Lost Artifacts: Golden Island is a mobile app that's been dumped on Steam as if it was a real PC game (it's not)... it's a cash grab from greedy mobile devs and Russian asset flip copy + paste shovelware game pushers at 8Floor. These guys have dumped reskins of the same games literally hundreds of times onto Steam, polluting the place and making gaming worse for everyone. And this mobile app of theirs is no exception.
Lost Artifacts: Golden Island is a pointless "12 Labours of Hercules" screen tapper/clicker mobile app. There's no gameplay, just tapping on the screen. The mobile app is made to look like you're making interesting decisions as you're presented with a map of a town/village/pathway that has you clicking on various things to collect things which are then consumed when you click on an obstacle, which unlocks more things to click on. This is so lame and shallow, you could write a script to randomly click the screen and given enough time, it would beat the game.
The shady developer behind this valueless shovelware has proven to be a persistent nuisance abusing Steam Direct... they've dumped over a hundred valueless mobile app tier asset flips onto Steam, many featuring plagiarised/stolen stock art and other unethical, shady behaviours.
The developer, Creobit/8Floor, has copy + pasted this particular game, with minor reskins, an insane THIRTY TWO TIMES onto Steam... why cash in on one asset if you can cash in on multiple copies of the same game? Asset flipping begins at home! Here's a list of 8Floors's copy + pastes of this asset:

These are all reskins of exactly the same game! What value is there in this spam/pollution glutting the Steam store for gamers? This valueless copy + paste garbage is taking up marketing space for genuine indie developers who are doing the right thing. It's harmful to the industry and to gamers.
From a technical perspective, as a mobile app, this doesn't meet basic minimum requirements that most PC gamers expect as standard.
There's no option to change the resolution and no useful graphics tweaks. There's no way to ensure this is running at the native resolution of your display. There's no guarantee this game will look right on any PC as a result of this hamfisted design decision.
The mobile app features simple, cartoony 2D graphics, of the type you normally expect to see in low effort mobile apps. 3D graphics programming does require a degree of skill and competence and unfortunately not all developers have the budget or talent to deliver this, despite 3D graphics cards hitting the mainstream in the 1990's. Considering this is being evaluated as a PC game, having the graphics phoned in like this isn't going to result in a high quality, visually impressive game that PC gamers are used to seeing.
The controls can't be customised because the game has such a dumbed down, simplified interface that it's just iPhone screen tapping stuff. The fact that the interface is this dumbed down might be seen as a problem in itself, however... this is a fairly shallow experience if you're the kind of gamer that likes to play games with deep, rich control schemes and interaction. You'll get none of that here.
Because this is a mobile app, it carries a number of deliberate design deficiencies. Compromises were made to cater to the iPhones that the mobile app was designed for. These are unfortunate handicaps and limitations that PC gamers shouldn't be forced to accept, but it's evident that PC was an afterthought for the iPhone developers who are to blame for this. The mobile app is deficient as a result of these choices, and would have been so much better without the handicaps that designing games for mobile phones forces upon a game. Once more, mobile devs have made gaming worse for everyone. I didn't spend thousands on building a gaming rig just so I could pretend it's an iPhone.
These technical defects push this mobile app below acceptable standards for any modern PC game.
The mobile app never really caught on with the millions of gamers on Steam, with a very low peak player count close to launch, and then just a handful of players launching this mobile app every couple of days. This is undoubtedly caused by factors such as those raised in this review. It's always helpful with buying decisions to consider how popular and successful the product is, and unfortunately while this did accumulate a few participation trophy reviews, overall, people just aren't using it.
Lost Artifacts: Golden Island has the greedy, cash grab price of around $5 USD, it's not worth it given the defects and shortcomings with the product, especially considering the sheer number of completely free, much higher quality games on Steam. For comparison, the $5 asking price for this game could get you games like "Mass Effect", "Euro Truck Simulator 2" or "Portal 2". Quality, professionally made games like those are frequently on sale cheaper than this.
Lost Artifacts: Golden Island is a basic time management game similar to 12 Labors of Hercules. The graphics are not that great, they okay. Music/sounds are just okay, nothing special. The levels are well balanced and challenging. I've played much better, but this will do for the time management itch.
Delightful game. Simple, enjoyable and relaxing. The levels are generally short, so it's a great game for short bursts of attention or time.
Fun puzzles, got a little too easy after awhile, but still an enjoyable, relaxing puzzle game.
Don't buy this game, it constantly crashes.
Great relaxing game! I love it! Excellent quality.
I've played almost all of the 12 Labours, Gnomes Garden and Rescue Team time management titles on steam and this is by far the worst game of the genre I have played.
Somehow the devs managed to create a sequel to Ancient Tribe Survival with worse graphics that will give you eyestrain and worse sound effects that will induce a headache in no time at all. Seriously, they added a beep/chime effect when you collect a recourse that I can only assume they managed to find in a Spectrum 48k sound archive.
While I liked the slight change in mechanic with resources and resource structures, compared the slightly bland but solid original this is a giant step backwards and that's not even factoring in the 300% higher price compared to the original.
Even if you are desperate for some more time management goodness, I would avoid this title.
played out in hard level in 5 hours. Game is good but a little easier than I am used to.
I like figuring out how to use the resources wisely but I wish there was a way to turn off the timer. I play games to wind down.
Completely generic and unmemorable. Barely a story. Incredibly easy; most of the levels have very generous time limits and few require any planning ahead. "Over 20 hours of exciting gameplay" is a straight-up lie; I 100%ed it in 5 hours, and even if you're unusually bad at time management games, I can't imagine it taking more than 10. (Also it wasn't particularly exciting.) An especially poor value at the regular $14.99 price, higher than most other time management games on Steam.
A great game to pick up now and again to play a few levels to just have some random fun.
Luckily, without any of those annoying 'beat the developer' achivements which only add an unnecessary feeling of competition to an otherwise really relaxing game.
Played over half the levels so far and didn't encounter any random bugs or anything of the sort.
Can recommend it for anyone who's into casual games like this one.
The usual time management game. On the short side, also pretty easy. Achievements work fine, easy 100 %.
Derivative but decent time management game. Only buy when on sale an if you like time management games.
Got it at -90% discount, and well at that price it's probably worth it, but still it has some really annoying issues. Why the hell do you make hard for player to check the costs of clearing items? There are popups but those have annoying delay. And What's even worse imo is that you can't check anything before game starts. So there's no real way to plan. And then you realize there's no restart button, not even return to main menu button.
Come on, sometimes I know I screw up getting 3 stars, why not let me restart??
I have played through the first couple of levels and have really been liking it. The time management side of it is really fun. Also I really enjoy the art style they used. The developers throw a little more at you every level making it a little bit harder every time. I would recommend playing! Check out the first couple of levels here: https://youtu.be/W7BEFjaAVoM
Good time mangement game. Has an ok story and an okay level of difficulties
