We Were Here Together

The start is really nice. The puzzles make sense and the atmosphere is great.
But the further you go, the more abstract the puzzles get and the atmosphere becomes blander and blander.
They also get less satisfying, sometimes requiring pretty random "non-logic" to figure out.
At some point, when we got stuck, we started checking the answers to puzzles online.
Maybe we're just bad at puzzle games.
Maybe the developers are veterans and they make games also for puzzle game veterans.

I didn't get that interested in the story either.
Without spoilers - it was nice and simple in the start and then turned into something pretty generic.

The game is also full of different types of bugs and performance issues.
Screen tearing, badly implemented voice chat, settings that don't do anything when changed because they are bugged. Some sound effects are way too loud and you cannot lower them, because the settings don't work. Seemingly random disconnects.
I also played on 2 different computers, so it's unlikely that is was my hardware's fault.
Maybe it got worse as time moved on, because the developers don't patch the game anymore (understandable, because it was released a few years back, but it's more of a problem with online games than singleplayer).
I think that's why many of the reviews are more positive than they would be today.

Amazing game! A puzzle and co-op game? Count me in! I don't remember how I stumbled across this game but I am so glad that I did. I love a brain teaser plus you get to work on your communication skills by having to describe/explain things. Solid 10/10. Will go back and play the first game and then all the ones after that.

Love these games and will buy the new one when it comes out.

Fun game with cool puzzles that require good communication skills. I played it with a friend, and it took about 8 hours for each of us to finish both sides and get all of the Steam achievements. We did encounter a game-breaking bug that forced a restart. Thankfully, the game lets you resume from any chapter, so we didn't have to start over from the beginning. Some of the puzzles can be a bit tricky; we were able to solve most of them, but we had to look up a guide a couple of times. Overall, this was a fun experience and I would recommend it, especially if you can get it on sale.

Chapter 10 is bugged. Can't load into it, so it makes us repeat Chapter 9 every time, meaning we can't finish the game.

This game could be interesting, but bugs, confusing riddle ruined it. We struggled with 3 levels for some time only to find out on Reddit that the game is bugged.

Next are some minor spoilers for a level, so read if you want. So, on the level with 3 paintings and where you needed to match things in the rooms , we walked for an hour to understand what we needed to do and then we looked up some info and found out that our level was completely broken. And what do you think? Level worked after restart. And such situation was with 3 different levels!

So, if you like this series, you can play it, because it offers some interesting levels, but personally it is the worst game of this series

Chapter 10 in this game is impossible dont waste your time

It's a really fun cooperative game with well thought-out puzzles that require good communication between players. The atmosphere and art direction are well done, and immerse players in the mysterious world of the series.

However, the game's lifespan is a real weak point. In just a few hours, it's already over, and we're left a little disappointed. What's more, some passages lack fluidity, particularly in movement and interaction with the environment, which can be frustrating.

All in all, it's a good experience for two, but it could have done with a bit more content and polish to make a real impact. If you like escape games for two, it's worth a go, but perhaps on special offer!

Ngl this game broke my brain in ways I couldn't even imagine. But the devs of this game put SO much effort into this game, so many puzzles to solve, so much detail, tbh honest the only bad thing I could think of was that I wasn't able to talk with my friend through the radio in-game, but we used Discord instead. This game was an amazing experince and would recommend it to everyone, it needs some thinking for sure, but it is truly a really enjoyable game, especially with friends. I'm not gonna forget this game and the memories within it for sure.

I don't know if it was cause I was playing this late at night with my friend or something but good god was this game frustrating. It started and ended pretty strong with interesting puzzles but the middle was so annoying. Some puzzles were incredibly unintuitive or were way too one sided.
I still don't understand why what we did with the colored tanks and pipes was the solution, it felt like the only involvement my friend had with the tesla reactor was putting in the answer, and the water silo gave me an entire puzzle while my friend just had to sit there for 5 minutes. The worst offender was the parallel rooms bit where my friend and I apparently had to communicate random sounds of a clock? At least that might be the answer since even after sharing our screens with each other we still couldn't get it and I brute forced the solution of the last puzzle instead.
On a more positive note, the soulstone part was fun cause I got to explaining the silly little dudes and try to pronounce crazy looking fake words. Oh, and the Seal reference one the map is funny.

Fantastic puzzle game series to play with a friend. Each game has been better (and longer!!) than the last.

This game has some of the highest highs and lowest lows of the series. Some of the best puzzles, level design, music, and overall vibes you will find in the series, but also some of the worst, most one-sided and unintuitive puzzles as well. Overall, it's definitely worth playing if you enjoyed the other We Were Here games, and def worth playing if you enjoy co-op puzzles in general -- just prepare yourself for the shitty parts. 7/10

Unfortunately, the puzzles in this game made this my least favorite game in the We Were Here series, however, it made up for it in my ability to make the choice for my partner at the end without their say (choosing to stab myself somehow got a worse reaction than betraying and stabbing my partner). 6/10

Very fun and challenging. The only gripe I have is with the in-game chat system. It would be a little better if there was a proximity chat in addition to the walkie talkies.

Can't recommend. For coop experience there were only few good puzzles which were fun to solve.

Others puzzles were boring or unnecessary complicated or both. Also as it was mentioned in other reviews in some puzzles one player does all the work while another just reads some manuals.

Loved playing this co-op with my husband - really fun game. Yes we yelled at each other - but in a fun way. Highly recommend using the walkie talkies over discord, makes it more stressful (in a fun way)

After reaching chapter 6 my pc start crashing caused by the game , and I am unable to progress in the game.

Middling review, not great, not terrible. Can't justify a positive review overall though.

A longer game with some cool mechanics and more puzzles.
Some of the puzzles were GREAT and well designed, but only some.

Quite a few of them were genuinely just badly designed IMO. Multiple puzzles we carefully analyzed for patterns and there just weren't any. Some puzzles we solved randomly before we could figure out what was going on, some puzzles require you to die a bunch to acquire the information to even start the puzzle, some puzzles have a solution that is backwards, just because.

I dislike puzzles that require a lot of throwing crap at the wall to see what sticks. Careful hints and clear consequences make for more interesting puzzles.

I thought this one was the most frustrating out of the first three games.

Has a lot of great puzzles. But certain puzzles were not fun. I am looking at you greenhouse.

the checkpoints/save file can just magically disappear. had the same problem with the last game but at least there was a fix for that one. how do you release TWO individual games with an IDENTICAL bug and then make it UNFIXABLE? i am NOT playing 60% of the game all over just to see the ending.

We Were Here Together – An Honest Review

I recently played We Were Here Together, the third instalment in the We Were Here series, and I have to say, it was a mixed experience for me. The game had some great moments but also a few frustrating aspects that held it back from being truly outstanding.

The Positives

First off, the cooperative nature of the game is fantastic. If you enjoy working closely with a friend to solve puzzles, this game offers a solid experience. Communication is key, and the walkie-talkie system adds an extra layer of challenge and immersion, making you feel like you’re really trying to navigate an eerie and mysterious environment together.

The puzzle design is, for the most part, well thought out. Some puzzles were genuinely clever and required teamwork, which made solving them incredibly satisfying. The visuals and atmosphere were also a step up from the previous entries, with some well-crafted environments that added to the sense of adventure and isolation. The Antarctic setting combined with eerie castles and laboratories created a haunting yet intriguing world.

The Negatives

That said, We Were Here Together is not without its issues. Some puzzles felt a bit too obscure, relying on trial and error rather than logic. At times, it felt like the game was intentionally making things more difficult than necessary, which could lead to frustration rather than fun. Also, the walkie-talkie mechanic, while immersive, can be clunky. The push-to-talk feature sometimes felt more like an obstacle than an enhancement, especially when you just wanted to have a smooth conversation with your co-op partner.

Another drawback was the pacing. The game had moments where it felt slow, especially when backtracking or trying to figure out what to do next without clear direction. The story, while intriguing, also left some loose ends and didn’t feel as impactful as it could have been.

Final Thoughts

Overall, We Were Here Together is a solid co-op puzzle game with some great ideas and engaging moments, but it’s not perfect. If you and a friend enjoy challenging puzzle games and don’t mind occasional frustration, it’s definitely worth playing. However, if you’re looking for a smooth, well-paced experience without any trial-and-error roadblocks, this might not be the game for you.

Chapter 8 is severely bugged. The room straight up doesn't load some of the puzzle elements for one of the pair, and the elements that load are bugged (but not in an obvious enough way to make sure that you can understand that it is bugged). Me and my companion spent over 1hr30min just on that room alone, getting more and more frustrated, until I finally decided to search for the solution online... And the first result is a post from 4 years ago in Reddit explaining the exact same bug we encountered. This game is still being sold. There was never a bug fix. My faith on attempting to actually solve any of the future puzzles is completely gone, because now if any puzzles are too hard, me and my companion will just assume that it is bugged. The game is mostly fun, but the lack of a hint system and the seemingly complete lack of care for the state of game while it is still being charged for makes me absolutely not recommend this game for anyone.

The WWH games are some of the best co-op puzzle game that you can play. Always new riddles, challenging enough, and generally great fun.

Amazing puzzle game. If you love puzzle games with friends you will most likely enjoy this game! Had many fun times and frustrating moments with my boyfriend. We both love it!!

Third part was Amazing. More lore. More story and fun cutsense. The puzzles were a struggle to figure out which need defining. I would say the Electric Puzzle would have broken some people. But otherwise good game!

After playing through this complete series (except the latest standalone) and finishing the story, I highly recommend these co-op puzzle games. They were a ton of fun and really made us think! There were plenty of moments to remember, from those a-ha moments that make you feel good, to some puzzles that made you laugh a little along the way. In our opinion, the 2nd and 3rd game in the series were the best, with the 4th one feeling a little too drawn out, but the story is well worth it to play through all 4 in order!

However, the game is very broken and you will have to reboot the game and verify the game files for a couple chapters if you want to finish the game.

A very good part of the We Were Here series. In addition to interesting and not so easy puzzles, there is also a plot, which I think is a nice addition to the concept of an escape room game. Extensive, pleasant, and will provide you with pleasant fun for several hours with another person!

My best friend & I have played the entire We Were Here series, and him & I have loved every single one! They get increasingly more challenging & longer with each new game, which was awesome! Might drive you nuts if you can’t communicate well with your co-op partner though, you need one another from start to finish! We have tried to find similar series that are just as good and nothing has even come remotely close! We are going to run through them all again simply because we miss the game play! HIGHLY RECOMMEND if you are looking for a CO-OP puzzle series!

After playing the first two We Were Here games, I was definitely looking forward to playing this one and they delivered! This game included a lot more content than the first two and took a bit longer to complete.

This is a good pick up for both the casual scene and completionists. I believe the replay value to be pretty good as well - I've played with a couple different friends and each experience was as fun as the last!

I spent 6 and a half hours malding with my friend because we are absolute troglodytes.

I see people complain that they had to look things up. Absolute skill issue, we are morons and didn't look have to look up anything, and judging by average playtime, we did about average in terms of time played. Almost all the puzzles in hindsight made sense and road blocks amounted to us missing something.

This game, like the other ones, is fantastic, and if i never have to play it again, I will be much happier.

Play it, trust me, you'll regret it

A fun, a bit challanging game. Some things are weird and hard to understand. But when you finally figure out the puzzle it is so rewarding. When doing a second playthrough as the other role. You get so moments where you just understand the whole puzzle imedietly

I've played and enjoyed a bunch of puzzle games before, but this one was definitely the worst so far. Setting aside previous experiences and bias though, this game objectively just kind of sucks.

Some puzzles were convoluted, lengthy, and felt like they lacked logical solutions (Chapter 8, Book #6 / Book A). There was a puzzle that my partner and I solved without actually using the key for it, which just seems like poor puzzle design (Chapter 7, Puzzle 2). Others were just kind of messy in general with how they were presented to work VS how they actually worked (Chapter 4).

Overall if you liked "We Were Here Too", just don't buy this game. If you bought this one, refund it if you can and buy "We Were Here Too" lol.

This is easily the worst puzzle game I've ever played, and I've played a damn lot of them. The "asynchronous" aspect is never utilized, as most of the puzzles involve one person standing still and waiting while the other person solves the puzzle. This is made worse by timed puzzles and a complete lack of a hints system making this an absolute slog. Just don't pick this up.

Also: You just stole the Mean Green Mother from Outerspace from Little Shop of Horrors. Fuck you.

1000 brainbreaking puzzles out of 10

When you finally solved it - it all make so much sense.
But before that amazing moment you kinda want to die and it feels like you are the dumbest person ever.

Replay-able from other size, since the fact that you seen opposite side would not help you that much.


Be prepared to use communication, describe weapons and animals in details and main thing - HOW TO DESCRIBE THE CLOCK TICKING and the nuance difference between 4 different ticking sounds....
