Mr "Ayn Rand is stupid" himself comes out of left field with his hit 2013 game "What if direct action was actually just as bad as the oppressive structures themselves? Ever thought about that one?". Maybe it's my advanced age but this is the only game to ever give me motion sickness, which is shocking considering the less action-focused atmosphere of its predecessors. Pales in comparison to the games set in Rapture, but for some reason many people are infected with brain worms that make them think this is better than Bioshock 2. As if Comstock could ever be as hot as Sofia Lamb.
If you felt Bioshock was already dumbed down too considerably from System Shock 2, there's a solution: Playing Bioshock Infinite will make the original feel like a bastion of depth by comparison.
Absolutely incredible and stunning work of art. Each Bioshock game can be considered as such in their own right but the execution and scope of Infinite take the cake.
Bioshock Inifinte is a hugely philosophically exploratory piece of work that finds its narrative revolving around fascistic religious despotism and metaphysical science fiction. Booker DeWitt is tasked with finding a woman and returning her to his benefactors. The opening of the game sends him straight into the sky where he has to make his way through a multitude of neighborhoods in a cloud city to track this person down.
The storytelling here is hardly matched. One of the greatest games ever written. Gameplay is also fantastic with punchy and responsive guns and the vigor system which allows a lot of variation in how a player can approach different combat encounters.
It is a fairly linear game which could be a turn off to some but it's a beast of a thing once the ball gets rolling and maintains engagement through the rich and dense world, characters, and plot. It's a game I'd consider everyone should play at some point.
Has to be my all time favorite game that still holds up today, especially if you have an HDR capable monitor. Excellent graphics, gameplay and story line.
The worst Bioshock, but not a terrible game.
Feels more like a traditional shooter with clunky controls. Doesn't have the horror vibes or the attention to world building that Bioshock 1/2 had.
Burial at Sea part 2 was excellent, however.
Buy it on sale only.
I can't name another game from 2013 that looks and plays this well. Playing it on Xbox I was amazed, as well as PC. There's games coming out now (remasters/remakes too) that don't look half as good as Infinite. An excellent story, controls, and mechanics.
the game has great music and its so much fun to play on the go if you have a way to do that
Ignore my playtime. Don't know why it is so low when I beat the game and DLC. Steam bugging out. This is probably one of the best games I've ever played. While it doesn't really fell like a Bioshock game I think it is still a great experience. This is my favorite game in the franchise as a game. If you want to play something that feels more like classic Bioshock, play the first 2.
This game is a gem, with an awesome story and equal awesome mechanics, definetly recommended to any person who enjoys gaming and want a good tell about radicalization with steampunk elements.
Story is crazy, I love it. Gameplay is good. Recoil is so god damn annoying to handle.
It's a great game, very fun the whole series is great
Absolutely insane! It was like Farcry5, Borderlands, and Dishonored all into a Bioshock story that was a blast to play through. 10/10!
Nice Shooter Game with Very Good Storyline. Usually I dont play shooter games, but this one fascinated me from beginning to end, with graphics, storyline and so on. I highly recomment also for non-shooters
Playing on hard mode, it's easy to get used to a certain setup and just play that way for most of the game. (For me that was Sniper Rifle and Hand Cannon, with Murder of Crows as my main vigor with occasional use of Possession or Shock Jockey.) There were other vigors I should have used for the final battle. I made it much harder for myself than it needed to be
As expected, I already played Bioshock and Bioshock 2 (both the remastered versions)... Bioshock Infinite is definitely an improvement in pretty much all aspects. The most impressive aspect of it is the Elizabeth NPC character, that is truly the highlight of the gameplay.
And that's the thing I most liked about Bioshock Infinite, Elizabeth... Is not as "revolutionary" as Alyx Vance in Half-Life 2, but it's still a truly enjoyable character/"sidekick". After that, I would say the world design is gorgeous!
The thing I disliked the most... The plot!... I mean, It's interesting, but it was unnecessarily convoluted. The way is presented to the player is annoyingly obtuse and to be honest, I didn't really understood the "twist" until I saw a playthrough from Cynthetic (Youtuber). The plot is good and original, but the presentation/development was a miss.
One thing I really liked about this game compared to Bioshock 2 is the stability. Granted, I'm playing this game 2 or 3 years after I played Bioshock 2 (both in Linux), so game compatibility should have improved a ton, but still, not one single crash or bug, while in Bioshock 2 (remastered) I had about 50 game crashes during the entire playthrough.
Definitely recommended!

Liked the game particularly for the atmosphere (Columbia looked amazing at times, a joy to walk through the floating city; so while this may be an older game, the art style holds up very well). And while I think the writers had something with the story when they came up with it, it just feels like it fell a bit short for me. It had potential to be great, but I don't think it got there... and no, this has nothing to do with the story being quite convoluted, just that some parts of the story don't match well, in my eyes. Also, as a negative point, I couldn't help but feel that the relationship between the two main characters wasn't properly expanded upon (or that more could've been done, that progression should've been more meaningful etc).
That said, this is a great game and better than 90% of the modern crap we've gotten in recent years, hence, it is recommended.
this game blew mind a very complex story watched videos in yt to understand the timelines but man the gameplay the story the atmosphere is very detalied 10/10 game plz play this game it comes with collection in 350rs and you get skins and all dlcs and all games of bioshock series just play the game complete the dlcs and start biosshock 1 it will connect the stories
engaging story and missions , fun mechanics
From the story of rescuing a girl from fighting off a giant bird this game is the definition of beautiful a classic gem I grew up with if you haven't played Bioshock or don't understand what the stories are about this game doesn't have Big Daddy's or Little Sisters in it, it isn't you're typical Bioshock game but i suggest playing the burial at sea episodes if you want a little rapture action from returning to the under-water city.
Bioshock Infinite consegue fazer algo bem incrível.
Columbia é a representação so verdadeiro sonho americano.
My first BioShock game that I played circa 2015 on the PS3. Of the trilogy, it's got the best gameplay and visuals, and the story is amazing although I personally prefer the story of BioShock 1 the most. Still, this game is a masterpiece.
Thumbs up!
The shooting, weapons, and abilities in general felt great. The challenge of hardest difficulty had me finding solutions to combat issues I was experiencing which was a nice little puzzle.
The story was compelling!
At the time of writing this review, I had only played through the game once. That in mind, I managed to collect ~40% of the achievements which I received after using my favourite weapons/abilities most of the time and of course beating the game.
The rest of the achievements promote replay-ability through area exploration and heavy use of different weapons and abilities.
Overall, this was a great experience that I would recommend.
I like the game-play mechanics and the overall aesthetics of the game.
Holds up incredibly well even in 2024-2025. Great gun-play and enjoyable mechanics with the vigors.
Best game I played this year, and it didn't even came out this year! Exceptional FPS with beautiful visuals and atmosphere, with story being the icing on the cake.
Perfect game to end 2024
I first played this game when I was 11, I didn't really understand the game at all. But now replaying the game being much older, the game and endings left me truly astonished and mind blown, I have always loved the bio shock series and bio shock infinite lives up to that name, I love recommending this game to my friends.
Ahead of it's time. Still very good. Can't believe it's almost 12 years old.
peak. unlike any other bioshock game but still delivers a great story.
Great Game, amazing story and above average gun play. You can see why this is was one of 2013 bests game.
I'm genuinely ashamed that it took me 11 years to finally play this game. It is a masterpiece. God, I wish they still made them like this.
The OST and its storytelling is impressive. It actually made me wish there were alternate endings since it's quite sad it has to end that way.
Step 1: Finish Game.
Step 2: Stay speechless for a while.
Step 3: Find a wizard.
Step 4: Tell wizard to erase memory of game in head.
Step 5: Repeat Cycle.
It's one of those games that once you finish it, it's too hard to repeat. Too bad there are no wizards and I can't unsee this game. Crazy great plot and gameplay. 10/10 would do Elizabeth...er...the game again.
Great story! You wont even expect! No cliches! 10/10
I actually wasn't planning on writing a review, but jesus christ I just finished both this AND the DLC, and I have a lot to talk about so here goes. Going into this game, I didn't know what to expect. I was expecting Bioshock 1 to be good, it ended up being one of my favourite games of all time. I was expecting Bioshock 2 to be good, and while it didn't turn out nearly as good as the original, I still loved it overall, especially Minerva's Den. But with this game, I had no idea what to expect because this is such a divisive game among the fanbase. Some love it, some hate it. And where do I stand? Right in the middle.
Let's start with the gameplay, which is the aspect I have the least to talk about. I found it decent. The main issue with the game is it's incredibly easy gameplay, because while it can be fun at times, especially in large combat encounters, it can start to feel at times to be repetitive and stale, especially since there really isn't any noticible spike in difficulty, resulting in repetitive and boring gameplay. However, it wasn't nearly as bad as I'm making it sound like, and overall wasn't that bad. I got used to it after a while and found myself having fun with the gameplay, but it definitely overstayed its welcome for me and was not nearly as good as the original's or the second for that matter.
But what really made me want to talk about this and ESPECIALLY the DLC is without a doubt the most divisive aspect about this game: the story. The base game's story and Burial At Sea, to me at least, have one primary thing in common: they are very fun stories, and are easily enjoyable. But to say that they make sense would just be wrong. Let's start with the base game, spoilers ahead. Now, I will actually say I really dug the story for the most part at the beginning. Because it was simple. It was about a man trying to save a girl. Was it basic? Yes. Was it worse than the previous installments? Yes. But it was ultimately servicable. But then all hell breaks loose when the game completely shifts and we start hopping between universes. This is the moment when the game stops making sense. If we're hopping through different universes, is the comstock we see at the end the same comstock from the beginning? Why can't we just escape to a better universe instead of having to stay with Columbia? Surely there's a better universe, and one without Columbia? I just didn't really like the tone the game was taking, so you can imagine my reaction to the ending, which had me feeling extremely mixed. On the one hand, this ending was extremely cool. The way it all clicked in together with the plot and Booker's real identity was insane to witness, along with Elizabeth's change and drowning Comstock in anger. However, it also felt incredibly rushed, seeing this transformation just happen in the last 20 minutes just felt disorientating as all of this knowledge was thrown on top of me, making my brain collapse on itself. And then it ties into the original games. I didn't really mind it. That was another thing I was very confused about throughout the entire game, wondering why this was called Bioshock when it had nothing to do with the previous installments. Going into the different universes and revealing the different lighthouses... just talking about it now makes me confused, and makes my brain hurt. I just think that there was a way easier way of piling this information onto us. However, overall, I did like Bioshock Infinite. It was a nice game that probably wouldn't stick with me like Bioshock 1 has, but I enjoyed it, but can definitely agree this was the worse in the franchise. Burial At Sea hasn't swayed my opinion of this game, but it has muddied it, and left me feeling more lost, more confused, and yet more emotionally resonant with this game.
The gameplay of Burial At Sea is good, at least with episode 2, mainly because I love stealth in games, and I really dug the gameplay of episode 2. Nothing much to say about episode 1 overall, since both the story and gameplay were quite basic and not much to really ride home about, however I must say that seeing Rapture not only in this perfect setting before the war and seeing the beauty of it combined with the Bioshock Infinite graphics was just breath taking, and really transported me into this time. But of course, I have to talk about the story, because while for the majority of the first episode I was left feeling unfulfilled with the story, the ending shocked me, as I honestly didn't expect Booker to be killed by Elizabeth at the end. It honestly made sense too, tying in with the base game's ending and finally explaining why Elizabeth was down here. But what really was crazy was the second episode. I loved how after an entire game and a DLC, we can FINALLY play as Elizabeth, and while I was disappointed we weren't able to utilise her powers with the tears, it made up with the fact that we finally had a more unique gameplay style now, having to focus more on stealth and strategy rather than just brute forcing every situation like before.
Episode 2's story however left me in shock, and I'm not sure if it was in a good way or a bad way, but it left an impression on me that much can be said. Having Atlas and Ryan show up throughout the game as guides really did connect this all back to Bioshock 1, and made me rekindle my love that I had for that game. In a way, this DLC strengthened it, and showed me what I loved about the first game, that being the intricate gameplay, and the twists and turns of the story. While neither was as good as in this DLC, with the gameplay being worse and the twists and turns also being handled worse, it was still an enjoyable time. And having it all connect back with Jack, having to get the activation phrase to save Sally, and the insane reveal that Elizabeth was the one that hijacked the plane, it was just satisfying. In a way, this episode reminded me a lot of Evangelion, specifically the final movie in the series: 3.0 + 1.0: Thrice Upon A Time. That movie did what this episode did: wrapped up an incredible story with a finale that most of the time didn't make sense in the slightest, and yet ended up being incredibly emotional as a final farewell.
Overall, this game and especially Burial At Sea aren't perfect, nor can I say that they're masterpieces. They're convoluted, canon shattering messes, and yet they have something that most games nowadays don't have anymore: passion. This game was made with love, and while it didn't turn out nearly the way I expected, this was still an incredibly heartfelt, even beautiful conclusion to one of my favourite franchises in gaming history. I know that one day Bioshock 4 will come out, and I have no doubt in my mind that it will at least be good, but I don't know if we need it. If you asked me about Bioshock 4 after the first two games, I would've said absolutely, but now, even though I can't say that Burial At Sea was a perfect conclusion in the slightest, it was such a beautiful sendoff that it will be hard to replicate that.
To one of the greatest trilogies of all time, and to the one of the most beautiful journeys I have ever had in a story. Thank you, for rekindling my love for video games. Farewell Bioshock.
Fabulous RPG game still even if has been published for more than ten years. I played this game multiple times around these years, and finally passed the 1999 hardcore mode this time.
Rich story and great plotabout the trials of redemption in the multi-universe setting (we only play one trial in the game, which is actually one of the many). Nice gameplay. Combining standard shooting with multiple weapons and magics leads to various battling strategies. Also, compared to BioShock 1, Elizabeth is a great companion throughout the game, reducing loneliness during the play. Though I like the type of character who doesn't speak, such as Gordon Freeman in the HL series and Morgan Yu in Prey (2017), the conversation between Booker DeWitt and Elizabeth from time to time still makes me enjoy the game a lot. At least Elizabeth is a lively portal master rather than simply a companion cube as in Portal.
I think the only regrets are two. Story-wise, I feel the storyline pushes too fast. Some parts of the story, like the Vox revolt, can be longer so that the Vox allies won't become the enemy too soon. Gameplay-wise, the sky-line system is a fancy idea, but it is more like an auxiliary thing during battling. Of course, we can choose to fight on the sky-line, but it does not come with many interesting strategies.
Truly a beauty. I keep replaying the start of this game just to sit in the beautiful cities.
Engaging gameplay, more engaging story, great negative and positive characters, overall it's worth every penny you pay. 10/10
Ahead of its time! Enjoyable and amazing.
I would recommend playing the entire franchise, starting from the oldest.
If artistic graphics along with an impressive story are important to you, buy this game
is fun to slaughter civilians on easy mode
After playing this I definitely understand why this is the fan favourite out of the 3 games and it deserves that rank. basically the culmination of all the stories from the first two with its own story to finally end the series. i absolutely loved how they added a partner this time around as it felt more immersive with them interacting with each other and the world around them.
it is highly recommended to buy the Burial at Sea DLC's as i'm pretty sure their canon and a great epilogue. A smaller advice I would recommend is to watch some sort of recap video of the first two games if it's been a long while since you played them.
[A+] An absolute masterpiece. Incredible lore and designs. I want a 4th game.
best graphics for low specs pc
Love, loss, redemption... the eternal themes, the threads that bind us all. In the end, it is these that give our lives meaning, that give us hope in the face of despair. Whether in a floating city or in the depths of the human heart, these are the stories that matter, the stories that endure.
Gameplay feels like HL:2, about the best compliment I could give it.
(Played on Xbox) This is easily my favorite game of all time it was my first Bioshock game and helped introduce me into the series. Elizabeth is easily the best written and coded side character of the 2010s (yes even better than Ellie) and the story will leave you speechless in the end. 10/10
The combat is mostly positive with some negative features but Bioshock Infinite's drive to make you play the game is through the story.
What an amazing and ROLLER COASTER of a touchy story this was. I enjoyed the gameplay but maaaan the story... This will be an explanation of the story more than a review.
---------------SPOILERS---------------------
The Key Twist: Booker and Comstock Are the Same Person
Booker DeWitt and Zachary Comstock are alternate versions of the same man, but their paths diverge due to a single pivotal decision.
The Baptism Choice:
After committing atrocities at the Battle of Wounded Knee, Booker is riddled with guilt. He is given a chance to be baptized and "wash away his sins."
In one timeline, Booker rejects the baptism, remaining himself and eventually fathering Anna (Elizabeth).
In another timeline, he accepts the baptism, reinventing himself as Zachary Comstock, a religious zealot who goes on to found Columbia.
Why Are They So Different?
Comstock's decision to embrace the baptism changes his personality and drives him to seek redemption by building a floating city (Columbia) and positioning himself as a prophet.
However, using technology like the Lutece machine exposes him to radiation, leaving him sterile. Unable to have a child, he seeks an heir through a desperate act: abducting Anna from another reality (Booker's timeline).
The Anna/Elizabeth Connection:
Comstock uses the Lutece twins to create a "tear" between dimensions. He takes Anna from Booker, who had sold her to wipe away his gambling debts, and renames her Elizabeth.
During the abduction, the tear closes on Anna's finger, cutting it off and symbolizing her dual existence in both realities.
Booker's Journey:
Throughout the game, Booker attempts to rescue Elizabeth, not realizing that her abduction ties directly back to his own alternate self, Comstock.
As events unfold, Booker and Elizabeth discover the multiverse, realizing that Columbia and its events are echoes of endless possibilities.
The Ending: Destroying the Cycle
To break the cycle of infinite realities where Comstock always rises to power:
Elizabeth's Plan:
Elizabeth takes Booker to the moment of his baptism.
She explains that to stop Comstock from ever existing, Booker must die before he can make the choice to accept the baptism.
The Drowning:
The Bookers who would become Comstock are drowned in the baptismal waters, effectively erasing Comstock and Columbia from existence.
The Aftermath
The ending suggests the multiverse collapses into a version where Comstock and Columbia never existed.
However, a post-credits scene shows Booker waking up in his office, hearing Anna in the next room. This implies there’s a reality where Booker kept Anna and avoided becoming Comstock, breaking the cycle.
Why Is It Confusing?
The story hinges on the idea of constants and variables—there are fixed points (like the baptism) that always occur, but choices lead to branching realities. The cycle of Booker/Comstock and Elizabeth can only end through self-sacrifice at a fixed point in time.
I love the "steampunk" art style in this. Everything is sort of whimsical. As much as i enjoy the weapons and the gun play I almost wish this were an entirely different type of game. There is more charm in the story and characters than it has any right to have. Dialogue isn't too long winded and the pacing of action and cinematic is well done. I find that the UI isn't overly complicated and anytime I'm confused navigationally there's a button to show me what direction I need to go which is something I think most games need to have.
Whoever makes the decision to make "challenge" DLCs AND INCLUDE THEIR ACHIEVEMENTS in the full game needs to rethink their own existence.
Less suspenseful and (debateably) atmospheric than the first two, but still just as captivating and possibly more fun to play and replay, the DLCs (except the CiTC) are far from being an afterthought; fun duo dynamic - worth playing for sure!
Also, first paragraph once again ^
Easily the best in the series and a really good game even if you have never played any of the other Bioshock games. Highly recommend for those who like FPS games and can appreciate a good story.
