Portal 2 expanded upon that perfect formula of portal 1 into something even greater. The gameplay is silky-smooth and intuitive, and the feeling of freedom in solving problems is both satisfying and very rewarding.
The way the game introduces and teaches you to master the new mechanics, like the propulsion and repulsion gels, is brilliant, layering each concept naturally into the puzzles without ever feeling overwhelming.
In this game especially, the story, voice acting, and atmosphere take center stage, masterfully binding it all into a perfect experience of humor, wit, and innovation.
and it has alot of content both a great single player mode and the co-op mode i have yet to experience it again as i've played the co-op mode before on console. and how can we forget about the great community of portal 2 workshop.
Portal 2 is not just a game; this is a timeless work of art. i 100% recommend this game also worth the price.
Life-changing, first proper story game I've played and a damn good one to start with, couldn't recommend more if i tried.
For a game that came way back in 2011, This well worth your time! Puzzle is engaging sometimes easy sometimes hard (and then when you realize, its actually easy but you keep thinking way to hard for it but in actuality its a solution obviously in front of you LOL), 11/10 I wish we have more games like this nowadays, or maybe Portal Thr--, *beeeps*
Portal 2 - a masterful blend of wit, innovation, and pure fun. The puzzles are brilliantly designed, offering a perfect mix of challenge and satisfaction. The story is engaging, with memorable characters and sharp humor. Whether playing solo or co-op, it’s an unforgettable experience that sets the bar high for puzzle-platformers. An absolute must-play for any gamer, especially if you have played the first instalment in the series!
My favourite moment in this entire game is The Part. The chapter popup on screen, the achievement, the dialogue and the wit, still think fondly about it today!
I loved playing this game! Compared to the original portal game, Portal 2 has a great use of comedy, and a much more intricate and complex story line. The game play mechanics are also incredibly clever.

From the moment you start the game, you're greeted with a vibrant and colorful environment to explore. The game's setting is a mysterious research facility, and you play as Chell, a test subject who's been awakened from stasis to find that the facility has been overrun by decay and neglect.
The gameplay is a blend of physics-based puzzles and platforming, with a variety of challenges that will test your problem-solving skills and reflexes. You'll need to use the portal gun to create portals on surfaces, allowing you to teleport between them and manipulate the environment to your advantage. But that's just the beginning - the game introduces new mechanics such as gels that can change the properties of surfaces, and lasers that can be redirected and focused.
But Portal 2 isn't just about solving puzzles. The game's witty humor and deep narrative are also highlights, with a memorable cast of characters including Wheatley, a personality core with a mind of his own, and GLaDOS, the malevolent AI from the first game. The game's story is more fleshed out than the first, with a surprising twist that will leave you questioning the nature of reality.
And for those who enjoy a more challenging experience, the game's difficulty curve is steep, with tough puzzles that will test your skills as a gamer.
The game's physics engine is also a highlight, with realistic physics and environmental interactions that make every encounter feel unique. You can use the game's physics to your advantage, such as using portals to redirect lasers or manipulate momentum.
So if you're a fan of puzzle-platformers and want a mind-bending adventure that takes everything that made the first game great and expands upon it, then Portal 2 is the game for you. With its vibrant and colorful environment, challenging gameplay, and engaging story, this game is a must-play for any fan of the genre. Just be prepared for a thrilling and sometimes intense journey into a world where nothing is as it seems.
It's very rare that I replay a story-driven game, because I never feel the same way as I did on the first playthrough. Portal 2 is an exception.
The environments, the characters, the writing, it's all so good. Even though I know the solutions to most of the puzzles by heart, I still keep coming back. At the time of writing, I've played through about five times. Every time I start the game up, it feels like coming home to an old friend. It's such a great stress-reliever as well. And yes, I always tear up a little bit at the end.
10/10, one of my favourite games.
If you thought Portal was good, wait til you try Portal 2, it's a masterpiece. From the lore to the voice acting, the choices Valve makes to make these games is incredible. Solid 10/10. One of the great classics.
"Portal 2 is a masterpiece of puzzles that combines clever mechanics and an exciting storyline. The game immerses you into a world of exciting challenges with portal technologies, forcing you to think outside the box. Wonderful humor and charismatic characters make every minute unforgettable. A must-pass for all fans of intellectual games!"
"Portal 2 — это шедевр головоломок, который сочетает в себе умные механики и захватывающий сюжет. Игра погружает в мир увлекательных испытаний с портальными технологиями, заставляя думать нестандартно. Прекрасный юмор и харизматичные персонажи делают каждую минуту незабываемой. Обязательно к прохождению для всех любителей интеллектуальных игр!"
The best story driven puzzle game ever made. Worth more than the 8 bucks it costs.
A massive improvement over Portal 1. The sequel addresses many of the criticisms of the original (movement is much better, puzzles are more complex and creative, and the singleplayer campaign is of a proper 8-9 hours in length) and introduces much-needed new mechanics, world-building, and character development. There are a some grievances: the game is still a linear Point A to Point B simulator with very little deviation, the humour is very hit-or-miss, and about 1/3 of the campaign is spent pixel-hunting for a tiny, white surface far into the background that you can shoot a portal onto. Still a good experience over a decade later, although this game is not as peerless as others claim it to be.
I already sang all my praises when I reviewed the original Portal game, but Portal 2 is a considerable step up to its preceding counterpart.
Portal 1 was great, I loved it, I think everyone should play it (preferably before Portal 2); but this one right here is a different beast. Portal 2 is a masterpiece, a genuinely perfect game. I've played the coop campaign with 4 different people, but - for some reason - never touched singleplayer. And oh boy did I miss out.
Portal 2 is so ahead of its time. If it was to come out today, people would easily pay AAA price for it. The graphics are great, the game is cinematic, the puzzles are fantastic; extremely creative, innovative, and challenging (but not too challenging), and the writing of the characters and story is absolutely hilarious.
Genuinely, this is the funniest game I've ever played, GLaDOS is as hilarious as ever and Wheatley is a perfect addition to the franchise.
I could go in-depth about every chapter and what makes it great for me, but there's no use, I don't really have a negative word to lose about this game. Easily one of the best games I've ever played - and a contender for the best and most timeless game ever made.
One of the best puzzle games ever made no doubt. 10/10. Will definitely recommend this game to every person that I meet from now on.

after beating this game across 6 separate platforms, i can confidently say that this is one of the most high quality games ever. genuinely amazing dialogue that made me laugh out loud multiple times over, even on repeat play-throughs. thought-provoking puzzles that can STILL stump me! (looking at you, chapter 8..) music that i have unironically listened to longer than my playtime across all variants of the game, and so so SO much more that i'd prefer to not ruin for people. just play the damn game!!!!!

Very interesting and logical puzzles. Didn't like Portal 1 too much, because game controller support was janky and so I could never complete the timed puzzles, but Portal 2 doesn't have that issue so far.
Not sure if it is the child in me that always wanted to play this game but never did that is so excited to finally purchase it and play it or if the game is simply that good... or both ;P
its an incredible puzzle game with an amazing story to go with it and you dont need to watch multiple yt tutorials just to get through one level but still get that feeling of accomplishment every time you pass a level (the ending was sick too)
Good game good puzzles good music I accept the apology btw
One of, if not the greatest games I have ever played. It has amazing puzzle mechanics with humour throughout. I have repurchased the game after playing it through my childhood on a separate account. The characters of Wheatley and GLaDOS have some of the funniest dialogue I have ever heard. The game is split into 3 major sections, The GLaDOS tests, the Underground/Old labs and finally the Wheatley tests with the final boss fight. The game introduces fun new mechanics well keeping it feeling the same without piling too much on at once.
A masterpiece both for puzzle games and in general, absolute 10/10.
**Review of *Portal 2***:
*Portal 2* is one of the most iconic puzzle-platformer games developed by Valve Corporation, and a sequel to the groundbreaking *Portal* (2007). Released in 2011, *Portal 2* builds on the successful formula of its predecessor, expanding its scope both narratively and mechanically, creating a more immersive and satisfying experience. Here’s a detailed review covering various aspects of the game:
### **Story and Atmosphere**
One of *Portal 2*'s greatest strengths is its rich and well-constructed narrative. Set in the same mysterious and decaying Aperture Science Laboratories, the story picks up some time after the events of the first game. The player once again takes on the role of Chell, the silent protagonist, who wakes up in the dilapidated facility and is immediately thrown back into a world of mind-bending puzzles and snarky artificial intelligence.
This time, *Portal 2* introduces new characters who add depth and humor to the story. Wheatley, a bumbling and often hilarious personality core (voiced by Stephen Merchant), acts as an early companion, and GLaDOS (voiced by Ellen McLain) returns as the iconic, sarcastic AI antagonist. The dynamic between Chell, Wheatley, and GLaDOS creates a story full of wit, dark humor, and sharp dialogue.
The game’s lore is further fleshed out through the discovery of Aperture Science’s past, introducing players to the company’s eccentric founder, Cave Johnson (voiced by J.K. Simmons), and his assistant, Caroline. The blend of humor, mystery, and eerie dystopian vibes gives the story an emotional punch, tying up both the absurdity and tragedy of the Aperture Science facility's downfall.
### **Gameplay and Mechanics**
At the heart of *Portal 2* is its puzzle-based gameplay, which revolves around using the "Aperture Science Handheld Portal Device" (portal gun) to create linked portals on surfaces, allowing players to move through space in inventive ways. The original *Portal* was revolutionary in introducing this mechanic, but *Portal 2* takes it to another level by adding new puzzle elements that increase the complexity and creativity required to solve puzzles.
#### New Mechanics:
- **Excursion Funnels:** Tractor beams that transport objects or the player.
- **Light Bridges:** Bridges made of hard light that can cross gaps or create paths.
- **Gels:** Three types of paint-like substances:
- *Repulsion Gel* makes you bounce off surfaces.
- *Propulsion Gel* lets you speed up on contact.
- *Conversion Gel* allows you to place portals on previously non-portalable surfaces.
These new mechanics keep the gameplay fresh and challenge the player to think in new and creative ways. The learning curve is expertly paced, with the game teaching new mechanics step by step before combining them into increasingly difficult puzzles. Each new challenge feels rewarding and logical, with that “aha!” moment when the solution clicks into place.
### **Level Design**
The level design in *Portal 2* is a masterclass in environmental storytelling and puzzle architecture. The game seamlessly integrates its narrative into the puzzle chambers, often revealing pieces of Aperture Science’s history through its derelict surroundings and hidden areas.
Early levels resemble the sterile testing chambers of the first game, but as the game progresses, the environments become more varied. You'll traverse the crumbling remnants of older sections of the facility, including vast underground caverns filled with relics of Aperture’s past. The contrast between the sleek, modern testing environments and the older, decaying sections creates a rich sense of place and history.
Valve’s level design is both visually impressive and functional. Every chamber feels meticulously crafted, with a smooth difficulty curve and a natural escalation of challenge. The levels never feel repetitive, and each new area introduces a new puzzle or mechanic, keeping the game constantly engaging.
### **Cooperative Mode**
In addition to the single-player campaign, *Portal 2* features a cooperative multiplayer mode that stands on its own as a highlight of the game. In co-op mode, two players control different robotic characters, Atlas and P-Body, as they work together to solve puzzles. This mode requires intense collaboration, communication, and teamwork, adding a new layer of complexity to the game’s mechanics. Players must often use four portals (two for each player) in combination with other puzzle elements to succeed.
The co-op campaign has its own unique story and set of puzzles, and the synergy between players makes it a highly enjoyable and rewarding experience. The interactions between Atlas, P-Body, and GLaDOS (who still manages to inject her signature snarkiness into co-op) add humor and charm to this mode.
### **Graphics and Sound Design**
Visually, *Portal 2* is stunning. While it may not have the graphical fidelity of more modern titles, it compensates with a distinctive visual style and attention to detail. The decaying Aperture Science labs are filled with environmental storytelling, from the peeling paint and collapsing walls to the malfunctioning robotic systems. The clean, sleek design of the test chambers contrasts beautifully with the chaotic, overgrown areas, giving players a sense of how long the facility has been in disrepair.
The sound design is equally impressive. The voice acting is top-tier, with Ellen McLain, Stephen Merchant, and J.K. Simmons delivering memorable performances. GLaDOS’s biting wit, Wheatley’s frantic bumbling, and Cave Johnson’s bombastic rants create a rich auditory experience that elevates the story. The ambient music is subtle, often enhancing the eerie, otherworldly feel of the game’s more suspenseful moments, while the soundtrack, composed by Mike Morasky, adds tension and drama at key points.
### **Replayability**
While the single-player campaign is a linear experience, its strong narrative and clever puzzle design offer significant replay value. Players can return to puzzles after a break to rediscover solutions or tackle the challenge of completing them faster. The cooperative mode also offers a lot of replayability, as playing with different partners can lead to varied approaches to solving puzzles.
Additionally, the Steam Workshop community has created countless custom maps and puzzles, meaning players can dive into user-generated content long after finishing the core game.
### **Final Thoughts**
*Portal 2* is a brilliant and memorable game that builds on the legacy of its predecessor in every possible way. The ingenious puzzles, tight storytelling, and witty dialogue make for an unforgettable experience. It excels in both single-player and co-op modes, delivering a challenging yet accessible game that appeals to both casual and hardcore players alike.
With its well-paced progression, innovative mechanics, and a perfect blend of humor and challenge, *Portal 2* remains a landmark in video game design and a must-play for fans of puzzle games. Even more than a decade after its release, it continues to be one of the best examples of how a game can combine intelligent design with deeply engaging gameplay.
**Rating: 9.5/10**
Spectacular. That is all I can say. It's obvious its a direct sequel to portal but it has SO MUCH more charm. Wheatley is an evil british guy who just kinda gets pissed off. The lore and storytelling is PEAK to say it came out in 2011 (my god this game is older than people i know) and it just works so well. The puzzles now however are mad, valve really just throws shit at you and you just work with it. However I am ashamed to admit that i looked up how to do 2 puzzles on youtube.....I....am a moron.
Literally finished the campaign and 4 months later I am redoing the whole story and getting all the achievements, this game is too good to be true!
game mixes puzzle solving with comedy and an interesting plot, making a fun gameplay. Plus maps & designs are awesome
the Portal games are simply the funniest puzzlegame I have ever played, and I have a long list of games by now on my resume :D Wheatley is my best friend :D
Amazing game. Definitely better than the original. A worthwhile play for genuinely anyone. I'd recommend playing the original first though.
Well, I liked this game the only issue i had is that i had to search some levels because I didn't wanted to say 5 hours for on level but that's just a skill issue however the game is 10/10 is just the best puzzle game and the hardest to.
one of the best games i have ever played. the only competition is portal one because of its simplicity but apart from that this is the best game i have played across all i have played on steam and all i have played on xbox.
A great sequal to the original Portal (do not need play first to understand everything)! Lots of interesting challenges, but overall basically the same chamber by chamber game... WAIT. WHATS HAPPENING? WHY DID THE LIGHT JUST... ##################### -SIGNAL LOST- Error 404: Review not found. #########################
the game is great but dont play co op with a random person play with a friend i got told i was brainless when i didnt get it he quit i also thought that valve doesnt let people use swears... i was wrong Ancient Elculous if your out there and your reading this be kind to people no matter if they dont get it like me.
lady robot voice is mean, co-op game, definitely tests the communication skills.
what i thought would be a fun game, didnt feel fun because my relationship was horrible at the time i played it.
i do highly recommend it. good luck. and if the partner sucks, you can still play single player!
This game is absolutely amazing . both Single player and co op is fun
really an amazing game if i'm being honest, graphics have aged like fine wine, and it doesn't matter if you played the first one, it's the same amount of dope in my opinion, worth every penny if you're looking for a escape room-esque video gam. Needless to say, for me, it was 14 bucks well spent
Hilarious dialogue. Deep lore. Difficult puzzle experience. These things make this game and it's prequel my favorite video games I've played. Only complaint is there's not a third game.
Best game I have ever played and still holds up TODAY?! Better than the first. Wheatley is a awesome guy (Except at the end I just loved throwing him into the endless vacuum of space XD)

Portal 2 has been a blast so far, though I’m still a ways off from finishing it. The solo mode is great, but the co-op was even more fun, especially playing with my smart friend who basically carried me through the puzzles! I really hope we can beat it together one day. I definitely recommend this game, but be ready for a mind-bending experience.
Peak writing, great puzzles and just super worth it. Give it a play, you won't regret it!
Plot: brilliant
Puzzle design: incredible
Humor and writing: top-notch
Mechanics: unique and innovative
I truly loved the plot and characters with their humor.
10/10 turrets, 3/3 gels, 10/10 glados potatoes idk (my overall rate - 10/10)
Massive improvement from the first game. Co-op is fun too, you can be confused with a friend and be dumb together.
Literally one of the best games of all time. It's witty, interesting, and a real head-scratcher at times! The mechanics are perfectly thought out and balanced to the extreme. If you haven't played either Portal game yet, you are truly missing out.
portal 1 and 2 are both super fun and unique puzzle games. super influential as well, you know how many games are basically carbon copies of this shi
I recommend you jump into the pit, you'll get:
- Parents (you aren't adopted after all)
- Escape elevator
- Designer jumpsuit (from France) and tailor
- Lovely handbag
- Triple portal device
- Yacht
- Boys (possibly even a girlfriend)
- Boy band (that haven't seen a woman in years) (not picky at all)
- Farm (pony farm)
Pretty fun co-op game or even a solo game; lots of puzzles to solve
very good game. better than portal 1. graphics are good even today.
This game is AMAZING. It does a great job following up to the original Portal and is certainly better. The main story line is a lot longer and gives you so much more levels to solve. On top of that, the amount of actual story itself in the game is amazing, especially for people like me who love lore. Lastly, the humor in this game is even better than the original, J. K. Simmons just knocks it out of the park. Amazing game, would highly recommend it to anyone wondering if they should get it.
i wish i could play it for the first time again. genuinely top 5 if not 3 game. it gets better every single time i play it and every single time i play it i want to keep playing forever. i could not give it higher praise if i wanted to. i love every single thing about this game. perfect masterpiece
there is one and only one rule: u gotta be smart, sadly that means only like 2% of steam users can play this. Otherwise, its a classic, cheap, good graphics, W game, co-op capability (if u have friends... yeah I am looking at u right now)
