Juno: New Origins is a 3D aerospace sandbox where players can use customizable parts to construct and test rockets, planes, cars, or anything they can imagine in an environment with realistic physics across land, sea, air, and space.
Take control of your own aerospace company and earn money and tech points as you progress through the game. Complete contracts to earn money, and discover a mixture of hand-crafted and procedural contracts that offer countless hours of new gameplay. Conquer milestones and explore landmarks to earn tech points and unlock new technology in the tech tree. Interactive tutorials are available to show how to build and operate rockets, cars, and airplanes.
Stretch and shape fuel tanks, wings, cargo bays, fairings, and nose cones with easy-to-use tools that help you create exactly what you want. Resize solar panels, landing gear, pistons, jet engines, etc to fit your needs. Paint your craft custom colors and tweak their reflectiveness, emissiveness, and texture styles.
Engines can be adjusted in a myriad of ways, such as changing the power cycle, combustion pressure, gimbal range, fuel type, and adjusting nozzle performance and visuals. You can customize an engine to be a power house for lift off, or to be a super optimized vacuum engine that maximizes Isp for interplanetary travel. The engine's performance affects its visuals in flight too as shown by the exhaust's expansion or contraction based on its interplay with the atmospheric pressure. Shock diamonds are pretty but they are a symptom of suboptimal engine performance! If you don't care about any of this, then you can just attach a pre-built engine and hit launch!
Easily drag and drop code blocks to program your crafts to log telemetry, automate them, design your own MFD touch screens, etc. With Vizzy, a programming language designed specifically for Juno: New Origins, you can expand the capabilities of your crafts while learning programming, maths, physics, etc.
Orbits are realistically simulated and support time-warp so you don't have to wait several months to reach another planet. The Map View makes it easy to see your orbits and plan future burns, which you can use to set up future encounters with other planets or satellites.
Using Planet Studio, an in-game design tool, you can make your own planets, stars, moons, and stellar systems, starting with a large set of templates and tools to easily make infinite unique procedural celestial bodies. For the more adventurous, Planet Studio has an advanced mode with many modifiers to add and tweak different noise layers, adjusting the terrain and the biomes, as well as a paintbrush tool to be able to achieve the most complex shapes.
Download from a huge collection of user-uploaded crafts, sandboxes, planets, and mods on . Upload your own crafts and sandboxes and share them with the community. Rise through the ranks from a white level builder to a gold level builder and beyond.

idk why but my capsule keeps flipping in the athomphere
Far, FAR better version of KSP imo. The procedural parts and better graphics make all the difference.
Pretty cool game if you're into aerospace engineering. It has surprisingly good graphics, and I've encountered very little bugs and the ones I have encountered were harmless. JNO for sure has it's issues, but its an amazing game, and is a sort of spiritual successor to KSP (we don't talk about KSP2.)
You can make anything you want wile inavating!
One truly understands what is when they see the Earth from spa... goddammit I didn't mean to stage!!!
I really enjoyed playing this game, and the user-friendly interface and intuitive tutorials really helped get me started.
I especially liked the automation feature which lets you code your craft to carry out tasks on its own.
If you can handle super slow update "schedule" then this game is kinda fun.
Have these devs ever heard of the phrase "Too many irons in the fire"? They're prioritising work on a different game.
rocket
manuever nodes are FUKING disgusting. get ready for some inneficient orbital insertions.
they made getting encounters super easy. but, whats the use for this if im going to get a HUUUGE periapsis making you burn through all your fuel just to get into an elliptical orbit. if you get lucky.
if you're wondering if the game is easy. it depends. if you're going to play the juno system. its easier. but if you like RSS... you should know that its going to be hard even to get into mars orbit.
This is crack
More of an arcade game than a simulator.
Pretty fun
better than ksp 10/10
What KSP 2 should have been!
i love it and i have playd sfs
it's like KSP, but they're not green
good game 👍
Great
It's like KSP, but I can change my solid fuel booster grain!
good
This is just a Great and Beatiful Game
cool
This is the KSP2 that we all wanted.
It is not KSP, it is its own thing. I find it little bit more clumsy, little bit easier, little bit more interesting due to the build manager being Tweakscale on steroids and yet somehow lacking. Sometimes it is more difficult to control, but it definitely can stand on its own.
If you come from KSP background, the tutorials are easy to understand, and you are going to wish we had those in KSP in early days. I obiously cannot judge how it feels when you come untouched, but I can imagine it can be overwhelming (especialy in sandbox) possibly even more than KSP, as it is less "lego-like".
I still prefer KSP, but this is going to stay alongside it, when I need a little bit fresh air or vacuum. I have couple more hours than Steam shows at the time of review as I played it at my friend for couple hours on top of my own time.
I like the game, and can recommend it, even though I admit, KSP will remain my first to go... This proudly keeps the silver medal though.
Best rocket game I have ever played.
If you want a space sandbox game, maybe you could get a below average experience here.
Firstly, the build system is completely designed for a few pros, if you are just an average player, nothing would be built by yourself but a combination of simply reshaped parts or simply refitted stock crafts, what you could do with the build system besides mentioned before is to download other players' engineering marvel which you would never match.
Secondly, the career would have an awful experience such as poor immersive, intentional designed malicious missions with extremely unreasonable demands...The career is entirely a clumsy mimic of KSP but learned nothing valuable.
Not recommended if you are an average player.
TL;DR This game isn't the KSP2 we never got, it's its own thing.
For anyone who enjoyed KSP and is looking for a proper successor, this isn't it. It's a good game but a much different experience, it's a lot more simulator than game. If that's all you're looking for then I would recommend it, but most people are coming from KSP. I really wanted to like this game but it lacks charm. The main menu is just the title with a play button. You don't get to see your space center after loading your save, you either build a craft or launch it and that's it. There is no tracking station, you can only see the map in-flight. The editor is just a solid color background and your craft. There's nothing wrong with the game, these aren't necessarily bad things. The physics works, the sound design is alright, the graphics are fine, the controls are good, but it just feels sterile. This game is better than KSP on the technical level, but falls short elsewhere.
Minor complaints:
- When flying you can't see or change your staging.
- You only see fuel per-stage, not per-engine.
- There is no key bind to go to 1x speed (though there is a pause button).
- In-atmosphere time warp is limited to 2x.
- The looping audio of the electric propeller is very obvious and annoying.
garbage asset flip
Don't buy. The game is either bugged or broken.
At times it can feel like drinking from a fire hydrant. Powerful but still refreshing. Really fun to test out different rockets and live out dreams of working for NASA
Very much recommend. Its up there with Kerbal Space Program in my opinion as one of the best spaceflight sims/sandboxes. There are quite a few differences though, which I'll go over.
Unlike KSP, Juno uses a fully procedural building style. Effectively all parts can be resized and/or reshaped to fit your specific needs (if you've played Simple Planes or used the Procedural Parts mod in KSP, you're familiar with this). Even engines have these options so they can be optimized for the environment they'll be used in. The solar system is about double the size of the one in KSP, which you'll immediately notice when trying to get into orbit as Droo is about 1275km in diameter (as opposed to Kerbin's 600km).
The maneuver system is quite nice (though you do have to unlock it about halfway down the tech tree) and I prefer it over KSP's. the little pull handles can have their sensitivity adjusted, and you can input specific delta-V values if the handles aren't precise enough. The game also has a few autopilot features ( similar to the Mechjeb mod for KSP), it can automatically perform maneuvers and even has an aircraft autopilot (though I've not used planes very much, let alone the aircraft autopilot). On top of that, for the especially nerdy among you, there's a scripting feature (again, similar to the kOS mod for KSP) where you can use blockly-style programming to automate your spacecraft!
The art direction is also very different from KSP, and I think it does lack some of the charm of KSP. Of course, because this isn't KSP, you don't have Kerbals, you have Droods, which are basically just astronauts. Aside from that, the vehicles typically look fairly minimalist, and the planets honestly look gorgeous! Especially with the Parallax mod installed (which is easy due to the built-in mod menu and folder). Meanwhile KSP stock certainly looks like a game from 2013, and with mods to make it look nice takes forever to load.
On the topic of mods, both have easily accessible ways of heavily modifying the game, but Juno doesn't have all that many mods, only a couple pages on the official repository.
If you're thinking of buying this game, but have no grasp of how orbital mechanics work, I recommend playing KSP first. The game is still super silly and fun and the planetary system and sandbox are more forgiving than JNO, it'll be easier for you to learn this way. Once you've figured things out, though, I do feel like Juno is a great game to play if you get tired of KSP and vice-versa.
Better version of KSP. Much better. With programming and career that makes sense.
one of the best game ever especially if you have the device that can handle it
Love this game but the missions are really dumb, you can't attach anything to payloads, and when you have explosives that means any small change of direction in flying results in a mid air explosion. You can attempt to jerry-rig a way to get the explosive to get stuck to a wall, but regardless there is still a chance it decides to spaghettifi and blow up randomly. What really sucks is these missions are literally progression missions, you HAVE to do them yet there is not guidance in game on how to do it properly, and none of the stock vehicles are even capable of helping. Really frustrating that the missions are designed this way.
Missions aside this game is amazing, I would argue its even better then its competitors, but blocking launching sites behind impossible missions is really frustrating.
Progression isn't very fun and the methods of maneuvering the craft are a bit cumbersome.
good game
this is the best game ever its better then sfs to be honest
Like KSP (the OG first), but without the unnecessary Kerbal-related lore.
Much smaller disk space without losing any gameplay aspects.
Rocket/airplane designer is much more focused and the controls are way more intuitive.
If you just want to build/fly rockets without bells and whistles, this is definitely the way to go. 👍
It Is GOOD!
way to hard to get to orbit i recomend ksp
room for improvement
Pretty cool stuff... will have to get into this game again.
Totally went off my radar for some reason and I am impressed
what became of this title with the latest updates.
Nice moves keep it up.
juno > ksp unmodded
Note: during this review I refer to the title as it's current name "Juno" even during time frames when simple rockets would be more appropriate. For those new it's un-needed and adds nothing to the points made. For those already aware...your already aware
2nd Note: any comment with "ksp" refers to ksp1. For KSP2 I say KSP2(it gets special treatment for being a "special" child) For the IP as a whole I say Kerbal
It's decent. Think KSP without the funny. If your familiar with ksp most will be familiar with a few tweeks. Stock juno is arguably a better game than a stock ksp. However, be aware mod support for juno is no where near what it is for ksp.....by orders of magnitude. Which makes that comparison irrelevant, since a modded ksp can be a better game than even a fully modded juno. Also unlike squad, juno devs haven't been, and aren't focused on juno. Which means dev involvement is largely non-existent, current bug list is likely permanent, and don't expect new content, dlc or x-pac
As far as bugs, there are a few a couple that could impact play seriously. For the most part they won't impact you, but like ksp when they hit a cheap monitor and/or mouse you can throw works wonders. However ksp has it's own bugs different ones but comparing the pending lists is like saying potatoe or potaaaato. pick yer poisen takes yer chances. Both are done actually fixing anything outside of mods.
Sound I actually like junos better along with it's stock skybox. both of those are subjective however your mileage will vary and I don't care.
As far as graphics the only pet peave I really have is junos water when it's dark...drives me nuggen futz
If you liked the "atmosphere" the green dudes gave your play in ksp your not gonna be impressed with juno's doods. They are about as forgettable as it's possible to be while still existing. I've seen balance spreadsheets with more personality.
Junos design tab is somewhat less user friendly than the ksp vab or hanger. but once learned both are equal in benefits and frustrations. However in junos system you don't have to jump back and forth depending on if your making a boom boom or a zoom zoom.
The one major difference is visso, vizzo, vazzooo?......it starts with a V. a fairly stupid programming for kids language. if anyone reading this is a mecjeb user in ksp your gonna need to learn it and use it, or start doing the math on your own. There is no equivalent mod to my knowledge.
/shrugs if you have ksp and enjoy it....you probably won't get anything out of juno unless you only play ksp stock. If your new to the space launch genre I would recommend ksp, it is more approachable, has better tutorials, and is more transparent in how progression flows in career. If your bored of ksp, juno's your best bet it's the closest to a feature complete launch game. If your looking for a modern, feature complete, new engine example...nothing like that exists yet and starting to look like it never will. Juno's the next best thing after ksp1
__________________________________________________________________________
Following is a rant about the genre as a whole. feel free to skip. you can leave a comment about it if you wish agreeing or not even calling me names...I won't read it but you do you.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I'll be honest when T2 announced KSP2 going early access I was surprised the Juno devs didn't start churning out content preparing for the coming opportunity. Nothing says emergency like a AAA publisher going EAccess. It's the main reason I got it(juno), I figured only a moron wouldn't see the golden opportunity about to drop and juno would bottle the lightning. They were almost in the perfect position at the time. I was even more surprised they did nothing when KSP2 inevitably imploded. So I'm not just blowing smoke when I say whats done is all there is and all there will ever be. They have shown that even under near perfect conditions they aren't interested. Don't see that changing now that the opportunity is largely passed, along with the reward.
T2 all but crucified the Kerbal IP so don't look for anything from them(or whoever they sucker selling the rights too) but the total market for this genre is so small and ksp1 takes such a big chunk of it while also having excellent mod support it sucks all the oxygen out from anyone else taking a big risk. Juno had an opportunity to jump in, but they had better things to do apparently. So for those looking for a successor to ksp....probably won't happen in the next decade ...or two. Nobody going the EACCESS route is gonna have the shear mod support ksp enjoys which means they will always play second fiddle in drawing a player base big enough to feed a major step forward for the genre. It would take a triple a entity to push out something that AT LAUNCH has as many features, content, quality of life improvements that a fully modded ksp does. I don't see anyone throwing down that kinda cash for a market this small....sorry. Now if for some reason ksp1 ever implodes then the potential exists, but failing that? the genre is now stagnant.
Now maybe if harvester and some of the crew purchased the rights and hired SM as the lead play tester, maybe we'd see something within the next decade. Simply because those two names could un f*** the brand damage kerbal took almost passively. No one else has the PR chops to do it easily or quickly. The above scenario would have better tailwinds under a publisher with capital or a golden angel. Under EAccess...still a big maybe. That mod and feature deficit would still be a big barrier to market share for an EA title. But that scenario is the only way I see the genre advancing to any degree within the next decade. But that is likely only possible in my dreams.
The sad fact is the survival genre of hit a tree get a log pick up a rock make something to hit a bigger tree get a different log, hit a boulder get more rocks. makes some other BS hit more trees, hit different boulders to get different rocks, carry gods own suitcase in your back back...because that is what you do in a survival situation, all while being a master mechanic, architect, magic user if applicable in your BS world, electrician if applicable in your BS world. blade master, sailing master, and map maker, and all around good guy .....is likely to prove more innovative(eventually) than the spaces build/launch genre will likely remain for some time. The survival genres shear size means eventually someone other than a moron will design one. There be money thar. Not a whole lotta money in launch systems simulations. The next big thing aint coming...not anytime soon anyway.
Great game, KSP 2 but better
Game's trash, liquid rockets do not work, not even sure why anyone plays this broke game and why there are no reviews as to why they don't work. Watched some boring idiot on youtube setup his rocket, built a one to one copy still didn't work. He must've used cheats or something, I hope Steam can refund this trash
I'm going to try for a refund
This is currently my favourite space-craft sim game. I love the degree of freedom it gives you and how it anchors that freedom to a reasonable level with its realistic physics.
Nice
Way too soon for EA Has some nice features wait for 80% OFF SALE
Great game if you like to get into the weeds with engineering. It's a pretty steep learning curve but the fact that everything is procedural and that you can even create programs makes this an engineers dream. It doesn't quite have the charm or low barrier to entry as KSP but I'd totally recommend to any fellow big nerds out there.
Havent actually played for 300 hours but this game is finomenal
