Reminds me of shadow of mordor type of combat, just slightly different to fit the narrative. It feels good there is a good progression where u feel stronger with lvling up ur skills and ur items. But it gets repetitive real fast. It becomes a choir to lvl up further skills and gear. But enjoyed it nevertheless. Try it out see for yourself if you enjoy this kind of RPG or not
I kept hearing how great this game was. Tried several times to get into it- I just thought it was bland and boring. After a few attempts- it was just too boring.
one of the greatest games ever made. a 1 man army in a long dessert, conquering it and being the best. seeking revenge like a blood thirsty killer
i miss playing this as a kid, during them chill summer nights
Although I haven't played through the entire game, I'm loving the systems, the ease of upgrading the character, finding loot, running into enemies, all of the driving (including the races), the ability to easily fast travel if desired, the survival elements, the general story, and the entire environment. This game does all of the action RPG elements correctly and isn't a grind, but just straight up fun.
2025 Review:
This game is a severely underrated. It's been sitting in my library for a more than 7 years now and I finally got around to playing it and ended up doing a 100% run.
It does not try to innovate needlessly; everything you see and do, you've probably seen and done in other games, but it combines these things so nicely. Think Arkham's crisp hand to hand combat, Just Cause's satisfying explosions, brilliant vehicular combat, and a really unique open world all put together neatly.
The gameplay loop is fairly repetitive. 25% into the game you've already done most of what you'll continue to do for the rest of the game. But somehow, it manages to stay fun all the way to the end. To the point where it's left me wanting MORE of the same even after I spent 80 hours in two weeks 100%-ing it.
The pacing is actually pretty decent. You don't feel like you need to rush to the next mission (until the final Act 04, where things ramp up). This leaves you with a lot of time to explore the map, takeover enemy camps, go collectable hunting, blow shit up and just generally have a good time. I love it, it has carved out a nice little corner close to my heart.
And lastly, the graphics and effects hold up very well and have aged like fine wine. Seriously, it still has some of the best explosions I have seen in a video game.
Very well deserved 8.5/10
Go play it.
The game is fun in it's own right
But I am going to drop the game. It suffers a lot from repetition, clunky controls and mechanics and the ubisoft stereotype of putting a lot of useless collection/fetch areas and towers to "uncover points of interest". The story is there but it's a lot of go to y, ask for help, y says go fetch this then I help type quests over and over.
This is such Under-Rated game! Must Play. Such Such a great Game.
This reminds me so much of the Days Gone game. Cars are better tho
Giant wasteland, a little bit too much id say. Jewbisoft style map, checkpoints, collectibles every 50m.
Not many firearms which i like, alot of fist fights. Button mashing fights but entertaining. Car chases, spikes, hook gun, bazooka. At first the controls of the car are cluncky but when you upgrade your car it gets better. Alot of stuff to do. The story i dont follow or care honestly, but chumbucket is cool. 7/10
Great story, beautiful environment for being 10 years old now. Gameply is fun, kinda brings a farcry vibe but with more Arkham Batman games combat. Really made me think of what the world can become with global warming and all. For it's time 10/10
Mad Max is a one-of-a-kind game. While it draws inspiration from the movie, it wisely creates its own story, which I thought was a great choice. The main highlight is its melee combat system, featuring serious punching, timely parrying, and counter-attacking. The game revolves around building the ultimate car, "The Magnum Opus," from scraps to compete in death races for big prizes. You're accompanied by Chumbucket, an excellent mechanic but a cowardly and self-loathing hunchback who mends your car on demand. The game offers enough customization for both your gear and the car to keep you engaged.
The world of Mad Max is a barren, sand-covered wasteland, frequently hit by storms and gusty winds. Despite its lifeless appearance, constantly roaming bandits and enemies provide consistent combat, even following set routes for transport. The map is divided into territories controlled by various "big names," and your objective is to clear bandit threats from these areas, which benefits you in several ways. There are also quite a few side missions that unlock exclusive content. I managed to clear the very first territory completely, making it 100% bandit-free. You can also upgrade the bases in these territories, providing refilled ammo, water, and more upon each visit.
Scrap plays a huge role and collecting it is a significant grind. The game features hundreds of scrap collections and base-clearing activities, which can keep you engaged. However, doing the same thing repeatedly just for scrap or to lower the threat level becomes monotonous and cumbersome. I found the most efficient approach was to fully upgrade one base and fast travel to it for refills, then fast travel to my next destination, rather than clearing every single base and activity. While I enjoy grinding, this game demands an almost endless amount of it, which wasn't for me.
The story is pretty interesting, and the missions play out nicely, giving them a sense of meaning. The graphics are good; not the best, but they definitely capture the wasteland vibe, suiting the game perfectly. Overall, Mad Max is definitely a game to play. I'd recommend it to anyone looking for good melee combat and death races, though I can't say much for the grind, as it's not for everyone.
A bit repetitive, but overall a solid game. story is good, characters are good, voice acting is great(especially Chumbucket) and its just fun to build a dope car for the apocalypse! For a game that came out a decade ago, I'm satisfied.
I have gone through the story 2x and still play on occasion just to fool around and collect more hidden stuff. Hoping to 100% it one day. Worth at least 1 full play through.
This is a very good game, it is a lot of fun to play. Maybe the story is not that good(I liked it tho) BUT the gameplay, is epic. You go in a desert and beat the crap out of drugged men
The car battles and races are fun, the Mad Max feeling is definitely there, the combat is simple but works and there is a lot of missions and upgrades to keep you busy for a while.
Absolutely worth a try!
To bad this gem didn't get enough sales for Warner Bro's.
I could only imagine a co-op feature and DLC's with a bigger world.
Game is a solid 11/10 for me.
But I'm a Mad Max nerd
(original movies, not the new garbage which is ironic since this game was made for the new).
Love this game! I am a fan of the Mad Max Universe. The game although not perfect but it is very well done. I didn't finish the game but came back to play again many years later. I can't stop playing again, super addicting. It's an old game but at 2025 still holding up replay ability. For the price highly recommend to add the game to the collection, or wait for sale. :)
Good story, nice lore and an overall fun experience. Use controller to maximize the fun
I have played this game many times now.. Its a hidden gem for people who love exploring in the open world... Highly recommend... you must try it once and you will be hooked for hours...
really good game ahead of its time runs smooth like butty and the gameplay is so amazing from the driving the story and the combat. I also love that you can customize your car widely.
This is one of the best games in the world ruined by the absolute worst driving mechanics in the world. I loved everything about this game except the pure garbage driving mechanics.
10/10 Amazing game. The car combat is the real hero here as the foot combat is just bat-fu. Grinding and harpooning while hitting the nitro is so satisfying. Next is the atmosphere. There is attention to details that make places feel alive. I haven't looked at a skyline that way since skyrim. Add to that each base is unique, not procedural. Hell, I'd wager even the random loot spots are all handmade. It makes a huge difference. If you liked The Road Warrior, you should just buy this right now.
Mad Max is an incredibly underrated game and absolutely deserves your time whether your a fan of the source material or not. Fun game play within an interesting world. Highly recommend.
Mad Max is an underrated open world gem forgotten by time and WB. If you just so happen to be reading this when the game is on sale, give it a chance, you won't regret it.
over all this game is very good. game design good, gameplay very good and the story is good too but it only gets really good near the end.
notable thing
one bridge is very aperant that you are supost to jump it but when you try you slam into the broken part of the other bridge
Really enjoyed this game. Its a good combo of car combat mixed with fighting. The challenge system is cool because it gives you something to work towards and gives it a little bit of an addictive quality. Story is extremely short though so take your time. Build up your character/car and once your bored beat the game haha
Mad Max: A Furious Journey Through the Wasteland, Full of Gasoline and Madness
Mad Max, developed by Avalanche Studios, is an open-world action-adventure game based on the iconic post-apocalyptic franchise. The game transports you to the barren lands of the Wasteland, where you take on the role of Max Rockatansky, a lone warrior obsessed with revenge and finding his stolen Interceptor.
What Makes Mad Max Special:
• Wasteland Atmosphere: Avalanche Studios has masterfully recreated the atmosphere of Mad Max. The Wasteland feels like a living, but hostile organism, full of dangers, gangs, and depleted resources.
• Brutal Combat: Mad Max's combat system is simple, but effective. Max is skilled with his fists and a variety of melee weapons, turning every fight into a brutal and dynamic spectacle.
• Vehicle Combat: Max's car, the Magnum Opus, is a key element of the game. Car battles are an explosive cocktail of ramming, arson, harpoons, and other deadly arsenals.
• Progression and Customization: You can improve Max's skills, as well as modify the Magnum Opus by adding armor, weapons, and other useful upgrades.
• Open-World Exploration: The Wasteland is full of secrets, camps, abandoned cities, and other interesting places to explore.
Pros:
• Atmospheric and Captivating Wasteland: The world of Mad Max feels alive and dangerous.
• Brutal and Dynamic Combat System: Encounters with enemies are spectacular and engaging.
• Epic Vehicle Combat: The Magnum Opus is a true machine of death.
• Progression and Customization System: The ability to upgrade Max and the Magnum Opus makes the game more interesting.
• Relatively Inexpensive (Often on Sale): Mad Max can often be bought at a discount, which makes it even more attractive.
Cons:
• Repetitive Missions: Some missions in the game are monotonous and can get boring.
• Plot Is Not the Most Original: The storyline is simple and predictable.
• Graphics Are Dated in Places: The game was released in 2015, so the graphics may seem a bit outdated by modern standards.
• Performance Can Be Unstable on Some Configurations: The game may be poorly optimized on some computers.
Verdict:
Mad Max is an excellent game for fans of the franchise and lovers of open-world action-adventure games. It offers a captivating Wasteland atmosphere, brutal combat, epic vehicle battles, and extensive progression and customization options. Despite some shortcomings, Mad Max remains an engaging and spectacular game that deserves attention.
Recommendation:
If you are a Mad Max fan, or just like open-world action games with vehicle combat, then Mad Max is an excellent choice. Especially if you find it on sale!
Score: 7.5/10
Decent driving, fun combat, deep vehicle customization system and an interesting story. Fun game, especially for $3 on sale.
lepas beberapa bulan beli game ni kadang ii drop sekejap kadang ii main sekejap akhirnya habis pun. Game ni kadang ii rasa repetitive tu sbb rasa bosan tu tapi overall story best tapi x gempak pun. Optimization dalm game ni memang x rilek sebab hampir semua devices aku main game ni semua lancar. So applaud untuk dev game ni. So total bintang aku bagi 7/10 ⭐.
The game is very fun and intuitive, and despite being a decade old it almost feels like it was made with the Deck in mind.
worst game. i wasted lot of time for this and get stuck in on mission that is impossible to win
Really impressive work of enthusiasm from a group of people who clearly got into the Mad Max mindset while working. The physical spaces and the vibes are on but also the way people in this world think, what they value and fear, their cool slang-it's fleshed out and treated with a kind of brisk respect that makes it all feel alive. This game feels like an additional piece of lore that adds to the big picture as opposed to something that at best mimics what was already there. Not a billion different pieces to this game, more like 50, but they all fit snugly together to make an almost-perfect loop that never slows down. Every thing you do, say, see, and explore is completely on-theme and designed for this world, which makes me feel warm and fuzzy inside, even as I crush another war boy's skull. Personally I would not choose the WB-style of combat and controls, but the world and everything else is designed for it, so it works-and is even fun.

Highly recommend finding everything on the map before you end it. The stronger your car is the better. There are a lot of repeating competitions and the side stories are a bit boring but all in all a decent game to waste the day away.
One of the very few games I can honestly say I've always had fun playing. It's never boring, it's never bad, it's always out there in its own way doing what it likes best. An open world racing/driving/car combat game with all the right bits and pieces in all the right places to add up to one hell of a package and of course, you can stick enemy drivers with a harpoon, yank them straight out of their driver seats and send them flying. It never, ever, gets old.
Mad Max, an open-world drive-around, guzzoline-drinking, crotch-kicking, anger-rather-than-thinking cinematic adrenaline pumper of a game with some flaws.....
You are Max, and you are Mad.... narrowly escaping death, thrown to the Buzzards, re-awakened by divine prophecy. In a harsh, deprived landscape, metal, fury and brimstone rules.... The Angel Combustion calls, of a weapon, a treasure.... The Magnum Opus, the tool to liberate the badlands.
You and your new side-kick Chumbucket (no joke thats his name) then set out seeking the parts required to realize the prophecy of the Angel, building the Magnum Opus and ultimately lead Max to what he wants.... Rvenge? Or Freedom? Redemption from his haunted past? What does Max really want?
So its an open-world collect-a-thon style game with many outposts, secrets, races and areas of interest to conquer. Yeah its not just driving, you're getting out and kicking everyone butts with Batman Arkham Asylum style combat and weapons in limited supply, which upgrading bases will give you a steady supply of when visiting.
So the game suffers a little from bloat and repetition and gate-keeping elements of the build in a linear fashion. But overall there is a fair amount of room to tackle as much of the game as you want to and decide when you are ready to press the story harder or spend more time strengthening yourself via liberation quests and car modifications. As such the completion time can vary by player and personal preference.
So yeah, lots of that Ubisoft style busy-work to flesh out run-time... but I like the visuals and the setting and the map is fairly large and explorable, even when outposts seems to be re-skinnned assets so unique landmarks are not that common.
Still a good game all around, I think to the degree of how much patience and willingness there is on your part to engage.
ok story line for time pass, but game mechanism can be better
fun old school action game, arkham style combat and good upgrading systems
This game brought me to tears. Please play this game bro. This game made a wee lad such as myself cry for this max.
A Master piece, so much fun! are playing my second run, played in 2019 and fondly remember the fun I had.
His name is Max, and he is Mad.
Hell of a game, if you like the movie (the 2015 one, not the newer hollywood slop), it's a must buy.
PROS:
- The story
- World exploration
- Car building
- Combat feels amazing
MID:
- Resource management system is not very accurate, I think I've never reached half the gas tank or had problems with water, specially after upgrading the forts
- Storms can be a pain in the ass sometimes
- Random enemies when you are just exploring can be a pain in the ass sometimes
CONS:
- Even with the car fully upgraded, driving it felt bad, really bad, and when the game MADE you drive another car was even worse, Christ.
Got it on sale and had no idea it would be a really good game. I've always liked the whole Mad Max movie franchise which is what prompted me to get it in the first place but the game itself is actually pretty darned terrific! :)
a bit buggy at first, watch a couple youtube vids, kinda easy fixes, it's a old game gonna be some bugs - story not bad so far, voice acting pretty good, game play fun but repetitive.
It's odd of how good this movie adoptation is, one of the bests of its kind in my opinion. I enjoyed it quite much. It contains everything that is the essence of the desperate "civilization's endgame" Mad Max lore - and nothing that doesn't belong. None of the Mad Max movies were complicated and the game is true for that spirit. As so, it has a somewhat slower build than similar games but it's not a negative thing, not at all. Also it very nicely gels with the newer movies.
As for mechanics it feels like Batman: Arkham Knight in the desert with bigger spaces and more driving to fit the lore. If you have maxed out your Guitar Hero rhythm fight skills in the Arkham series before you will very rarely bite the dust here, making Max a nightmare of the desert but as a polar opposite of Batman, Mad Max takes no prisoners. Not recommended for kids. Too much hell and uncovered human nature.
Great game, even if it is a tad grindy. Grab this thing when its on sale tho and make sure you dont get too invested in grabbing all the achievements, cuz the servers dying caused 1/150th of the achievement "Up to The Task" to be impossible without the achievement manager lol
They nailed the core gameplay loop. I didn't even bother with main missions for a good 20 hours because driving, beating up bandits and tuning the car was such a great experience. The story... isn't very coherent but it's made after an action movie so no high expectations. It was fun.
I saw this game at release and it caught my attention, but I never got the chance to play it. I finally played it in 2023, and it still holds up, even though it's an 8-year-old game.
The story or rather, the whole game revolves around your car. Making it faster and more durable allows you to handle more and more, and it feels incredibly satisfying.
It's relatively short, it took me about 30 hours, and I was exploring a lot. That length is for the better — if it were any longer, it might have started to feel repetitive.
played on orginal release date good game few bugs and glitches nothing major if you like fight guns and cars this is the game for you.
Rate 5/10, gameplay less than normal , The game story is good ,The graphics are good, There is repetition in the side missions which makes te game boring for a while, It is recommended to buy the game for a price of less then 5$ only
a bit of an under-rated gem in my opinion.
areas, combat and enemy designs can get a bit repetitive and samey (could also be because i went for 100% but yeah) but its still a great game and well worth it on sale.
similar combat system to batman games, so if you've played them it can be a breeze.
as a massive fan of the mad max franchise, it was a must buy on my part.
The game is so awesome. The Badass Badlands are set so Realistically that the Immersion is So real.I had a real good time with this game and feels sad that it ended very fast. One of the best new experience game.
