Blood Money is a 290,000-word interactive novel by Harris Powell-Smith. It's entirely text-based, without graphics or sound effects, and fueled by the vast, unstoppable power of your imagination.
When your cousin murders the city's most notorious crime boss--your mother--a power struggle erupts across the criminal underworld. As your sisters Octavia and Fuschia vie for control, you alone in the family possess the blood magician's power to summon and command ghosts. They hunger for your blood; if it's blood they want, then blood they'll have.
Will you take over the family business? Remain loyal, go it alone, or defect to a rival gang?
- Play as male, female, or non-binary; gay, straight, bi, or ace.
- Embrace your unearthly gifts and build connections with the dead, or banish ghosts to the underworld to protect the living
- Look for love, or manipulate your friends and allies; Betray those who trust you, or maintain family loyalty no matter the cost
- Fight a gang war for your family, defect to your rivals, or reject a life of crime
- Negotiate volatile family relations: resolve squabbles, fall in line as a loyal lieutenant, or sharpen your knife for backstabbing
- Influence citywide politics: exploit the Mayor’s office for your own ends, or use your connections for a greater cause
What will you sacrifice for freedom, and who will you sacrifice for power?

Either you are interested in things about gangster or medium, this game is definitely worth a try. It's storytelling is so good that it feels like I watched a good movie .
I've played a lot of Interactive Novels. Some were good, some bad. This is one of the best.
The general plot is interesting, well fleshed out, and as believable as any story about ghosts and mobsters could ever hope to be. The writing is beautiful, evocative and heartfelt, with characters that you genuinely grow to care about, and choices that genuinely matter to the plot. There are some - a very small number - minor editing issues, but certainly not enough to ruin the immersive experience, and you soon forget them as the story continues.
I genuinely look forward to seeing more works from this author.
Very well written I really enjoyed the game!
This is a fairly short story I’ve read twice, and on the whole, I liked it both times. It’s not the most exciting tale, perhaps, but neither is it boring. While not always impactful, many of the choices influence the story enough to make each playthrough fun. (6/10)
I've enjoyed playing this, the writting was good and the overall plot and characters were interesting enough. Worth checking out.

I can't force myself to play this game any longer... sometimes things are better left unfinished.
Well, am I sorry I got this one. This one one BORING story. I could not relate to the protagonist at all; their motivations seemed to be already pre-determined regardless of my choices, characters were either boring, forgettable or both, and I kept losing track of who was who all the time.
The writing itself isn't bad; but that just has to be one of the worst ways to write about organized crime.
I honestly really tried to get into this story, but it just didn't happen. The story is kind of all over the place. The choices seem nearly random, and even the choices that seem like the guaranteed right move, never seem to pan out. By chapter 5, I just couldn't pay attention anymore. 3/10
Wonderful variety in character creation! An engaging storyline and interesting cast of characters.
In a city reminiscent of Venice, your mother (leader of your mafia family) has passed. ...Are you sad or secretly relieved? Did you resent her, play along with her plans or make some of your own?
Blood Money does something I wish more games did – it asks you what you want to do, but also why you do it, and how you feel about it. Every decision made me stop and think for a bit longer than I would have, to make sure I was choosing things on purpose rather than clicking on an option. If you’re interested in someone, do you want to flirt, be romantic, or just keep things friendly for the time being? Are you helping someone because you genuinely want to, or because it’s a smart move? You get to decide how your character feels, and that’s reflected in your stats, crafting your character as you go along.
This is the first review I'm writing for any game which should give you a good idea of how invested I am in it. I've been playing Choice of Games since Choice of Dragons and have played a pretty wide diversity of finished products and WIPs on the forums. I've played games with more unique mechanics and occasionally clearer mechanics (I'm still unsure how the ghost levels play into this game), but I've never played a game where I became so invested in my character. I usually play very different characters in every playthrough to get different text, but I've gone through the game five times now with the same character exploring different pathways. The ability to roleplay and connect to the story was amazing in this game. The other characters are interesting and represent diverse viewpoints and multiple ways to connect. The romances were fun, though not on the same level as other games, but where this game really shown was your relationship with the family. How I related to my sisters and how I fit into the Delgado family is a thrilling part of this story and one of the best ways I've seen in a CYOA game of grounding the MC in the world. I can't wait to play again.
The game is very fun! I loved everything about the story and how it was written. There were a lot of moments in the story where I wanted to beat the living crap out of a character that annoyed me. I know I have only have a small amount of hours, but honestly its worth playing over and over again and see what different outcomes you can get and how your story changes.
A decent game to enjoy if you are looking for something concise and with decent sovreignty in choice. Though it is not a great acheivement in these interactive novels, it is still a good time and mildly engrossing. The writing is concise and simple, though with no errors that I encountered, save for the strange quirk with most people in the game female with no discernable reason. The story does have some decent branching to it and I only encountered one contradictory choice when it gave me the option to hang with a character that was imprisioned. The blood magery is somewhat forced to importance and, personally, I found the crime-family aspect much more interesting and investing. The characters are decent and the romances flexable, though not very fleshed out. Overall? Good. It is something to enjoy so I feel it is worth a shot if you enjoy the premise.
Descriptions of Venice are pretty much the last thing you want to hear - when the story is One Hundred Years of Solitude the Godfather edition send ghosts instead of horses heads. The setup is initially quite charming - you are playing Michael the blood magic sorcerer to your dead Micheal Corleone - or should we say Jose Buendia. Anyways reverse it to your mom and sisters - this novel would literally write itself. And yet, despite it's strong initial burst - it gets lagged down by pointless police officers, the sense that this is a small town, random constantine possession lifting, gondolas, a ghostbusters plughole... Seriously, I ask for so little. I liked this text novel because I could hallucinate - and it's worth a go for that - but it needs work.
7/10 for me. It has a VN type of feel to it. I found it very interesting that the trailer said you make sacrifices but honestly it feels like you just take sides. Only a few people die and one of them is your mother . Lots of details on family relationships and some options made a difference, others non at all. Some options seem to have the same results. I'll only recommend this game if its on sale and you have time to kill. It doesn't have that romance or character development I enjoy.
While this was a decent effort, I believe it pulled you along too fast. Then Chapter 10, at least for me was like wait what how did that come about. And the Ending (Chapter 11) feels like it was just thrown on.
I would recommend getting this game and enjoying it for what it is. A story about a character who is kicked into the background but is the primary mover of the game even tho, the other characters don't realise it.
This choice of game was well designed and felt like a hybrid role playing game to me. There was lots of oportunity for character customization and lots of different paths possible and many well placed decision points. The tone and style worked well as did the plot and idea: you play as a blood magician, a sort of psychic ghost handler, for a mafia family during a time of trouble for the family and do lots of mafia style stuff. Overall I really enjoyed this one.
Blood Money is a fun enough entry by Choice of Games where one's choices actually seem to affect the plot to a significant degree. While the adverts seem to make a rather big deal out of murder, that is but a small part of the game; for the most part, one deals with ghosts, political tension, and sibling rivalry. As a whole, the game is enjoyable; though the romance options did not have any particular depth, and there is certainly the occasional typographical error. I certainly recommend buying it, if there is a sale.
