making this review while crying cause of how good the story is, i am genuinely feeling anger, sadness, and joy all at once?!?! HELLO. the gameplay and the decision did not joke abt every decision you make will have an outcome 10/10 for MEEEEE
Probably worse in whole series.
game play is very clumsy as if a child was coding the game.
the story is ok, not best.
tasks as so boring that you barely force yourself to proceed.
PS Choices in this game mean nothing!
I love this game. It was amazing and well worth playing through, but my god, the ending put me through an absolute rollercoaster of emotion that ended with me smiling with the purest of joy.
10/10. Screw my emotions.
honestly i thought that you couldn't have shit in the walking dead but i was lowkey suprised 11/10 would play again 28 (28 stab wounds joke haha) times rip to all the goats😭
One of the best game series ever made and has best ending now my favourite game series is walking dead.......................
The final season of Telltales The Walking dead is a fantastic sendoff to an amazing series. The companions you meet along the way are varied and extremely likeable and even the villains are interesting and have their own twisted morals and ideals. The game expertly shifts between slow character building moments and high paced action. The final episode had me a bit worried, thinking it would just be a throwback to the first game. But the developers pulled it off: an amazing arc focusing on the relationship between Clem and AJ, but with an undertone that is completely different from that in the first season between Lee and Clem. Where that game focused more on care and letting go, this game goes further into territory of parenting and morals, with a very poignant conclusion that really drives the message home.
There are moments of lesser quality, and sometimes characters do some illogical stuff for the sake of a "better" narrative, but these all fade when the credits roll by. Sadly, this is also a bittersweet experience: the team were making such great steps in the evolution of the Telltale formula and finally seemed to be growing towards a new and improved direction, only for this game to have been their last. I am super glad that Skybound allowed them to finish the game, but it does feel jarring to suddenly see another studio name on the final episode. Every part of this game embodies a team that is going out with a bang, pulling out all the stops and trying to give us that magical Telltale experience one last time.
I am grateful to everybody who worked on this, and hope that the way they changed story-based games will live on in future projects.
This is a masterpiece of an ending to this series and I love all of these games and they will forever be in my heart as some of my favorite games of all time. This game closes this series perfectly and is the best walking dead game when it comes to gameplay.
Played from season 1 and this season is so amazing. Cant find a game like this and ending was brutal. Hoping for season 5
100/10
What a great end, to an amazing series.
I loved every single thing about this game, what I loved most about it, was you got a little more freedom in the game, compared to the other installments. I liked the aspect of collectibles, and I loved the different decisions you can make. I really enjoyed the story on this one, and I think they wrapped it up very beautifully. I can't believe this is the end, it's very bittersweet. I loved the flashbacks of the other games, and think it was beautifully written. Well done.
A Heartfelt Farewell to Clementine’s Journey
The Walking Dead: The Final Season is more than just a game—it’s a deeply emotional and satisfying conclusion to Clementine's story. From the intense decisions to the heartfelt moments with AJ, the game kept me fully invested.
The narrative was beautifully crafted, tying up loose ends while exploring themes of survival, family, and the legacy we leave behind. Clementine's evolution into a mentor for AJ felt natural and impactful, as my choices shaped the person he became.
The visuals and atmosphere were top-notch, with the cel-shaded art style bringing out both the brutality and beauty of the world. Every scene was enhanced by the stellar voice acting and haunting soundtrack.
The gameplay improvements, like dynamic camera angles and combat tweaks, added depth without losing the core focus on storytelling and choices. Speaking of choices, the weight of my decisions lingered long after the credits rolled.
This final chapter left me in tears, but it also left me grateful. It’s a fitting end to a legendary series that will stick with me for years.
Rating: 10/10 – Thank you, Clem.
Peak Fiction!
The game was fun to play, but most decisions just don't matter like every other Season because it still leads to the same ending. Perfect Ending to the series!! Visually appealing, great story.
This is a very, very good end to this series.
If you liked the first season, you will very likely enjoy this last season as well!
How you feel about season 2 and/or season 3 doesn't really matter here in my opinion.
Clementine has come full circle: she is now around 15 years old, and a mentor to little AJ - just as Lee was a mentor to her when this series started. But the relationship between her and AJ is NOT the same as her relationship was with Lee - it's more complex and challenging!
The season is very emotional, well written, with good characters, hard choices to make, great themes and solid character arcs.
The graphics, animation and action have been improved.
Is Clementine one of the best characters in video games?
If you ask me, I'd say she is THE best!
In case any of the developers of the game happen to be reading this: Thank me for playing? Well ... thank YOU for creating this dark, beautiful, heartbreaking journey for us to go on!
Good game if you make the right choices. I got through this game in 10 hours. There are only 4 episodes in this game, each episode is designed for +-2 hours. The game is very interesting and in some places the person who plays it worries for the main character Clementine. I passed this game not the worst, but not the best - I lost Ten.
Love this! played the 1st two and was really excited to start this one. The story's great and I am so grateful for the constant auto save because some situations are really hard to get through without dying few times.
Replayed this game during Christmas and cried.
Overall 7/10 but mainly for the story and Clementine.
É um jogo que fecha bem a historia da Clementine, com relações e momentos que fazem você se apegar com os personagens secundários
The Walking Dead: The Final Season is like that bittersweet last slice of pizza — it’s exactly what you need, but you’re sad it’s over. As the concluding chapter of Telltale's iconic series, it does justice to the franchise while finally giving players some closure. And let's be honest: after Clementine's endless parade of bad luck, she deserves a break.
Right from the start, the game hooks you with its emotional storytelling, throwing Clementine and her surrogate son, AJ, into a fresh batch of trouble. The setting — a boarding school for abandoned kids — might sound like the beginning of a cheesy teen drama, but it works surprisingly well. The new characters are likable (or hateable in that perfect Walking Dead way), and the school itself feels like a sanctuary worth fighting for.
Gameplay-wise, the series shakes things up with a few tweaks, including more dynamic combat and a freer camera. Don’t worry, it’s still a Telltale game, so you’ll spend plenty of time agonizing over dialogue options like, “Do I risk this relationship or stay silent and look awkward?” Classic. The pacing is solid, with no dragged-out filler episodes that made earlier seasons feel like that one coworker who tells the same story three times.
And, of course, it’s packed with those brutal moral choices we’ve come to expect. Do you harden AJ into a mini-survivor, or try to keep his humanity intact? Either way, expect the kid to sass you about it later. (“You told me to be ruthless! Now I’m ruthless!” Thanks, AJ.)
Visually, the game leans into its comic-book roots more than ever, and the result is stunning. The cel-shaded art style pops, and the cinematography makes every moment feel like it’s straight out of a graphic novel. Telltale may have shut its doors mid-development (RIP), but Skybound swooped in to ensure Clem’s story ended with the care it deserved.
And what an ending it is. Without spoiling too much, let’s just say the finale ties up the series in a way that feels earned, emotional, and oddly uplifting for a game set in the zombie apocalypse. It’s not perfect — some choices feel like they don’t have enough impact — but as a final goodbye to Clementine’s journey, it’s a triumph.
In short, The Final Season is a fantastic send-off for a franchise that has always been about heartbreak, survival, and finding family in unlikely places. It’s not overly long, doesn’t overstay its welcome, and leaves you with just enough hope to carry on. So grab some tissues and enjoy the ride — Clem’s earned it, and so have you.
Verdict: A tearjerker of a finale with just enough zombie-slaying and sarcastic one-liners to keep things balanced.
Apart from some of the action scenes and a couple of others this game turned out to be boring for the most part. All of the characters are bland, there is nothing interesting about any of them, just a bunch of kids with no personality. Didn't care about any of them except for the main protagonists.
Plus the dialoges are so bad. For the most part, this game consists of absolutely boring conversations between uninteresting characters. I can't stress this enough: They talk about meaningless stuff most of the time. After Season 1, these games went downhill, this being the king of ultimate boredom.
Goldy RAAAAAAAAAAAH but damn..... That was just amazing I've always wanted to play this game for years now.... I was still a kid watching other youtubers play this but know I can finally play it and feel the game my on may All the way from s1 to this finale I'm sad it ended but i'm glad i got to played it it was bittersweet and I'm satisfied :)
no idea why the reviews are high. no stakes, all the characters fall flat
Never actually finished this. Just felt like it strayed to far from the other games.
I gotta tell you it was perfect down to the last minute details.
This game feels way different from the 2 first parts of the game. But it makes it up with it's AMAZING storytelling and general expirience. This game is amazing and i loved how the game ended. An solid 9.5/10
cmon hurry up and tell us which one of these things you'd never do in this situation is what you're going to do.
8.5/10
The only walking dead game that matches the quality of the first season of the walking dead
Telltale's The Walking Dead isn't perfect. None of the seasons are, in fact they've got some glaring flaws but art isn't perfect. Melissa Hutchison's performance as a worn and tired Clementine is what we needed. I love that 12 years after I first met her Clementine's story still means so much to me.
The original game is the one lauded even now, and as great as it is, it would be improper to not see Clem's story all the way through.
The dynamic action sequences and over the shoulder view created some very awe-inspiring cinematic moments.
Pivotal story moments
I thought I knew the answers, I thought I would be annoyed yet I was crying when I told AJ to kill Clem. I was sobbing when it was revealed to me that it didn't need to happen. I wanted to see Clem happy.
Story has seriously dropped off from previous seasons. Decisions have way less impact on the overall story.
0/10 clementine fake out death which actually would have been a realistic way for her to die. when i saw her dirty ahh with crutches i lost all hope in the dev team. youre telling me this is the final season and you still have her live for fanservice? WE SAW HER AZZ TURNING!! HER SKIN AND EYES WERE CHANGING!! AJ DID NOT CUT OFF HER LEG, HAVE HER NOT ONLY LIVE FROM THE BLEEDING BUT CARRY HER *UPSTAIRS* INTO A WALKER FILLED BARN AND THEN BACK TO THE SCHOOL IN TIME FOR RUBY TO SAVE HER. the twin, whatever her name was, also spit into clems eye so i thought she was guarenteed a goner from the bite or that. so so so so so stupid. her ahh is DEAD. IN THE GROUND.
also why didnt clem just go back to richmond or even ask javi for help???? we got a one line "they are at war" but i guarentee you it would have been safer than STARVING IN THE WILDERNESS FOR YEARS. javi would have dropped everything to help her or even just went with her again. so stupid.
lily was a cool addition. ill give them that at least.
season 4 is probably top 2 of all four seasons. the scene with lee everett is pure perfection, nostalgic, and a reminder of how far clementine has come. the choices feel heavier than ever, and the art style hits a new level. it’s a bittersweet goodbye, but man, it’s so worth it.
I have never cried THIS MUCH before thank you for this amazing series
this game is so good,i wish telltale made more twd games and am happy that the ending was happy and that Tenn found Clem's hat
it was so good that made me ignore inconsistencies in the twd universe. my favorite season was this, followed by 1st and 2nd. a must play series for me.

"I guess the world got pretty hard, since I left it. A kid growing up in it, he'd be hard too. You're in my shoes now, raising a kid. Think you got a handle on it? It can't be easy, wanting to give him a childhood, but knowing what it takes to survive now. It was easier for me, since the world was just changing. But you're living in one that's changed completely."- Lee Everett
im so heartbroken after finishing this ,,, this series genuinely means so so much to me it hurts so bad. either way, this experience was amazing i cant even begin to explain it im so glad i chose to play this
ily clem ml
i beat every walking dead game and i can say this isnt the best story but it is the best gameplay. not saying the storys bad but it isnt the best one.
This game is a 9.5/10 for me the only reasons for that 0.5 deduction is because I can't view my choices and during Clementine's dream with Lee Clementine's text wasen't Pink like in Season 1 and her flashback in Season 2 other than those minor issues the game's flawless from my POV.
What a beautiful ending for this game series really, Im happy that i ended this series
Absolute cinema
Amazing piece of art. AMAZING PIECE OF ART LITERALLY, THE WHOLE SERIES. i played these games so late, i'm ashamed of myself for not playing these asap when they came out. But happy that i played for myself and didn't watch from youtube (expect the first game)
Easily my favorite Story game ever perhaps favorite game ever. Waiting for Season 5 reveal :p
Compared to the previous games, the gameplay is much better and it shows. The story still had me interested even after all these seasons of the walking dead. It's just amazing to see Clemintine take on the role that Lee did in the first game. Certain scenes and flashbacks almost made me cry lol.
The Walking Dead Games are heaven for my eyes,I've been blessed. :)
Never EVER in my life have i thought that a game would make me bawl my eyes out this much. It was an amazing journey, I'm so glad that i decided to play those games.
This is a brilliant piece of work. [bHighly recommended—just recommended[/b. There's no reason to miss it, especially if you’ve played the first season. You won’t want to miss it. After completing it, you’ll be deeply moved by the excellent story.
The following contains spoilers.
[Graphics: 9/10]
In terms of graphics, this installment is the best in the series. The HD-rendered faces are vivid and lifelike. Lee’s appearance, remastered in HD, is impressive, especially when compared to his face from the first season. The same applies to Clem—her eight-year-old model has been beautifully redesigned. While the first season remains a masterpiece, many images in this installment are stunning, almost like paintings (despite originating in a manga style).
Not to mention, some characters are visually striking—James, for instance, is dreamlike. Why can’t he have a romance with Clem?
AJ is particularly noteworthy. His character design shows great attention to detail; the skin texture on his face, complete with tender folds and subtle lines, conveys realism. You can even notice fine details, like the wrinkles on his forehead. Considering Telltale's old engine lacks a physics-based rendering system, achieving such effects is impressive.
Characters are imbued with additional details to enhance their realism. For example, Willy’s buck teeth, rarely highlighted in previous installments, make him more distinct. AJ’s incisors are shorter, giving him an adorably quirky smile reminiscent of small tiger teeth. Additionally, the walkers and their bite wounds appear far more realistic. Overall, the graphics deserve high marks compared to the rest of the series.
[Music: 8/10]
The music is solid, with no major flaws but few standout moments. The most emotional tracks are from the pause screen for "Clementine" and the two endings of Season 1—"In the Pines" and "Take Us Back." These songs evoke a flood of emotion, and their connection to the first season makes them even more poignant. On their own, the two tracks are of high quality. However, apart from these highlights, the soundtrack is unremarkable, maintaining a typical standard for the series.
[Gameplay: 5/10]
The gameplay suffers from several frustrations. Starting with Michonne, the irritating quick-time events (QTEs) have become a persistent problem. Does the production team genuinely think repeatedly pressing “Q” and then “E” (or random joystick buttons) is enjoyable? One misstep results in a death sequence, forcing players to endure a repetitive loop of a minute-long scene followed by another failed QTE.
The new archery mechanic is equally problematic. Wobbly aiming, sneaky walkers, excessive numbers of enemies, and long recovery times create frustrating gameplay moments. The heavy reliance on archery during key sequences, such as Delta’s attack on the school, feels clunky. This segment, meant to be climactic, devolves into a repetitive series of deaths, breaking plot continuity and mood. The design here is poorly executed.
The addition of simultaneous button presses—like pushing up on the joystick while pressing “A”—adds nothing to the experience. This engine simply doesn’t handle complex QTEs well. Ironically, the first season’s simplicity worked better.
The achievement system also takes a step back. The introduction of numerous missable achievements forces players to replay segments or consult walkthroughs, breaking immersion. With 48 achievements, some mutually exclusive, players cannot complete them all in a single playthrough. For instance, Clem licking mushrooms in the botanical garden to earn an achievement feels unnecessary. For a series finale, achievements should integrate seamlessly into the experience rather than adding unnecessary frustration.
Overall, the gameplay and collection elements detract from the immersion, making them the weakest parts of this installment.
[Plot: 9/10]
While the plot is slightly inferior to the first season—featuring fewer scenes and less variety in settings (mostly in and around the school)—it remains far superior to Season 3 and Michonne. The reuse of certain locations, like the school basement, reflects some laziness in set design.
Initially, I disliked AJ (starting in Season 2) for being a burden. He indirectly caused the deaths of Rebecca, Kenny, Jane, Alvin, and the cabin group, and he got Clem exiled from Richmond in Season 3. However, this season redeems him. From the moment he said, “I love you, Clem,” I was captivated. His unwavering trust in Clem is heartwarming and unmatched. Unlike Clem in Season 1, who inadvertently caused Lee’s death, AJ constantly supports Clem, saving her life repeatedly. His growth and dedication are touching.
One of the most emotional moments is when AJ draws a picture, writing, “I’m going to protect Clem.” By the end, he proudly declares, “I did it.” His loyalty, even to the point of suggesting he’d let Clem bite him to remain together as walkers, is profoundly moving.
I initially believed Clem might die in the finale, given the foreshadowing of Abel’s survival after amputating his bitten arm. However, the barn scene misled me into thinking Clem wouldn’t survive—her pale complexion closely resembled Lee’s just before he died in Season 1. The emotional parallels were unmistakable, especially when “Take Us Back” began playing. Yet, AJ’s miraculous actions saved her, leaving me both relieved and amazed.
For more on this, I recommend reading a Reddit short titled “How I Protected Clem,” which details AJ’s efforts to save her by the game author. Although Clem’s disability may hinder her ability to defend herself, AJ’s devotion ensures she is never alone. After all, the first rule remains: Never go alone.
This episode is incredibly touching. While the overarching conflict feels repetitive after five installments, AJ’s love and loyalty breathe new life into the story.
The other characters, however, are less compelling. The romances are lackluster, with one too serious and the other too frivolous. I chose a romance simply to experience it before Clem’s potential death, but the outcome felt hollow. AJ’s relationship with Tenn, his first friend, is even more meaningful.
Lilly’s return was surprising, though her hair color shift was jarring. Her strength remains intact, but her philosophy diverges significantly. Despite my desire to spare her, the narrative forces her death due to the circumstances.
The supporting cast of students behaves more believably than the adults in prior seasons. While there’s some immaturity, their actions are generally well-written and far more engaging than those of characters like Ben and Sarah.
[Final Thoughts]
This season provides a perfect conclusion to The Walking Dead series. Clementine finds a home, a protector in AJ, and a hopeful future. Though they aren’t related by blood, their bond feels stronger than family
do NOT play if you want to ball your eyes OUUUUUUUUTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT
Amazing game, an unexpected final, do not trust on all what you see
I enjoyed this game very much. It was a great journey. I hope to forget this game so that I can play it again.
With each newer telltale game, the performance issues had been getting better. No matter my locked frame rate i would get the same level of dips, but besides that, i had a blast with this game.
Some of the choices felt bad, and i did get a little bit of "hey, i didn't mean that" creep, which pulled me back from immersion slightly. Probably a good thing this was the final season as it has me waiting for every beautiful moment to contain a headwound. My emotions need some recovery time for sure.
Great game overall though, definitely some holes but they're not so wide that it isn't safe from walkers. I would almost be happy with paying full price, but you can very likely get this game for a steal as i did, so i recommend waiting, and then you well and truly cannot go wrong. Goes without saying that you should play the other walking dead games first!
Single mom in a zombie apocalypse
In this one you get to be for AJ what Lee was for Clementine. AJ is loveable, and through words and action you will shape him into what you think he needs to be to survive. The characters slowly grew on me. Lots of tense moments and tough calls. I expected more grandeur and something a bit more definitive, but it's still a decent ending and a very enjoyable journey that I almost binged through.
This is a no-brainer if you played the previous titles and I recommend the whole series if you like point and click adventures or story driven games.
This game is perfect. We finaly got the ending of Clementine's story and it's also great. That's about the game...
The skyboud comic books about Clementine (by Tillie Walden) ARE COMPLETELY SHIT. She did not even play the games, she's just making it up as she goes.
SKYBOUND PLEASE stop this mess and don't ruin a good story with that comics.
