This is a great game except for one thing. I've played it on my desktop pc for a while now and thought it would be a good game to also play on my surface pro. But alas, you cannot play the game on a touchscreen, as there is no way of flagging bombs. I thought a long press would do the trick, but no. Please add touch screen support!

Recently picked the game up again, and it doesn't count my scores. I tried avoiding the auto-solve function (left+right click), tried just left clicking, tried avoid flagging and was left with a solved stage that doenst counted. Don't know, kinda bad.

Edit: I tried downloading it again to verify that it wasn't just because I had issues with the game version. This time it did count my scores, but didn't let me move to the next stage. The lock didn't disappear. Might be just my issue, but this frustrated me enough for now. Sorry bad review stays. Maybe trying it later again idk.

A complete recreation of minesweeper. Comes with some creature comforts like auto solving proved tiles or no guessing boards should you want them. The atmosphere is also really cool, it reminds me of games like Myst or the chill parts of Legends of Grimrock.

I love the visuals. This game would be perfect if it had a "top down" option like the original minesweeper rather than JUST the angled view. Also left clicking to move the camera is annoying to me.

It's hard to find a game where you don't have to spend the first hour without playing, because of character editing, role playing, backstory, tutorials, multiple tools at the starting, and that also entertains you for hours. And it's a classic game too, that manages to get more interesting even if it was just by the environiment. I thought the tight corridors were a dumb way to make it difficult, but it actually thaught me to solve it better. GG. Now please put the other levels.

        Tilesweeper

...is a logic puzzle game. Remove all the tiles from the level, one by one, flagging and avoiding those armed with a bomb.

        Game Description & Mechanics

As any clone of Minesweeper, you're presented with a tile board, here represented by a dungeon, balcony or other location. The objective of the game is to either correctly flag every tile armed with a mine, or clear out all the tiles that aren't - either will result in a success, just as long as no mine is detonated.

Since the board is using a square grid, each tile can have up to 8 surrounding tiles. Whenever a tile is cleared, it will indicate the exact quantity of tiles around it that are armed with a mine. As an example: if your tile says "1" and there are 2 tiles remaining around it, one of the two has a mine. You must use logic and observe all the surrounding data to determine which one it is and clear the ones that aren't.

For each tile, your options are to clear it (causing the mine to explode if there was any), put a red flag on it (marking it as a mined tile and preventing accidental clearing of the tile) or a question-mark flag (no effect, a mere optional marker tool you may want to use when unsure of some tiles).

        What I enjoyed

This game is a perfect clone of the Minesweeper game that many of us have had on our computers for decades as part of Windows. While I cannot speak for the exactitude of the algorithm under the hood, the game works exactly like the original, down to the color of the numeral indicators. But you aren't limited to square and rectangular boards: the game includes a series of boards, each more complex than the previous one, completely shaking up the strategy.

If you're going to clone such an iconic game, you might as well do it with style, and the devs did so with gorgeous 3D environments. Each level is a beautiful set of medieval balconies, gardens, walkways, underground dungeons, and catacombs, with appropriate echoing sounds, ambient lighting and depth. Each tile you clear crumbles into pieces that fall down and pile up further below. The slow, somber and peaceful music adds magnificently to the atmosphere.

There's a lot of replayability, as each tile board being offered with increasing difficulty levels as well as the option of both "solvable" or regular fully-random mine placement.

        What bothered me

Unless you are using the "Solvable" option mentioned above, the game can get extremely frustrating, and you may replay dozens, perhaps hundreds of times certain levels at high difficulty before ever succeeding once. So-called Minesweeper "experts" must understand that levels will have twists and turns and corners that completely alter the usual strategies, and narrow corridors and catwalks 3 or 4 tiles-wide will regularly create a wall of mines, forcing you taking a gamble at a random tile more often than I'm used to in order to continue.

The beautiful setting comes at a cost: decor objects can get in the way of properly seeing the tiles, forcing you to reposition the camera frequently. Clearable tiles and decorative objects and columns can look similar, making it easy to miss tiles in certain environments. The breakable tiles will often have pieces lingering on top of the numeral indicator (as these are considered solid objects by the engine), making it hard to see the actual number for those that don't instinctively recognize the indicator's color.

Tilesweeper was designed with additional levels and themes to be made available, either as free updates or as DLCs. This could've meant new levels with forests, urban or sci-fi themes, but this never came to be. Don't get me wrong: it's a complete game, fully functional and bug-free from my experience, so I'm not calling it abandoned, but I would've loved to see something other than medieval/fantasy castles.

My Verdict: ★★★☆☆ - "It's up to you."

While I'm only giving it an average score for the average gamer, the Minesweeper aficionado in me wants to give it a lot more. It is the single best Minesweeper clone out there (and I've played oh so many of them), allowing purists to get the exact same gameplay as the original game, while still offering variety. An absolute must-buy for anyone who enjoys the genre.

I've played this game for about an hour, and while there are more levels to go I feel I have the measure of the product.
The game is at its heart a basic minesweeper game. The conceit is that it is really beautiful, and it is, but is this enough?
Well, it is enough to get it recommended, the core mechanism works pretty well, though sometimes you have to click more than once to get the game to accept the input. It has all the traditional bells and whistles, for example if you place the cursor on a space whose number has been revealed and double click it opens adjoining spaces that are no longer in doubt. It also has a solvable mode, not sure why there is anything else.
There is nothing really extra though, nothing that takes the minesweeper game that extra step, there is no creativity, in a game design sense.
There is real creativity in the aesthetic though. the levels are gorgeous. The only mode available right now is inside of a castle, and it looks great! There seems to be a promise of more however, and there seems to be no real interest on the side of the designer to keep this promise.
There is also the occasional issue of the art obscuring the game-board, a cardinal sin, given that people are paying for a game, not the pictures. Sometimes when you zoom in statues and stuff with vanish, but not always. The controls suggest that you can tilt the camera, but I never got this to work. In addition, when you open a square, pieces of the floor shatter, and once in awhile land on top of the number making it a bit hard to read.
The bottom line however, is this works. There are certainly better minesweeper games out there, though I feel it would be tacky to suggest them here, but if, like me, you simply enjoy minesweeper, this isn't a bad addition to your library.
One, less than enthusiastic, thumb up. I may come back and change this if the developer offers up more background styles...

edit: if you try to do hard difficulty without solvable mode it's becoming really frustrating on later levels as you will need to blindly guess around 5-15 times to just get further in level and the chanses are...

It is hard to be too critical of this as it does what it does well enough. It is a nicer looking version of Minesweeper. I could stop there but I have to point out this is one of those games that 10 hours playing it (which is what it took to get to the easy 39/60 achievements) feels like 100 in a more compulsive game. Most of the remaining achievements are for "grinds" - the worst is to break 1 million tiles. In 10 hours I have broken 25k. Sheesh.

Still, we all loved Minesweeper. This is just....more. And more.

But now the developer has implemented "Solvable" mode and it works perfectly.

I was surprised seeing a successor to the legendary Minesweeper and felt strong nostalgia about whole thing.

If you`re hardcore sweeper fan and want to refresh your memories , this game is certainly for you. Thou it has a little flaws with randomness at the endgame , so you can`t predict it certainly, the smoothness of replay and overall feeling of the game is compensating for this at most.

Personally , i`ve enjoyed the graphics and calm , chilling soundtrack. Props to guys for this. Would reccomend to all my buds this game. Awesome !

And it's 9x9 I wonder what's gonna happen with bigger map. I'm thinking that the broken tiles are lagging somewhere downside where they're dropping, they have to disappear, feels like too many entities By the way i can run and play easily GTA 5 and ARK survival evolved.

Minesweeper had only one major flaw: it often came down to a 50/50 guess in the final move. This is a key issue that must be addressed by any true successor to the game. Unfortunately, Tilesweeper tries to address it, but not only falls short but makes it even worse.

Tilesweeper attempts to solve the late-game guessing problem by allowing you to win by flagging all mines, essentially letting you guess wrong at the end without it being fatal. This is a great and needed addition to the game, and if left at that it would be well worth the $5 price tag and more, even without all the aesthetic improvements. However, while Tilesweeper does remove end game guessing, it adds it all throughout the beginning and middle of the game itself.

Due to the irregular layout of the boards, random guess moves become normal routine. This is acceptable in Easy and Average modes where you have a reasonable chance of a cascading move that will open up new logical moves, but it becomes quite ridiculous in Hard mode where there are so many mines crammed into tiny corridors and corners that most games will be logically unsolvable without an absolutely absurd amount of successful guesses. We're talking multiple guess moves a minute with a ~20% or greater chance of the tile being mined. That is not an exaggeration.

I have been playing Minesweeper for about 20 years now and was excited to see Tilesweeper pop up in my discovery queue. I really wanted to like this, but it's just not the same. Minesweeper was a game of skill, where Tilesweeper - at least in the upper levels of Hard mode - is a game of pure chance. If you are a Minesweeper fan, I cannot recommend this one. If what you liked about Minesweeper was the end-game guessing game, then I recommend you buy 5 scratch off tickets instead.

Tilesweeper, or as the Germans would say, Fliesenfeger Bombe geht Boom, is a pretty straightforward interpretation of the classic game you may remember from Windows 3.1 and on, giving bored office workers something to do for years and years. Sadly, Minesweeper was no longer included after Windows 7, so its about time someone gave it a face lift.

What a makeover it is! I can honestly say its the best looking Minesweeper ever, with graphics so real it feels like you could just reach right out and touch them. I admit that on more than one occasion, I did just that, only to have the illusion of a lovely torch-lit castle shattered as my hand came in contact with my cold, lifeless television, leaving me retreating to my chair to continue playing Tilesweeper through tear stained eyes.

I just realized something though. I've been going on, as I do, assuming everyone knows about Minesweeper. There are undoubtedly many youth of today that never got to see Minesweeper in its heyday. So let us briefly explain the core concepts and ideology of this game.

You start with a field. In Minesweeper, it was always an XY grid, rectangular, rectilinear, all those rect things. Tilesweeper mixes it up by placing that grid in a castle, with rooms and hallways, still keeping the grid, but really bringing a whole new style to it.

This is where we really have to talk about the luck/skill balance here, because it is frankly the frustrating bit about Minesweeper style games. Each tile on the grid, when exposed, reveals a number that indicates how many mines are in direct proximity to it. When you have some tiles exposed, you can calculate where the mines are, but in a new, blank field, you have to click rather blindly to get started. It is possible to lose on your first click.

That also brings me to the most frustrating part of Tilesweeper, because due to the layouts of the boards, you will inevitably find areas where logic fails, and you have to take a leap of faith to move on. I get that just goes with the Minesweeper territory, but here, on large maps with many winding pathways, you have too many points where you hold your breath and guess. That can become discouraging, but then again, it is a Minesweeper style game, so I can‘t complain about it, just note that luck plays a pretty heavy part on large, convoluted maps.

In the end, Tilesweeper, is a really lovely update to the Minesweeper genre, and totally worth the price. Just know that your calculations will only get you so far, and that often, it just comes down to guesswork. But then again, that‘s just like life, and I've certainly spent more then five bucks on that.
