Super good and very useful but the export to beamng makes the car look 1000x worse and uglier.
its super fun and the fact that you can export and drive around your can in beamNG drive is amazing, would recommend
Very realistic and versatile. A little hard to learn, but with near limitless possibilities. Also very accurate warnings.
After spending 6 hours in Automation: The Car Company Tycoon Game, I can confidently say that it's an incredibly fun and unique experience at first. The ability to create your own cars, from the engine design to the body style, is a creative playground for anyone who enjoys tinkering with cars. For the first few hours, I was fully immersed in designing and refining vehicles, experimenting with different engine types, and seeing how various performance specs affected the final product. The level of detail that goes into customizing cars is impressive, and I found myself enjoying the challenge of making a car that was both high-performing and cost-efficient.
The interface is easy to use once you get the hang of it, and the game provides a lot of freedom in terms of the types of cars you can design. From family sedans to high-performance sports cars, the possibilities are endless. I loved the process of engineering everything from the ground up, testing my creations, and making improvements based on performance data. The game does a great job of allowing you to feel like you're truly running a car company, with market demands and competition to consider.
However, after the initial excitement of building and testing cars, Automation starts to feel repetitive fairly quickly. Once you’ve designed a few cars, the novelty begins to wear off. The early stages are fun as you figure out the game’s mechanics, but after a while, the core loop of designing cars, managing costs, and testing can feel a bit monotonous. As much as I enjoyed the freedom of design, the gameplay becomes a cycle of tweaking and adjusting, which doesn't change much as you progress. There’s only so many times I could go through the motions of adjusting car designs or reworking engines before it started to feel like a grind.
Another factor that makes it hard to stay engaged for long periods is the lack of variety in gameplay outside of the design aspect. Once you’ve created a few cars, there isn’t much else to do except refine your designs, run more tests, or tackle the financial side of running a car company. There’s no real excitement outside of the design aspect, so the game starts to feel like you’re just going through the motions. As you unlock more features, the game can become overwhelming with the sheer amount of options available, but at the same time, the core gameplay doesn’t evolve in a way that keeps the experience fresh.
The game’s graphics, while not groundbreaking, are decent for what it offers. The car models look good, and the customization options are detailed enough to make the designs feel unique. However, the lack of visual progression or deeper gameplay mechanics does hinder the experience once you get past the novelty of creating your first few cars.
That said, Automation is not a bad game, but it does require a specific mindset to fully enjoy. If you love car design and enjoy the nitty-gritty details of building a vehicle from scratch, there’s a lot of fun to be had. However, for me, after six hours, I found myself losing interest. The repetition and lack of deeper gameplay progression made the experience feel like a bit of a slog as I got further into it.
Overall, Automation is a great game for those who are passionate about cars and enjoy detailed simulations, but if you’re looking for a more dynamic or varied gameplay experience, it may start to feel tedious after a while. It's fun for a time, but the lack of meaningful progression and the repetitive nature of the gameplay can make it hard to stay hooked for the long haul.
7/10.
The amount of accurate feeling engineering is astounding. If they can ever get the simulation to work, this will be the full package. For now, the car building is incredible.
Can't stop playing the base game is good but having mods make it way better i don't play career just the car designer for BeamNG and I have made hundreds of cars in the last few months
This game might be hard at first, but once you get the conrods of it, you'll be really good and be able to fkex to your friends that you have this game. I would also recommend the W16 engines. To use the DLC, you will have to use the V60 engine variant. Hope this helps
This game takes maybe 10~ hours, a couple of mods and some tutorials/youtube gameplays to understand. If you're into cars and have BeamNG.Drive with you, i really recommend you playing it. There are a lot of talented people who play this game for hundreds of hours including myself to help you in official Discord server if you don't know where to start. You can also post your creations there to get opinions about your design, and maybe some praises.
Automation modding community might be small but it's active and important to this game, they made multiple custom bodies, modular parts, paint materials, fascia and interior parts for you to choose from the workshop and implement into your dream car (i recommend modding this game instantly and downloading all mods, there should be list somewhere that makes you able to do that with one click).
The updates take VERY long to develop because of how small the Camshaft Software team is. Right now as im writing this, they recently showcased their great progress on a custom top-down track simulation creator for the next "Al Rima" update, which also should come with long awaited Superchargers and Twincharging (YES IT TOOK THEM MULTIPLE YEARS TO IMPLEMENT THEM EVEN AFTER TURBOCHARGER UPDATE).
BeamNG's decision to partner with Automation was the best thing that could've ever happened to this game, the ability to drive cars that you made yourself without major programming makes this game 10x more worth buying.
Also, fun facts about this game you didn't know below!
- Technically you can't have electric engine for your car, but you can type "!ev!" command into your car trim description in order to turn it into electric car by exporting it into BeamNG.Drive. There's also tutorial on youtube for that.
- Rotary engines will be never implemented due to how inefficient they are.
- Every once in a while, Camshaft developers host design competitions with themes and requirements you need to follow. The more suitable for road, well designed and original your car is, the higher are chances for winning against competition.
- Furries absolutely dominate this game (i might as well turn into one because of them), they're so good and they can literally make their fursonas in game using 3D shapes by stretching and enlarging them.
Honestly? This game to me at first looked like a complete waste of money but thanks to GrogTV I found it to be very entertaining. I sadly can't install mods but to me the game, the of automation is a lot more raw without them. Like a real car manufacturer, you are limited the parts you have available to you. The campaign is a bit rough around the edges but very well laid out. Overall if you want to make cars for fun this the game for you! But do be aware that sometimes not everything will export when you press that magic button

game is super fun and would recommend to any car nerd
but also I have no clue how to build a car, god save me
If you want this game to play the campaign it's not worth it. The time goes by too quick for it to be really enjoyable, and it's buggy as heck managing your factories. I have had a playthrough fail because of bugs rather than any decisions I made. The campaign needs a lot of work.
Very good game, i enjoy making stupid cars and engines to import to BeamNG

Game crashed 50 times but fun
I got really good at tuning engines and really bad at running a business
Really fun game, but I would make sure you have BeamNG before getting this game so you can have your monstrosities come to life.
I absolutely love this game.
I can't really speak on the campaign, but the vehicle customization is something else. You can change, tweak, modify, and morph just about everything on the vehicle.
You can choose from many different types of engines, and customize it from the ground up. Choose suspension parts and what type of ride you want. You can add turbo, and fine tune it. There is a notification hub that will let you know when something isn't working right, so it can get a bit finicky at times but it's fun regardless.
You have a huge catalog of body styles to choose from ranging from the early 1940's to the 2010's. Things like sedans, coupes, vans, trucks, etc. are all at your disposal to customize to your liking.
The body morphing is pretty in depth, though I do think it could benefit from a tool that allows players to morph the body more precisely. As of right now, you can only tweak predetermined parts of the cars. But don't let that deter you, because you can still modify a large portion of the vehicles to your liking.
Once you get your car shaped, you can start adding fixtures to your vehicle. You can add things like headlights, taillights, mirrors, wings, lips, diffusers, scoops, mufflers.. You get the idea. Much like the body, you can also resize and move them to get your car exactly how you want it.
In addition to the massive list of body styles and parts you can choose from, there's also a workshop for the game as well. I'm not entirely sure how active it is yet, but I was able to finds loads of things I wanted on there. I'm actually pretty sure I've downloaded them all besides a couple honestly. They're all great and have the made the game even better than it already is.
The coolest part though, is if you also own BeamNG, you can export your car over to that and really give it a test drive.
All in all, I'd give this an 8/10. The only gripe I have is that it desperately needs a tool to be able to morph precise parts of the body. Kinda like a "landscaping" tool or something along those lines.
Anyway, highly recommend if you love cars and love designing your own vehicles.
It is a very nice game to play, especially if you are a car enthusiast. You can built anything from sleeper and shit boxes to ridiculous powerful cars. And of course, I, also, recommend to get BeamNG Drive so you can actually drive what you've created.
Want to redesign Porsche 550? You can take the specs (gear ratios, wheel dimensions, engine piston width etc.) almost 1:1 and reapply them here. I'm not a car expert, so take my words with a pinch of salt.
The devs who created this seem to be more car enthusiasts too than they are game developers. The game itself does not feel like it should be a game, rather than a literal simulator. Thus why it's very much of an enthusiast pick, and a decent one. But don't buy it for "fun", you'll be disappointed. The Tycoon part kinda sucks, bit soulless.
really good game to let your creativity out to build cars and engine. game DEV keeps the game updated and new features are coming along soon, would recommend this game for sure especially if your already enjoying beamNG they pair along really good !
Very fun time killer. Has a few bugs here and there but it is early access so thats to be expected.
If you like Excel and Cars. The Campaign is just for you! Otherwise it's a pretty neat car builder for all the BeamNG Enthusiasts on here. The price is pretty high, but you get a lot for it, also supporting the small dev team is a bonus imo.
The game really goes into a lot of detail when it comes to designing and building your car design.
Great game for people who love cars and car design. Totally worth the money. The game is best used to build cars and export them to beam.ng to drive. The only downside to this game is that the campaign sucks, but that doesnt matter because you can spend countless hours designing and testing vehicles without getting bored. I have pages and pages of different cars that I have designed. Other than that, the game is continuously being updated with the big aspiration one coming up soon so definitely worth the buy.
Awesome game Fun and interesting engine/car making
Second of all the graphics are beautiful to make good wallpapers
Lovely game, each little dev update keeps me waiting for the release. Paired with Assetto Corsa or Beamng.Drive to actually use your cars is perfect.
Awesome game, bought it just as basically DLC for BeamNG when the crossover update came but I've followed it since its inception because it's really cool to be able to design a car from the ground up.
It gets quite frequent and cool updates so it's definitely worth the small price it costs.
I spent way too much time (almost 500 hours at the time of writing) making my cars for the automation forums/competitions or just in general lol. It's basically blender lite but instead you can design cars and engines. It's really great and there isn't that many games that are similar to this one, I'd would definitely recommend this game even at full price just to the sheer fact that you can actually drive your cars that you made in automation in beamng. That and the workshop support that just adds more stuff you can do in the game. - 11/10 IGN it truly has a little something for everyone.
This game is addicting. I have spent many hours trying to build useful, good looking cars just to scrap the project and try again. Devs are constantly adding new features. I sometime wish I could buy it a second time to support them.
Game of the year 2024 in my opinion.
Fun and interesting engine/car making. (Works well with BeamNG aswell)
Second of all the graphics are beautiful to make good wallpapers or pictures.
Even if you don't like cars buy this game during a sale. It makes you calm down if needed (unless you try making replicas of real cars)
And that is all for now.
Thanks for reading and wish you all the best.
(Waiting for achievements.)
one the surface level its a damn good game for the price and its really cool you can just port or mod your creations to BeamNG... But its got its limitations with slightly realistic engines and really glitchy fixtures for the car bodes, for how old the game is its a but disappointing in the engine designing department, not being able to paint most blocks, no design variant for the timing cover or timing system, sump and a very minimal amount for some of the valve covers BUT OH THE BOLTS... YAHHH MATE GIVE ME THOSE COLORED VALVE COVER BOLTS!!! just a bunch of little thing that make the game a bit more disappointing the more time you spend designing things in the game (if your mechanically inclined) i noticed you cant actually make a body on frame truck like a f150 or any 90s suv its all unibody with very little variation. i know this game supports mods but it would be appreciated to see a bit more detail in the the engine design department PLEASE!
game is fun to make a car in and export to bmgdrive for more fun
Great game! Does take some getting use to. Coupled with BeamNG there's nothing better!
Best tycoon game ever.
I love the company simulator aspect, paired with realistic engine and car designer!
I have been waiting for YEARS to own a pc so i can get this game. It didnt fail the hype, and the hype was immense!
Overall you can be very creative and have a lot of fun testing and tuning our cars.
The game is unmatched in terms of customisation options. The gameplay itself is very pleasant and relaxing but making good cars requires some experience. The game is demanding if you want to render your creations with RT and good graphics.
10/10 i dont have a life now.
Great game by far! Its hard at the start but once you play it a lot, you will get a lot better at it.
Fantastic game to build cars for export into BeamNG, I've played over 200 hours and never touched the campaign.
make car. make engine. engine go vroom. export car to beamng. make car go vroom vroom.
good game, solid 9/10 needs a bit of polishing but it's an early access so whatever.
I've played this game for many hours, its got to be one of my favourites. The only problem is that updates are very slow and community ideas are not always looked into, though the workshop is normally enough to keep you entertained.
Good Passionate Devs and a Very Fun car game for anyone interested, pair with Beam.ng for a truly unique experience.
Great game, combos well with Beam NG Drive. However the campaign is hard as there is no official tutorial.
So fucking good i love building engines not selling them its hard to export to asseto corsa but do able
It is a great game, with a lot of different functions each that are very fun and strategic
very fun to make cars and exporting them to beam.ng
i liked making cars in this game. i will give a 10 out of 10. it was hard at first
please know this game is great, but also greatly detail oriented. if you seek arcade play speed, this isnt it.
Very cool to be able to see the engine and car as you modify or add things to them. I'm glad they have a pause button for the campaign.
If you love designing cars you'll love think game, However the game still has a few flaws like the fact engine placements are fixed and you can't customize the frame/ chassis to fit some of the bodies from the workshop (unless there's a way and I've yet to find it cause im still learning all the controls)
Also being able to drive your creations from this game in Beam.NG to me is the greatest thing ever
This is an incredible engineering-level sandbox vehicle production game, where you can plan and produce engines and vehicles, changing details all the way down to the materials your engine and components are made of, bore and stroke, etc. You can make goofy designs and see how they work (or watch them fail with tons of graphs to explain) or try to recreate the engine in your car or anything else you can imagine. There are a bunch of people complaining it's difficult to use, or the campaign is hard to understand- if you're getting into a game like this understand that it's an investment. The dev has given a ton of tutorial videos available in the game and the internet is full of other gearhead nerds that have figured stuff out. If you're not afraid of jumping into something a bit unintuitive to create cool stuff and play around in an engineering sandbox, pick it up! You can also export your creations to BeamNG and test them in a soft-body physics simulation (though the conversion isn't perfect).
