This game is the best, replay after PS4...just a f*cking Gem. I hope one day George Miller sits with this and sees the love these Devs and Writers have for the Wasteland. It's a beautiful, fun expansion of his imagination.

Bought this game for, 3 systems, its great, it has it's own atmosphere, its a WB game and they make excellent games, its absolutely a fun game in every way.

Overall, I'd say this game is maybe 6-7/10. There's SOME fun things, like the hand to hand combat, absolutely enjoyable and fun! But then starts to slow down with vehicle combat, which is good but not great. Then traversing the map and collecting stuff is beyond painful, dull, and boring. And zero story. If you're not infiltrating a camp to beat up some baddies then the snooze starts to kick in. Days Gone maybe be a better option, the hand to hand combat isn't as great but overall a much better game play

Good game, the action is fun, the driving and story are exemplerary. My 1 big gripe with this game is how many "side mission" locations you have to go to unlock base features. Why not just make it so you have to get 1 part and buy up the rest or just make it into a side quest to make it interesting like the black powder missions, it was long but interesting.

truly a impressive game as you progress and see your Magnum Opus getting stronger ... a perfect mix of survival driving and combat. wish there would be more games like this

Good storytelling but they could explore more definitely. Combat is extremely fun, Car upgrades and it's weapons is an unique concept especially when it's open world as well. All main missions are interesting and It actually felt short you will feel like you want to do more. Side missions and other stuff to do can be repetitive but if you like fighting, exploding stuff with your car it will be entertaining regardless. I think the main thing of the game is that the concept itself of how chaos the world become after it ended and you are trying to survive but you are also between a hero and a bad guyish. If you like the concept itself you will definitely enjoy the game.

Fun the first 2 hours. After you get tier 4 harpoon, car fights, which are the only enjoyable part, are so fucking easy. Just tear off a wheel and just ram them enemies when they get out, harpoon them, shoot them, blow them up, or just click 4 times on the ground to kill them. Story is alright though. Wandering the wasteland is boring. No real reason to go to scrap locations (not much scrap and the project parts are pointless. You always have enough resources, so the auto restock at strongholds is pointless).

Overall a pretty good game. If you like the open world conquer one camp/area at the time gameloop with a lot of character/car upgrading to boot, there is plenty of it here.
Combat very much resembles the Batman games and is for the most part very fun/satisfying.
On top of it is a good main story and some very good voice acting. It all truly feels like the Mad Max universe.

It does have it's few problems though. The main ones being 1 or 2 infuriating races (boom bug, i'm talking about you), Max's terrible jumping and of course the fact that you can only get 48/49 achievements, as they had the brilliant idea to have the last one be dependant on servers that are closed down long ago...

Still definitely worth a playthrough.

This is easily one of my favorite games on Steam. I've replayed it several times. It's unfortunate that Warner Bros did not put more into this. Some extra content would have been great.

As a basic package, it's really cool, the cars actually sound amazing! Leveling up your character, Cars, and other cool stuff is super! I go through and enjoy the game. I recommend it!

Game is solid. Only gameplay is very slow and bland. You have take a long journey from one loot point to another, basically just loot and upgrade your Magnum Opus (Car).
If you have a choice to choose between Mad Max Game and Rage 2, go for Rage 2, coz Rage 2 has all mechanics of Mad Max and has more gameplay, both being made by the same studio.

Very fun game, may seem boring at first but once you get to playing it, it gets better, you unlocked upgrades for the magnum opus and for max. For sure in the top 10 for me

I really liked playing this game, fun and griping story if you engage with it. Bit short if you ask me and wish we got a sequel. The cars are SICK like easily the best part of the game by far, from the sound to the design. Sadly the ending really really sucks dookie.

Good game overall, but the sand storms are the most annoying things I've ever dealt with in a video game. Nobody wants to listen to strong winds for 30-45 minutes. Would have been an amazing game if it were made by Bethesda. 6.5/10

This is so good game with good quality maybe it has some bugs, but game play is very interesting and a lot of happening. Missions are quite and easy, but racing are pretty hard to do them, so I rating it 10/10 ;)

Its a batman Arkham clone, with the unarmed combat with parries and heavy/light strikes, combos and such. but the gameplay is honestly very good. its a shame this game didnt get more attention, its reasonably polished and full of content. the only drawback is that due to the games age, some features relying on servers dont work. but the majority of those features are just comparing race times to friends and offline scrap gathering. so you'll just have to play to get your scrap. not a big deal. 8.5/10

I've done literally everything you're allowed and able to do before finishing the quest Fumehead's Debt. I'll admit, I'm not very good at the races in this game, Death Runs are probably the hardest part of this game, in my opinion. I've cleared all enemy camps, I've grabbed all but 2 of the collectibles, I've finished all the projects in all the strongholds... But Fumehead's Debt has me fuming (because the other word will get censored) mad. The 2 minute timer til your car explodes is a me issue, that's fair, I'm sure other people thought the timer wasn't even there, didn't matter to 'em, triggers my anxiety real bad, but whatever, it's not an issue with the game. What I do take issue with, that I think is an issue with the game, is the track for the Death Run you have to do with the Speed Demon for Fumehead's Debt. I hate that the car is way faster than what the track needs and has the poorest handling. There's a section where you have to fit thru this canyon that asks you to do a weird S shaped turn to get thru that I can never seem to get thru because I'm always (no matter how much I slow down beforehand) going too fast to get thru there and always seem to have the physics throwing me around and making me blow up, even if I hadn't taken any damage prior. I hate the Fumehead's Debt quest so much that, after over 20 years of gaming, I've met my first and only game that I refuse to finish.

Like all open world games, this one boils down to a rotating checklist of gameplay loops linked by an overworld.

Unlike other open worlds, this one is the wasteland - and omfg what a gorgeous wasteland it is.

This thing runs perfectly on maxed out settings on my steam deck OLED and it is one of the most immersive visual experiences I've had with 2d screens. Gaspworthy, jawdropping visuals and effects that nail the mad max style to the wall make this game seem like it's the original IP and all the movies the spinoffs.

All the little gameplay loop bits are fun to do too, for the most part. The driving combat is fast, crunchy, and brutal - and so is the melee brawling for that matter. It's all very mad max and very easy to get lost in. Unfortunately - there is just way too much overworld, and not enough variety in all the little gameplay loop bits.

Even though the infinite open-world that is actually a rotating checklist formula is more or less completely played out at this point, this is probably one of the single greatest examples of it simply by virtue of how perfectly the film concept matches the structure of the game itself.

If you like Days Gone, you'll probably dig this game. I actually really liked the hand-to-hand combat. Only critique is that the attack patterns for the bosses are basically all the same. Still a fun game to play with a podcast going on in the background.

Truly an underrated game. If you like that nice and sweet balance of Warner Bros type of beat-em-up and semi-open world story telling, (like Shadow of Mordor/War and the Batman Arkham games.) then you'll deeply appreciate this game.

Not to mention the surprisingly GREAT world building/story and the gritty, utility-based/hit-and-run car game-play.
The graphics hold up well due to the good design of the games' art-style and it's heavy use of post-processing to give it that MAD MAX look you love to see.

In retrospect, this game does it's job as an adaptation of the movies SUPER WELL. Not in story alone, but in feeling.
When you punch, kill, driver, get injured, grab scrap and gear; you feel each and every single impact and movements from the animations of Max alone. The oil that gets split on your screen after you blow up a car, it's flaming embers falling in-front of the heat haze of the scorching hot sun.

The industrial music that kicks in when you ram a gate open, vying to capture a half-destroyed bullet farm. Heaving through the unnatural chanting and war cries of the people trying to kill you. The upgrading of max and seeing how he transforms to be more viscous and violent whilst trying to make peace with himself while also trying to figure out how to make the strongest car in the middle of a war-torn dry ocean-bed, with it abundance of bandits, tribes, looters, psychos, warlords and soldiers. The voice acting is superb and the way the cars sound is beautiful.

The whole game is extremely satisfying and really a testament to the games' conceptual designs. 8/10. Why 8 and not 10? because this game doesn't really have a lot of replayability to it once you finish the game and it does have SOME bugs that are annoying, but nothing game breaking. It can also get a bit tedious, though that's more a play-style issue.

Still, i implore you to play it. Trust me. Buy it.

Rude Max. Stop being mean to Chumbucket he's been nothing but helpful. This may just be the most uninspired game ever made. Waypoint after waypoint between near identical rusty bases, with the occasional detour to grind out filler content for +X upgrades. What am I missing out on? More sand?

I think this game is underrated, especially if we consider when it came out (2015), and was overshadowed by other AAA titles during that time. I had lots of fun playing this even ten years after its release (2025), I was pleasantly surprised (sure you can see how it lacks polishing, and is rough in some edges).
If you liked the movie Mad Max: Fury Road you will like this game.

I'm so happy that I discovered this while on discount and experienced this game. Shame lots of people may have missed out.

PROS:
+ Surprisingly good graphics. especially for 2015 (like the explosions are so satisfying like a Michael Bay movie)
+ Fighting is amazing. You can really feel the power, anger. It's so good.
+ The whole wasteland vibe, post-apocalyptic dystopia is palpable. And this is the sum of many parts done well (not going to go in details).
+ The environment design, character and car customization are so true to the Mad Max world..
+ The last mission is emotional and action packed, like a movie ending. I felt it, was nice!

CONS
- Lack of things to do besides main quests. I myself like to max out a game with all the small errands to do, collect everything, clear all camps etc... so I was but with that for 50+ hours but I understand its most fun for majority of gamers and would rather have more meaningful content so I'll put this as a negative.
- Very few interactions with the world, from what we would expect from similar games nowadays. There is so much more potential left burrowed under ground.
- Better character building/ development
- Game is too easy

For sure, on sale its a very easy recommend. It is a Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor/war game in the mad max world. It came our around the same time. It is well done, tons of things to do. aorund 30hour to do the story and upgrade most things. for around 3$ on sale its a no brainer.

I will just Barely Pass on Recommending it. It Often on Sale, and I can only recommend it those looking for a Simple & Repetitive game. A turn off your brain type of game.

If you like the whole Mad Max setting, driving around in a wasteland, fighting off war boys and other nutjobs, destroying their camps while helping some 'decent' people, you'll love this game. You get to customize your vehicle and have things like a harpoon to rip off enemy tires, toying with war boys late game can get repetative, but still funny to do nonetheless. It's like in GTA where you are messing with gangs, but apocalypse style.

The only thing this game misses is being able to roam the wasteland with friends.

If you like the setting and idea of Mad Max- wasteland, scavenging, looting and trying to survive then you will love this game. The atmosphere is astonishing and gameplay is quite fun. It is a slow start but I am tired of games and media that always goes so fast you have time to realize whats happening. Highly recommend this game.

i am halfway trough the game with around 20 hours, bought it for 2 bucks and it feel like its an absolute steal. Enjoying it so far!

mad max has to be one of the best open world games to date...i mean it's mad max and the trusted magnum opus that sometimes drinks his secret sauce and starts flying through the air like chitty chitty bang bang at times so you will get some glitches and bugs but lets be honest most games these days have them..

Recommend for the atmosphere, car vibes, true open world and the harpoon tech. At some point in the game when you learn to use every utility, it became quite easy to beat, however car fights feels satisfying till the very endgame.

That being said this game has a few really annoying bugs and glitches which ruins general picture for me, also the gameplay loop is noticeably repeatable, there's no unique enemies, just bunch of types which are repurposed extensively (bosses especially).

Sometimes the game feels like a checklist with the same tasks over and over again, in every region, there's no variety.

Still if you're looking for simple far cry like experience but mostly oriented on third person car fights and other open world activities this game is really good at it. Also it is really good for completionists (putting aside the fact that one particular glitch can block you from 100%-ing the game without cheats or other fishy stuff)

Their is no hope, & their Is no glory...

MAD MAX unlike many other dark or grim games doesn't ease its tone, nor give you reprieve with a cop-out happy ending, this isn't maggot bait, Dead End Aegis or manhunt 2, it stays with its nihilist message, and in the end you're journey was in vain.

All that time spent made perfecting your magnum opus? gone in a flash. That sweet family max could have joined? hanged and beaten to death. You're mentally unstable yet helpful companion? Betrays you and chooses death over losing his false idol the magnum opus.

The game may have some problems with excessive grinding & bugs/performance issues, but the hopeless story along with its brutal hand to hand and driving game-play more than make up for its shortcomings.

MAD MAX succeeds in telling a truly nihilistic story, where hope is lost, glory is in vain, and the world has truly gone... mad...

After watching both new Mad Max movies , I felt the urge to play this game finally . Boy was I missing out on an Epic game . Mad Max stays true to the genre with some awesome nods to the movie franchise . I`d say this game is closer to Mad Max 2 movie than the new ones (Doge & Sidekick). It took me 30hrs to complete it with some collectables and all side missions & I loved every minute of it . Driving is fun and vehicular combat even more so . Hand to hand combat is Batman Arkham games = GREAT . Every location encourages you to go there as every little desolate place has a story to tell , not through narrative , but through visual art work . This game is 9/10 in 2024/2025

Mad Max relied heavily on grinding systems. So, if you don't like doing things repeatedly, you may want to avoid this game. Yes, the game can keep you many hours with it but not because it has a long and profound story; instead, the game gives you plenty of side missions to do. Over 90% of the side missions are about looting items with less than 10% of beating enemies or destroying towers (if you have some). Plus, you will spend most of your time in a car. If you don't like driving (or driving systems in this game which is nothing compared to Forza or NFS), you should reconsider buying this game.

However, if you are really into its series, this game is a great choice for dragging you into the world of Mad Max, which is identical to the movies. As I have mentioned previously, because of the grinding systems, the game can keep you, for at least, more than 10 hours. If you don't have any game to play and are looking for a long-term game with a cheap price, Mad Max is not a bad choice. The story is neither interesting nor attractive. Act 4 and 5 are at their best, but before that, the narrative is very boring.

Its really cool at base value, the cars actually sound amazing compared to most racing games where they sound like they have 3 mufflers on. However, unfortunately the game kinda burns out relatively quickly, as start to finish the game is pretty much the exact same the entire way through. Do missions, go through annoying mini dungeons kinda to find certain parts to upgrade your base, finish upgrading the base, and then unlock another base and do the same thing again, while slowly upgrading your car along the way which doesnt do to much in the big picture except make it faster and be able to destroy the repetetive "dungeons" and destroy the enemy bases. Only difference between beginning game and end game, is that youll be destroying bigger doors which require an ugpraded harpoon to pull the doors off, and youll be getting places faster with your vehicle upgrades. Other then that you *mostly* have everything unlocked straight off the tutorial. Only other main thing about base upgrading is, is that you can just go straight to your base when you upgrade and find enough parts that you wont have to scavenge the map as heavily for fuel, food, or water supplies. Theirs also a feature for auto-picking up scraps aka upgrade material when you get the parts and unlock it at the base. Other then that though again theirs really nothing overwhelmingly desirable to complete to the end, or grind for on this game so get on sale.

I heard good things about this game, thus as an avid fan of the last (two at this point) movies of the franchise, I was eager to try it out.

I must say, the game didn't disappoint my expectations, it's a pretty good tie-in for the movies, even though it isn't directly connected with any of them. The grim atmosphere, the bright colors, the wasteland with its crazy characters, Gastown… it's all there and it's well executed. The story is fine, nothing too original but it's ok. Some sections, in particular those inside the airport and the metro, had a bit of a horror vibe, and reminded me somewhat of the Metro series. Mostly though the game is action focused, with vehicular and melee combat. The first one is a great simulation of the movie scenes, while the on foot part is more similar to the Batman Arkham series combat style, a bit too easy and repetitive even though serviceable.

Throughout the game we will gather resources in order to improve our character and most importantly our car, which is the centerpiece of the show. We’ll have all the fun gadgets we need to dominate the wasteland and bring destruction upon enemy vehicles and camps.

The main gameplay loop outside of the missions is fine, albeit it could get a bit grindy and repetitive after a while, at least while trying to max out the upgrades.

Locations are well designed, and various as much as they can be in a desert wasteland setting.

The car handling is good and it changes significantly with any setup change / upgrade.

On a side note, scattered around the huge game map there are some history relics, which are basically pictures of the past, usually with some captions. Some of those really got under my skin and managed to bring me a sense of dread while reading them because they're so topical to the present day and age, especially those describing the beginning of the end.

I also appreciated the faithfulness to the movie franchise and the reference to the first one (the car which is taken away from Max at the beginning is the one from Interceptor). Also the black finger guy Chum is probably a reference to the limping mechanic?

Aside from the overall “grindyness” of the gameplay loop, the other complaint I have is about the audio, lacking a bit of music (imo) and also suffering from audio compression artifacts when a lot was going on at the same time. Not sure if that was a problem caused by my system / OS (I played the whole game on a Linux Mint system) or it was a game issue, since I read online it had some audio issues at launch.

All in all then a good licensed video game tie-in, with some really cool set pieces and an overall enjoyable gameplay loop. Not a masterpiece, but definitely a game I'd recommend to anyone.

This is one of those "you'll either love it or think that it's just ok" type of games. You'll definitely know whether or not you're going to gel with it by the time you get 2 hours into it, or will will just drop off and pick it up only occasionally. I relatively enjoyed the films (ok.....I've seen them all once and didn't necessarily dislike them), so I'm familiar with the setting and vibe this game has, and was sorta expecting what I was going to be getting into.

Essentially, this game is the combat of the Batman: Arkham series, the driving of Borderlands, and the world setting somewhere between Borderlands and Fallout. All of which are games I enjoy and have played multiple times over. In those respects, this game does everything pretty well.

The one thing that gets it for me is the game DOES get pretty monotonous pretty quick. The whole story (thus far at least) is that your car has been destroyed by raiders and you're left for dead, but you've survived and now it's time to rebuild & get vengeance on those who destroyed your ride! It's a decent premise for the pick up and play style of game play this has going for it and I actually applaud this game for not spending too much time on slogging you down with a ton of exposition.

The world, however, has very little in terms of variety. In a way, it reminds me of the Far Cry games in that there's not really any towns to visit and explore, but rather just one sprawling wasteland with various bases and raiders to attack. It's not bad, per se, as it's meant to be more of a playground arena for your car, and the only getting out and walking/fighting you're going to do is going to be at the various bases littered around the map. So I'm stuck somewhere in the middle on how I feel when it comes to the map. On one hand, I love that the developers built the world with the goal of vehicular combat and speed in mind, but on the other had, I would have also liked more towns to visit much like in the Fallout games.


You'll know pretty quick whether or not this will be a game for you. I AM giving the one a "recommend" verdict as it does succeed at what it's trying to do, but it it CAN get very repetitive and doesn't really offer much in terms of variety. It has a clear goal in mind, and fully commits to it. I'll probably just stick to giving the movies a rewatch when I need my Mad Max post apocalyptic fix, but who knows, you may enjoy what this game has to offer more than I did.

Game's fine, tad bit repetitive when you want to clear every area. The story is honestly mediocre except some later plot points and even then it feels like it develops quite quickly. Gameplay is great, it feels fun to blow up cars and the combat both melee and in ride feels beefy, but like I've said some things are very repetitive which can kill that feeling a little.

Overall a good game to just turn off your brain and blow things up, punch, burn and all.

Didn't know this game existed until 9 years after release. Fun game, true to the source material. Id recomend it to anyone who likes open world games with rpg elements, road rage driving carnage, and some mindless beatem up. Went looking for a sequel as soon as i finished playing it, but sadly there doesn't appear to be one, otherwise i would be buying that as well. Picked it up on steam sale for $4 and i would have been easily happy had i paid $20 for it instead.
