If you love board games, you'll love this game. The game by it's self is fun, but getting all the achievements add a whole other layer to the fun to be had. I'm glad they have an online mode as well. I would recommend this game to all my friends. It's stressful and relaxing at the same time. A game you can bank at least 25 hours in my opinion. The price is worth it especially if you get it on sale like I did.
This is 'Jones in The Fast Lane' reimagined, remade, redone, and reimproved. If you like the old Sierra game, then buy this, because they blew it out of the park; the only thing it doesn't have is a pawn shop. The Only thing. Also, many new improvements, and a much better AI for playing on your own.
just start it up one player, no time limit, marathon and figure out how it works and then you're good to go!
This game sucks, I thought I'd be able to play with the family but the time goes by too quickly. It's just NOT FUN and not worth the money
The game is fun, fun with friends or even solo against AI or even by yourself. I think that most part this game is replayable because of achievement count otherwise you would just invest 10 - 30 mins and would be done with it, unless you have friends to play with.
However, each turn game gives player random event cards and most of them are bad ones, but the worst one is crime wave, if player does not deposit his money in bank then he/she can loose all of it, does not even matter if you had 2k+ or more you will just loose all of it which is completely unfair. I wish there was option to disable these event cards.

Ok... so gonna say, I DID NOT LIKE IT! I was looking for a random chaotic party game of LIFE, where it would take all of us on a quick journey based on decisions and luck to laughter and fun. What this is, is a life simulator for turning 18 with defined ways to win. After you play it once, it's more like.. "Follow these steps to succeed.", which is boring AF.
THAT SAID... I gave it to a 9 and 12yr old and they thought it was the greatest doll-house simulator ever. Soo..... if you are a gamer, NO. If you like playing dress-up and dolls.. YES.

It's awesome. It's like The Game of Life but with more strategy, but then you mix that with the old flash game Stickman RPG.

The game is a spiritual successor to Jones in the Fast Lane and even though I appreciate the modernization of it, some things are done worse.
Here are my issues with the game:
- The locations you can visit on the map blend too much with locations you cannot visit.
- The background music is the same regardless of the location you enter (unlike Jones).
- Not enough sounds for different events in the game like when the turn ends or after the weekend (unlike Jones).
- There are WAY too many instances of you losing all your money. That's crazy!
- Missions affect the way you have to play the game which is not fun and you don't have the option to opt out of them.
- The economy in the game doesn't change and the hourly rate for each type of job is the same across locations.
- There is not enough time in the game to spend on stuff and enjoy them at your home.
- It would have been nice to visit more locations, even if just to relax (like the park)
- No need for large signs on top of some of the buildings (especially the giant TV). It might be amusing, but it's unrealistic.
- You cannot save your game for single player game.
The game is only recommended if sold at a discount.

This game is a bit confusing at first, but boils down to repeating patterns.
Almost every day you work, eat and pet your cat.
Every now and then you study for a promotion, pay your rent or invest money.
It's probably fun with others since there is some way to cause bad events for others.
I can't comment much on it though, because my only multiplayer experience was stomping some random online for the achievement.
From a completionist perspective, this game is doable, the only issue being the aforementioned "win an online match"-achievement.
I afk'd for one of the achievements which caused my playtime to become inflated by a bit.
I wrote this review from the perspective of having payed 20% of the games price.
Boring.
Just didn't have any fun at all.
The game doesn't guide you at any point when starting, went through a whole week (in game) not knowing how to make money, which is never told to you.
Then when you realise, there's just no time to make money and spend it. Debs have to be quite miserable in life if this is how their lives are.. :-/
Just worked all time, by the time I wanted to get some upgrade I and to pay the rent and spend it all.. Add to that that the daily events also pretty much always screw you up, there's no progress. There's no time to build the progress neither, because the game ends, if you have put a limit to it, but I don't see how long I could be doing this,, in a marathon mode, really..
Is there any variation to the game? different boards.. uff I don't even care, I just didn't find it fun, I'm refunding it.

Its an interesting life simulation with an amusing art aesthetic, but it doesn't really work as a board game. There is zero interaction between the players. It is just a race of who understands the game mechanics best, with nothing anybody does having any impact on any other player. And the game doesn't give enough information to make good decisions. If you want to make a purchase, there is a little happy face symbol, and a price, but no indication of how much happiness you're getting for your money. Is it supposed to be a guessing game? Is it supposed to be trial and error with memorization? Just tell me what I am getting for my purchase so I can learn to play the game correctly!
Apparently. I'm a workaholic who uses the bank religiously, forgets to feed myself, and neglects to make myself happy.
Easily my ultimate favorite party game, I've played hundreds of rounds with friends. The best thing though is it can be a cozy game to chill & play or super competitive depending on the settings, both solo or with friends.
Essentially a board game but instead of drawing cards or rolling dice you make life choices. The concept is fairly simple but the game is hilarious and complex. The devs have jokes within jokes worth your time playing to see them all. I can't recommend this one enough!
I . . . don't get it. At all.
I've played and enjoyed a lot of small time management life sims like Kudos, but this one is so brutally limited, and the information on options (purchases, time investments) is even more limited. The paths to success seem pretty narrow. It's a total miss with me, and seeing hundreds of positive reviews is baffling.

This game lacks content, I played this game with a group of friends, after playing all length modes it just became repetitive and boring.
I would skip this game unless its heavily discounted (and I am talking heavily...don't pay more than 2 bucks for this).
remember jones in the fast lane? this is its spiritual successor, and does a great job bringing that same feeling. just wished it had voice overs like the jones did...... congratulations, you got the job. ahhhh miss that. anyways its fun
Heavily inspired by the 90s game from Sierra "Jones in the Fast Lane" - and just as fun as that one was.
Race to be the best consumer/wage-slave. Gain happiness by buying stuff! Get an education to unlock better job opportunities. Work work work to stack up cash.
Simple to pick up and a lot of fun. Each game lasts about half an hour on the "Long" setting, great for a quick round of fun, or dangerous for "just one more game before bed."

Fun and colorful indie game. Amazing with friends. It plays like a board game where you all have your own stats and you compete for points. Every match there are slightly different goals for players to achieve. There are some random events too, which is nice.
However, most matches are very similar and there is not enough variety in terms of how to win. After you played 3-4 matches, you will be familiar with the quickest way to win and it will feel kinda repetetive.
For it's price it's a great deal. Possibly dozens of hours with friends and some good fun.
