AceSpeeder3

It's a very simple game with an odd aesthetic. That odd aesthetic and the music really grew on me, and I find it very hypnotic and relaxing. It's one of a group of simple racing games I like to put on when needing just to relax.

An under rated gem! This game is a work of art! the closest thing to fzero on the n64 you will find on pc. so many other games tried but this game nails the music and driving, it beautiful and epic! Just wish there was a sequel with more bright colours and more of that music! the music is awesome! i want the soundtrack, where can i buy it! Love to the developer!!! your a true artist!

OverDrive 2 when?

When I was young I played AceSpeeder!, which was the previous game and by now almost 20 years old. This game was more or less the follow up and from what I can tell its sadly worse then the first one.
The series in its entire shape and form is a very low budget project, but this game sadly takes away all the charm from its previous title. The graphics are depressing and the controls are a lot more clunky.

The main issue tho is the track design itself. While the last game had tracks which are around 30 seconds long, the tracks here are way longer stretched out to around 50-60 seconds. Because your ship automatically accelerates you cannot stop, there for all curves cannot be sharp. The tracks in general feel not as creative, repetitive and forgettable.

A fun-enough little racer that hits all the marks, scratches the itch and races a LOT better than some of those supposed A-list racers which can't steer or handle for ****... lol Nice variety in some of the hurdles or perks. Best of all in this game is whatever song that plays in the 3rd race of every series...there are times when I'll just go to the third race if I can...just to drive and hear that song! lol Call it a 'happy place' if you like.

This is a very good and cheap game for what it is. A very solid F-Zero-like racing game. The way the machines handle and feel, the track designs and themes, the great soundtrack, it all blends well.

However, you should only buy it if you want to support the developer. AceSpeeder3 is the mobile port of AceSpeeder2, which is freeware (it was a paid game long time ago) and is available for download on the developer's website (www . raingraph . com, remove spaces, I don't know why Steam blocks the link) along with the Origin track pack. AceSpeeder2 is the superior version of the game: it runs at 60 FPS instead of being locked to 30, has a unique HUD, you can brake and boost manually, there are different camera views and even replays. The only downside is that the intro when you start the game and the unskippable credits sequence each time you complete a stage cause delays, but with a little patience it is not a problem.

I don't know why the developer or the publisher decided to sell this inferior version on Steam, it looks like a game quickly made in Unity by an amateur and that's not true (the original seems to run on a custom engine). I don't assume they had malicious intentions, because AceSpeeder3 was supposed to be a proper sequel with 3 planets (one being the AceSpeeder2 tracks) with more gameplay modes. There is also a track editor you can buy from the developer's website, but it is barebones and requires you to make the tracks by editing a text file (although an unfinished GUI tool is available to help with the process).

There are different "Density" modes within the "Racing" mode that the game doesn't tell you about until you unlock them by clearing all stages. You start on "Density 20" which means there are 20 machines on the track and you can unlock "Density 30", "Density 40" and "Density 50". They are the same stages all over again but with more machines on the track, with the increased machine count making little difference in gameplay. There are also the "Time Trial" and "Keep Shield" modes.

These extra modes feel more like filler than meaningful additions and don't make up for AceSpeeder3's downsides compared to the original version of the game. As such, while AceSpeeder2 only has "Racing' (championship) and "Challenge" (single race) with 30 machines on the track at all times, it still comes out on top.

Just go with the original.

I used to play AceSpeeder 1 when I was a kid ALL THE TIME. It's one of my favorites games. To see the title on Steam and how it evolved is really pleasing. It's a simple futuristic racing game with a charm to it. The feeling of speed and the theme of the stages are awesome and it has a nice soundtrack. I only wish there was more to it, more features, options, online, etc.

decent f-zero clone in unity. no joypad support for menus but you can use it in gameplay. there's no gas, apperantly just automatically gases for you so all you have to do is hit the boost pads and jump pads. gotta get first to unlock other tracks. looks like a decent amount of cars and tracks to unlock. overall, not bad but you can tell it was made by an amateur. I'll probably play more of it. alright for 3 bucks. its also a unity game but what do you expect?

sad this dev didn't sell more copies tbh. but what do you expect with games flooding steam daily?
