One of the first Steam purchases I've come to regret. I was intrigued by the beautiful artwork and gameplay trailer but the finished product feels more like an unpolished Indie game. The controls are absolutely terrible at times, particularly when you are playing as the cat. His jumps are comically wide, making precision platform jumping with this character extremely frustrating. Sometimes the main character will refuse to move forward after a cutscene, causing you to have to exit the game and relaunch. The vast majority of this game involves puzzle solving and most of the puzzles are tedious and not the least bit fun. The game itself feels like a chore to complete.

the game had a great potential, but unfortunately the developers were not able to fully realize it. Also I want to say right away that I do not understand those who complain about the controls, I had no problems with it.
pros:
- good platforming mechanics and 2.5D graphics,
- interesting gameplay with girl and cat intercation (you can control both),
- convenient controls,
- decent level design.
- cool puzzles.
cons:
- too short game and not enough content (I would like more puzzles and ideas with girl-cat interaction),
- very weird and incomplete storyline,
- a terrible incomprehensible ending (the game ends as chopped off).
The biggest flaw for me is the plot and especially uninspired ending. The ending ruined the game for me a lot.
But I still can rate it with a stretch of 7/10 and recommend this game to those who love platformers and puzzles.

Intriguing environment. I like the steam punk fantasy elements and then the way it changes is great. The puzzles so far have been challenging but not impossible, so it moves pretty quickly. I also love how you get to change from the girl to the cat and they each have special things they can do.

A very nice and short platformer game. The visuals and music are beautiful. The story is interesting for a short game and it doesn't overstays its welcome. Definitely give it a try if you are a fan of platformer.

Game play: 3/5.
Responsiveness: 5/5.
Technical (glitches) 0/5.
Many, many issues. Never had a game with so many tech glitches. I have reinstalled twice.... That is all the help desk at Another Sight has to offer. I was going to keep it even though it moves slow and the puzzles are easy yet confusing and not explained well, but, after reinstalling twice, getting money back.

This game is hot garbage. I played through it and I can tell you the entire blurb for what the game is, that is complete nonsense. the puzzles get more and more awful towards the end due to the fact the camera angle will obscure the primary details to the edge of the screen.

There is no character development, they don't actively deal with blindness in any capacity just limited vision and a differing perspective. There is no real bond between the girl and the cat and while the music is amazing and kit's monologues are good we are left with increasingly obtuse game play and shallow characters and a complete non ending.

I bout this game during a sale and now am completely convinced I should have bought some goldfish crackers because I would have more enjoyment eating those and listening to an orchestra than wrestling with these controls again.

I give this game a SOLID participation ribbon and pat on the back for great visuals that you GET TO SEE SOME OF THE TIME. Pass on this. If something like forgotten anne is available buy that instead. Or goldfish crackers.

i wish id known beforehand that it was slow game play, basically she stumbles around in the dark a lot, though the cat can see better and runs everywhere its controls are beyond awkward and clunky at best. i really wanted to love this game but honestly at $9.95 i still feel like i wasted my money - couldn't get past more than 30 minutes of it. thumbs down sadly.

A young girl Kit falls down a hole, wakes up blind, teams up with an agile cat named Hodge and off they go through strange, beautifully rendered Victorian worlds meeting up with various characters from history to find out how they landed here. That's the premise of Another Sight in a nutshell and while the story is told admirably through cartoonish, coloring book cutscenes it unfortunately doesn't go as deep as I hoped. In the end it didn't hurt the game too much as I found its teamwork puzzle/platforming/stealth shenanigans mostly a blast to trek across.

The core gameplay is based around figuring out which character can do what. Hodge acts as Kit's eyes and helps her see further, make jumps and discover places where she needs to interact with different buttons/switches/machinery. Of the two Kit is slower but capable when Hodge is leading the way, so you'll be using his cat skills to run, leap, climb, flick switches with his paws and meow to distract guards in the later levels so Kit can advance from one hiding spot to the next. Like the majority of many modern platformer games I found the controls to have that "slipping n' sliding on black ice" feel that you need to master. Everybody feels like they are walking on skates when it comes to getting around. So there's definitely a learning curve if you're playing with a keyboard commando set-up. Once I got the hang of it I did pretty well but there were a few moments where I wanted to pull my hair out.

A huge highlight of the game for me was the graphics. I legitimately wanted to see which character I'd meet next and what their respective gaming world looked like. The characters are ably drawn and animated in the sidescrolling action but they are truly small time when taking in the grandiose Victorian gardens, underworld sewers, ancient ruins, Captain Nemo's brief aquatic areas, etc. My only beef is that there wasn't more of them. I got about 7 hours out of the game give or take and I had enough fun with it that I was hoping for at least another area or three. The sound backs up the graphical presentation nicely though the areas are absolutely top dog in the A/V department.

Unfortunately, there are some glitched n' half-baked elements to the game that could have used some polish past release. I had no problems with lag or frame-rate drops performing the basic side-to-side action. Where I encountered the torments of hell were every time that I rode one of the longer elevators. Kit and Hodge would bounce around like they were stuck in a gumball machine with one of them sometimes falling through the floor of the lift and getting killed...causing me to have to restart one section numerous times (I had to reload this checkpoint in Tesla's realm 11 friggen times to get past the insanity). It definitely could be a dealbreaker for the more easily frustrated and I got very, very close to the point of quitting. Thankfully, things eventually went in my favor.

With puzzles that are generally satisfying to solve, mostly fun running n' jumping action and the at least passable stealth elements, Another Sight gave me a pretty fun Christmas Eve and Christmas Day game to get through. I'd say it pairs well with something like Black the Fall or other platformers with a heavy emphasis on puzzling. The slight lack of polish might make this one best bought on sale (that's how I got it) just in case some of the weird elevator glitches end up knocking on your door and greeting you with a fist in the face when you answer the call.

The only good parts about this are that:
- you occasionally play as a cat
- there's some pretty good music and character art
- it portrays Edison as a despicable thug, which he was indeed.

Otherwise it's a short, extremely pretentious, extremely buggy game that ultimately is not that fun to play. Have I mentioned how buggy this is? It's like literally every 5 minutes something goes wrong: the game crashes, you die inexplicably, the sound cuts out, you get stuck in a wall, etc.

Yesterday I bought Another Sight on sale.
I have been playing it for the past 2 days.
On my first run i already finished the game, but without getting all the achievements.
That is why i decided to spend another day just to do that.

On YouTube i see people finish the game in about 2,5 to 3 hours.
But as typical as always it took me a whole while longer, to be precize 13,1 hours according to Steam.
(I am guessing tho that some of the time i may not even have played but just went down stairs for dinner or whatever with the game still on XD)
(Also i got lost in levels a few times or kept dying because i was not seeing something crucial.)

Without giving away too much info....
Another Sight is a fantasy story about a teenage girl called Catherine Nightingale, also known as kit.
Kit lost her sight by a accident in the underground and once she wakes up she meets this mysterious cat that she calls Hodge.
Hodge and Kit have a special connection from the very start and together they work their way through all kind of obstacles.
Because of Kit's accident she hardly sees anything but when you switch to Hodge the surrounding is clear as day.
While kit can pull all the levers, press buttons and move objects. Hodge will be able to see everything, get on the hard to reach places and distract guards.
During the game you do a lot of going back and forth as one always needs to help the other out to continue.
Along with the overall gameplay and storie line there are also here and there some puzzles to solve and items to collect.

Personally i liked how most levels looked and how Kit sometimes talks to the cat.
There are not many games on which i get a 100% on achievements but this one was easy and fun enough to do so :)
So if you are interested and can get it on sale be sure to check it out.

Phew! I've finally finished the game. At over 12 hours, it was quite a marathon!
You play Kit, a girl who went blind after a fall and her faithful companion Hodge who helps her. I had a DLC where I could change Hodge into any colour I wanted.
Kit and Hodge explore a world underneath London and in their journey they meet Claude Monet, Nikola Tesla, Claude Debussy, Thomas Edison and Jules Verne. This is late Victorian era. All the luminaries are after the Node, a fabled source of energy which all of them want to use for their purposes. At the end Kit has to make a choice whose cause to support. Whatever ending you choose, there is a cutscene at the end. You can go back and play the other endings too. What a difficult choice to make!!
Each of the worlds that Kit and Hodge explore are interesting and it is good that the environment changes. There is a lot of climbing and jumping to do....and guards to dodge. Most of the puzzles are fairly easy. Many complained about Hodges jumping, but I had no issues. I actually found Kit hard to manage and there were times when she simply wouldn't jump!
So game play could be dodgy at times. Once Kit got into a corner and she wouldn't move, so I had to start the chapter again.
The girl who played Kit's role was excellent with her crisp English accent. Reminded me of Julie Andrews! Some of Kit's dialogues were delightful as she pondered the world around her. Hodge agreed with a miaow!
The music is beautiful and played by a full symphonic orchestra. The other actors were good too, especially whoever played Debussy who was slightly and deliciously mad!
Recommended for those who enjoy light platforming with a slight clunkiness and an interesting story. Buy on sale. 8/10.

Another Sight is all over the place: on the one hand, you have an enjoyable puzzle-platformer with minor stealth elements in which you must constantly switch between a young, nearly blind girl and a mysterious cat in order to successfully traverse imaginative environments with plenty of references to famous Victorian innovators - and bullies, like Edison - and lovely hand-drawn cutscenes to bring the narration into life; on the other, you have a half-baked storyline with many plot holes, plain puzzles and cranky, inconsistent mechanics that jumble the gameplay unnecessarily. As such, the final outcome is a tie between good and bad that is favourably broken by the Alice in Wonderland feel it evoked for me. Beyond that, it remains a lukewarm recommendation for players who may prefer a calmer, more scenic take on puzzle-platforming.

Beautiful stages and beautiful music. A little clumsy but likeable characters. The motions of the cat are so gawky that its really funny! :D
Only neg for me, this so called "definitive edition"'s graphics isn't too sharp, everything is blurry... But the stages are beautiful even in their blurry state. 80/100

Though I've only played a couple of hours I was hooked from the get go. Being a person who loves puzzle games I found myself in paradise. I can say I loved figuring out what Alice or Hodge the cat had to do after several failed attempts ( and dying) lol! I just know it takes time because with Alice her vision is very limited compared to Hodge's brighter view. I found patience is needed, timing in some areas, and switching back and forth between Alice and Hodge is key to completeting certain objectives. Also, Alice will sometimes tell me what she needs to do, for example she states: "If only I could see." Then I had to figure out what to do.

Th graphic are very well done and crisp. The story is intriguing though I have thus far learned most of it by listening to Alice as she talks to Hodge as the travel on their journey together. Also the cut scenes add to the story and help me figure out how to complete certain tasks along the way.

All in All I would recommend this game ot anyone who likes this type of genre.

[REVIEW EDITED 31 May 2019]

Interesting game with an unusual idea behind it ... no, not the tag-team puzzle-platforming, that's old hat, but that one of the two characters you control apparently has gone temporarily synaesthetic and sees sound as light, meaning sometimes she needs a noise in her vicinity or she can't see where she's going.

Also has (at least as far as I got) an amusingly bizarre storyline, featuring Monet, Edison, Tesla, and Mme. Blavatsky, all trying to control a McGuffin of Cosmic Power ... buried somewhere below late-1800's London?

Also has a cat. I like games that have cats.

Unfortunately, this is a thumbs-down review because the controls will make you tear your hair out. I tried very hard. I made it through several sections where the cat's jumps were so unreliable that I had to repeat what should have been a very simple series of jumps twenty times. But it was somewhere in Tesla's lab, when both characters have to get past a series of six lightning spindles, that I couldn't take it any more. The cat is easy enough; he can see the circles on the ground that mark the limits of the areas where the lightning will hit. But the girl can't see the circles well enough. And though there's a spreading glow which precedes each stroke of lightning, by the time you realize you're a millimeter too far and are going to get hit by lightning, it's too late to move out of the way. Or her walking speed suddenly decides to change. Or the movement controls suddenly don't respond as well as they should. Restart whole sequence. Did I mention this game does not have manual saves?

[2019] The developers posted a comment that the Definitive Edition has fixed or improved these issues, so I started the game again from the beginning. I didn't notice much difference in control; it might have been that some parts were a LITTLE easier to handle, but not much. It seemed like there was a little more leeway for when Hodge is willing to grab onto an edge, which is nice. One sequence in the Hodge-only hallucination level (jumping between pillar tops) still had me cussing just as much as I remember cussing before; he skids a little and sometimes falls off them even when you've done it right.

I do admit they fixed the lightning spindles puzzle; the circles on the ground are much easier to see now, and I feel like they built a little leeway into the safety radius.

Unfortunately, I eventually did give up in disgust again. The stealth puzzles had been annoyingly designed to begin with (the threshold on how close you can get to a guard is extremely finicky, Hodge's meow has very unreliable "distract" behavior depending on which guard it is and how far away he is, and Our Heroine sometimes stops to look around when you D+E to take her out of concealment). I got through them all right, though, until not long after the piano puzzle. Then, trying to figure out how to get idiot girl down the long series of descending platforms while SIMULTANEOUSLY avoiding/distracting guards just broke me. I stopped at a point where she needed to jump across a two-foot gap but I couldn't find anything to make enough noise/light to convince her her jump button worked. Hodge is meowing at her "jump across, stupid" from the other side. Guard can't be drawn close enough to provide light. No dice. Fall scream die, cat is now reset to four platforms away, repeat. I am here to figure out puzzles, not figure out how to coerce the game's play mechanics into cooperating. (I later went and looked at a playthrough and apparently for some people having the cat there--in the exact same place I put him-- is enough light for her to make the jump, which just illustrates my point about how inconsistent the mechanics are.)

I said it last year and I'll say it again: Manual saves would help this game a lot. A LOT. These things would still be frustrating, but at least you could save in tiny incremental steps. I don't mind being at the mercy of a game's checkpoint mechanism usually, but in this game, you often can't even guess where it's going to put you after you die. There was one point, on my first attempt, where I had to repeat a whole sequence because I didn't realize the game had reset to a point where Hodge was sitting by a press-once-only button (the wind panel in the ruins) but had undone the fact that *he had already pressed it*. Moved him along to his next bit of business, twenty jumps further on ... then had to send him all the way back because no wind to illuminate the grass, so the Synaesthesia Kid couldn't make those lousy two-foot jumps.

It's improved. It's still frustrating. Sorry, Lunar. I do believe you tried. Really.

A very good puzzle game with some great ideas.
The concept of the blind girl helped by the cat is very original and every puzzle you have to solve with the two characters is inspired, different from the previous one and is challenging but not to the point to drive you crazy.
the only cons i can note are the control system which is kind of stiff and few moments when the game gets a bit slow.
My advice is to give it a try.

Edit: I have figured out the issue for the bug.

First, I want to address something. This game is slow. However, that is nowhere near a bad thing. It allows the audience to really take a look at the world and its beauty. I do commend them for making a game that is intentionally slow. I am certain that that was not a mistake.

Great Game
Lovely Art
Unique World Design
Interesting characters

I loved it because I wanted to experience something magical, and I did.

Another Sight is a very good surprise, it is a mix of platforming and puzzle elements. The main characters of the game are interested and well developed. It is very cool see out the relationship between the girl and the cat growing up during the game. The presence of real historical figures is a good plus.

This game does not seem to easily fit into a definite genre: a bit of adventure, some light platforming, a story, two swappable characters with different capabilities and limitations, some stealth, mild puzzles.
It has some shortcomings, especially on the platforming side: the cat controls could be smoother (as noted by other reviewers) the pace is sometimes slow when controlling the girl, there are a few backtracks that could have been avoided, and yet... it has its charm.

The graphics range from good to very good, both in the playable parts and in the hand-drawn encounter scenes (I especially liked the impressionist effects), the scenery is varied and sometimes gorgeous, the characters are likeable, the sound is good, the difficulty goes from very easy to moderate (which suits me fine), the game seems to be well balanced.
Puzzles are of different types and tend to increase in difficulty, but they never get 'impossible': a few situations require either precise positioning (I got electrocuted a lot) or good timing, but to a reasonable level even for a non-action player like myself. I only got stuck on the final puzzle and had to solve it the hard way; I guess I may have missed some clue [UPDATE: yes, I did indeed miss a clue that was staring me in the face].
The platform parts are never difficult (trust me, I'm an expert at being bad with platforming).
The game uses savepoints, but they are frequent enough not to be annoying. Also, when you die, you just restart in the immediate vicinity, so no problems here.
I encountered a couple of minor non-repeated glitches (like the cat 'dancing' against a wall), no real bugs or showstoppers.

After the first couple of levels I realized the best way to play Amother Sight is to play it leasurely, enjoying the scenery (especially with the cat) and the story. I then got used to the relaxed pace (especially when moving Kit, the girl) and found it natural.
I finished the game in about 7 hours (missing a few extras, shame on me) and it left a good impression. I should have used quotes here... but no spoilers ;-)
