I really enjoyed my time with this. The price is more than fair with the time you can spend grinding out the achievements and gear. It's pretty easy to slip into a flow state with this too. The only real 'issue' is that there's only one set of enemies and boss. I would have liked to see how the devs handled putting together additional areas and enemies. All in all it's worthy of a quick $5 purchase if this style of game is your cup of tea.
I have to recommend this game because despite everything it is priced well and I had fun playing it. But I will say that this game is worth its price rather exactly. It is a game with a very solid base gameplay loop, it was fun but everything on top of that feels slightly off. Most of the unlocks are not satisfying to get and usually worse than what you already have. And the game is built on a combo system that does not fully mesh with actual gameplay. In a game where I want to go fast and use stylish abilities I feel as though the combo system is asking me to slowdown so I don't run out enemies and not use cool abilities because they have too much end lag. The game is very simple, and good in it's simplicity but also seems to do too much and too little. If I could leave a mixed review I would.
Highly recommend this game. A fast paced hack and slash run and gun endless horde slaughter feast. An absolute blast and challenging experience. Getting a combo is so satisfying and the getting the new gear really up the ability of Akane. A must buy.
Inspiring!
After playing a similar arcade style wave type game, I had to pick up Akane which offered brand new mechanics for my monkey brain. The 'think on your feet' strategy, the movement, the sword slashing, the ULTIMATE, everything about Akane fills my brain with dopamine as I see my combo meter go up and up. The gadget unlocks can be difficult but that comes with practice and skill. Oh and the music is neat to. I actually have the music on while playing the game rather than my personal playlist so it is a plus.
I do wonder if there are more bosses besides Katsuro since new mechanics that still fit within the game WOULD spice it up but it is okay. A Katsuro with increasing move sets is also fine and still adds challenge to the game.
I do have fun trying out new builds to make myself a stronger samurai slasher but overall, solid 8/10 from me. I do hope more things come in the future but who can I say? It is still fun to play.
Love it so much, its such a zonefest.
I have to say that even if the game is small, it is very fun.
I enjoyed my time during most of the gameplay. The only problem I see is how the challenges are planned throughout the whole game. There are some very complicated ones that don’t add up to a very positive point at the end, making it more frustrating.
Even with this, it makes a good point in creating a very good experience overall and being enjoyable.
good
It's quaint! But I'm not sure it's for me. The game is an arcade-style, top down hack-and-slash. And it's stylish at what it does, with a silly little cyberpunk aesthetic and simple, direct battle mechanics.
But it feels really shallow to me. The limited nature of the mechanics means there's not exactly a lot going on here; there is probably progression later, but it's clear the core is a Hotline Miami style, one-shot-kill type of combat, where it grades your performance at the end. There's a story and good art, but having it all be based on that gamey formula feels a bit limiting.
For the people who read everything I said and thought, "that actually sounds kinda neat," you'll probably like this. But if you see the slick art style and are tempted, just be forewarned that it might not exactly meet the standards you're hoping for. Inevitably, this is just fine.
This game is fast and fluid. The cyberpunk aesthetic along with the retro pixel design blends perfectly. I absolutely recommend taking this game a for spin, you won't be disappointed.
Bayonetta for Geometry Dash fans.
Great little game, in theory.
In practice, the conditions for unlocking are diabolical, which absolutely takes the fun out of it.
Still, give it a slash!

Akane
Has a total of 5 trading cards.
i like it
If this game let me move while I was shooting and didn't have a stamina bar it'd be an easy recommendation. It's so close to being good but ends up being infuriating in a way where the mechanics of the game and the type of the game it is are at odds with each other.
Nice little challenging game. Just as fun as something like Kill the Crows, but with a katana as the main weapon and several different guns that recharge faster based on katana kills.
Akane is a small but extremely well executed arena survival game. It does a very good job of providing a quick fix of action when you just have some minutes to kill (careful or you'll kill hours instead).
The loop of the game consists in fighting an endless horde of enemies, interrupted only by brief boss fights every 100 defeated enemies. Variety comes in the form of a couple different elite enemies, and a good variety of weapons and upgrades that have a meningful effect on playstyle.
The pace of the game is fast and the controls feel very good. You can slash, shoot and do some special moves. It's very satisfying to try to ramp up the combo numbers while juggling goons and elites.
After a death the game lets you restart with zero delay, which makes for a very seamless and pleasing experience overall. In terms of progression there are certain objectives to achieve to unlock weapons and equipment.
Muito bom para passar o tempo.
It's exactly what it looks like in the video and that's all it is - it's a fun and well-constructed arcade slasher. Short, simple, a nice aesthetic, and doesn't overstay it's welcome.
Short, simple arcade game. Enemies die in one hit, and you die in one hit. Has a surprising amount of ambiance considering the gameplay loop. Great soundtrack, too.
Cyberpunk one-hit kill sword fights.
Few games are as slick as this one (or let you earn the right to pick the colour of your cigarette smoke).
Make sure you play with a controller.
twas the first game i picked up when I got my switch... so yea when moving to the holy grail that is my Steam deck, had to pick it up again... And yea, i'm still shit at the game, but endless fun. Quick pick up and play job. so yea, get it,
fun arcade style game
7.5/10
Full-Fleshed brain-dead entertainment. I say it in a really good way, this kind of experience is really necessary for people like me. When you are tired because of work, college or whatever, and you want to play something that doesn´t require nothing more than pure reflexes and gives you an explosion of dopamine. That's what this game is, at least to me, and I could really appreciate it. It´s like a break for the brain when you want to play but you don´t have the mental energy to commit or engage yourself with a deep-story game.
Coolness factor: 11/10
Short, adrelanine filled, replayable game well worth its price. It could use it's mechanics and game loop to expand itself and add more variety in map, enemies and general challenge, because as it is, it runs out of new challenges quite fast but these are things well above the paycheck of the developer. I'll say that most will burn half a dozen hours before deciding that the game has given all it's got to them and that's well worth it's price.
Its hard, but its fast. You will die, a lot! But, you can restart quickly. The vibe of the game is unmatched, and I keep coming back to the game to experience the vibe. I can spend hours trying to advance, only to stop playing for weeks from how angry i've become from failing. But, I come back. I can't find this vibe anywhere else like it and it works perfectly.
Cigarettes and Katanas 10/10
Very addictive, but sometimes very frustrating :D
Great game
A wonderful game, simple but addicting. The music mostly slaps, the challenges can get a little repetitive, but I have returned again and again to spend a half hour or three to edge my max kills or max combo just that bit higher. I guess I play Akane mostly when steam is off-line or something because I am certain I have lost dozens of hours to this game, not even counting my time on the Switch version (mouse and keyboard is much better than gamepad for Akane, for a few reasons). Five bucks is an absolute steal. Also I FUCKING LOVE WOMEN
Cool game with a really stylish cyberpunk city and ambience.
The gameplay is fun for an hour or so before it gets kinda repetitive, my only complain is that some hitboxes are some of the hotest bullshit and connect in ways that can make you just wanna quit playing alltogether. But when you complete an objective of the game, it really does feel like an accomplishment.
Solid 6/10
Just excellent. Simple, effective and very addicting.

Slice 'n Dice 🗡️
Precise and deadly swordplay ✅
Agile and majestic movement ✅
An addictive gameplay loop ✅
Akane is an arcade game at its core, pushing players to try again and again, keeping them eager to beat their high score and surpass their own limits. Even though you’re essentially playing the same level repeatedly, the challenges, unlock system and super satisfying gameplay keep the experience fresh.
Become a deadly cyber-ninja, delivering swift death to your enemies in your final moments as you gracefully dance through the neon streets of Mega-Tokyo. Your fingers will cramp, your hands will ache, but that won't stop you from slicing 'n dicing.
Deceptively challenging. Solid game
Felky Fun Meter
|----------->-|| [11/10] Out of control fun!
Satisfying slashing, tight controls, good customisation options; everything on top of a banging soundtrack..
Wether played for 5mins to kill time or 5hours to unlock the achievements it was a blast :D
One of my favorite games of all times :3
REALLY BORING
Great game for the price
Just played 6min, but MC is kinda hot.
god I fucking suck at this
Hack and slash that so quickly to get back into, you will be spending a lot of time doing the same thing over and over again. This has become a want and a need for me. Because Ludic Studios have developed a beautiful and simplistic masterpeace - Akane - Rex wishes to destroy everyone and everything.
Setting:
one map - multiple enemies - a blood lust for improvement, a desire to work on challenges and gain new tools is pretty much what this game has to offer, it's a dopamine hit with difficulty scaling that is fair and welcomed The soundtrack immerses you in the neon night vibe of the map and is a banger for everyone who hears it.
Gameplay:
After killing the amount of enemies on the screen the boss appears, while his move set develops over the levels once he dies which can be achieved with two hits the game starts up the next wave and repeats. Do not underestimate the two hits. This can be really challenging.
Good and bad:
1. It is amazing how a simple game like this can have so much replay value, it's quick to load - so getting back into the fight is a breeze.
2.The challenges to unlock new weapons are difficult, resulting in a sense of achievement my family never gave me. The ability to slash, dodge, block and shoot, mixed with the special ability to destroy all that's on the screen made me feel superior, especially while maintaining my momentum and Concentration. The gameplay movement is solid resulting in a great time.
3.In all honesty this game can be a good time or a bad one. For the bigger waves can be hard and challenging. it's super amazing to just load up have a few tries and leave. A great time waster in a positive sense, i can turn of my brain and accept the dopamine it gives me, or turn on my brain and work on the challenges to get better things - with diversity in enemies types, like enemies that shoot, enemies that are tanky or cyborgs that slash you. There is always something new and challenging.
4.Let's address the elephant in the room. You will be doing the same thing over and over again.
Akane is a game that for me at least doesn't get boring but for others i can see that it might.
Conclusion:
At the end of the day, a game i can just sit and enjoy
With challenges that bring incentives to play.
Unlocks that make you want to keep going
And a soundtrack that is amazing. i give Akane
A rating of 8 out of ten. I am proud to have this in my library and will cherish it for years to come
Christ’s peace and love everyone , Happy gaming - God bless - Rex
This game scratches a specific itch, and it does it very well. I love the simple story and the overall vibe of the game. I recommend it, especially because it has a very fair price for what you get.
Decent game, only issue i have are not visible enemys attack at borders when they come,
Addicting
What's not to love about some cyberpunk massacre at the edge of a katana?
Great for killing time via handheld, but only for its price
