This game is one of those examples where you can really have fun—whether you’re playing the story mode, going online, or diving into RP. Across all my accounts and platforms, I’ve clocked around 11,000 hours, and I can honestly say it was a blast. Right now, I’m especially into the RP component.

If I had to name one of the best games that exist or have ever existed, this one definitely wouldn’t be at the bottom of the list. Yes, it has its flaws, but they fade into the background once you realize all the advantages it has to offer.

Rockstar added a useless anticheat that breaks linux/proton compatibility with online play. singleplayer in this game is extremely boring so effectively they bricked the game for me.

Every time I launch this title I am required to sign in. This means I have to spend 10 minutes resetting my Rockstar password, which I always forget. Sick of it. None of my other games suffer from this problem, they just launch.

Its a good game but it is up itself. Every time it launches there is some issue. It wants to update the launcher and sign in or something equally pointless and boring. We are talking about a game that released over a decade ago. There is no reason for this hassle. Programs should just execute, simple as.

Also, signing in to Rockstar when you do have the password takes too long for my liking. Fix your server response time please. I shouldn't have to wait.

GTA V: The Game That’s Stayed Too Long at the Party

(Still Trying to Sell Shark Cards in 2025!)

          Review:
GTA V is a masterpiece that’s been part of gaming history for so long, it feels like a family heirloom. I’ve sunk 350+ hours on Steam and probably over 2000 hours on other consoles. And yes, I’ve bought the same game four times, but it was totally worth it—Rockstar should really send me a loyalty card at this point. It’s been 11+ years of chaos, heists, and me wondering, “Why is that guy shooting at me? I didn’t even do anything… this time.”

          Why I Loved It:

          • The open world is insane. From cruising the streets of Los Santos to hiking up Mount Chiliad, I’ve done it all—including driving my car off a cliff (on purpose), landing in a river, and somehow surviving. I once tried to parachute onto a moving train but instead splatted onto a billboard for life insurance. 10/10 would recommend.
          • Heists are pure adrenaline. Planning a mission, yelling at friends, and somehow blaming everyone else when it all goes wrongchef’s kiss.
          • I’ve spent more time customizing cars in Los Santos Customs than I’ve spent changing the oil in my real car. Priorities.

          Why It’s Special:
GTA has always been around. It’s not just a game; it’s part of gaming culture. It’s something special that’s been with me since my childhood, starting with GTA Vice City. I’ve loved every game in the series, and I’m so glad Rockstar left the heavy water-tank cars of GTA 4 behind.

As much as I love GTA V, it’s time to pass the torch. The hype for GTA 6 is unreal, and I’m confident it’ll be the next big thing. It’s time to get your crime empires ready—because when GTA 6 drops, the chaos begins all over again.

Why It’s Time for GTA 6:

          1. GTA V is so old, I feel like Trevor should be collecting a retirement check—and at this point, his beard probably looks like it’s been through an M-lab explosion.
          2. Updates can only carry a game so far. Rockstar, we’re ready!
          3. [*] After 11+ years, even the NPCs look tired of me stealing their cars.

          Final Thoughts:
GTA V will always have a special place in my heart. It’s the game that kept me entertained for over a decade, gave me endless memories, and made me laugh more times than I can count. But now, it’s time for the next chapter. Rockstar, bring on GTA 6—we’re ready for the chaos.

Rating: 9/10"A game so good, it’s outlived three of my consoles and maybe even my patience."

I liked this game until the battleye launcher, it just never made the game launch after, I get why they added it so people don't cheat but some people can't even play it (me included), was very fun until it stopped working, waste of money.

After 5000 hours of gameplay maybe it's time to write a review :) Great game, met some amazing people online, a few very disturbed ones, and way too many annoying modders. The big updates are probably a thing of the past, but after 10+ years it's still amazing that Rockstar keeps it alive with new missions and QoL updates. I still find myself coming back every now and then and enjoy the game.

Some say GTA games are the best city destruction sims, but I play them because of the story. I did cosplay Rampage a couple of times though, and I confess I did some funny things to the corpses (in the game), but the rest of the time, I behaved like a decent citizen. The fifth GTA game was the most story-rich for me and the only game I completed more than once. Also I would like to thank this game for contributing to my music playlist, the radio here is just good.

This game seems to have a 30% chance of crashing every black screen, and it’s not even my PC. I run 240 in the game. Also, half my heists don’t give me money because of cloud errors. AND LAST BUT NOT LEAST, PLEASE LISTEN! This game has so many bugs and little places you can get stuck on; if you alt-tab too fast on Windowed, your game eventually freezes for a few minutes, randomly, you get animation locked, your Kasatka randomly spawns on land, your Oppressor can randomly kill you. AND LAST OF ALL! THE MAN TRAP IN THE DIAMOND CASINO HEIST IS REAL! and so so so much more. This game is entertaining, don't get me wrong, but Rockstar, please fix it 🥺

I'm kinda late to the party, but I assumed it was a good thing because after almost a decade all the bugs should be patched right?

          No.

I stumbled across massive amount of bugs and sometimes they even made the game completely unplayable (I'm talking about story-mode here!). I had to search for solutions online and was surprised to find that majority of the bugs were around for years now. Rockstar just doesn't care about single-player modes anymore because they get much more profit from online mode. That's why the online mode is completely bloated with agressive monetization. This is completely unjustified for a game which is top 2 all time best seller.

Let alone not being able to play story mode offline. This is partially justified considering how much this game is being pirated, but considering that online mode economy is imbalanced and constantly pushing players into committing micro transactions and how much money Rockstar has made from this game throughout the years, this should be considered an anti-consumer practise.

their anti cheat should only take place on their servers and not constantly running on my pc

I think this game is very neat, and some form of anti-cheat was definitely needed for GTAO, but making a seemingly deliberate choice to exclude Steam Deck users, and by extension, all Linux users from playing is real garbage, to put it politely

Deliberately lying about Steam Deck lacking support for BattlEye is real garbage too, as Battleye has had opt-in support through Proton since late 2021, several years before this anti-cheat was implemented store.steampowered.com/news/group/4145017/view/3104663180636096966

Multiple developers have taken advantage, and Rockstar Games can do the same by contacting them, easy peasy

What's extra sad is that this anti-cheat has already been bypassed by many people, making it all for nothing it seems, yes.................. I'll update this review should things change, but for now I can't recommend this, unfortunately

For every positive thing I could say about the game there's maybe 3 things that make me absolutely livid. The controls are impenetrable and seem to change in every context imaginable. Taking cover seems to have a 50/50 chance of not helping. The game has a bad habit of not explaining a context control I've been given until the last second. Driving is obnoxious because the AI always tries to crash into you, and is sometimes doggid to that end. There's a lot of things that could be menu driven but aren't, and what is menu driven is so poorly designed that I usually save time googling for what I'm looking for rather than finding it myself.

The single player's fine, whatever. Game has a nasty habit of putting me in slow, clunky vehicles and then expecting me to outrun the cops. I had a box truck explode on me once after escaping into the hills. Story is average. The characters suck: they're universally either whiny or irrational. Everyone, Trevor included, comes across as weak and passive because they usually just agree to do things for random strangers, friends, and each other without much argument, context, or promise of benefit. At one point I had a day-long internet outage at my home and I couldn't do some of the single player content because it required an internet connection.

The online world is a deluge of icons and options with barely any direction, so I have no idea what missions would be suitable to my inexperienced butt. There's a good chance that any content I try to interact with in the overworld will either drag me into a situation where I can't adequately defend myself without telling me first or just not work. My friends dragged me into the Cayo Perico heist so I could accumulate enough money to get a reliable income and, no joke, it was an hour of me just dying at the first second of combat and just watching my friends try and fail while IRL tapping on my phone in boredom. I'm pretty sure I could have gotten the same amount of money spending all that time playing the Fleca job over and over again. For Christmas, Rockstar made it so the entirety of Los Santos is covered in snow. OK, so first of all way to break the immersion of living in the sunny deserts of SoCal. Second, the snowfall produces constant rainy weather conditions so traction and turbulence are supremely awful. Third, the game's challenges don't factor the snow in. I gave up entirely after trying and failing for an hour at one of the flight school missions simply because the constant turbulence meant I had 0 input into my plane's movements and would reliably crash. I gold-starred the damn Helicopter landing challenge, ffs, so I know it's not me.

I wanted to give this game a try in anticipation of GTA VI to see if I might like it, and I suppose I have my answer as a resounding "No."

The requirement that you create a separate Rockstar account is bad enough. But if you can no longer access the old account, you will not be able to play the game again. This despite having all other proofs that you in fact own the game. I do not recommend purchasing any Rockstar product. Their support process is extremely convoluted and shows a marked lack of respect for the customer. DO NOT BUY THIS GAME.

Story mode is good, online missions are also cool BUT online sessions are literaly UNPLAYABLE every single gta online lobby has ATLEAST in a server of 5 people ATLEAST if you get LUCKY ATLEAST 1-2 cheaters with god modes and ability to crash your game forcing you to restart your computer since the game locks you in and task manager window cant be opened meanwhile in a big lobby of 20 ATLEAST 2-4 cheaters will be present while usualy its half the server that uses cheats, the experience is just TERRIBLE its UNPLAYABLE and the game either has no anti cheat and moderation or very little but i doubt even that. Rockstar you have let us all down, all of us but actualy nice work since around 60% or more of online players use cheats you are not letting them down and allow them to ruin the game for normal player base, keep up the good work on letting those cheaters ruin the game. Rockstar let us down dont forget that.

The game is good but the launcher and DRM are annoying as hell, you can't just hit the launch button and play, neither you can be offline/ not have internet and play. This is like a whole lot of circus to just play a single darn game. I understand why young kids these days lean towards mobile gaming.

It feels like you are punishing the buyer for paying money. This the first game I ever bought and it certainly isn't very tasteful.

Good game, but definitely a love/hate relationship. Have owned it on PS3 since day one, then PS4 and then PC. Will probably have it on PS5 as well. Easily have 4000+ hrs on the game across all platforms. Online is fun with friends but a bit grindy, especially for new players. Still gets updates and the cheaters are finally mostly gone now.

Single player is polarizing because all support went to GTAO and that soured a lot of people, albeit modding single player is great. Even if T2 constantly makes it annoying to do so.

If you still don't own it, buy it. But wait for a sale.

slightly rampant with hackers and griefers, money isnt hard to get but for a beginner its not too friendly unless you have a friend.

The first few hours of the game are a great experience.

A city that looks very alive and there are many things to do. A very interesting story begins. Details are seen all over the game, from strip club to stock trading!

But I think firstly the game has unnecessarily long main story and there is not enough content and gameplay for such a long story. Even the game world does not have the capacity to be this long.

Secondly, since Trevor came into the game, apart from the fact that I felt very bad for this hateful character and did not want to play him. The problem was that the game turned into two verbs:
          Drive, kill
          Drive, kill
          Drive, kill

If you remove cutscenes from the game you will see how repetitive this game is.
Also, working for the FIB without any output made me very bored.

I think even though Rockstar released such a game in 2013 and it looks wonderful. But if you've played RDR2, you'll probably get bored of it pretty quickly.

I'm currently 55% through the story and I have no desire to continue!

GTA 5 is a life simulator set in Los Santos, where you can be anyone: a car thief, a gang manager, or even a guy watering the lawn after stealing the lawnmower. The story is so good that you occasionally remember it exists — somewhere between teaching Trevor not to punch strangers and convincing Michael not to blow all his money at the strip club.

And then there’s GTA Online… the circus. Any plans you had to deliver cargo are quickly destroyed by a 12-year-old on a flying motorbike, and instead of serious missions, you’ll spend hours picking the perfect pair of skinny jeans for your character. Playing with friends? Great! Now you can argue over who parked the car on the train tracks or try to push each other off a bridge.

GTA 5 isn’t just a game — it’s a place where chaos becomes an art form, and every failure is a masterpiece. Highly recommend for anyone who wants to feel like a boss in a world where bosses die from a stray soda can to the head.

Its been more than a decade now, but GTA V continues to be one of the most played titles to this day and remains as relevant as ever. It holds the record of most sold game of all time and continues to sell strong. GTA V continues the trend set forth by its predecessors of open-world sandbox games, and this iteration is the most expansive, detailed, interactive and immersive yet. We return to the sun soaked city of Los Santos, modeled after the real life city of Los Angeles, last seen in GTA: San Andreas some eight years prior. Not only can we explore this metropolis but a large part of San Andreas state as well, encompassing varied urban, desert, mountain, forest, and beach landscapes. This open world appears living and breathing, with day-night cycles, variable weather patterns, and pedestrians and vehicles appear to have dynamic behaviours. NPC's have distinct personalities and may be involved in various activities or conversations. Some might even be committing crimes or involved in high speed police chases.

In a departure from previous games in the series there are now three different protagonists that we can take control of and who's stories will intertwine as the game progresses. There's Franklin, a street thug who's generally reasonable and grounded, hoping to make something more of himself. Michael is a former bank robber who's now in witness protection and lives a life of luxury with his dysfunctional family. And finally there's Trevor, who can be described as a total psychopath bent on chaos and destruction. He engages in various crimes and has been trying to expand his criminal enterprise. Him and Michael have a lot of history. Each of them can be seamlessly selected and usually populate different parts of the state at most given times. As usual, the writing and dialogue are great and while the main story isn't necessarily the stuff of an academy award-winning narrative, it's engaging with enough twists to keep us captivated. Heists are an integral part of the story with many missions building up to a big score. It's definitely more over the top and lighthearted than GTA IV, and more hilarious in many ways. Some of the side missions are outrageous and there are more side quests and activities than ever before, there's always something to do or discover. As has become standard in this series', the game has its fair share of satire and pokes fun at modern-day society, capitalism, consumerism, corporate greed, and the fallacies of the American Dream.

Graphically GTA V took advantage of the newer hardware at the time and improved in just about every way with more detailed environments, realistic lighting and shadows, and enhanced textures. Animations are more fluid and character models look far more life-like. Even after 10 years, the visuals are still quite impressive. Vehicles seem more fun and easier to drive than previous, and have more authentic destruction physics. In fact the environment in general is far more destructive. In terms of sound, the voice acting is top notch, and enhances the character developments and interactions. The radio stations provide top tier music tracks of almost every genre, and the talk shows are hysterical and provide an exaggerated social commentary on a multitude of real-world issues. The stations have recurrent radio hosts like Laszlo and Maurice Chavez as well as a plethora of newcomers that we inevitably become accustomed to while on the road.

If one were to try to understand why this game is still going so strong, Rockstar's secret sauce, and cash cow, lies in GTA: Online. Multitudes of players can simultaneously enter the open world and buy properties, vehicles and weapons, customize their characters, join races, perform heists, create chaos, and build up their bank accounts with GTA currency. The possibilities are really endless. Rockstar has continued to support the game with new content and features. This is also most likely the reason we haven't seen a new entry to the series' for such a long time, there's just too much money to be made here. The PC version appears to have its fair share of hackers though, and it doesn't seem like Rockstar does a ton to stop it. This has ruined different online sessions more often than I want to admit.

Overall, despite its age, GTA V remains a force to be reckoned with. I can't describe the fun I've had teaming up with other players to complete heists and the nail biting moments trying to complete the Doomsday Heist without dying, while going for some of the game's more difficult achievements. It is the pinnacle of open world gaming, and I would argue that nothing else really comes close in this genre. With countless activities to engage with and the evolving and expansive world of GTA: Online, this game has seemingly endless replay value and will maintain its enduring popularity...at least until the highly anticipated GTA VI is finally released.

          Dear Rockstar Games,

I am beyond disappointed, frustrated, and outright furious with the convoluted mess that is your Rockstar Games Launcher. Playing GTA V through Steam feels like an obstacle course designed to test patience, not a premium gaming experience.

Every single time I want to play the game I paid good money for, I have to wrestle with your buggy, inconsistent launcher. Login errors, crashes, and inexplicable issues connecting to servers have become the norm. Why am I forced to use TWO layers of DRM? Steam is already sufficient. Why pile on your poorly optimized launcher that doesn’t even work half the time?

You are a company with the resources to make world-class games, yet you can't seem to deliver a functioning launcher. What’s worse is that these problems are well-documented, and yet here we are, years after GTA V’s release, and it’s still a dumpster fire. The Rockstar Launcher doesn’t add value to my gaming experience – it actively detracts from it!

To put it bluntly: this entire setup is a disgrace. Fix your launcher or give players the option to bypass it entirely when launching from Steam. The current state of affairs is unacceptable, and it feels like a slap in the face to your loyal fanbase.

If you think frustrating your customers with unnecessary, broken tools is a good long-term strategy, I’ve got news for you – it’s not. Get your act together before you alienate even more players.

          Furious and Exhausted,
