So at the time of writing this review, I have 176 hours in the game and I have 100% completed it, all the challenges and achievements (except Tofu Survivor, and it's challenges, that is NOT fun, screw that lmao).
All I gotta say is, I cannot get bored of this game. It's a single player, story driven horror game, and yet I can totally see myself reaching 1000+ hours in this game, I just love it so much. The base game is fantastic, and the challenges are fun and sometimes difficult. There's decent replayability too. And then I found mods, and omfg, it just gets better.
Basically, play this game. It's fun. Your first times playing will be scary and after that, you will be the one that is scaring the monsters. Play it
My gosh, i loved this game, honestly its my favorite video game of all time now! I recommend you guys play this! Its has amazing stories for each character, Terrifying Horror (i almost sh*t my pants actually lol), Great Characters, and overall everything is lovable about this game!
Amazing remake. Been playing it on and off since launch. still the best remake out of the bunch! only thing left to do is 100% the game.
Not just RE2, but all the RE games are so good that I have 100% them on console, and i spent the money to do so again on PC. REgarding this game (see what I did there?) I would rank this as a top 5 RE game, but I would rate this as the number 2 remake of all time. What's the best? RE4 remake obviously. The game looks and runs great, any modern system should be able to achieve 120fps on max settings no problem.
Some tips though if you want to 100% this game and do so under 20 hours, I would say your 1st playthrough as both Claire and Leon matter most for time management as the game will get tedious! Here's a compendious guide for QoL achievement hunting.
1st run as both Claire AND Leon, follow a YouTube guide on collectibles.
-Play on Standard if you're new, Hardcore if you want a tough challenge.
-Don't fight if you don't have to.
-You can use infinite ammo and bonus weapons for S rank even on Hardcore.

This game is one of my favorite in the Resident Evil series. It's got like 4-5 hours of gameplay and it's a lot of fun to replay.
You can run it at 60fps and use full graphics it's pretty sweet while playing the story progression is medium in my opinion ı'm on a laptop

Ngl RE2 instantly pulls you into the terrifying world of Raccoon city; the gruesome visuals and great sound design make you feel the sense of dread, and the gameplay keep you on edge. It is a must play from me for fans and new people
I never got to play the original game but I really enjoyed this game a lot and replayed it a couple of times. Highly Recommend especially if you want to get into this series.
I played the original game on a gamecube version and i thought it was great. When I read that it was being remade I knew I HAD to play it. This is SO SO much better than the original. I'm glad I went on this ride. Maybe you will too? That final boss was annoying AF though. Watch out now! Swoosh.
Absolutely fell in love with the Resident Evil franchise after playing this game. This was my first ever Resident Evil game and I love it so much. (I've just recently repurchased it on Steam as I played it originally on my relative's PS4.) Personally, I like just spamming the infinite rocket launcher and being a menace on all those who wronged me, especially you, William . . .

The remake game that I played for the first time. Very different from the original version. The atmosphere and the horror of the zombies are very tense. And zombies can't die with one bullet. Very realistic. Good job Capcom, I ask for help to remake other games besides Resident Evil. Maybe my suggestion is to remake the game Devil May Cry 3, because it's been my favorite game since I was little and lots of people like it. So don't hesitate to remake DMC. Thank You.
My introduction to the franchise. Have to say, it really hooked me to try the other parts as well. Got a lot of catching up to do though… But this game in itself is very good, just pretty short If you consider beating one run with whatever character as beating the entire game. Cuz gameplaywise that’s pretty much it. It’s not scary, really, but it can get tense and anxious. The main areas of the game stay almost the same on every run, but the change of perspective on the story dependent on the character, new weapons and a slightly different level progression make consequent runs not a pain in the ass. Overall worth the money.

i love solving puzzles and fighting zombies. great story and leon is hot
fun to play. i have no issues with it. great game. nothing i found i need to point out as negative. just done that last sentence in yoda speak by mistake. i have no complaints about game. I realy enjoy remakes of games i played as a kid. get the nostalgia factor but with good graphics etc etc.
loved it, great horror puzzle game, somewhat short but memorable, good starting point as an introduction into the RE series and its gameplay puzzle loops, interesting characters and setting. Must buy an instant classic coming from a player that never touched the original versions.
8/10 resident evil 2 is pretty dang good, a worthy title in the resident evil franchise, not as good as village or resident evil 7 but id highly recommend picking it up if its on sale

I know i'm late to the party, but hear me out, i really wanted to experience the remake as much as possible since my memory is totally trash, the original resident evil 2 from playstation 1 is one of my favorite games of all times, will always be the best action horror game ever made, and this remake while having some issues is by far the best remake i've ever played

Excellent story and graphics, loved it.
It's simple but engaging all the way through, offers genuine scares and heart-pounding suspense. The only weakness is repeating the story multiple times with very few changes but there are enough toys to play with to keep it fresh enough for a revisit at some point. There is also a stellar modding community that adds lots of interesting visual changes. :3

honestly this games is rlly good and it surprises me that the game length is only 2-4 hours and i came back and put in 55 hours love you capcom.
A masterful blend of horror, survival, and puzzle-solving. First play through on hardcore makes the game more intense with running out of ammo and more aggressive enemies. With different runs for each character, unlockable content, and the ability to optimize each run, the game offers incredible replayability.
I'm barely through the game and everytime that fuckass dude in the Fedora appears i shit my pants.
I was just trying to do shit in the library, finally putting the jack down and when I exited the animation he was right there... I YELPED like a dog that got its tail caught in a door.. its fucking midnight.. i think i woke up my roomates....

fun and scary! i've only played claire's campaign and i'm loving it so far, i wish they delved a little deeper into the protagonist's story and psyche, i'd love to know more about claire and what's excatly going on in her head besides: you a*hole! and what the f*! lol. also, mr.x-san gives me the creeps, which, since it's a horror game, it's a very good thing! i think it's a very good game to start if it's your first time playing any resident evil!!

This game is survival horror at its finest: stunning visuals, creepy sound design, and just enough ammo to keep you stressed. Zombies are terrifying, Mr. X is relentless, and the RPD feels like it’s out to get you.
It’s not the most replayable, but that first playthrough? Pure, sweaty-palmed perfection.

The original RE2 got me into RE so naturally I had to pick this one up. Capcom really did do it justice with this remake. It had everything I liked about the old RE2 and made it 3rd person. What I like the most as a fan of the original is that they didnt make it a "shooter" and kept the survival horror aspect!
I like their young-adulthood characters in this era of resident evil Leon, Claire, and Ada, and the rest of the story where the spread of the zombie apocalypse in Raccoon City is amazing, reminds me of The Walking Dead. I recommend this to anyone.

I played this with the praydog reframework VR mod with a Meta Quest 2, so although I may not have had the intended experience, I wanted to make it as immersive as possible and this mod succeeded. I highly recommend playing this way if you have the option to.
I'll go over what I like about the game itself without diving too deep into the VR aspect of my experience. The gameplay is simple, but easy to learn and fun to master. The atmosphere is great for a zombie game, the music is memorable and goes well with the locations/scenes, Leon and Claire are both great routes in general and the true ending is very, very good.
The best part of this game is undoubtedly the Tyrant, the unkillable, trenchcoat-wearing killing machine that stalks Leon and Claire throughout the game. His heavy footsteps can be heard through walls and ceilings making you always aware that he is hunting you down and he will never go away. That mechanic to me is the best part of this game. The constant fear that something that I literally cannot beat is always looking for me makes even safe rooms feel unsafe and forced me to always stay on my toes. I love this and I wish other games effectively utilized this mechanic more.
This is a very good game that is only elevated by playing it in VR where things are a lot bigger and a lot more immersive. For a horror game I think that is a must, but I imagine RE2: Remake is just as fun in flatscreen as well. If you like genuinely good and fun horror games, get this!

Great game! The stages, characters, gameplay, story, and graphics are fantastic. I've completed it multiple times in story mode, playing both Leon and Claire's campaigns. I even earned the platinum trophy by completing all the achievements. I highly recommend playing this game. 100/10
