- The #1 WWII shooter development team returns with an amazing new experience: Developed by Infinity Ward, creators of the award-winning Call of Duty. All-new, unprecedented enhancements from stunningly realistic graphics to seamless gameplay, thanks to the revolutionary COD2 engine, groundbreaking AI, and choice-based gameplay innovations. Beautifully rendered snow, rain, fog, and smoke, combined with dynamic lighting and shadows, make this the most intense WWII shooter yet.
- New conflicts and enemies to face: Call of Duty 2 brings you bigger battles, with more tanks, troops, and explosions on-screen, and bigger scope, with a wide range of locales and environments across the European Theater. Fight "The Desert Fox" across the scorching sands of North Africa as wave upon wave of tanks clash in the desert. Use rocket-propelled grappling hooks alongside your Army Ranger squad to storm and scale the cliffs of Pointe du Hoc against a relentless German counterassault, and slog through urban chaos as a tank hunter in war-torn Russia.
- Rely on your squad as never before: The dozens of Allied soldiers surrounding you are fully aware of the changing situations around them, and will let you know using an all-new, context-sensitive battle chatter system. They will draw enemy fire, lay down cover for you, use foxholes and moving tanks for cover, and warn you of incoming enemy troops and hostile fire.
- Choice-based gameplay: Play through missions in the order you see fit. Will you decide to play first as a sniper or as a tank commander? It's your call. Open-ended battlefields allow you to individualize your tactics and choose the order in which you complete your objectives.
- Multiplayer Mayhem: Go online for intense Axis vs. Allies team-based multiplayer action, building on the hugely popular Call of Duty multiplayer modes.

Old ass peak game, i like it, makes my balls tingle
Insane replay ability! This I would argue is one of the top five Call of Duty games I've played!
Great game had some problems running it but finished the game really enjoyed the campaign
Really bad game lots of bugs
>Panzer tanks are heavily armored, shoot them in the sides or rear.
>it's a tiny Panzer 2
lmfao
Captain Price is over 100 years old at this point. Realism ruined
Goated
I mean what can I say at this point the first 4 Cal of duty games are just freekn great!!
I remember when this first came out and it's great to just follow the storyline.
The large scale war is so much more badass and fun and cool than the specs ops bullshit of the recent games
I've played this game for thousands of hours. The campaign is still great.
You can really see the foundations of what would become Cod 4 in this. Huge upgrade in every single way from the first game. Better graphics, better gameplay, scrapped the health pack system, less clunky,
good soundtrack, dedicated grenade button. Takes place in not just Europe, but AFRICA. Also takes on D-Day which was great.
I remember being 12 years old when I was playing with my company Multiplayer in internet cafes.
20 years later this game is still full of active servers online keeping this CoD ALIVE!
Campaign is traditionally badass playing as Americans/British and Russian army.
Best mission of course is Mission #7 - Comrade Sniper in Russian Campaign.
- "Why are we using potatoes instead of real grenades?"
- "Because real grenades are valuable, in fact they are worth a lot more than you are"
Played this for countless hours as a wee ol boy. had it on hard disk back in the day.
First game i've ever played and still holds up. Not sure about $19.99 tho.
One of my favorite games of all time. Used to play nL Zombies every day
The campaign is a potato masher simulator. Just awful.
does anybody knows where i can find serch and detroy servers ?

[th]PROS:
+ Age goes against most classic games, to me.... these games have gotten better with age thanks to Activision taking the true meaning out of Call of Duty games.
+ Not a single ridiculous skins in sight, just good old classic war uniforms, the way Call of Duty games we're meant to be.
+ Sound has improved if we're comparing it to Call of Duty 1.
+ Nostalgia always comes to mind when I come back to these type of games.

[th]CONS:
- Sadly the graphics are outdated... it's kinda funny to see hardly anything on a map next to what it's like now.
- No real story to speak of, just a bunch of soldiers going to war.

[th]VERDICT:
Going through these classic Call of Duty games really makes you think how bad publishers have fallen since the early 2000s I wasn't old enough to play these games on release but I can appreciate how good the classics are and I can confidently say that I'll be showing my children these golden games before they get slumped with the more modern games.
Kinda sad when you look back at what we had....

Review to Call of Duty 1: https://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198202022263/recommended/2620
perfect for angry issues
campaign is very fun however if you play multiplayer its all hackers.
Excellent game and one of the best WWII shooters as well. Classic FPS action, no gimmick levels or season passes or DLC you just shoot Nazis and that's it. Also works fine on Windows 11. 10/10
one of the best game in all history
nice
Huge Improvement to the original game Imo. This game Is one of the more underrated games In the entire franchise Imo. Yes I get this still your average WW2 fps, you still can't sprint or throw back grenades yet, but still Is a very fun and awesome game to play. The guns, the enemies, and missions are all very well put together and can be very tense In a lot of areas. Other than some small nit picks and out of all the first 3 cod games, this one Is probably my favorite one. not my favorite cod game, but some of my favorites in the series.
call of boogy 2
If you did not yet play this game . Probably you lost many things . in the history of games a history game. Excellent game . but i think Cod 1 is better just on my opinion.
Even in 2025, this game it's much better and fun than vanguard, modern warfare III and black ops 6.
though prone to raise aggression at its various missions but retains its entertainment value
6/10
It's fun but imo a step down from COD 1. I hate the spongy enemies and how there's 4-5 of the same 'liberate town then defend town' missions. Not as much mission variety and fewer memorable moments. Although there's clear improvements like checkpoints and regenerative health.kept crashing
10/10 would spam nade again!
zero cringe yy controller holding hands virgins
this game was even BETTER than cod 1. the graphics were so much better then cod 1. the missions were better, and had zero solo missions unlike cod 1's 3 solo missions. there were a large variety of weapons, like the gewer 43, and the MG-42 was not the only MG
Call of Duty peaked here
Over the years, I have replayed the classics CoD games many times, and all of them hold up pretty well, but especially CoD2 and WaW, I was never big on the Multiplayer before the OG MW, but the campaigns were the top!
A must try for FPS campaign fans imho.
You are drawn into a narrative, a story-line that pulls you along. You are an individual soldier, but who's pathway lies alongside that of his/her comrades.
Great classical WWII FPS shooter hoping for a modern remake...
this is the free bird of ww2 cod games
Shoot ZEGermans in ZEface and thats it. Classic game.
Ah... the good old days, when COD was good!
The graphics are a major improvement from CoD 1 (I played them back to back-ish, so the memory is fresh). I especially adored the rain in one of the levels, and the sunsets look beautiful.
Only negative I can think of is that scrolling to change weapons didn't work for me, so I had to press the buttons myself.
Edit: Actually. I think CoD 2 pulled a United Offensive and had infinitely respawning enemies. But it didn't feel too oppressive, because they would usually stop respawning once you reached their building.
I remember playing on the Xbox 360 when I was so young and loved it, playing it again is just amazing, 2 DECADES old yet this game holds up phenomenally. This and World At War were, not only some of the best CoD games, but the best fps games ever
Back when call of duty was pretty cool, pew pew.
In my opinion these game had a great graphics improvement, but compared to all the things they added on United Offensive ( COD 1 Expansion Pack ), I miss too many things in these one, like: Sprint movement, Healing, also in Multiplayer they went so back when they already had Rank Up system, BAS gamemode with tanks and big maps, and much more gamemodes.
for some reason i always return to this game it was one of the first video games i ever played a decade and a half ago and i still like it , Honesty i think it still stands as a good game till now.
Not the full original single player game. I estimate only about one third of the original missions. Really dissapointed.
Pretty good. I hope it gets a sequel.
The start of the Xbox 360/PS3 Golden Age
Call of Duty 2 is what, in my mind, cemented the Call of Duty franchise into history. COD2 massively improves upon just about everything from the older games and it still holds up incredibly well. The graphics, weapon animations and motion captured animations are still impressive for a game from 2005. Keep in mind that this released after Half-Life 2 so to be able to survive that is a major achievement.
The Russian and American campaigns are gold with the British campaign being a lot less interesting. The Russian campaign is the highlight to me as I feel like the setting, minor narrative parts and level design is peak, however the American campaign is also a strong contender. The British campaign suffers in level design and is the least visually interesting, you end up fighting in a lot of barren sandy streets. Compared to the other 2 campaigns the British one doesn't hold up at all, its almost as if they ran out of time.
Call of Duty 2 is not just visually impressive, the gameplay is all there and the almost open-ended level design is amazing for the time. The D-Day mission still stands as one of the best in all of gaming due to it being so open, while it certainly has scripted sequences, once you reach the top of the cliff you're more or less free to go in any direction and into any trench to avoid the artillery. The ally and enemy NPCs actually fight each other and can die from just about anything. Allied NPCs really add a lot to the atmosphere and always existed to make you feel less like a one man army (even though you are). COD2s open-ended level design and freedom is what really stands out, there are numerous points where the levels open up, allowing you to flank and not telling you exactly where to go, this is something that not even Call of Duty: World at War managed to achieve. Every weapon in the game is useful and utilised, even the smoke grenades.
Overall, this is absolutely worth playing, obviously its aged but no where near to a point where its not enjoyable.
Fantastic campaign and great graphics for 2005. This game is a classic
