missions in the order you see fit. Will you decide to play first as a sniper or as a tank commander? It's your call. Open-ended battlefields allow you to individualize your tactics and choose the order in which you complete your objectives.
- Multiplayer Mayhem: Go online for intense Axis vs. Allies team-based multiplayer action, building on the hugely popular Call of Duty multiplayer modes.

I haven't played CoD2 in many, many years and wanted to see if it still holds up. CoD2 is famous for inventing the auto generative health and skipping health packs which were prevalent in all games of old.
CoD2 is a game that has many "set pieces", bombastic music and drowns you in wave after wave with enemies while you play together with your own squads of enemies, no more single soldier Doom style. This is war!
I play only for the campaign and it is split up in 3 distinct segments, Soviet Union, Great Britain and USA.
The campaign took almost exactly 6 hours to complete, much shorter than I remember it.
SOVIET UNION
Really didn't care too much for this one, and it's sad that they have such a weak beginning to this game. The Soviet campaign took me around 1h 20 minutes to complete, and it's all the same, just fighting through residential areas and factories, clearing out ze Germans with a variety of weapons. Of course the "potatoes instead of grenades" in the beginning is classic, but I don't care too much for this campaign at all. Quite uninspired, an very short.
GREAT BRITAIN
The British campaign got way more love. Split into two sections, first the desert and then Europe it has more locations and variety, but above all the set pieces are much more inspired. In the beginning we radio in artillery on tanks, and later on we get to control a tank ourselves. Lots of fun!
Captain Price is of course great as usual, but also the banter between soldiers is much better. This campaign was given a lot more love than the Soviet one and took around 2.5-3 hours to complete, twice as long as the Soviet campaign.
USA
The US campaign begins with a grand opening at Pointe du Hoc. Important to notice is that there was an abundance of WWII games at the time and movies like Saving Private Ryan and Band of Brothers lead to showcases of D-Day from both Omaha and the Airborne (in Medal of Honor Allied Assault).
This new way of doing it was very refreshing! Only weird thing is that this is the scene on the cover of the box and it takes over 4 hours before we see it.
The American campaign has some slow missions, but then comes the assault of Hill 400 which is extremely intense. A very well done mission. My memory told me that was it, but nope - we're going amphibian! The "ending" of the American campaign should have been Hill 400, but for some reason they throw in one final mission. Not sure why, but then it's over. Took around 2 hours to complete.
VERDICT
CoD 2's campaign is classic and revolutionary and parts of it hold up to this day. The British campaign is probably my favourite, with the US campaign a close second and the Soviet campaign being kind of bad and forgettable (and short).
CoD World at War and CoD WW2 have much better campaigns than this and I can really only recomend it for "historical reasons". As it stands on its own, I guess I'll give it a 7/10, but only if you're a fan of old school shooters and WW2 games.
The definition of old-but-gold stuff!!
"Call of Duty 2" is not only among top 5 best games of its franchise, it also deserves to be in the list of top 10 best WW2 games of all time. The game looks obviously dated on the graphic texture, yet the FPS gameplay is still fun and intense even 20 years have passed. It, without doubt, truly stands the test of time!!
This game holds up surprisingly well in a few areas. The audio design still works — rain, machine guns, debris — all make you feel present even with outdated graphics. Explosions and smoke effects are better than expected from 2025. Level design and enemy pacing stay solid, especially noticeable on higher difficulties when you know exactly where and when the next wave hits.
The real reason I bought it wasn’t the gameplay though (and I’m not a fan of the series, or of military shooters in general). It’s tied to childhood: summer breaks in the countryside, an old laptop overheating on my knees, endless evenings replaying the same missions. At full price it’s a rip-off, but for a few dollars on sale, it’s a piece of personal history, another brick in a Steam collection.
It’s alright.
Nowhere near the best of the series, but it’ll do if you need pure and simple shooting gallery to ease your mind after work (or after System Shock, in my case).
Some setpieces are better than others, though; the number of the exact same two-story houses I cleaned at the tail end of the English campaign and the beginning of the American one is bordering on ridiculous.
buy it or you're gay
yeah its a good game
this game makes the first one look bad because of how good it is
This game is awesome! Like it predecessor "Call of Duty" and its successor "Call of Duty: World at War" - its one of the only games that are well made for WWII (in my opinion these 3 games are the only good ones connected with WWII). The graphics, yes, they are old, but they look good, I believe. They still hold up and look well for 20 years later. Unlike its predecessor, the graphics don't feel as old. A big improvement there. Gameplay is fun as frick! It's amazing, again, yes, nothing special, but tons of fun and a lot to do, you even have Multiplayer introduced here. It's a WWII FPS, nothing to fancy, but you don't need fancy here, it's just so good. Storyline is great. I love it! Thanks to these games (when I was about 8-9 years old), I learned a lot about history and put myself in these scenarios. I can only imagine what people went through, I tear up at some missions, remembering that this all actually happened. I would highly recommend playing this game!
Overall I would give this game as well, a 10/10! For sure. All 3 of the mentioned CoD games are the only good CoD and WWII games, I've ever played (FPS-wise).
love old daays
What a blast to play I beat the whole game on hardened 8/10 does crash at start up.
game fun
well for those of us that remember when this came to pc. Nostalgic dont compare to games of today. Play and enyoy or dont
Really cool game.
The best game in the Call of Duty franchise. No melodrama or silly inter-personal conflict driven plot. Just WWII in video game format, with you as a grunt. Iterates and improves on its predecessor in all the right ways.
Game looks amazing, even after all these years. And who would have thought that it's been 20 years already. Still works flavlesly, even on windows 11.
damn old compass
classic underappreciated asf
THE WWII Shooter experience!!!
One of the best COD games!
GOATed game, still can find a MP match no problem in 2025
Old ass peak game, i like it, makes my balls tingle
Insane replay ability! This I would argue is one of the top five Call of Duty games I've played!
Great game had some problems running it but finished the game really enjoyed the campaign
Really bad game lots of bugs
>Panzer tanks are heavily armored, shoot them in the sides or rear.
>it's a tiny Panzer 2
lmfao
Captain Price is over 100 years old at this point. Realism ruined
Goated
I mean what can I say at this point the first 4 Cal of duty games are just freekn great!!
I remember when this first came out and it's great to just follow the storyline.
The large scale war is so much more badass and fun and cool than the specs ops bullshit of the recent games
I've played this game for thousands of hours. The campaign is still great.
You can really see the foundations of what would become Cod 4 in this. Huge upgrade in every single way from the first game. Better graphics, better gameplay, scrapped the health pack system, less clunky,
good soundtrack, dedicated grenade button. Takes place in not just Europe, but AFRICA. Also takes on D-Day which was great.
I remember being 12 years old when I was playing with my company Multiplayer in internet cafes.
20 years later this game is still full of active servers online keeping this CoD ALIVE!
Campaign is traditionally badass playing as Americans/British and Russian army.
Best mission of course is Mission #7 - Comrade Sniper in Russian Campaign.
- "Why are we using potatoes instead of real grenades?"
- "Because real grenades are valuable, in fact they are worth a lot more than you are"
Played this for countless hours as a wee ol boy. had it on hard disk back in the day.
First game i've ever played and still holds up. Not sure about $19.99 tho.
One of my favorite games of all time. Used to play nL Zombies every day
The campaign is a potato masher simulator. Just awful.
does anybody knows where i can find serch and detroy servers ?

[th]PROS:
+ Age goes against most classic games, to me.... these games have gotten better with age thanks to Activision taking the true meaning out of Call of Duty games.
+ Not a single ridiculous skins in sight, just good old classic war uniforms, the way Call of Duty games we're meant to be.
+ Sound has improved if we're comparing it to Call of Duty 1.
+ Nostalgia always comes to mind when I come back to these type of games.

[th]CONS:
- Sadly the graphics are outdated... it's kinda funny to see hardly anything on a map next to what it's like now.

[th]VERDICT:
Going through these classic Call of Duty games really makes you think how bad publishers have fallen since the early 2000s I wasn't old enough to play these games on release but I can appreciate how good the classics are and I can confidently say that I'll be showing my children these golden games before they get slumped with the more modern games.
Kinda sad when you look back at what we had....

perfect for angry issues
campaign is very fun however if you play multiplayer its all hackers.
Excellent game and one of the best WWII shooters as well. Classic FPS action, no gimmick levels or season passes or DLC you just shoot Nazis and that's it. Also works fine on Windows 11. 10/10
one of the best game in all history
nice
Huge Improvement to the original game Imo. This game Is one of the more underrated games In the entire franchise Imo. Yes I get this still your average WW2 fps, you still can't sprint or throw back grenades yet, but still Is a very fun and awesome game to play. The guns, the enemies, and missions are all very well put together and can be very tense In a lot of areas. Other than some small nit picks and out of all the first 3 cod games, this one Is probably my favorite one. not my favorite cod game, but some of my favorites in the series.
call of boogy 2
If you did not yet play this game . Probably you lost many things . in the history of games a history game. Excellent game . but i think Cod 1 is better just on my opinion.
Even in 2025, this game it's much better and fun than vanguard, modern warfare III and black ops 6.
though prone to raise aggression at its various missions but retains its entertainment value
6/10
It's fun but imo a step down from COD 1. I hate the spongy enemies and how there's 4-5 of the same 'liberate town then defend town' missions. Not as much mission variety and fewer memorable moments. Although there's clear improvements like checkpoints and regenerative health.Дополнительная информация
