God dude... This really is one of the greatest games ever made. One of the finest remakes ever crafted. Game's a damn masterpiece. I've replayed this game so many damn times across numerous platforms, and it never gets old.

This was my first Resident Evil game that I played seriously—and I absolutely loved it. The atmosphere, the tension, the puzzles, the pacing... everything just clicked. Playing through both Leon and Claire's stories felt like a complete, satisfying ride. Hardcore mode was brutal, but very rewarding. Easily one of the best survival horror experiences I’ve had. Highly recommend.

Honestly, best survival horror game ive played. has literally everybody anything would want in this game genre. really indulging gameplay and the cutscenes are so good. extra game modes are great. there just seems to be so much excellent mini stories in one! the ways the characters are portrayed are so well done too! might be my new favorite game aside from RE 4 remake!

Great game with a lot of extra stuff to uncover in the main game and a lot of extra stories to play. Graphics are really good and the game in general is horror as a lot of zombies might scare the living shit out of you and ammo is scarce. 10/10 overall experience and i dont even play horror games

I would recommend going with mouse and keyboard even if you (like me) usually use a controller - it makes headshots a lot easier. Great modding community too, but a lot of mods will not work with the new Ray-Tracing graphics, so be sure to configure the version if you plan on using mods :] !

Yes, force players to solve 20 puzzles across a fuckin police station like its an escape room, but then have zombies that appear in rooms youve already cleared and make half of them Resurrect 5 times in a row... an annoying gameplay loop that i personally cannot immerse myself in.

Cons: It's very very short. 25 hours is both character campaigns at a leisurely pace.
Pros: It's awesome. It's scary. As far as zombie games go it's good looking and fresh.

The first 1-2 hours is a little frustrating, because of low amounts of ammo. But then it quickly becomes a very fun and rewarding experience. Many puzzles to solves, that reward you with meaningful upgrades, ammo or more clues to other puzzles.

Decent story. Minus points for the cliffhanger at the end.

Its alright but when you aim at a zombie 2 feet away u have to stand absolutely still for 2 seconds for your crosshair to squeeze together so u dont miss your point blank shot. and the one little chance you get to dodge an attack with a knife... meanwhile u can try and run around them but u will just stop a few feet away from them so they can jump on you, that and 5+ headshots to kill each zombie... otherwise i guess its alright. Seems kinda like there was some copy/pasting going on coming up with these levels but probably just a one and done type of game.

It's not perfect, but it's one of my favorite games. I love the RE lore.

initially was pretty terrifying, especially considering that i had a bad sense of resource management in games. so when i run out of ammo I felt powerless and was freaking out. the game makes u pretty paranoid and be very sensitive towards footsteps or the lack thereof

also had a lot of assumptions that made me do pretty stupid stuff, like often spamming headshots cause i thought it dealt more damage when its targeted towards the head and didn't know about the crosshair waiting thing .

one of my issues is that i wish the second run was more varied since it felt pretty samey for the most parts. i also encountered a problem with equipping weapons, wherein it doesn't display it and it kept being locked to a particular weapon even though i kept unequipping it. there was also some parts of the game where u cleared the room yet the music tries to make it seem like there is a threat, making it kind of meaningless.

game is pretty scary overall, but quickly becomes much less scary once u understand the behavior of the enemies and their weaknesses (this is not much of a complaint but just an observation)

Really enjoyed the game; I can see why these two characters are so beloved by the community. It took me 20 hours to play through both of them, and I still have a bit of gameplay to go, such as the NG+. Claire's gameplay isn't as smooth (unless you go ham with her grenade launcher, which I suggest), and Leon's story wasn't as compelling (good Lord, I hated Ada), but I highly recommend it.

Masterfully crafted remake, don't hesitate to buy this if you're thinking about it, the graphics, UI, interactions, voice acting, extra campaigns and main story (Just the whole game) are all amazing X 100. Can't recommend this more than enough.

I'm not as in love with this game as some other people are. Some people have suggested that this game is a perfect remake of RE2, and while I wish I could agree, I just don't. I do think that something from the original has been lost, and I do have some complaints about the gameplay, and how certain sections are handled, compared to the PS1 version. Regardless, it would be ridiculous to suggest that RE2 remake isn't a fantastic game. It oozes with atmosphere, and is still a joy to play through. I do not agree with everything it does, but the end result is still a great achievement.

I completed Resident Evil 2 on Hardcore on the very 1st attempt with Leon A & Claire B 2nd run

Re2 is Survival Horror at its finest. This game is most enjoyable when played at Hardcore with reduced brightness. The environment is dark, creepy and tense with Zombies crawling all over the place. With Leon the story was easier at start but progressively got much harder, while with Claire its pretty tense at start but much more easier as the story progress.

I really enjoyed playing as Claire as the story is much more satisfying.

The game really tests you on hardcore as the margin of error is minimum. You need a strategy to plan your routes properly. Small mistakes could result in difficulties later on but you can overcome them if you are resourceful as the game allows you to back track till the final act. Back tracking can be so tense and i was forced to come up with my own strategies to overcome hurdles like when i complete forgot the sub machine gun playing as Claire. it's a lot of fun kiting around zombies, dogs, lickers and Super Tyrant who keeps tracking you.

Overall the game truly defines the Survival horror genre in true spirit rather than the shoot em up style of Resident Evil 5/6 and the Hollywood style Action Horror that was Resident Evil 4

Resident Evil 2 is a perfect remake, full of impressive visuals, clever game design, sharp gunplay, combined with an effective plot while still remaining faithful to its older version, just amazed me. The expert use of sound design amplifies the terror to a whole new level which made it a profound horror experience I've had in recent times. Capcom has proven that even an aged classic can meet modern expectations, making this title one of the greatest remake ever made.

It might be the best game in the series after the RE4 remake. It maintains the spirit of the original game but improves it in every way. RE2 features some of the best character graphics I’ve seen in any game. Great enemies, satisfying shooting mechanics, and terrifying moments. A must-play for any fan of survival horror or Resident Evil.

The first ever Resident Evil game I played ever since playing Dead by Daylight which collaborated with RE franchise. It's the game that makes me want to play other Resident Evil games. My only complaint in this game is that you can't dodge or counter attack without knives, just accept getting bitten

Resident Evil 2 is a game that fully delivers on its Survival Horror genre.

The gamedesign is very classic: just like in other games of this type, you need to explore locations, find resources, and solve puzzles. Enemies are tough, ammo is always low, and the inventory space is very limited. Because of these restrictions, you constantly have to make choices — and that’s what makes the game so engaging.

To be honest, this series was never truly scary to me, but this part has Mr. X, and his presence adds a lot of tension to the gameplay. Until you understand how his AI works, you’ll want to avoid him as much as possible.

As a remake, the game does a great job of recreating the original experience while adding new story elements. There are still two campaigns — one for Leon and one for Claire. They are a bit different in structure and have their own stories, although most events happen in the same locations. The only thing I missed was stronger interaction between the two campaigns, like in the original, where one playthrough could affect the other.

Overall, this is a great example of the genre. If you’re okay with old-school game design, this game is definitely worth playing more than once.

Aaaand what a game.
This is by far the best RE game I've played so far, Capcom has put a lot of effort to make the story of Claire, Leon and Ada more clearer and connected to each other. This game is worth the money it charges, one flaw i had was a compared to RE3, it felt heavier and performance hungry.
Mr. X is a perfection and it was a perfect warm up for the Nemesis in RE3 who gave me more struggles than Mr. X. Still an iconic villain.
However I think most of the players can agree that Leon and Ada had such a good chemistry, but my man Leon has walked into the sunrise with a broken heart for a lifetime.

For the ending note, Capcom has showed us how Remake is made and they never failed so far 10/10.
I'm looking forward to playing RE4 Remake.

a very amazing experience, this game seems like it will never end, when you have finished the main storyline, you can still play in various modes to challenge yourself, and the extra levels make it even more exciting, this game will never be outdated

I actually beat this game on release, however after forgetting 90% of it, I decided to replay it.
I love the police station bit, thankfully it's where most of the game takes place, because UNFORTUNATELY I REALLY dislike what comes next. Even though it doesn't last as long, the next 2 areas are just not as fun, and that really sort of breaks the game for me. Still, it's one of the best games ever made for sure, and despite this one issue, I loved it.

Fun game i played with my girlfriend. It's basically a survivor horror with a bunch of super deep puzzles and mysteries in it. It's very immersive and the graphics look gorgeous.

The combat is very "side lined" in this game purposefully so since you should run/manoeuvre around zombies most of the time.The resources are scarce, zombies require like 6-8 headshots to die (except they get up soon after) and the aiming is very difficult so fighting zombies head on with your gun is almost never worth it. This janky and difficult combat is what simulates the terror that goes into the combat scenarios and it does it really well and makes the game feel more realistic.

The story was okay i guess. A few plot holes, some weird stuff that happen for not reason, and a bit of silly and cringe on the nose dialogue. I just didn't take it very seriously and enjoyed it for what it is so it wasn't that big of an issue.

Anyway, puzzle games like this arent usually my kind of thing but this was a great experience to have with my girlfriend and i did enjoy it a lot. I recommend it.

The game is intended to be played twice, once with each character.
It's more or less the same game, but just different enough to still be fun, I might have enjoyed the 2nd playthrough even more actually, as I already knew how to play the game then.

This is the best Resident Evil game to come out for a while, and one of my favorite survival horror games of all time. Amazing atmosphere and tension, very fun progression, some good puzzles, great gunplay, and an inventory system that's just the right amount of restrictive. If you're already an RE fan, or are looking to dip your toes into survival horror as a whole, do yourself a favor and play this game. Not only is it amazing on a first playthough, it also has great replay value with lots of cool extras to unlock from future playthroughs.

The original Resident Evil 2 is a widely beloved game, though comes just shy of being an unambiguously perfect masterpiece that everyone collectively agrees is amazing. Amongst the original trilogy of titles, they all tend to have ups and downs and favourites are a huge deal of preference. What people won't argue about though is that Resident Evil 2 is good.

Naturally, adapting something that has such a significant influence on the genre and Resident Evil series as a whole being the introduction of Claire and Leon is tough, and this game has had a thousand eyes watching carefully and nitpicking every aspect from the instant they revealed they were going over the shoulder. Years later the positive reception speaks for itself, but from my years-later perspective does it live up to the original? No. It's actually better.

This game, the RE2make's biggest hurdle is how it chose to adapt the original. Corny as they can be, many aspects of the early RE games including their presentation is a big deal for series fans and I think trying to modernize them walks a tight rope of removing the identity or actual strong aspects like the monstrous design of the G creatures and rich atmosphere of the police station. And insults where they're due, RE2make erodes the musical identity of original in a way that's extremely frustrating and the one thing that sticks out as an obvious downgrade. Outside of that, however? The areas are richly recreated with similar floor plans and aesthetics, yet expanded with greater puzzles, detail, and even new areas that make the trek around the police station an engaging and winding trip that really engages you. Later areas are more linear and less iconic but were still highly engaging to me as the combat was slowly but surely ramped up to it's logical conclusion towards the end.

There's not a lot to talk about with RE2's story. It's very similar, but just kind of better. All the voice actors do an excellent job, many little contrivances in the way certain characters or elements were presented in the original are improved (Chief Irons' role being a massive beneficiary of this) and characters are simultaneously more grounded while aligning better with their future incarnations in the case of Ada Wong or Claire Redfield. Leon and Claire especially only suffer from their really awkward 5 minute relationship they pretend is closer than it is, but otherwise are excellent protagonists in this game who blend a level of fearful response to the horrific situation they've been placed in with a jaded persona that creeps in towards the ends of their stories that really show you how Over This Shit they are by end.

RE2make's standout, however, is the mechanics. The eternal fear of adapting tank control, fixed-camera games to over the shoulder is that you risk ruining the defining enemy design and iconic encounters of the original. RE2make, however, gives deep thought to every last obstacle the player encounters and makes each of them a distinct type of terrifying to contend with. Regular zombies have adopted many of the qualities of crimsonheads, moving in highly unpredictable ways and constantly coming back to life at random moments in order to limit your navigation or go for surprise attacks, forcing you to weigh if you want to waste resources to keep them down or not. The dogs are much faster than the player and can move around the environment in unpredictable ways due to their smaller size you have to keep in mind. Lickers are brutally aggressive and demand situational awareness that makes their presence incredibly stressful. Mr. X has received a lot of complaints, and while I think he might be a bit too wasteful to fight in my opinion, he's still an insanely effective reinvention of the stalker enemy archetype that adds an unexpected variable even the most cynical survival horror veteran won't always be able to see coming.

The game also gives great reworks to many other of it's late game creatures including the G mutants, bosses, and plant-related freaks, but I'm not so inclined to comment on them especially if you're using this review to decide whether or not to buy the game. The other mechanical aspect I think it excels at is difficulty - variable enemy HP, limited inventory and some of the most deliberately sparse yet never unfair ammo distribution I've ever seen makes A and especially the B run a deeply engaging test of risk assessment and decision making many games aren't even comparable to. This game will give you grey hair at times and make you think you're softlocked into a situation you can't get out of, but there's always a way.

In the end, it's just all positive all the way down. The mechanics are genius, the world is gorgeous and well-realized, and the A and B run manage to differ in fun and significant ways that really play on the familiarity you think you'll have after your first run. Which is nice, because I honestly wouldn't have even minded playing basically the same game twice. It's a masterpiece, baby.

Leon runs way too slow and ammo is too scarce. Game has so much potential, but there's no reason why I should run out of ammo during a boss fight or have to spend several minutes walking from point A, to B, to C, back to A, etc.

This game is so good because when I m hungry at midnight, playing this game for 30 minutes can eliminate hunger. Detour in sewage and wiggle with the zombies, hearing juicy sound of headshot.

This game was very fun to play however it gave me a very high level of stress when i was trying to figure out how to escape from the police station when i was getting chased by not only the zombies but the bald ugly ♥♥♥♥♥♥ who was on my ass the whole time and even after i was done he still followed i hate him for ever and ever.

Good game. It removes parts from the original, it is still good but I hate censorship. if you want to play a modernised version of a game that was censored you can like how they force you to play with ugly jeans Claire Redfield cause they were scared of the backlash of having a cool character design that shows character. The Ada section is longer than the original with you having to use a damned spy gear for puzzles that are too basic to be in a zombie game.

Absolutely glorious. The game feels, looks, and runs great with minimal jank and tight controls. The campaigns/scenarios are just the right length. The inventory system is well done. You have enough storage to not die constantly as a new player, but not enough room to pack a whole arsenal. The crafting system is also all the more involved any crafting system needs to be. You get 3 resources and combine them for ammo for your preferred play style. Everything you find is useful. The movement and aiming is just right for building tension and is a welcomed refresh considering the OG RE2 tank controls.

There are also some very challenging extra content missions that are a blast to struggle through once you beat all the campaigns. It is a definite quality and density over quantity game.

As in Resident Evil 3, there is no possibility for melee combat. If you run out of ammunition, all you have left is your knife, which breaks immediately after one use. No chance to play through the game fluently. The first time you encounter several enemies in an area, you will most likely be dead. At least in Veteran mode. Since you don't know what to expect, you have to play the same situation over and over again until you have adjusted everything accordingly to get through a certain area, because: no melee combat. You get to an area where there are 4 zombies and you have 20 rounds left? Don't even try it. You can't push them away nor kick them. You're at their mercy. Even if you knock them down, they'll get up again after a short time. It's a total waste of time and it's a shame that the fun of the game is ruined by such trivialities. Another thing that annoys me is that you can't jump over ballustrades. And you have extremely little space to carry things at the beginning. In Resident Evil 4 these things have fortunately been fixed, which is really overwhelming compared to this game.

Definitely my favorite of the remasters, as I quite enjoy the old style Resident Evil games where you pick items up rather than buying or upgrading them (RE4). Graphics are amazing, though I prefer the old patch without the forced TAA, as it gets too blurry with it (and I don't want ray tracing anyway). Both sides' story are interesting enough to justify two playthroughs. I started with Leon, which is probably the "canon" way, and honestly the more interesting one. I didn't really care for Claire's side, and I wasn't enjoying the gameplay of having to escort the child around, but at least you get to see what Claire was doing while Leon did Leon things. Definitely worth a play if you enjoy the old RE-style gameplay, or if you're a fan of the story!

Having completed Resident Evil 2 Remake on PS4 when it first released in 2019, I found myself coming back for more on Steam. Yes, I had to repurchase it, but it was absolutely worth it. This is a game that perfectly blends the nostalgia of the original with modern advancements, and the result is a survival horror experience that stands as one of the best in recent years.

Let’s start with the pacing. It’s perfectly executed. The game balances exploration, puzzle-solving, and combat in a way that keeps you engaged from start to finish. The sense of dread is palpable, but the game never feels like it’s dragging. There’s always just enough tension to keep you on edge, but never so much that it feels overwhelming. When things do kick into high gear, the action ramps up without ever feeling forced, and the game knows exactly when to slow down and let you breathe before throwing you back into the fire.

simply an iconic game. Of course it's brutal but it's about solving puzzles and that's what counts. the story is unique and the graphics are wonderful.
