Buggy game with limited graphic options. You can't change field of view and you can't turn off depth of field. You can't play without vsync on or vehicles/buildings turn invisible.

Aged really well. Only one thing - controls. It's really a weak spot in this game. I really recommend to redefined it for your controller type.

There isn't much to say besides I love this game. I love it so much I have bought it on every platform. This game got me into Mad Max and I've always been obsessed since. Seriously it is one of my top 5 of all time. I mean I could rant about this game for hours.

I've 100%-ed this game, and I can honestly say it has one of my favourite driving mechanics in any game. It feels fun to drive around the wasteland. The combat is simple punch & counter, but it doesn't take away from the game.

Even the story is pretty good and had a surprisingly emotional ending.

TLDR: i think it's overrated but still was fun. recommended on sale.

-main story is kinda short. world is a bit empty. i mean it's literally a desert. activities get repetitive after a while.
-game is not fun enough to make you wanna go for 100% achievements. but fun enough to keep you engaged and finish the story. at least that was my experience.
-movement mechanics are a bit clunky and its hard to control the car even with maximum handling stat. i enjoyed the arkham style fighting. not my usual go-to but it was pretty casual fun.
-experienced some audio issues where i couldnt hear certain cues and also sometimes it was delayed but nothing too immersion breaking.

it felt lacking but it's a good passtime.

Gritty based story mode and raw Mad Max era. Great graphics with progression and a wasteland to explore.

What a snooze fest, I was led to believe it was an underrated gem, I've been played like a fiddle.
Game design, gameplay, story, art direction, music are mediocre, the only good thing was the optimization.

I'm in love with this. If someone told me that this is a a 2015 game I wouldn't belive it.

I think this just became my favourite Survival/Story game, the story is breathtaking and I loved every second of It, the characters are really well made, the voice actors really did a great job, the grapics are really good, never had a problem with it. I love how the feeling of End of the World comes trough with the historical relics, and with Max's telling. The combat system Is awsome, I really liked it, and the handling of the car is on god better than in some car games. The sounds are amazing. I love the objectives in every way and enjoyed playing It. Never even heard of bugs in this game, maybe It's just me but I didn't noticed any In the 56 hours of playing. The Map is great and gives the end of the world vibe, and I loved it.

10/10 recommend It, It worth the price.
I think everyone needs to at least try this masterpiece.

Mad Max is an intriguing game that delivers a compelling experience, though not without its flaws.

The story starts off strong, drawing players into the harsh, post-apocalyptic world with gripping intensity. However, as the narrative progresses, it begins to lose some of its momentum, particularly towards the end.

Gameplay-wise, it took a bit of time to get accustomed to the mechanics, but once I did, it felt satisfying and didn’t detract from the overall experience. The vehicular combat and exploration were highlights, adding to the immersion of the wasteland setting.

While Mad Max isn’t a perfect game, I still found enjoyment in my journey through the desolate world.

6.5/10 – A flawed but entertaining experience.

This game was so slept on when it came out. I remember deciding between this and MGSV, ultimately picked the latter and forgot about it.

That was a mistake, because this game stands as one of the best movie-game spin-offs ever made.

It runs amazing on just about anything, from my deck to my main PC. It's a great deal of fun, there is tons to do and the map is quite expansive. The characters are memorable and the story is quite engaging at times.

The gameplay is very similar to the Arkham or Spider-man games, so if you like those, you'll probably love this.

This is the last game I played on my old PC. I was half way finished; but the first game I picked up on my new one over many other titles immediately. This game was much better than I originally expected! You liberate camps and loot like Far Cry but everything revolves around the car like Days Gone with the bike. Just a very one of a kind game, I got it for $1.99 on sale but it's worth the $19.99 in my opinion.

Such amazing but underrated game, it was released on a very bad timing, so many great games came out in 2015 and Mad Max didn't get enough attention. About gameplay - It's literally Batman Arkham combat system meets Far Cry in Fallout-like apocalyptic wasteland with car combat. Sounds good, isn't it? And it's actually are!

For a game that came out 10 years ago (2015) the open world in this amazing and the graphics are INSANE. The car combat is fun. The hand to hand combat is also fun. I like it when max rages and goes into fury mode and starts destroying his enemies one by one. The story is pretty good and the characters are well written, each with their unique voices and incredible personalities. I found myself getting attached to some characters due to the fact of how real the world felt and how the environment shaped and affected the characters though out the story. The struggle of finding food, water and fuel made it feel like a real post apocalyptic experience. Upgrading the car as you progress through the story/world makes the game more enjoyable.

if you love fast cars, fist fights survival and exploration then i highly advise to play Mad Max. It is an underrated gem for fans of the post-apocalyptic settings.

Absolute masterpiece of a game, hand to hand combat reminds me of the batman arkham games and the vehicular combat is perfection once you understand the fundamentals. I found the game first but quickly devoured the movies (original trilogy is PEAK) and this is just such a good time killer anywhere from 30 mins/an hour to 5+ hours (many nights have been wasted on this game but so worth it). I would recommend waiting for it to go on sale rather than pay full price though

After being disappointing new releases, I decided to buy a bunch of older games. Mad Max is a really good example of old but gold. Surely, there are some problematic areas with this game. Fetch quests, mostly same side missions, the structure of the game stays the same throughout in my opinion. However, the feel, environment, art design, graphics, voice acting and not to mention the open vast world which sometimes is gorgeous to look at and just get lost wandering in it, feels satisfying. I think this escapism is what I needed in this busy world. 8/10

The car combat and destruction in the game is one of the best I ever played, story and hand to hand could use some improvements though.

Really fun, large game, reminiscent of FarCry with cars.
Fantastic bang for your buck.
Wish there was a sequel.

I see a trio of people in the desert dying of thirst, so I stop the car, jump out and hand them my canteen. It skips to the cutscene of the vagabond hesitantly taking the water. About 6 seconds in the cutscene quits mid-scene to the hilarious footage of me and the beggars all getting plowed into and thrown into the air by an oncoming enemy vehicle.

There are NO invincibility frames in this game, even during cutscenes, and it’s hilarious.

One of if not THE best movie universe tie-in games. If you like the Mad Max universe you'll like this game. Great gameplay, great characters and dialogue. It's just as fun to just drive around the great white looking for scrap as it is battling giant gimps with big pipes...

mechanic combat is too easy. the story is mid af. but the exploration is quietly fun

This is was way over my expectations, And it dont get boring grinding through all the different lot locations since every single lot location or fortress is unique, not like many other games when there is a template for a couple of bases and they keep getting reused, in this game everything is unique and it keeps it fun exploring!
heavy melee fighting that is fairly restricted in the wat of moves, but it is still fun and don't get too repetitive.
All in all i would give this game 4/5

This game is a ton of fun, especially if you are a big Mad Max fan. Vehicle combat is super fun and the hand to hand combat makes you truly feel like a legend of the wastes once you get it down. Absolutely worth the time!

Nothing I can say that other reviews haven't said. This game is one of my all-time favorite hidden gems in the world. Combat, driving, collecting, upgrading, etc. It's all well designed and satisfying, without being overly-complicated. The car combat is super fun, and stopping to get out for hand-to-hand combat, steal vehicles, and drive them back to your base for your collection is super satisfying. The story is pretty basic, but the clans of the Mad Max universe are VERY well represented. If you like the Arkham style combat, mix it with awesome sandbox map exploration in cars that are incredibly fun to drive in the open desert.

100% Recommend. Don't even care about sales, if you're looking at this page right now, buy the game.

Fun game. Gets a bit repetitive by the end, but it's great entertainment.

It's a good game for something like 70% of the playtime, then it's a downward shit covered spiral on fire. The game is an open world scavenge exploration car "simulator" where you drive around the post apocalyptic world of mad max, and clear outposts on foot in free flow fights against multiple enemies. The game base mechanics are good until you hit the mid-game. The shortcomings and flawed mechanics overlap to the point the game becomes unbearable. In random order:
- car handling is abhorrent. you would expect it to be perfect given the time you spend driving... but once you start upgrading the vehicle speed you realize that the simulation is -disgustingly bad-, so much it's fake. Basically, everything from grip to acceleration to top speed is -animated- instead of simulated, and the car basically -floats- above the ground, instead of being stuck to it by gravity, with the consequence that handling is abysmal. Additionally, physics are laughable in which collisions with enemy vehicles or scenery literally always result in less force than expected, and completely ridiculous spin forces leaving your vehicle read-ended or making it take off like a paper plane
- looting is a fun mini game at the start, and becomes an annoying and ridiculous chore, because sites are doctored so that there's always a hidden part or accessory that'll waste your time because some idiot thought it was good game design to force players into internet searches to scrounge every resource because the late game expense requires that you loot for 100 hours to unlock everything
- the story is good until the mid game, after which it becomes a brain damaged and disgraceful drama. we all know that mad max doesn't live happy adventures but there's always a sort of positive message in the movies, that the subhumans who wrote this completely shat upon: at one point, the happenings are so surreally bad that it takes away the pleasure you had until that point in the game
- the outpost building and upgrading is pointless. you literally spend dozens of hours gathering resources for everything to make zero sense in the endgame. beside the achievements, there's zero consequence for ignoring all or doing a 100% completion. this is so insane that you'll spend time on the internet trying to figure how it's possible and why there are no alternate endings that reward your playtime
All in all, It's impossible to suggest this game, unless you get it to play the initial part of the game without engaging into the story or anything besides the main storyline, so unless you're a desperate fan of the movies, steer away from this trash.

Excellent game, just be aware the servers went off, so If you want all the achievements forget it. If not, prepare to enter the wastelands and have so much fun and be amazed.

The playtime if you're a completionist is somewhere in the range of 100+ hours.

Spectacular Game
I had more fun exploring, and side missions were more fun than the main story.
A sequel with the Nemesis system would be pretty awesome!

While Mad Max doesn't reinvent the open-world genre, I loved reveling in the things it gets right. Burning through the wasteland in a guzzolene-fueled killing machine and smashing desert raiders at high speed is a perfect screen-to-screen translation of this seminal cinematic series, but the deeper richness of the world itself is a masterclass in subtle presentation, and it goes a long, long way towards selling the experience overall. Top class.

This game does a great job of kicking you to the gutter and then making you GRIND to get back up to true road warrior badass status. The environments get repetitive, and stronghold upgrades are a MUST to stay topped off in the wasteland, but once you get your V8 screaming hellhog up to speed nothing can stop max. wait for it to go on sale $20 or below. deep game with notes of arkham/red-dead/shadow of mordor style open world

The best parts of a multitude of other games all mashed up into one coherent package that feels fun and enjoyable to play. This game deserved better.

One of the coolest open world survival games out there. Everything about this game was insane, the story, the combat, the visuals, the characters and the vehicles.

Hidden Gem. This game is an absolute steal on sale and looks/plays great despite being released a decade ago. I had a ton of fun with the various things to do: strongholds to improve, areas to clear, things to collect, races and enemies to find, etc. The map is huge to explore with a lot of environments and landmarks to visit that really get you into the Mad Max world vibe. You could complete most the game before realizing you should probably start working more on the story quests but that is alright since there are plenty of gross but great wasteland characters to interact with and a lot of side quests to discover. Loved getting to build up my Magnum Opus and creating a grittier Max.

Not so much Fury Road as the junction of Boredom Street and Mildly Annoying Avenue... boring, dreary, lifeless, uninteresting game. Big fan of the completely redundant jump button though, that was a hoot.

It was a pretty fun drive through the wasteland. It feels loosely based on the Mad Max franchise and certain key elements were changed from the movie for reasons unknown, but its fun to pass the time none the less.

The game is very mediocre. It is very repetitive.
The driving is not very refined. It can be hard just tog the car to go in a straight line because the smallest key tap is always a slight over correction. The vehicle combat is ok at first, but gets worse as the game progresses. You end up driving in circles ramming the same vehicle over and over trying to break down its armor. Also, the car you get upgrades not very good. The hand to hand combat is VERY simple. It uses simplified Batman Arkham combat.
Then there is the story. It is low effort, which was ok until it finally takes a turn and instantly ruins an investment the player has in it.
I stopped playing, and would not recommend. This game feels kind of like an incomplete alpha.

I recently revisited a game often described as underrated, and I can understand why it might have flown under the radar. Released on the same day as Metal Gear Solid 5—one of my all-time favorite games—I overlooked it at the time. However, after acquiring it during a sale last year and finally playing it after watching the original films, I must say the experience surprised me. While the storyline felt somewhat average, the gameplay was engaging and enjoyable. The highlight of the game, though, is its stunning yet desolate world, which captures the atmosphere of the franchise remarkably well. While the loneliness of this world might not appeal to everyone, it is a fitting tribute to the series' tone.

The combat system is satisfying, albeit not as complex as those found in the Arkham or Middle-Earth series. It works effectively within the game's context and feels appropriately grounded. What stands out the most is the car combat mechanic. Players spend much of the game upgrading the Magnum Opus, a vehicle your ally, Chumbucket, promises will become the most formidable in the Wasteland. After Max's original car is stolen by the antagonist, Scabrous Scrotus, the Magnum Opus becomes central to the gameplay. At first, I was skeptical about Chumbucket as a companion, but his quirky dialogue adds life to the barren wastelands, and his role in weaponizing the Magnum Opus makes him invaluable. Additionally, the survival mechanics, such as managing Max's health with water and fueling the car, add an extra layer of immersion.

The game world is divided into four main regions, each with subregions and a fortress that acts as a sanctuary for Max and the Magnum Opus. To secure these territories, players must undertake various activities, such as clearing enemy camps, destroying oil pumps, dismantling scarecrows, defusing minefields, and defeating "Top Dogs," who serve as henchmen to the main antagonist. Exploration is facilitated through hot-air balloons that serve as vantage points, revealing the map's points of interest. Scrap acts as the in-game currency, used to upgrade both Max and the Magnum Opus. Players can also discover car bodies, convoy accessories, and historical relics that provide insights into the pre-apocalyptic world.

Progression in the game is well-structured, with clear objectives that naturally integrate into gameplay. Players can earn Griffo tokens to enhance Max's abilities, collect project parts to improve strongholds, and complete both main story missions and optional Wasteland missions, which often reward upgrades for the Magnum Opus. The game also features "Death Runs," comprising three race types: Scatter Runs (open-route races), Barrel Bashes (checkpoint races requiring barrel destruction), and Time Bombs (time-sensitive races under enemy attack). Winning these events unlocks cars and Griffo tokens. Additionally, players can collect enemy vehicles or use Archangels—specialized variants of the Magnum Opus designed for specific challenges.

While the gameplay loop can feel repetitive, upgrading the Magnum Opus from a fragile car to a powerful beast is immensely rewarding. Despite its strengths, the game has some shortcomings. Frame rate drops occasionally occur (at least on PS4), the soundtrack is virtually non-existent, and the jump mechanic feels unnecessary due to Max's limited mobility. Additionally, climbing is restricted to designated ledges, which can feel arbitrary at times.

Although I am not a completionist, I enjoy pursuing platinum trophies in games I like. Unfortunately, the one online trophy required for this game is now unattainable due to the shutdown of its servers, which was disappointing to discover.

In conclusion, I would rate this game an 8/10. It offers an enjoyable experience, particularly for fans of the franchise or those who appreciate its unique setting and gameplay. I recommend purchasing it during a sale, as it provides excellent entertainment despite its flaws—just be mindful that achieving 100% completion is no longer possible.

The game is okay, the world is really open and you end up spending to much time driving with a really stale music. The game crash so often and the graphic keep set to max even though that's main cause of the crash. Getting scrap is annoying and you're vehicle health is so weak that you spent most of the time in low health.

Overall it's not that fun or entertaining.
