Call of Duty®: Modern Warfare® 2 (2009)

This game is way better compared to the micro-transaction version of it, Singleplayer story is really fun, It took me 6 hours to complete it.

Yea i get it multiplayer has a RCE vuln (You can use a custom COD client to patch it but activision will probably make a lawsuit ) but i regularly just play on the singleplayer mode

Hopefully Activision fixes the steam version's multiplayer RCE!

Overall, it's quite worth the price and you should give it a try!

Call of duty Modern Warfare 2 is a fantastic game, One of the best call of duty games ever made. The story is gripping and has the player invested from start to finish. Special Ops mode is still one of the best modes in call of duty other than zombies. The game also works great on steam deck with keyboard and mouse in docked mode, was able to beat through the whole campaign with no issues whatsoever. Defiantly pick this game up on a sale, for some reason Activision still charges full prices for these older cod titles which makes no sense considering how old these games are.

I think this is the best installment in the original trilogy. The soundtrack is amazing and the missions are very varied and entertaining.

This is THE first person shooter game.
Yeah, I might be biased with nostalgia, but both then and now, this is the impeccable campaign that never fails to scratch the itch whenever I need to relax playing this type of game. So far, nothing has surpassed it.

This game is classic, but I think the modern war is worth the fare too (2009).

Recently bought this game and completed the campaign fairly quickly. Ain't too bad, frankly.
Nothing much else to put here, other than- SOAP, DODGE THAT HELICOPTER!

The Call of Duty formula works for Modern Warfare 2, a solidly crafted FPS from Infinity Ward with few real faults.

Biggest positives:
++ Pulls out all the cinematic stops to create a white-knuckle campaign experience: big explosions, tense stealth segments, high-speed chases
+ Fast-paced multiplayer games

Other notes:
~ Infamous segment of the game features obscene violence

This was the big deal for FPS shooters, and still rocks to this day. This single game if far better than all of the new COD MW reboots. It's perfect.

Short, sweet and simple. That's the best way to describe the original Modern Warfare 2. While the story is campy and over-the-top, it never comes off as unintentionally so and still has plenty of memorable dramatic moments, even if they're similarly exaggerated in their scale and tone. The spec-ops missions is where the game truly shines and sets itself apart, though. Compared to the main story missions, they are less cinematic and more well made from a gameplay perspective, providing various types of mission scenarios that provide a satisfying challenge, especially on higher difficulties where more tact and carefulness is required. The spec-ops leveled are well structured and fairly balanced, with a good progression system via the 1-3 stars earned by completing missions being used to unlock more missions. With a large number of spec-ops available in the game, it can more than double the total playtime and contributes a lot to the replayability of the game as a whole.

Overall, an 8.5/10. Not a perfect shooter, but for the kind that it is, it's hard to do better in terms of content and enjoyment.

Best COD without a doubt. The game still holds up with 1 crash for me related to a bad internet connection, and with THE BEST story in all of COD. Multiplayer servers are still up as of March 2025 15 years after release. some hackers in multiplayer but not many who use in game cheats mostly to change color of name or get spinning emblem/max level.

I love this game, the warm feeling of nostalgia brings me back to my childhood, my teammates are kind and sociable online, and the storyline is addictive and interesting.

Multiplayer is dangerous, but campaign is fun.

The multiplayer is unsafe, you need to install an unoffical software to play "safely". Activision is lazy and wont do anything about it, steam has also ignored this issue for many years, even though it violates steams TOS and probably laws of many nations. Do not buy.

It was a waste of money unfortunately, i did not realize I wouldn’t be able to use the controller on this game so it’s unplayable for me I hope anyone who wants to play this game sees this review and doesn’t waste money like I did. It’s 2025 how do we not have controller support for a fps game?!?!?

One of the best games In the whole franchise and Is arguably the most iconic cod game to be made. The campaign a lot has so many iconic and fun parts from any other cod game. Guns are great, great characters, and two great villans. mulitplayer has some most funniest moments in gaming history with trash talking lobbies and LOTS of op weapons. I can't really explain how great and fun this game truly mainly bc it's already been done plenty of times before. Just a fantastic game.

It's an older game but it is a ton of fun, especially the solo Ops. Grab a copy. You'll be glad you did!

This, in my opinion, is the best call of duty single player campaign, and it is quite fun to play even in 2025.

Nice story, not hard to run on a laptop, graphics are alright for the time.

SO I'm sorry to have to say it but. don't buy this play there are only hackers there. is not funny. I remember playing the game was fun, my personal Best COD game. and remember multiplayer was one of the best things about playing.

I bought this game hoping I could get some nostalgia playing campaign but i ended up with frustration and not being able to play at all. Every time I tried to launch the game I would either get a black screen or an error and I tried every single thing to try and fix it. I would always recommend playing this game 110% of the time. But, I would not recommend this game on PC. If you would want the game I would recommend playing it on an old console like it was intended to be played on.

Completed the campaign for the first time since 2010. If you want to replay the campaign or play it for the first time, this is a good option. It's hands down the best COD game of all time.

Yikes, trying to avoid every offensive word so this doesn't get filtered out on ANYTHING. Playing multiplayer instantly compromised my entire computer. The game files were corrupted, my %appdata% folder was ACCESSED, and they messed w/ chrome.exe too. DO NOT TOUCH THIS.

The first one in the franchise which was controversial, discussed in the media in the negative light, but still enormously succesful. The first one in the franchise which brought nicely done and fun Special Ops missions for 2 players and very chaotic multiplayer, which is absolutely not for everyone - for very good reasons.

best game I've ever played in a while. Still in 2025 (without multiplayer cheaters) is the best game I came back to. Redoing all the achievements is fun to do. I like coming back to this. And if you want to play multiplayer, play with friends so you don't get doxxed

This game has recruited more people into the US Armed Forces than Fed E-Girls posting tiktoks, and that is saying something. A floozy won't get countless men to leave family, lover and home to fight in some sandbox, but Captain Price, Soap MacTavish and Ghost sure as hell will. This once in a lifetime classic is so good, it will make you want to invent a time machine to go back and experience on release date over and over. You will never forget the missions, never forget the maps, never forget the fun. And to all those who made the decision to serve, God bless you and your families.

Just peak COD campaign gaming I can't lie, so many stories out there but nothing beats the OG MW series. Top tier COD game for those who wants to try it. Spent a lot of time and I mean A LOT of time finishing Spec Ops on Veteran, finished campaign on Veteran but couldn't finish it becoz I don't have a partner to finish the Spec Ops but still 10/10 game. Still holds up and better than most COD games right now.

i never really liked shooter games like these in the past, but this one? this one i really like.
i like the story telling, the characters are interesting to me, i like feeling like i'm part of something, and it's a nice way to get some anger out by just shooting at hostiles.

also ghost and soap are nice to look at, even in the older graphics

This game is so nostalgic and awesome, the multiplayer is tons of fun and the campaign is just really good. It's great for low power PCs too

this is the best game i have ever played - don't get me wrong, the graphics are a little dated but get ten minutes into the storyline and that you don't even notice. the storyline is amazing, the missions are so much fun and i bought this game one day ago, and by day 2 i already had four hours on. worth the money, amazing game, amazing characters, overall just a fantastic game if you like FPS and mission based games! SO GOOD!!!

Great game, chose it because the game is good and it works well with linux proton for compat.

Aside from a few difficulty spikes in the campaign, this is a worthy sequel to the original masterpiece. And while Spec Ops was fun for a bit, some of the challenges it offered were more frustrating than fun, but still worth checking out if you got a knack for that type of thing.

Phenomenal and timeless game, especially with mods. Even though its a pro patriarchy god bless murica one I think WW2 is the best out of them all in the franchise.

Worth it for the four missions where you fight through Washington D.C. freeing it, to include the White House, from Russian invaders.
Also a bunch of missions where you go around the world engaging in some B-tier Tom Clancy plot as special forces or something. That's not why I'm here but they're pretty standard CoD campaign missions and, while pretty cheesy, aren't exactly bad.

Played this game since my childhood, really enjoyed the multiplayer for 1v1 splitscreen matches and had some fun on online TDM, I enjoy a good list of weapons in the game and I also enjoy the special ops mode as well, had a lot of fun playing that as a kid too with a mate. Pretty sad that most the time you can't really get a normal lobby for online like you use to years ago, but still the game is great with private lobbies and local sessions. Highly should get if you have a good friend group on PC and would recommend for xbox 360 if you have a group of friends for that console

The nostalgia that comes with this campaign alone is incredible, The characters being the exact same as they were back in 2009 is an amazing trip down memory lane - The soundtrack is just as good as it was back in the day - The Special Ops is untouchable and is equally as enjoyable and challenging as it was when trying it for the first time. One warning, be prepared to here the name Ramirez 523468945721893 times.

good game i 100%ed it on verteran and it was a good game back in the day and a good game to this day. they dialed back the grenade spam on veteran that was in the old games which is great, nothing negative to say.
