June 2024 Updates
The iRacing 2024 Season 3 Release Build is here! This release includes new content, upgrades, and fixes for 2024 Season 3, which officially starts on June 10th at 0000 UTC! iRacing adds two new GT3 cars, the Chevrolet Corvette Z06 GT3.R and the Ford Mustang GT3. We’ve also added a two-for-one deal with the new Street Stock - Casino & Eagle - two cars included in the same package! The iRacing map expands with three new pins: Circuito de Navarra (3 configs), Oswego Speedway (2 configs, Dirt Oval coming soon!), and Sachsenring. We’ve also added a new track configuration to Indianapolis Motor Speedway that matches how the circuit is raced in NASCAR.
As for features, we have BIG NEWS! This release will fully implement the New Damage Model on ALL VEHICLES in the entire service! That’s right, every single car will now benefit from the improved physics and visual experience brought by using the New Damage Model. A few vehicles have received special attention with this release, including the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup (992) and the NASCAR Trucks Series Trucks. The Porsche has been updated to the latest available technical specifications, while the NASCAR Trucks Series Trucks have received significant updates and improvements based on research performed in partnership with NASCAR, as well as extensive computational fluid dynamics (CFD) analysis.
The iRacing application is also becoming fully featured with this release, with the addition of some long-awaited Stats and Results improvements: the Driver Leaderboard and Lap Charts & Lap Graphs. We are also rounding out the New Racer Onboarding experience by adding Sports Car as an option.
If you haven’t had enough to drink yet, you’re in luck - TEN additional vehicles are rain-ready, including the entire GT4 Class! And finally, all new content arrives AI-enabled. Get in gear and prepare for iRacing 2024 Season 3!

This game is way too expensive and confusing.
It could be a good game, but the rating system is really stupid. It doesn’t matter if you qualify first—if someone takes you out in the first lap, you still lose iRating and Safety Rating. I don’t mind paying for the subscription, cars, and tracks, but I would expect a better system.
Very expensive to get the basic things on a subscription, currently you need to pay a subscription and additionally a dlc most expensive on game, plus the engine physics are very… normal?
Honestly i would give this a positive review or even a mixed review if that was an option. As i want to and will continue to play this but i honestly cannot recommend it due to its ridiculous pricing model, which honestly might stop me from playing at some point.
its annoying because this has genuinely became one of my favourite racing sims of all time, it has incredibly nice feeling handling, very competitive and (mostly) fair racing, interesting events like real time endurance racing with the ability to make a team of drivers to race it, insane small details like track debris, window cracks tyre wear, fuel drain and etc...
However its pricing model is just straight up mental insanity. Paying monthly whatever i don't mind so much, paying for cars? bit annoying but atleast you just need to buy a car for whatever specific class you want to race in, but paying for nearly every single godamn track just to even have a chance at using said car you bought is genuine fucking insanity. like i honestly wouldn't mind paying more monthly just to have access to all or most cars and tracks because i genuinely want to play more but the paywall for everything is such a massive hindrance to the experience and because of it many racing series are completely dead because of it.
The worst part about this paywall is that once you buy something there is zero guarantee it'll stay around forever as they consistently discontinue and disuse older vehicles and tracks whenever the hell they decide they've became obsolete or "legacy content" essentially meaning that they'll never use it again, because of this the game has a massive problem when it comes to car variety, there's not many in terms of older or classic race cars that you can use really which i'd personally love to see. you only really have a choice of getting the latest and greatest of cars as if you don't, you wont get your money's worth due to it either not being used in any series or simply because it'll just turn into legacy content at some point (though they do give refunds if they discontinue it within 1 year of purchasing it)
either way, genuinely incredible sim, one of the best out there for competitive multiplayer racing, but fucking ABYSMAL pricing for everything
Hands down the best racing sim out there if you care about purely racing and dont mind going into debt. The physics of the game are unparalleled compared to AC, ACC, GT, and LMU.
Pay per year, pay per track, pay per vehicle. Get wrecked in T1. Scumbag game
Not a Fan of the Price Model, but this is a great Sim. So far iam good with minimal investment 2 cars + 2 tracks
A fun racing sim, but is everything that is wrong with the current gaming landscape. A monthly subscription is very scummy, especially for a game where you have to buy tracks and cars at a premium price. If they're gonna do that it should be free to play. I would recommend any of the hundreds other sims before I would support this type of business model.
For a subscription product, the quality and user experience is pretty poor.
Linux isn't fully supported
- Most of it works aside from ranked (which is the main appeal)
Controller support is pretty bad (Could be because of linux, but other racing games work just fine).
- Can't set dead zones
- Can't configure sensitivity (specifically sensitivity curves)
The poor controller is the main reason that the game isn't enjoyable (Makes sense considering this is a pretty expensive hobby "game" and not really a game to pass the time)
Do not get this game on linux in it's current state (it shouldn't be on the steam store for linux users).
trash stuff imagine getting banned in race for a practice session that was even out of that race series, dont waste ur money and nerves u are paying for cars or tracks and NEED TO FARM SAFETY RATING BUT U WILL LOSE IT IF SOMEONE DRUNK DAD WILL CRASH IN U on purpose, just let that thing die already
glad i wasted my money on this crap game for 1 it looks horrible plays horrible cant use a controller if you wanna use your key board u literally have to turn with ur mouse well guess what u run out of room on your mouse pad an make 1 tiny little wrong move u instantly spin out an total your car unless you spend 500$ on a haptic feed back wheel dont even bother buying this game cuz those 30$ thrustmaster ferrari wheels u get on facebook market place are trash you either gotta get the logitech wheel with haptic feed back or the 19000$ wheel an sim set up in the long run you will spend more money then an actual car to even be able to enjoy this game
the game is fun to play and it is cool to see the cars to drive and the tracks but be careful on how you play and be careful about the drivers at least the rookies because they don't how to to play the game but every one is learning
can u guys fix the damn fucking issue where the fucking screen goes black for no reason in a middle of a race i've lost 3 races to night alone bc this damn fucking stupid fucking glitch .. thank u devs fuck this shits so annoying
Game feels so realistic, When i go back to the F1 games i feel 10x faster. Plus class graphics.
Just a shame you need to be rich to own all the cars and tracks in this subscription-based game.
overall 9/10
It’s the most accurate racing sim by far that I’ve ever played. However buying the game and then buying more tracks, more cars, and then trying to figure out how to setup races and teams takes hours on end. Is the game great, it definitely can be, but does it itch the sim racing side you always wanted. No not by a long shot. It’s 2025 with a subscription service that’s $22 on sale top of the price of the game for the first year and then it’s $113 for the next year. That’s without cars or tracks, buying the F1 Mercedes car was $18 more dollars. I haven’t bought any tracks but you only have access to like 5 tracks without buying any.
It’s like a real life project car. AKA the money pit. If you’re hard core into sim racing and want to spend your entire life against sweats and pay your hard earned money just to access a game you already bought buy this one. If you’re looking to get into more realistic sim racing but are trying to do it for fun. I’d look elsewhere.
One of the best racing sim I've played. Def worth it it is expensive but just do what i did and buy a year sub for like $20 on a holiday sale and renew it next year. The Feel of driving the cars feels really good like if anything that is missing is just the G force. You got many type of discipline Oval, Dirt Oval, Dirt Track, Gt/Sport, Formula so just pick any and get out there!!! see you on the tarmac !!!!!!!
Started having issues randomly after 5 months of racing. After 3 fresh installs of windows 11, steam and this game only, I still had issues. Fresh install to Windows 10 finally fixed my issues of not being able to load past 15%, the 'opening channel' step in loading the sim.
The only I mean only downside to this sim (other than costs may be too high for some younger players) is that the continued, on-going crash fests seem to have zero accountability for those who continually seek to wreck other drivers striving to reach results. So many deliberate crashes ...... Hard to maintain a positive rating when every race someone deliberately makes contact with you. And No, iracing, there are not all just racing deals..
I recommend the game, I am all about immersion.
Things that ruin the immersion:
VR graphics needs to be updated.
Streaming of the game needs more resolution, currently it only sends in 720p and from 1 eye only.
Other people should be able to see where VR helmets is looking to. And, if possible, Hands position for Quest 3. (Quest 3 already has hand tracking, Just add that.)
Voice chat needs an option to send voice only to the drivers immediately around, so that people on the other side of the rack don´t get disturbed by it.
Other wise:
There is a big number of small tracks, easy to learn for rookies. (myself)
New Funny Weather racing is amazing.
Too many Mario cart drivers. Very limited unless you are willing to spend a LOT of money on tracks and cars. All in all Too expensive for what you get.
The EOS suport for proton is still rubbish, you will not be able to play online in any ranked matches which is iRacing's selling point.
You may try your self, but there will be an "EOS_acccar_nullclient" when you have joined the session, which instantly kicks you from the session (hint: it dosent close the window you just cant do any thing)
do not get iracing through steam it has so meany bugs with updates like missing files and re downloading the whole game for a 2gb update!
just don't. the pricing is so scummy I can't in good conscience recommend it to anyone.
Absolutely the best Racing Sim out there hands down, in my opinion. The Realism of the physics is what does it for me. The only downfall is the rude people who don't respect real racing and are in it just to crash people out. As far as the sim as a whole, it's absolutely fantastic. If you're a true fan of motorsports and love real racing, this is the sim for you!
ive raced cars for years. just heard of this game and its a game changer, its about as close as you can get to racing a real car. i love how you can test and tune without having to harm your car what so ever. im lowkey obsessed
Absolutely awesome. Best racing simulator game out there as its so realistic. only downfall sometimes is that you get some really useless drivers that either get jealous if you pass them and then they try and take you out, loving riding the brakes or braking in the fastest part of the circuit trying to get you to crash or just shouldn't drive. But if you get a good group of racers its some awesome racing
It keeps saying missing file privileges when i try to update it
just bout the best all around racing sim...and theres so many different series to run in..if your into racing games or sims...u wont find any better..i once heard all roads leads to IRACING..and well thats about all that i need to say
1st i wanna say my hours played is completely wrong. raced for 4 months. roughly 300+ hrs spent.
now the review.
sub based , then huge pay walls after the sub. you pay for everything, Cars, tracks, hosting a race. (example: after getting out of rookies class 7 of 9 races in D class are paid tracks. plus the price of the car if you choose to not race the cookie cutter cars you get in your sub. that $13US every week if you dont alrdy own the track.) Safety points system is bad in terms of getting points off for someone hitting you.
I do enjoy the game and it is the best IMO for the genre but the pay walls are hard to get by. totaled up $2000+ US for all tracks and cars.
Again I do enjoy the game but DLC prices after a SUB fee is too much for my broke self.
the next best thing to being in a real race car, it was amazing to me of the amount of detail in the cars and tracks.
There's completely no competition when it comes to a full racing platform. You can race at any time of day, in pretty much whatever you want, and there will be like-minded folks around your skill range doing the same, competing. Stewarding via the protest system works well *enough*. Only downsides here are the $$$, and the lack of Linux support ;) .
Really fun driving all the different types of cars all over the world
Oval racer here. Good game with a bad playerbase. The draft physics are too lenient so you can catch up within a lap if you are 1.5 seconds behind someone on a mile+ track. This will be abused by players that go into a corner and dump you. I like this game but literally 5 races in a row (so far) today I led the most laps and was dumped or attempted to be dumped in the final 10th of the race.
There needs to be more severe consequences for collision than safety rating.
iRacing isn’t great for casual gamers because of the expense with the subscription fees and the extra costs for cars and tracks. It’s also really hard to get into, since the game’s so focused on realism that it can feel like you’re constantly messing up. Plus, the graphics are good, but it feels kind of plain compared to other racing games that have cooler environments and can make it more immersive.
car go vroom vroom and is very real to life
much car. very real. fun.
Great learning experience for new racers like me.
You can reasonably feed a small suburb for a month in my country for what it costs to buy the content needed if you plan to maintain any sort of relevance iRacing.
most realistic sim youll get its basically Assetto Corsa with gamemodes LOL
I hate the fact that when you pay a subscription through steam it will NOT let you play for 24 hours after it was paid. Has anyone else had this problem?
Ignoring the purchasing model, this game is just consistently causing pain
- Cars love oversteering, its worse than forza
- You can't PRACTICE in PRACTICE SESSIONS without getting punished with your rating for mistakes
- Driving slightly backwards on the track in qualifying where YOURE THE ONLY PERSON ON THE TRACK will immediately disqualify you from the actual race with penalties
- The leagues with "free content" (aka included in the subscription and not bought additionally $13-15 per item) are plagued with people who constantly cause massive incidents
- You being somehow involved in a crash, even if you are not the cause and had no way to dodge, e.g. someone not braking in a U turn crashing right into you full speed, will still give you a massive punishment in safety rating and theres nothing you can do about it
- You are forced to use your legal name in-game, they used the name in my billing address, you also can't hide it to stream the game
- Graphics are extremely outdated by now, other games like AC and LMU make this look like it comes from stone age. This also means that VR doesn't feel immersive at all because of how bad the game looks
To sum this game up you're constantly getting punished no matter what you do
Its cheaper than real race I think?
The BEST true racing simulator. Hands down!
Ridiculous pricing model and Steam doesn't properly track hours due to (I assume) some desync with their launcher. One of those games where you end up paying hundreds of dollars to play a video game against people who think every race is make or break. As soon as you're out of Rookie class you best expect to be shelling out cold hard cash for almost every car and map going forward. Subscription + macrotransactions is next level greedy
its good but costs too much
the best sim on nowdays, but this is very competitive, so if youre used to need for speed or other arcade game, go to assetto (ac 1) before buying this. it'll be easier to get used to realistic handling of a car.
dont buy this game on steam its always an issue trying to update its so annoying
race time baby lots of goofs bump n lower levels but just start in pit till you move up
To say the business model is predatory would be a massive understatement but wow is it good
worst penalty system ever and that for a monthly paid game + the staff is really ridiculous unfair and everything besides logic choices !!
