About the Included Games:
Doom (1993) - Original Version
The demons came and the marines died...except one. You are the last defense against Hell. Prepare for the most intense battle you’ve ever faced. Experience the complete, original version of the game released in 1993, now with all official content and Episode IV: Thy Flesh Consumed.
Doom II – Original Version
Hell has invaded Earth, and to save it, you must battle mightier demons with even more powerful weapons. This beloved sequel to the groundbreaking DOOM (1993) introduced players to the brutal Super Shotgun, the infamous Icon of Sin boss, and more intense FPS action.
TNT: Evilution
The UAC relocated their experiments to one of the moons of Jupiter. A spaceship, mistaken for a supply vessel, was granted access. But when it got close to the base, demons poured out. All your comrades were slaughtered or zombified. This time it's not about survival. It's about revenge.
The Plutonia Experiment
Every effort has been made by the nation's top scientists to close the seven interdimensional Gates of Hell, but one portal remains open. Alone, you must infiltrate the ravaged base, defeat the demon Gatekeeper, and seal the last Hell portal before the undead take over the world.
Master Levels for DOOM II
This expansion includes twenty additional levels, all with the same hell-spawned horrors and action of the base game. Each level was created by independent designers and supervised by id Software.
Sigil
Created by id Software co-founder, John Romero, and released as an episode-sized mod consisting of 18 new maps, Sigil fits in between the timelines of DOOM (1993) and DOOM II. Baphomet, the gatekeeper of Hell, “glitched the final teleporter with his hidden sigil, whose eldritch power brings you to even darker shores of Hell. You fight through this stygian pocket of evil to confront the ultimate harbingers of Satan, then finally return to become Earth’s savior.”
Legacy of Rust
Created in collaboration by id Software, Nightdive Studios, and MachineGames, Legacy of Rust is the newest episode for DOOM, and the first official episode since DOOM II to feature new demons and weapons. This 16-map Episode is broken up into two 8 map sections: The Vulcan Abyss and Counterfeit Eden.

One of the best games of all time, and this Steam version is very VERY good. It has enough options to play either vanilla or enhanced without overloading with way too many options like some source ports do.
So doom. It has been around since 1993. the OG dooms have gone through a few variations over the year. The KEX engine keeps all the old tricks and stuff from the OG"s, but enables wide screen, and the res is higher than the orginals.
They put SR50 back in for speed running, which makes it great for me. I would recomend this for anyone interested in "boomer shooters".
All in all it's a decent source port. I 100%'d the achievements, replayed each of the official DOOM/DOOM II expansions (SIGIL II is not in it for some reason) and played the new DOOM II expansion "Legacy of Rust".
My main gripes with the source port are mouse sensitivity being tied to FPS and what feels like inconsistencies in movement (bouncing backwards when hitting walls and wallstrafing occasionally going mad fast, although I might be forgetting these happening in other source ports). Replacing the Nazi imagery in the Wolfenstein secret level and changing the health crosses to green colors seem like pointless changes, but don't really bother me.
Speaking of Legacy of Rust. New weapons are boring and make me miss plasma and BFG. As for the new enemies: Mindweavers, Shocktroopers and Tyrants are alright, but the rest are meh. Level design is visually very impressive, the music is hit and miss, gimmicks (such as in the secret level Panopticon) are sometimes pretty fun, "puzzles" are alright, but overall I just wanted to get it over with and don't think I'll be replaying it again.
Didn't try multiplayer or custom WADs so I can't say much about them. I'd expect co-op to be less of a hassle than other source ports. Custom WADs are curated and I've heard the system has other issues as well (people mistakenly uploading WADs in order to play them, Thatcher's Techbase banned).
I'd recommend it to anyone who wants to replay the classic WADs in a modern source port without much hassle in the setup. If you're looking to play custom WADs however, personally I'd pick another source port.
Doom + Doom II evolved into a better remaster where you play the original two games and the expansion packs, especially the latest one Legacy of Rust thanks to Nightdive Studios.
Doom is a straightforward FPS game with elements of horror, science fiction, action and dark fantasy which makes it one of the most inspirational first-person shooters in history. The game starts off when you play as a space marine stranded on Mars while everyone else is either dead or reanimated into zombified foot soldiers. At the same time, you fight your way through countless hellspawn (e.g. imps, pinkies, lost souls, cacodemons, barons of hell), traps and hazardous environments (e.g. radioactive slime, lava) that can deplete your health if you’re not careful. The music made by Bobby Prince was catchy. The levels vary from design to design but some are more difficult and time consuming than others. The weapons are very efficient and good to use especially the chainsaw, pistol, shotgun, chain-gun, rocket launcher, plasma gun and the BFG 9000. The enemies vary from zombified humans to demonic hellspawn not hesitant to kill you at every turn. The items range from minuscule to really handy (e.g. supercharge, computer map and backpack containing extra ammunition). The secrets were useful but can be hard to find if you’re stuck. Overall, this game is a blast and deserves to be called a classic. Overall Rating: 10/10
Doom II takes place directly after Doom on Earth instead of Mars, proving that the full-on invasion by the hellspawn is far from over and you have to put a stop to their plans before it’s too late. The gameplay is exactly the same as its predecessor but with a new weapon (super shotgun), new powerup (megasphere) and new enemies (e.g. chaingunners, mancubi, archviles, revenants, pain elementals). The secret levels take creative inspiration from Wolfenstein 3D. Bobby Prince once again made great music for the game to add a bit of suspense, action and pacing. Overall, Doom II: Hell on Earth is an excellent sequel and thanks to it’s inspiration people made their own mods out of the Doom engine. Overall Rating: 10/10
Quick Reviews:
The Plutonia Experiment: The Plutonia Experiment was one of the expansion packs of Final Doom but shares the same gameplay and music as Doom and Doom II despite the different level designs. Overall Rating: 10/10
TNT Evilution: TNT Evilution was one of the expansion packs of Final Doom, but it also shares the same gameplay as Doom and Doom II despite the different level designs and slightly new added music. Overall Rating: 10/10
No Rest for The Living: No Rest of the Living is a pretty simple standalone expansion pack for Doom II. Nothing more, Nothing less. Overall rating: 9/10
Master Levels of Doom II: Master Levels of Doom II is a collection of levels made by different developers, each with their own unique design and structure. Nothing else has changed and still remains the same. Overall Rating: 9/10
Legacy of Rust: Legacy of Rust proved itself to be a bad-ass expansion pack of Doom II with new enemies, two new weapons and badass music that keeps you going. This game is a blast from start to finish. Overall Rating: 10/10
DOOM + DOOM II
Overall Rating: 10/10
All the original to love and more. So much additional content. So nice not having to deal with the DOS version! Everything just works. Works great with Xbox controller too.
It's Doom. You already own it on every platform under the sun, including other PC releases and even on your fridge. But there's no reason *not* to buy it again.
It's the greatest FPS ever developed, and even today there are excellent mods being made by the community. Nightdive did a wonderful job porting DOOM to their Kex engine, but you also get the necessary files (called WADs) for other source ports if you want to experiment. For example, if you want to look up and down, check out source ports like GZDoom.
It's DOOM. If you don't know whether you like DOOM or not, well you do. It's one of the most important FPS games of all time.
While the control scheme may feel dated, you may be surprised at how quickly you adjust to the mechanics. Furthermore, once you own DOOM, you can mod it through GZDoom or Zandronum in order to have free-look and other quality of life upgrades.
If you've played DOOM before, this release is worth it for the remixed soundtrack alone. Andrew Hulshut painstakingly recreated every track from both DOOM and D2, and they both carry on the original feel and melody of the soudntracks, while exploring the possibilities of those songs in extremely interesting ways.
The game also includes a nice array of post-launch releases and a robust mod browser.
Basically, if you don't own this collection, you should Go To Hell!
It's Doom. And Doom II. And A LOT of extra fun stuff. For $10 (Or equivalent).
old ≠ bad, doom isn't overrated its amazing, its a bit disorientating at first but it becomes more natural.
Endless mods make this one of the true must buy games - EVER. So worth getting if you don't own, there are 1000s ands 1000s of mods of anything you can think of pretty much.
Everything you love about old school Doom, all polished up and ready for violence. Stacked with content. Worth every penny.
Disclaimer: I've played a lot of DOOM but not a lot of this port. I realized it wasn't for me but it's still quite good!
It's not my favorite port, but it's the best one for anyone who isn't trying to do zero presses and glides.
What I like:
+Runs great, very smooth
+Cheat menu is very handy
+Crossplay is great
+"Your memory serves you well" when I enter needlessly obscure cheats like fhhall from Doom95
+Game logic works at 35fps, as God intended
+Option to always start with pistol is great (most levels, even custom ones, are designed to be beaten on pistol start anyway).
What I don't like:
-Stupid company icons as you launch the game. I know it's id (and Bethesda), and so does everyone else. First launch is ok but give us an option to disable it in the settings.
-Missing options: toggle for mouse movement, coordinate display, input display, short tics
-Need a way to reset all the settings to their defaults in-game. I changed my FOV but want the default back.
-Is SR50 always on? Because I feel like I'm going a little too fast. it'll also absolutely break sequences since most of DOOM wasn't built around SR50. If the logic runs at 35 fps, you'll absolutely fail to trigger linedefs or teleporters. But most people won't be straferunning anyway.
-Glides are probably impossible because mouse movement isn't a thing
-Achievements should be disabled if you turn cheat codes on. I guess it's easy to get 100% achievements on this.
-No demo compatibility (because no short tics)
Thoughts that don't change my opinion:
=Legacy of Rust is cool, but feels closer to Heretic and Hexen. Maybe that's intended?
=Green icons on medikits and stimpacks is really confusing since I'm used to the red ones. But, it's because the Red Cross is annoying, so I understand.
=Crosshair is cool but I turned it off. I'm not sure if they fixed the issue of never truly firing from the center, but I turned the crosshair off immediately.
=Fireblu will still obliterate your bitrate, it is inevitable
=Do you think Sunder can run on this? Sunder runs like shit on this
Overall, I think it's more than enough to suit all but the fringest, sweatiest use cases, but as a fringy sweatlord, it doesn't quite do it for me. How often do I zero press? Never. How often do I glide? Rarely. How often do I SR50? Every night before bed. Despite that, I'll probably find myself playing it just so I can play with friends. The alternative is Zdaemon, and I'm not really into that either.
I'd recommend it to everyone except maybe 4shockblast. Even then I'm sure he's not bitter and nostalgic like I am and will have fun with it.
Perfect, huge content, nice KEX port, huge amount of BOOM compatible mods and wads in the browser for endless content. Faithfull to the original game and all packed in a modern interface.
the cool dad of the fps genre
I laughed when I saw I only have four hours played (I guess this very specific for this version). Anyway Shoot demons/monsters/barrels/stuff something doesn't die shoot it again, open monster closets rinse repeat. This game mutates your DNA making you want more, it's not addictive, its far more sinister. Before it was called a First Person Shooter this style of game was called Doom or Doom clone for years. Those were the days that called 35 frames per second incredibly fast, responsive and silky smooth.
There is a box at the bottom saying "Check this box if you received this product for free" Well I have bought prior versions, multiple time on multiple platforms so is that "free?"
Really enjoying this enhanced throwback to my childhood. And a happy childhood it was indeed thanks to masterpieces like these.
I have particularly enjoyed "no rest for the living" thus far before I jump onto the more recent stuff. The level design is just genius and the amount of demons is nothing short of sadistic.
It's lovely to be able to say that after all these years, from 8 years old to 38 years old, this game can still excite me and make my palms sweat. I truly love this game and being able to mess around with the countless different mods is also hugely entertaining. There's hours and hours of gameplay to be enjoyed here. Thank you :)
What a classic. In Doom 1 and 2 their creative levels and new soundtrack makes this is one of the best games. I was introduced to Doom by Doom Eternal. This game changed the gaming industry.
This is actually so much fun regardless of the "eww yucky yucky graphics" and "why can't i look up?"
Just as good as doom remake. Just trust.
And also because of the modding community (I'm looking at you hdoom devs)
This is a very great shooter for a game that came out in 1993. I recommend this to people that love the history of old shooter games. Heck, doom isn’t even old, it has aged so well that people to this day are still modding it.
A true classic with unlimited modding options. The daddy of all first person shooters.
Two of my most favorite child hood games. Extremely happy they brought the achievements to steam as I've 100% them on my old xbox1 and ps4, so it feels nice to be rewarded :D 10/10, classic, also I frick heavy with the new soundtrack the old soundtrack is also golden. Can't get enough of these games, doom slayer, and running rapidly around motha fuckin archviles!!!!
It's Doom. Why haven't you bought this already? It's fun to play, easier than ever to mod, and the community content is near endless. There's a reason it's got a dedicated space on my hard drive.
Easiest recommendation I've made yet.
This truly is the definitive way to play these classics and their mods (besides using a sourceport)
This has to be one of the best re-releases of an old classic.
Two games packed into one, with an additional seven(!) expansions to choose from.
This bundle has a lot of quality of life settings and runs at 120FPS, feels like a dream to play this on a modern PC.
One of the best features in my opinion would be the remixed soundtrack! Just blast through the games and listening to that hardcore music is a dream come true for a fan of the series.
Enjoyed doom and doom 2 on your 486 / Pentium back in the days? Well, pop a cold one and bring back nostalgia with this bundle over the next weekend, you won't regret it.
+ high framerates
+ a canon master levels order
+ online multiplayer!
+ museum of unused and early art
+ the old music does not sound like a bad soundfont anymore
+ software rendering
- the new episodes feel like a legacy tc
- the difficulty curve for master levels is bad
- mod menu buggy, trash filled, and bethesda.net required
- online multiplayer is bethesda.net only and is restricted to the official maps
- some hard achievements are too cheatable.
- the load/save menu is bad, you have to scroll down to make a new save
- software rendering
- you were forced to use keyboard+mouse to play with no option for the old controls at release.
This is a really fantastic collection! Really love the re-imagined soundtrack from Andrew Hulshult as well.
What an incredible job Nightdive did with this port.
I've been a fan of Brutal Doom running under GZ Doom for a while and love the changes it has made to the game, but I must give great credit to this new port as well.
This port keeps things simple and offers by far the easiest way to enjoy these games with no problems on modern systems.
Just think how Doom used to run "out of the box" on Steam before this port existed. It worked via DOS Box but had absolutely no quality-of-life enhancements or multiplayer capability.
What everyone really had to do was install GZDoom and take the WAD files out of the Steam installation to play it. This just makes everything so much easier.
On top of that it was given away to free for everyone who previously owned the games, costs next to nothing if you did not own it previously, contains all the official expansions, has an insane number of quality-of-life enhancements, makes multiplayer easy to get up and running and has built in mod support!
It's an alright port of the game. I still prefer DSDA-Doom. I keep having a bunch of little audio problems and they really need to refine the mod page. There are plenty of other gripes people have, but honestly it's serviceable and the sheer amount of content now available and easily accessible is really, really cool. I'm also really excited to see what people do with the ID24 standard, if Legacy of Rust is anything to go off of.
Good ole nostalgia run - just played thru LEGACY OF RUST and it hits all the right buttons. This is clearly a sign that we need doom 2.5!

Always going to recommend classic DOOM! Even the new ones just don't have the same feel...Doom (2016) was great but I really disliked the changes they made in Eternal.
I used to play this on zDoom a lot as a kid, so I do miss being able to jump, lol.
This new version of Classic DOOM really outshines the original Unity ports by Bethesda and Nerve Software respectfully. The biggest feature in my eyes is the return of actual functional online multiplayer that didn't require Doom Explorer or Zandronum. It's incredibly streamlined to create multiplayer matches now. I'm happy that this feature came back, because the only way you used to be able to do it on consoles was back on the Xbox 360. Besides the fact it's dead AND delisted on there, it wasn't the best way to play the game honestly. This version allows for up to 16 player deathmatch and co-op too, which is just the cherry on top. The fact they made custom death match levels too warms my heart, Nightdive went all out for this release multiplayer wise.
This isn't even to mention the brand new episode entitled: "Leagcy Of Rust", which may I add is absolutely phenomenal of an experience. If there was ever a sequel to The Plutonia Experiment, this would probably be it. Legacy Of Rust is one of the best DOOM expansions ever officially released and while being extremely hard, is definitely a lot of fun to play. The fact they also included SIGIL in this package alongside a bunch of achievements is absolutely phenomenal. You also get the option to change what kind of soundtrack you want, either by Bobby Prince or Andrew Hulshult. Both are way too good. I love playing this new port and plan on playing it even more when I get the time. I think Nightdive outdid themselves with what they allow, including BOOM compatibility, and the new ID24 mapping format. This port was something that we needed for 30 years of DOOM, and they absolutely delivered. This game is a blast to play with buddies. I absolutely recommend it.
DOOM + DOOM II is probably the best (official) way to play boomer doom in 2024.
The in-game mod browser has opened up an entirely new world of doom for me, and I've been discovering great WADs to keep me hooked.
The mod browser itself needs some work and is quite finicky (at the time of writing this review) since there's no easy way to find what you're looking for.
In terms of the game itself, it runs super smooth (it should, it's doom) and the multiplayer is super fun, especially the "modern co-op" setting which makes it a bit easier to convince others to play it with you.
Now I'm just hoping they'll allow us to start playing mods via multiplayer!
This game is freaking awesome and i would recommend anybody mature enough of handle all of the basic and i mean basic violence of this video/computer game then i would say go for it (for purchasing it anyways)
Great little update for the modern era + achievements 😍😍
Could have included an in built option for mouse look and the mod section could have included support for mods like Brutal Doom/texture packs however.
Pretty please update the wads in Doom BFG 😭😭
Classic Doom with an easy to navigate menu system, changeable remixed soundtrack, extra content and easy click and play mod support for under 20 bucks. Easily recommended for any die-hard fan, or if you don't already own these great games.

DOOM Runner + GZDOOM (Or any sourceport of your liking) + Countless of PWADS/MODS = Infinite hours of fun <3
P.S. Legacy of Rust is an amazing expansion. I highly recommend it to anyone and everyone.
This is a good release of most of the official and semi-official Doom 1 and 2 content. It's not like other source ports available that can change up the visuals or add mouse look, but instead it remains very faithful to the original with some improvements to resolution, aspect ratio scaling, different sound fonts, good controller support, and other small quality of life options. Multiplayer also worked very well and was easy to set up.
One con is the Bethesda account required to download community uploaded mods, and it never seems to stay logged in. Having the mod browser is a good idea but hasn't been executed very well. It's serviceable I guess.
Of course this is a recommend. Its the complete package Doom from 1 and 2 to Final doom and Master levels. You can't go wrong with this, complete with a number of QoL enhancements that makes multiplayer sooo much easier to setup, and a custom WAD workshop to browse and explore tons of user created content you really have no shortage of options in playing this golden throwback of the 90s. You even have added a whole new and free campaign that's added new enemies and weapons to the mix! This is definite buy, its a classic... its Doom!
I had a working game before, now there's awful fonts, broken menus and the sound dies on the loading screen. If you wanted to make me feel like I bought an 8-in-1 games CD from a street vendor you've succeeded.
Good presentation and everything. But built in input lag, really. just no
What can I say, one of my favourite video game of all time. I have been playing since I was 3, yes 3 years old when I first saw my dad playing it on our basement computer.
I have tried many variations, mods and source ports for Doom over the years. This one stays true to the classic, while maintaining a modern feel. It is great that there are various settings to choose from, downloadable wads, being able to play the master levels and now the new episodes just with a couple of clicks.
I just wish that I was able to transfer all my offline game play on my desktop (and from older PCs) into Steam to show the true amount of hours put into Doom :P
It's not a bad release of Doom, but it feels underwhelming compared to the recent releases of Quake 1 and Quake 2. The new music is nice, though it's only featured in the original Doom 1 and Doom 2 campaigns. The new campaign is decent but doesn’t offer much beyond two new weapons and four new enemies. The game is somewhat unstable, often crashing in menus. When compared to GZDoom, this release falls short in every way: stability, performance, graphics, mod support, and available options are all worse.
you combined the games and broke the mods I was running that probably wont ever get reuploaded into the new in game launcher. I did not ask to get these games combined and did not want it. I hate it. It was fine.
This engine is awful. The movement sucks, sounds don't work if there are too many playing, and there are a bunch of graphical issues. I would use a better source port (GZDoom, etc.)
The only good thing is that you get the official IWADs, but the Wolfenstein levels were censored in the Doom 2 WAD so not really. Very disappointing.
I could barely get through the simple achievements without wanting to quit so I didn't even attempt the more difficult ones.
Bethesda, and Microsoft are using and allowing AI generated levels by plagiarizing 30 years worth of original levels to flood their mods page and giving no credit to creators who actually make levels through an engine made by google called "GameNgine". If you plan to mod doom do it the old fashioned way and keep actual human creativity alive.
Yeah, these are good games. I can't speak to the quality of the port because that's really not my focus, I'm more just happy to be playing the classics and all the later releases. There's so much of modern FPS design that owes itself to DOOM and I'm always impressed when I see something technically amazing being pulled off with the limitations of the engine and the "only one surface at a time, no getting on roofs and no tunnels under buildings" rule.
This is a very basic port of Doom and it's original gameplay, playable in whatever resolution and framerate you want, including the DOS versions if you're an ultra purist.
It's good for that, but Legacy of Rust is also a great expansion, and playing No Rest For the Living without having to deal with those old 360/PS3 ports of doom and/or finding a WAD for it.
Plus, all the other official expansions for the game, with both TNT Evilution and Plutonia, Master Levels for Doom 2, and even Sigil.
(Plus some unregulated WAD uploading onto the bethesda thing)
that's about the only downside to this, is the bethesda net stuff is kinda stupid to put in a game that you originally never needed an internet connection for, but it is more optional than the Unity ports this replaces.
I don't think it's really worth 10 USD or 15 CAD, so buy it on sale, unless you don't feel like messing with GZDoom and it's millions of settings, or finding a good source port that keeps things as vanilla as possible.
